Hi all, everyone's sleep patterns seem to be going haywire - not looking forward to the teething thing - although dd was no prob with hers she got them really late tho.

Bendy - i've got a bumbo seat, it was great with dd when first weaning cos she was way too small for a high chair and didn't sit well till about 8 months. As soon as she could crawl though she worked out how to escape from it very quickly. I will be using it for ds too, was brill for taking to other people's houses as well (although they did wonder why i was potty training so early - duh).
Also must bite the bullet and put lo in his big cot bed. I keep putting it off but he completely fills the moses basket now.

Re snuffly noses at 3 months they are old enough for Karvol - it is a decongestant that you put on a hankie/muslin and hang near the cot (both children have them hanging above them atm). Also HV said there is a pipette type thing you can buy that draws all the snot out of little nose YUKKKKK - think i need to buy one though. My friend says shes seen them in mothercare.

I think I'm going to ban myself from MN for a week cos I melted DS dummies the other night. Put them to boil in pan for a few mins while i had a coffee and checked my 'threads i'm watching' - half an hour later smoke alarm went off and low and behold one pan full of melted smelly plastic with 4 teats sticking out. It really stank - is still lingering now. Thank god for smoke alarms is all i can say

BENDYB · 10/02/2007 22:31

taffy- lol at the dummies! yeah think im gonna get 1 of them chairs aswell as a highchair, they look good & like u say b good 4 takin 2 other peoples houses.

aw youngmum poor lil jasmine, hope she's ok, bless her!

pmoore · 11/02/2007 08:37

Morning,

Hoep all these coldy babies are feeling better. LO is just starting another one really can't wait till spring. (I'm informed then you have to deal with summer colds!)

Funeral went ok on Friday, very nice service got some smiles. Gran and grandad had been married 60 years this year imagine! LOL.

Samantha slept from 7.30pm-7.20am last night. She seems to have dropped that last feed, any experienced people is this normal? I do try and dream feed her about 10pm but is this necessary?

Gingeme- hope SW is going well, I only lost half a pound last week, but I suppose its going in the right direction!

Have a good day all.

majormoo · 11/02/2007 12:09

pmoore glad the funeral went well. Obviously funerals are sad, but my nan died when DD was 6 weeks old, and the funeral went really well and I look back on it fondly now. Hope you can do the same. 60 years!

Mummypossum, Emzicke, Nicand2-hope you are all feeling a bit better.

Taffy v. impressive managing to melt your dummies.

pmoore- I am so jealous of your sleep. Not having much luck with sleep here, but I reckon just go with what she wants to do. Maybe she no longer needs the dream feed. But I am far from an expert as CAN'T GET NO SLEEP!
Had a dreadful night last night. He slept from 6.30pm,-11.30pm no problem. But then up at 2am, 3.15 (and not happy as I would not feed him til I gave in about 4am), then up again at 6.15am. aaah. not sure if it is because of his cough, getting hungry as he is near to weaning time or just habit. Am toying with giving him formula at the 11pm feed to see if it helps. Plus DD woke up 3 times-not sure what was wrong with her. I was a zombie this morning while she was getting me to dress her as sleeping beauty. DH has taken her swimming this morning so have a bit of piece and quiet. Or would have if ds didn't keep rolling onto his tummy and getting stranded and yelling because he can't get back again!

Gingeme · 11/02/2007 13:37

Good afternoon ladies.
pmoore I havnt started sw yet. Im starting Wed morning. I went 6 years ago before we got married and found it brill and so easy to follow.Youll find that one week youll be realy good and not lose much and another week you might cheat a bit and lose a couple of pound. They also let you off 2lb on your 'star week'.
Im taking my ds3 to see Brum this afternoon. Its a ive show at the lcal theatre. I havnt told him were goin so its going to be a nice suprise. My sil is meeting us there with her little boy so itll be raly nice.
Gave lo his second taste of fruit puree today.Seems to be enjoying it so far
Hes got his last lot of jabs tommorow. Dh coming with me this time.
Have a good afternoon.

nicand2 · 11/02/2007 17:06

LO has chicken pox now as well, i feel so sorry for him being so young he's covered in blisters.

I am also having periods from hell. I only had a 7 day break in between the end of one and the start of the next. i'm bleeding heavily for 10 days as well. I've spoken to my dr and she needs to do an exam so Im waiting for my apt next week. This weekend I've also been feeling really dizzy and sweaty and I' sure there's a link somewhere, hope it's not early menopause!!

Swizzler · 11/02/2007 19:16

Nicand2: sorry you're feeling ill. Poor LO as well.

Despite the constant bfing, my periods have returned as well - I was hoping for more of a break. Well done for those going to SW. I have been trying to eat more sensibly and exercise more, but scoffed a large bag of Wotsits this afternoon, so not doing too well

Gingeme · 11/02/2007 21:55

Oh no nicand2 your poor lo. Still atleast it will be over and done with now and theres less chance of lo scratching so that it will leave scars.Wotsits mmmmm.... Im eating as much crap as I can before Wednesday comes. If I remember rightly cheese is a BIG no no and IM realy going to miss it. Your milk is pretty limited too and IM realy going to miss that as I always have a glass of full fat before bed
Took ds3 to see Brum this afternoon. Hadnt told him so it would be a nice suprise. Settled in our seats. Packed theatre. Lights went down. A bit of music and intro. Show started. A guy dressed as a burgler came on. Baddy music and that was it he cried for about ten minutes then I had to bring him out. Didnt see the second half as he wanted to come home.
Oh well try again next year when he is a bit older.

BENDYB · 12/02/2007 09:29

mornin all, how is every1?

pmoore- glad the funeral was ok.

nicand2- sorry 2 hear bout ur lo, hope he's ok.

gingeme- you can have cheese as a healthy extra on slimming world, not much though!
how many wks is ur lo now? just wondered as u mentioned bout giving him some fruit puree, i'm still confused bout weaning, my sisters, mum etc fed their babies at 4 months & seems a lot of people do, but now they say 6months i dunno if i should wait till then, did u feed all ur boys at around 4 months? I've been reading up a lot about it, but i'd just like 2 know what other people are doin??? at the moment ds is having 5 feeds a day of about 7oz sometimes 8 & he seems satisfied with that, he also sleeps all nite so i'm thinkin that while he's like that not 2 start with solids yet???

sorry 4 long post!!

youngmum21 · 12/02/2007 11:19

morning all,

what a weekend lo was really poorly and was irritable all weekend, she didnt want to be put down at all to make matters worse i had a tummy bug yesterday and was running to the loo every few mins then started beeing sick aswell, woke up to day and feeling ok think im just tired!!!

nicand- your poor lo hope he not to irratable with it!!!

pmoore - glad the funeral went ok

nicand2 · 12/02/2007 12:16

Youngmum hope you feel better today.

bendy - i weaned my last lo at 4 months as I couldn't fit any more milk in each bottle but this time round lo is satisfied with 7-8oz and a good sleeper so i'm going to hold off for a while. If you wean before 6 months you are supposed to sterilise the bowls and spoons and any equipment you use which I found was a real pain epecially if I went out so I'm going to see if I can get him to go to 6 months this time.

Lo seems to be coping ok with the pox but he has loads more spots than DS1 he looks like a teenager with really bad acne!

BENDYB · 12/02/2007 13:18

hope ur both ok youngmum,

yeah i think i'm just gonna try & wait till 6months, but if he starts to seem more hungry then i'll start him earlier, what u dont have 2 sterilise anything after 6 months then? just their bottles??

Swizzler · 12/02/2007 13:37

Bendy: the recommendation is to wait till 6 months. I tried W on some baby rice as the HV said he might be ready for some food, but he sicked it back up again so I assume not

nicand2 · 12/02/2007 14:06

After 6 months you don't have to sterilise the bowls or spoons. My HV told me to sterilise bottles for as long as I was using teats as the milk can get stuck in them. Although I did stop sterilising altogether just before DS1 was 1 as he had already licked shoes, cat bowls etc and I couldn't see the point of continuing, he had his milk in a beaker just after he was 1 and now I just bung it all in the dishwasher.

Gingeme · 12/02/2007 20:58

Hi benyb yes I started my boys roughlyaround the same time with weaning. Roughly 4 months. Edwrad is 16 weeks now and enjoying a few sponulls o fruit puree ith his lunch time bottle. He had his last lot of jabs today. He did very well. Thats it now till hes a year old.Remember though its not a garuantee they will slep through if they are not already

Rumpel · 13/02/2007 14:52

Hi All,
Well I spent most of yesterday in the hospital with a suspected clot on my lung! Typical - LO slept all through the night for the first time in ages and I couldn't as I was in pain. Got worse as the morning progressed and then started having probs breathing. Dr came and they whisked me off in an ambulance. Thank the Lordy I am okay though, apart form 2 huge bruises on my belly where they had to inject me with clot busting drugs. Finally got out last night as my blood tests were clear. It seems to have been a combination of osteopathic treatment, a very bad cold and a viral chest infection - LOVELY! Bang goes my exercise and diet until I feel better. My poor DH didn't know what to do - we seem to have spent most of our married life in various hospitals. I missed A kso much when I was in and then DH brought her up to see me last night and I got huge smiles and it just made the pain go away.

How old is everyone elses Lo's now? Amber is 19 weeks this Wednesday. How time flies.

pmoore - did you decide to take your LO to a craniosacral therapist?

Nicand2 - Poor Lo with chickenpox

Re SOLIDS - I gave Amber stewed pureed pear a couple of weeks ago, she enjoyed it, but she is quite happy with just milk again for now. She is scoffing 7ozs plus however much breast milk she manages to sook out!

majormoo · 13/02/2007 16:12

very dramatic rumpel and what a worry! hope you are feeling better.

Is anyone's baby that is only breastfed, sleeping through yet? We had lots of waking for feeds again last night, and am still undecided whether to try letting him cry it out before responding, or whether to just go with the flow for a while.

Have been given some infant gaviscon for his reflux, so fingers crossed I will soon be walking around not covered in vomit from head to toe. GP has suggested weaning him as apparently it can help reduce the symptoms, but need to ask hv first.

my lo fully bf,she slept from 12-7 from 6 days and now sleeps 9pm-9:30am.But i might just have a gd sleeper,my friends babies are all roughly same age as ours and they bf,1 sleeps from 9-5,feeds then sleeps til8am,another feeds every 2-3 hrs even at night and the other sleeps 7-11,feeds then sleep til 4,feeds and sleep til 9ish.

Swizzler · 13/02/2007 17:53

Ha! DS totally breastfed and the longest he's ever gone for is 5 hours - and that seems like a distant memory (sob!). Think it's down to the individual baby, as my sister (formula fed) was just the same (tho she had 2 great sleepers ). It does get depressing when seemingly every other baby is sleeping and yours isn't...

Mellin · 13/02/2007 19:02

My dd is bf and we usually have 2 night feeds. Sleeps from 7pm till around 1 then another feed around 4ish. Usually wakes around 6am which I guess is really counted as another night waking but I can't be bothered to get her back to sleep then so we usually get up. Things got better for us with night wakings a couple of weeks ago when she moved into her own room.

Rumpel I can't believe you sound so calm about a clot on the lung and hospital visit . Hope you are on the mend and back to normal soon

pmoore · 13/02/2007 20:02

Rumpel- I do want to take LO to crainosacral therapist. Got GP appointment tomorrow. Does he have to refer or is a private thing?
All sounds very dramatic- hope you are feeling better.

We have another cold going on here. Apparently they can get up to 20 colds before they are 2.

youngmum21 · 14/02/2007 09:58
