Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Back again Grin

Induction is because I am an old gimmer, highish bmi and t2 diabetic.

So. It's in, it's stayed in, the pains have started (fuck bastard arse they hurt!) I have a desperate need to farting but I feel I need to be far away from everyone before I let rip.

Apparently I have to wait 24 hours before they try and break my waters. I'm hoping that they go in the night Confused

I shall keep you updated...but baby is still very comfy and obviously quite happy!

BeautifulLiar · 22/02/2016 20:12

maybe omg, that's an impressive selection! I'll declutter and you cook? I'm crap at cooking! And like you we barely have any freezer space. Desperate to order an American style fridge freezer but need DH to move the utility shelf so we can actually fit one in...

Battleshiphips2 · 22/02/2016 20:13

Last time I was on these threads was last November. I think missi had just had Zach. I had been in hospital due to placental haemorrhages and told to prepare myself to have ds early. I got to 36 +6 last Thursday and was induced that evening. I gave birth to ds at 5.20pm on Friday and was discharged 5 pm on Saturday. Baby was fine but weighed 9lb 9ozs! I just had episiotomy as I couldn't push his head out but apart from that all was fine. I went from 3cm to 9 cm in the space of a couple of minutes. It was literally less than 5 mins!

Last birth was terrible and a horrendous experience. This one was relaxed and lovely and apart from those final minutes when everything just happened so fast and painfully a totally different and positive experience.

Congratulations to those who have already delivered. Flowers

BeautifulLiar · 22/02/2016 20:21

Ooh hi Paper! Thanks for reminding me why you're being induced :) this is your first baby isn't it?

The breaking waters thing... what if your labour starts though? As in active labour, 4cm+? Then it might be less than 24 hours?!

What did you wear when you got to the hospital and what are you wearing now? Haha sounds like a sex line... but seriously I do NOT know what to pack - I want to stay in my "normal" clothes and attempt to look glam for as long as possible!!

BeautifulLiar · 22/02/2016 20:23

Congratulations Battleships! I just read your post on the other thread too. That was very fast work!! And I can't believe his weight Shock well done you! Flowers

maybebabybee · 22/02/2016 20:25

Battleship that's amazing, congrats on your baby! Lovely to hear you had a nice birth experience.

Beaut I love cooking and hate cleaning/tidying so yes I think a skills swap is in order!!

Am way past the glam stage now I fear, went to shop today wearing DP's coat, alongside my trackie bottoms with a hole in, covered in cat hair. Anything black I own gets covered in cat hair - I've given up trying to staunch it.

BeautifulLiar · 22/02/2016 20:26

I keep veering between being so nervous about the birth I just want to get it over and done with, to wanting to stop wishing it away because I won't ever be pregnant again... aagghh! @

BeautifulLiar · 22/02/2016 20:29

Hahaha "covered in cat hair" that made me laugh!! I'm just trying to do ANYTHING to avoid getting pre/post natal anxiety again so if thinking I look nice when really I'm a waddling short arse works then I'm willing to try! I'm going to get booked in for some Shellac nails and a pedicure next week I think.

IndomitabIe · 22/02/2016 20:31

I'm with maybe in the trackies & cat hair club!

Frankly work are lucky I'm remotely presentable.

ffauxlivia · 22/02/2016 20:36

battleships hello again and congratulations!!! Can't believe how fast that dilation was! Does he have a name yet?

paper ooh fingers crossed for those waters

shieldbug · 22/02/2016 20:48

battleships Many congratulations and glad you had such a positive experience.

paper good luck fellow thread granny! Hope they don't have to break the waters. Thinking of you lots.

38+5 here and no signs of imminent labour. Ds1 was 12 days late and ds2 7 days, so not expecting anything for a while. Have consultants appt on weds and would accept sweep if offered, but tbh, I've had lots in the past and they have never worked.

Me624 · 22/02/2016 21:26

Congrats battleship! What a whopper! Imagine how big he'd have been if you went to full term!

Seriously impressed with your batch cooking maybe. I haven't done any! I think I might stock the freezer with ready meals though ...

Beautiful I've got a pedicure booked for this week! Can't wait, my last bit of pampering before the baby arrives.

Midwife tomorrow, I'm pretty sure baby is engaged now but looking forward to finding out! I can't tell at all from feeling my own belly, I know my placenta is anterior so maybe that makes it harder but when others say they can see a foot or an elbow kicking I never get anything like that. I see big ripples but nothing identifiable!

scaredmum2be · 22/02/2016 22:31

We are home!

Paper good luck!
For me at my hospital I had the first propess at 2:35am Saturday morning. All day Sunday I had regular period like pains. Then Sunday morning at about 3:30 I had a second propess and all day Monday had horrendous period cramps but I could breathe through them and cope then Tuesday morning at 5:45am my waters ruptured and immediate active labour started and by 7:45am I was pushing and then an hour later she was here.
Do not worry about labour paper! You can do this and every single second of pain is worth it when you meet that baby. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

March 2016 babies - 2 here already, many more yet to come!!!
IndomitabIe · 22/02/2016 22:41

Oh look! You've got a real baby! And you're home! Well done scared, and good to see you back here. ThanksWine

The actual having an actual baby bit is starting to seem less real, oddly. I feel as far away from that as I did back in July. So it's really lovely to see pics of the new arrivals.

Octo-baby's been quite quiet today. I keep wondering if I should worry, but he's still moving, and mainly at similar intervals, but it seems less continual than it was all last week, and less violent. But then, I have been on my feet most of the day. So I don't think I have anything concrete to worry about. I expect he'll perk up once I lie down and try to sleep!

scaredmum2be · 22/02/2016 23:10

She has a newborn onesie on their, so big on her. Bless her. We have a few early baby stuff as well but not much so we ordered some more today. Struggling with knowing how much to feed her. She's very sleepy so we have to wake her each time and sometimes she takes up to 60ml and other times only wants 20ml. Plenty of wet and dirty nappies though so not to worried I guess she will take what she needs but th hospital was insistent she should have 35ml min every three hours :/. She seems happy Though.

Indom- I remember always feeling less movements when standing. The movements are the only thing are the only thing I miss about pregnancy actually. I've been getting better sleep with a newborn than I did pregnant and I only peed once last night and none the night before! It's amazing not waking every hour to pee instead I wake every three for baby.

IndomitabIe · 22/02/2016 23:25

Glad you're feeling better! You sound much happier and more confident.

As predicted, octo-baby is now octo-ing around in there as usual.

ffauxlivia · 23/02/2016 00:10

scared look at you, now you're the one giving out advice and encouragement! High Five! You've done bloody marvellously Smile I can't give advice on the feeding but sounds like you are trusting your mama instinct and she's doing just fine! Also time you changed your username don't you think?!

indom I also feel like it's less real now, I just can't believe I have a fully formed baby in there who's probably about the same size as Calais right now. It seems quite abstract still

So how many of you cried when you were handed your baby for the first time, or is it too overwhelming? I am not normally that emotional but I bawl every time I see a birth video or even Call the Midwife, i have a feeling I'll be an emotional wreck if I get handed a healthy baby as I'm so anxious about it all

BeautifulLiar · 23/02/2016 06:47

ffaux I always get emotional watching stuff like that but have never cried when baby was born/handed to me, it's so disappointing!! DH doesn't either (although he never cries) but we do both get very overwhelmed.

indom glad your baby livened up in the end. Mine moved so much on Sunday I think she was just shattered yesterday. I'm another one finding this less real. I just cannot get my head around it. HOW is there a baby in there?!

Me what colour are you thinking for your toes? I can't wait.

scared she's so cute, and it's amazing that you're home already. Another one who thinks you need to change your username though! Wink

I had more nightmares last night, this time about DH cheating on me :( I woke absolutely drenched in sweat, it was so weird/gross!

38 weeks today!

TriJo · 23/02/2016 08:12

What a beautiful little lady Scared - great to see she's home :)

Not gonna lie, there was a bit of an involuntary clench at seeing the size of Battleship's not-so-little one, particularly at 37 weeks. Shock

36+2 here - plodding through my last week at work, cover started yesterday so doing handover too. Can't wait to finish on Friday tbh.

sherazade · 23/02/2016 09:12

another one here who feels that the impending baby is a distant reality and more something that is happening to other people!
scared- I vote you should change your username, you sound so confident and happy! Glad baby is doing well. I'm no expert but I think if she's filling her nappies, gaining weight, happy and developing then just go with the flow.
I'm torn between being FED UP AND SICK TO THE TEETH of being pregnant but also a bit terrified of newborns and sleepless nights. CSC is hard in pregnancy but I personally find it much harder with a newborn because you actually have to be awake and alert, get out of bed to change/comfort if they need rocking/bump and it usually happens the minute you finally fall asleep, as opposed to what I do now which is just lie there feeling sorry for myself.
congrats battleships
hope paper is in the throes of labour (I mean that as nicely as possible) or has a cuddly newborn !

BumpPower · 23/02/2016 09:37

All getting exciting ladies! I'm not sure if this counts me in for CSC but I woke at about 0200 not needing the loo, not in pain (rare as have spd) but wide awake, resisted the urge to get up and do something and eventually got back to sleep.... I know I'm going to look back at waking once in the night as pure luxury but at the mo it's v annoying.
I have a wierd day to myself DS is now recovered from the pox and at nursery (he'll do one day a week while I'm in mat leave) and DH is out. Am torn between napping and reading a book or marching around trying to get bump thinking about his/her exit strategy....

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/02/2016 10:36

Oh Scared Calais is so beautiful and you sound so much happier and more confident. Another vote for changing your name now!

Congrats Battleships! So pleased you had a better labour this time.

I've got an odd day off from work and feeling very proactive. Have screwed the Moses basket stand together, changed bedding, cleaned the blocked washing machine drawer and having a quick sit down before phoning garages to fix flat tyre on car. Only woke once last night with night sweats (yuk) but at least slept rest of the time.
*
Beaut* I snorted at your 'big mucousy ball of plug' comment. Am totally doing the same. Never had this before though. It only came out when I was in the throws of contractions.

Hoping paper had/is close to having baby!!

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/02/2016 10:36

Oops. Bold fail.

Me624 · 23/02/2016 11:46

Just seen the midwife. Disappointingly baby is still only 2/5 engaged! Am 38+4. So doesn't seem like anything will be happening any time soon, though she said some babies don't engage until just before labour.

Also she said he is almost but not quite back to back Sad so I need to spend time on all fours or bouncing on a ball to try and get him to turn round.

Otherwise all seems well. I have another appointment next week at 39+5 but apparently they don't offer sweeps in my area until 41 weeks.

QforCucumber · 23/02/2016 11:49

me oh dear, hope you get him to turn enough.
The difference in trusts is crazy here they do a sweep at 38 and 40 and book for induction for 41.
You'll have to get on some long walks and let gravity do its thing Smile

Feeling lazy today, but craving an egg and bacon baguette from a little sandwich shop locally so will pop out for one shortly. Other than that can't see me doing very much - though am tempted to dig the lawmower out after 2 sunny days!
