indom I used a tens with DD and didn't find it that useful - didn't stop the pain just provided a distraction pain. Bit hard to describe! Not bothering this time round....

Lost a bit more of my plug this evening but still not much so things definitely happening but very slowly. No contractions yet, just strong braxton hicks so reckon I'm in for the long haul. But feeling more positive that I won't have to be induced. On the downside I can see this going on for a couple more days at least at this rate!

What are fanny compresses??

dobbythedoggy · 16/03/2016 21:47

indom I used a tens. It was fantastic at easing all the coughing related aches and pains when I was ill before going into labour. Used it in what must have been early labour and up until a couple of hours before Eddy was born, only took it off because combined with the high feeling the gas and air gave me it became an irritating tickle! Also found it good for after pains in the first couple of days at home while breast feeding, in hospital I wasn't bothered as had oral morphine a couple of times both days. I hiered mine from tesco, if there's one with a chemist near you they just had them on the shelf, I think it was £58, with £28.50 being refunded on return. I felt like I got my moneys worth. A friend of mine got one for lloyds pharmacy; ordered online for collection 48 hours later.

ffaux congratulations!

beaut good luck for the morning. I'm dreading dh going back to work and leaving me with the early morning breakfast shift, then tea and bedtime alone. It's lovely to have him home in the day, but not so great with the prospect of cluster feeds at dd's bedtime and how much trouble she can cause if she's too tired.

I had mil/gmil woes with dd. Best thing hands down I've done this time was put my foot down hard and say no visitors (basically no ils). I feel amazing having had time and privacy to establish breast feeding, not being presured to hand baby off to anyone and being able to sleep and eat whenever I need to. Mil and fil had a short visit with my dad while we were in hospital then today we all went out to mil's. Had one moment of needing to be firm with her to get her to hand Eddy back rather than rock him to sleep when he started to stir for a feed. Announcing my boobs were going to explode if left any longer was very effective. Gmil is in a strop through, as not welcome to visit us at home for varrious reasons and wasn't asked up to the hospital so made other plans this morning, dh is delighted as he doesn't have to deal with her drama.

On another note, itchy stiches have been driving me crazy since lunch time, so hard to sit still when trying to feed. Spent the evening sat on a disposable change mat letting the air get to them.

Health visitor coming tomorrow to do hearing test and play with my sling collection, made me her last appointment of the day so she can have a look at the internatonal slings I've aquired. Also have to ask her to check poor Eddy's skin, his peeling all over today in a way that just looks painful although he doesn't seem bothered, dd's toes were the only things that ever peeled.

IndomitabIe · 16/03/2016 21:58

Thanks for the Tesco/Lloyds Pharmacy tips - I'll check them out. I used one for a bit with DS and didn't think it did much for me. But it was noticeable when I took it off to get in the water (but I think the water was better).

Multi Gyn Perineal Compresses - I'm sure someone here recommended them, and the nipple compresses. I've splashed out anyway, I'll let you know (eventually). Might be something to try, dobby.

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 16/03/2016 22:08

Congratulations to ffaux, lovely to hear things have gone well after your worries!
I also feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever- due date is tomorrow and because I had my midwife appointment today she didn't class me as term so wouldn't do a sweep. Instead, I have to ring in the morning and see when they can book me in, possibly at a different medical centre so might be hauling my arse to a different surgery to have a stranger rooting around one day next week. Fun Confused
I do think I am losing my plug bit by bit, which is encouraging. I seem to be having a lot of mild period type pains but they never lead to anything. Also- apologies for TMI- but an increase in discharge over the past few days...it's all a bit grim down there basically at the mo Blush

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 16/03/2016 22:10

Oh and good luck to Q and doc with your inductions tomorrow! Can't wait for more baby pictures Flowers

Trinpy · 16/03/2016 23:20

Good luck to Q and doc with your inductions.

Hope things pick up again for you bump and marmite.

I'm getting veeery bored of this stop-start labour now. Contractions every 15 mins but they don't seem to be going anywhere. I'm exhausted already!

Madmamma39 · 16/03/2016 23:22

Haven't been able to catch up with all the posts but thought I'd update you all... Baby girl was born at 17.51 this evening after waters going at 1.30pm and midwife returning around 4pm! Amazing pain relief free home birth and baby was 8lb12! Still a little fuzzy!!

MrsElls · 17/03/2016 02:28

Congratulations mad! Looking toward to the name and a pic when you have settled down with your new little one.

I've just had to wake Cassidy for a feed, she faffed at my boob for most feeds for most of the day yesterday so after 6 hours of sleep I was rather uncomfortable. On the up side I decided to express a bit first as I couldn't face her faffing against bulging boobs and had a productive 5 mins watering all my plants and catching a big spider whilst I waited for the pump to sterilise!

IndomitabIe · 17/03/2016 06:08

Wow, congratulations madmamma! That sounds amazing!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 17/03/2016 06:10

Congrats mad! Sounds perfect!

I've had cramping all night but mild enough that I slept a fair amount and only woke a few times with them. I was hoping for a quicker labour than with DD but looks like my body is a bit shit and only knows how to do things slowly Confused oh well, hope things pick up soon.

Good luck everyone with inductions today!

BumpPower · 17/03/2016 06:42

Congratulations madmamma
Good luck with inductions today!
After having proper waves of can't speak through it pain yesterday everything just faded away and I gave up and went to bed! On the plus side I had a good night's sleep but can't get over the disappointment and frustration of not being in labour and STILL being pregnant....Sad

QforCucumber · 17/03/2016 07:11

Congratulations mad

Looks like no baby for me today, rang delivery suite for an induction time - been told to call back after 3pm. Actually really peeved off as dp has obviously taken today as the start of his paternity leave when now he could have gone to work, and we don't even know if I'll be in at 3 - just said to phone back. Had barely any sleep because I got a bit anxious about it all and now just want a massive cry because it's not happening Sad

marmite and bump hope your stop/start stuff becomes something more prominent and real soon too!

maybebabybee · 17/03/2016 07:46

Congrats mad and ffaux!!!

Our baby boy was born yesterday evening via c section :)

BeautifulLiar · 17/03/2016 07:50

Congratulations mad!

Q that's sooo shit :( they sent me home with my first baby because they were too busy to induce me despite booking me in. I went home and just cried. Hope you can get in after 3 Flowers

After all my stress and preparation yesterday, DH found there isn't much work going on so is using up his last two days of annual leave! So now Monday is the scary day...

Sorry to all those with stop start labours. Sounds so crap :(

BeautifulLiar · 17/03/2016 07:52

Yay congratulations maybe!! so glad to hear your update :)

BumpPower · 17/03/2016 07:56

Flowers congrats maybe
Sorry to hear that Q can you go out for lunch just the two of you? Try and make the most of a v frustrating situation?

1frenchfoodie · 17/03/2016 08:01

Congratulations madmamma and maybe, good to see they are coming out. No signs here at 40+11, 2nd sweep later today.

charley, interesting comment about going to a different medical centre and a stranger doing the sweep - the appointment I had this tue at my usual surgery for a sweep was the 5th in a row where I'd had a different midwife, continuity is not the name of the game here! Happily she was by far the nicest - she is normally a home birth midwife and just seemed a much more people person than most of the 8 (!) I have seen over past appointments.

MyNameIsSuz · 17/03/2016 08:21

Congratulations mad and maybe!!!

No labour here, but have the midwife later so will hopefully get a sweep.

IndomitabIe · 17/03/2016 08:23

Congrats maybe!

Sympathies Q.

I've failed at parenting today and forgotten to send DS dressed up for sports relief day. Poor dude might never forgive me.

RhubarbAndMustard · 17/03/2016 08:27

Yay congratulations maybe and to mad.
*
Maybe* I hope your c section went well. It is a bit sore and hunched over the first couple of days but I'm now 2 weeks later and feeling virtually back to normal. Have to keep reminding myself not to do too much. Just keep on top of your ibroprufen and paracetamol.

TheMshipIsBack · 17/03/2016 08:50

Congratulations mad & maybe!! And good luck to the inductioneers today!

Indom, I used a boots tens this time and found it very helpful for the first couple of the 4 hours of active labour. I got it second hand for cheap, would be happy to post it to you if you pm me your address.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 17/03/2016 09:04

Congrats maybe!

Sounds v frustrating q, expect you just want it over with now. Good luck to everyone having inductions today.

Sorry to hear no progress on your end bump. I've had cramping this morning but still nothing proper. Just on my way back from dropping off DD at nursery - its about a two mile round trip there and back so thought I'd use the excuse to get out the house and get things moving! Definitely feeling lots of pressure, some low back ache and period like cramps so think its just a waiting game at this point. Consultant appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping I'll be offered another sweep, at the very least will know if things have progressed at all from Monday!

Trinpy · 17/03/2016 09:04

Morning everyone.

Congratulations to mad and maybe!

Q thats rubbish. I suppose they have emergencies which they can't help but its its still annoying. I hope they can fit you in at 3 then you can have a nice relaxed morning with dh first.

marmite how long did your early labour last with your first pregnancy? Hope things get going soon - and for you too bump.

I had contractions every 15mins through the night and I woke up with each one Angry but I managed to doze in between and they tailed off between 5-6am, so I did get some sleep.

I know lots of women have stop-start labours like this but I really don't understand why I'm having this with my second when I didn't have any early labour at all with my first - I literally just woke up one morning in full-blown active labour and had the baby in the afternoon. Does this all sound normal? Its been going on since Tuesday afternoon and I don't feel like I'm getting any closer to actually having the baby Sad.

MrsElls · 17/03/2016 09:11

Congratulations maybe, another one ticked off the list! Good luck to everyone either being induced or in early labour, fx more babies today or tomorrow at least

ffauxlivia · 17/03/2016 09:13

Here is our little bundle. She was supposed to be a Seren but doesn't seem to suit it, so we may go with Arianwen Rose, but can't bloody decide! (I am Welsh btw)

Still stuck in hospital as having bladder issues and on a catheter, fun! Sick of gowns and invasive procedures really want to be home! But baby also having issues after losing so much weight in 24 hours so they are a bit concerned. I can't seem to get more than a couple of drops of colostrum so supplementing with donor milk right now. Posters weren't kidding when they said breastfeeding is hard! It's all a bit stressful

But loving the cuddles so much

Good luck to those getting inductions today, and congrats mad and maybe!
