Ah marmite she's lovely!

Also thinking of vroc and Q here...fingers crossed for more baby news very soon.

ffaux hope you're doing ok and catheter issues sorted.

Sorry to read of sore boobs...makes my nipples sting a bit at the memory and anticipation for this time. Sad

wool and trijo I'm firmly on the bench with you, though I do get a lot of BH I have nothing else to report. AT ALL.

indom did you make it to work today?? Hope you're soon home and zzzzzzzzzz if so.

vroc81 · 18/03/2016 15:59

marmite love the outfit, she's lovely!!

I'm not holding out on anything exciting to report for some time... I'm bored.... I'm on a jam packed antenatal ward listening to someone else further down the process panting away in a slightly off putting I think I want the drugs just listening to her way!

Hoping Q is coming along well!

dobbythedoggy · 18/03/2016 16:13

Congratulations marmite, love the tigger outfit.

Eddy has developed a really gunky eye, so used to dealing with them in slightly older babies, but with him still being so tiny I don't want to muck around with it too much without someone in the know looking at it. Our fab gp surgery have got him an appointment this at 5 so it can be checked out. Looks so sorry for himself whenever he tries to open it, poor little bear!

1frenchfoodie · 18/03/2016 16:20

Cute pic marmite and thanks for point on induction. Monitoring fine and 0 pressure to go for induction - in fact midwife at one point said 'if you go 3 or 4 weeks overdue...' I reassured her I was definately not aiming for a 10 month pregnancy! Does mean daily monitoring but that is reassuring if a bit of a tie. I'm pretty chilled about an induction, just seen enough progress with a couple of sweeps to hope things may start of their own accord soon.

Q and vroc hope you are progressing okay.

IndomitabIe · 18/03/2016 16:55

Ooh! Exciting news Q!

Cute pic marmite!

Yep, I couldn't leave my colleagues in the lurch, magpie. Got there to find that two others are deathly ill too. So we were all in it together! Lots of people telling me they don't expect to see me on Monday, but I'm not so sure... if there's nothing exciting going on (and if this cold has shifted) I'll be in. (I am a stubborn idiot. I've decided it'll be cool to have the "I worked until after my due date" story to tell for the rest of my life!)

BeautifulLiar · 18/03/2016 17:03

dobby all my newborns have had that. Some breast milk on cotton wool should clear it up!

magpiedreams · 18/03/2016 17:10

Haha I know what you mean indom, DS was born at 36 weeks and I kind of love my "I was working a 12 hour Oncall shift then I got home and my waters broke but I still went in to work the next morning to check hey we're ok before checking into the delivery suite" story!!

Trinpy · 18/03/2016 17:18

Congratulations marmite! I'm really pleased that you got the birth you wanted. That tigger outfit is so cute!

Hope all is going well with Q and that things get going soon for you too vroc.

God, I'm so bored of early labour now. Nothing to report - just bored!

1frenchfoodie · 18/03/2016 17:20

indominable kudos for working so late. I made it to 38wks but fell between a tube train and platform when squeezed off a busy carriage at Victoria in my last week and was very pleased I only had a few more days to go after that. Whole carriage of commuters mangage to ignore me shaking, gently sobbing and trying to mop tears with Metro as I tried to gather myself on next train. All bar lady with baby on board badge who snapped 'less of the elbows love' at me. Not a fun start to the day.

IndomitabIe · 18/03/2016 17:30

What a bunch of bastards, 1french!
Shock So glad I don't live in London. (Our public transport is shit, but it is pretty here)

QforCucumber · 18/03/2016 17:31

Hi all - I will read properly when I get chance but just so you all are up to date, currently 7cm gas and air and mepthid all that I've needed so far. Looking like soon for baby Q.
Baby Heart rate dropped a couple of times to 50 bpm but goes back up quickly so no worries. Just wish it would hurry up now - want get off this monitor and meet my baby!

IndomitabIe · 18/03/2016 17:37

Good luck, Q!

MyNameIsSuz · 18/03/2016 17:57

So... after I waved dh and ds off this morning the pains in my back got worse and I had a show. Two hours later I was giving birth!! Poor dh got to work and had to come straight back, we made it as far as the local maternity unit where I was desperate to get on the gas and air. After not a lot of pushing, she was here! First real contractions at about 8.15, born at 10.30, discharged by 3.30 so I'm home already. She was 7lb 12 and has already had a few feeds and several dirty nappies.

It was quite nice being in the local unit, I was the only patient and someone went to waitrose for cupcakes to have afterwards. Then they ran me a lovely bath with lots of lavender, all very nice as childbirth goes. Also had the baby delivered by my midwife, who I've seen for all but one appointment so far.

I think we've just about decided on Sylvie, but trying out a few others to be sure. It's a favourite for neither of us, but highest on the joint list.

Sorry, this has been all about me! It's such a busy thread I haven't had a chance to catch up yet, I will do so now!

IndomitabIe · 18/03/2016 18:02

Wow, Suz! Congratulations! Love the name too!

RhubarbAndMustard · 18/03/2016 18:11

Wow, congrats Suz that's such a great birth story and I LOVE the name Sylvie.

Very cute Tigger outfit marmite.

Keep going vroc and Q and keep posting!

I've had some bad news. Had a call from HR and am now going through consultation process but likely I'll be made redundant. With DP not working either this has hit me pretty bad. Sad I need some newborn pics to cheer me up please!!

Timetogrowup2016 · 18/03/2016 18:26

suz- well done you. congrats. my mum is a Sylvia.
q- keep going girl. can't wait to hear the update when baby is born.

thanks everyone re the feeding. My oh normally feeds her around 9pm when i go to bed. then I normally do midnight-1am and he does 3/4am and then I have her until he gets home. I find she eats less in the mornings from about 6-midday and then makes up for it in the afternoon. she is visibly growing eg her nappies look smaller on her and her early baby size clothes actually fit instead of being baggy now. still to big for newborn bless her. plenty of dirty nappies and wet ones- and yes be aware ladies with girls they can pee on you to!. last night she peed and pooed mid change- was lovely when your half asleep- not!

indom- i salute you working as long as your planning to.

had a mini panic tonight. C is normally a good settler. we've had no issues with her going into her moses basket etc and im getting a good 6-8 hours unbroken sleep but she will only go in it wrapped tight in a blanket- she will have her arms free but she can't settle often without however sometimes she will.
I am scared when she gets to the point that she can roll over and back again that she won't be able to settle and we will only get 1-2 hours sleep a night. I read all the bad sleep stories on here to and make my self panic (silly I know) will she outgrow needing to be wrapped? i think it makes her feel safe.

Timetogrowup2016 · 18/03/2016 18:28

rhu- sorry to hear the news.

re the gunky eye calais has this to and we where told to just wipe with cooled boiled water and unless it looks red and infected it should be fine

IndomitabIe · 18/03/2016 18:28

That's shit Rhu. Presumably they're working hard to prove that you're surplus to requirements, as making a woman on maternity leave redundant is a dangerous game that looks like discrimination.

Hopefully you'll have a nice redundancy package and it'll be the catalyst to some dream job.

Still, scary shit. ThanksChocolate

Trinpy · 18/03/2016 18:42

Wow suz that was very sudden! Sounds like a very positive experience though. Congratulations!

Q still updating at 7cm? That's true dedication to the group Wink. Good luck with the rest of the labour!

Rhu that's awful, I'm so sorry, thats the last thing you need right now Flowers.

hayleycookie · 18/03/2016 18:51

Well done Suz what a good birth story!!
Q good luck, you're nearly there!!
Am I the only 10th March left now? Noooooooooo someone kick me into labour!!!!

OP posts:
BumpPower · 18/03/2016 18:52

Wow suz amazing positive story!! Well done you!! Loving the waitrose cupcakes!
Nothing to report here dull dull dull
Hope everyone else is good

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/03/2016 18:59

Congrats suz wow a very quick birth! Love the name Smile

Q nearly there now!

time I wouldn't stress yourself out about possible bad sleep. To be honest there will be times where sleep regresses but you'll cope. DD1 was a terrible sleeper - waking every couple of hours for a long time, but we managed and you do get used to it. And it may not even happen to you anyway...

rhu that does sound complete shit Sad

MyNameIsSuz · 18/03/2016 19:03

Thanks everyone!

Sending good vibes to everyone in labour, and anyone overdue, hopefully it won't be too long for any of you!

Ohwoolballs · 18/03/2016 19:20

Rhubarb massive love and hugs from me. This is so shit to have to go through. 💐

Suz Sounds like you had an amazing birth! Fantastic! And mega congrats, Sylvie is a beaut name - picture soon yeah? nagging!

Marmite what a gorgeous baby you have! hopes the photos kick something hormonal into gear that isn't just boob juice

Purpleprickles · 18/03/2016 21:07

Wow Suz well done! See I told you it's the magic sweep Grin

Rhubarb that is shit and I'm so sorry you have this to deal with at the moment.

Time I'm not going to claim to be an expert bottle feeder but with Evie we are just letting her demand feed really and sometimes she has 2oz and sometimes less or sometimes 3oz. If she was breastfeeding you wouldn't know the volume she had only that she had fed. I think weight and the fact you can see her growing is a much better measure than the ounces.
