Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Just a quick middle of the night Feed update. Will scan through shortly when I get a chance to see the new arrivals.

We finally agreed on a name - Callan. Took me a while to work on dp with it but he finally agreed and loves it just as much as I do Grin. And the wee guy fair suits it I think.

Feeding is going well. My boobs on the other hand are absolutely humongous!! Beautiful no idea on how to make less messy in afraid. I tend to wake with a wet bra, I tuck it under my boob as I feed but tend to leak on to it when he comes off for a rest, wind etc. Is it just me or is anyone else's baby's Constantly pooing? Every single nappy he has had on has been poo'd since birth! I kid you not, last night I took 4 dirty ones off him within 30 minutes Shock.
Had a proper lol moment with him last night when mid change he decided to pee - all over his own face and hair. Bad mummy here couldn't stop laughing. Daddy however was less than impressed. He felt sorry for Callan and then had to change our bed of course as I had been changing him on it Grin so funny!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 06/03/2016 06:40

Glad feeding is going well missdee. I think pooing all the time is pretty normal in the first few weeks, iirc DD pooed quite a bit and its something to do with colostrum being a laxative, so it settles down once your milk stops containing any colostrum (about six weeks maybe?). Are you don't with the horrific meconium poos now? God I'm not looking forward to that!

Afterpains sound awful rhu. I've heard they get worse with each baby - my SIL told me with her third she just cried and thought she was dying! she is a little bit dramatic about things though

How are our other newborns getting on? Would love to hear how things are going!

Not much planned for today - DP offered to take DD to soft play this morning so I can have a break, then we're going for a curry and then will probably chill out at home. Would love a mothers day baby but I think this baby is staying put. I keep over analysing every little niggle or feeling... So last night felt nauseous in bed and googled 'nausea before labour', even though it clearly meant nothing as I've had no other signs and here I am this morning still full of a very comfortable baby not making an appearance!

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 06/03/2016 06:51

I'm doing the same marmite Grin but baby is very comfortable in there!
Lovely name missdee, glad you were able to find something you both love.
Ooh after pains- I have heard these get worse with 2nd babies. I don't think I had them with DD, but was on painkillers anyway for stitches, so maybe that helped. I do have a fear of getting them this time- what can you take or do to help? What's safe if you're BF?
DD has woken up so DH has got up with her as it's Mothers Day...think
he's trying to persuade her to go back to bed for an hour but it's not working Grin

sherazade · 06/03/2016 07:11

marmite that's funny I've been googling 'nausea labour sign' all weekend in the hope that some expert will specify: you nauseous ones will deliver imminently!Grin

Woodenmouse · 06/03/2016 07:39

Brilliant name missdee and I would have laughed if ds had weed on himself too!!

rhu those pains sound awful!

Baby wooden seems to have run out of room, every time I move I feel like I'm being stabbed from the inside by a knee etc. It doesn't look like I'm getting a mothers day baby!

Mil had the bloody cheek to say it was partly my fault I hadn't had him yet. She seemed to think if I really wanted to I could have bought on Labour by now. This woman has had 4 children. Luckily dh told her to stop being ridiculous.

Also Happy mothers day everyone

Missdee2014 · 06/03/2016 07:46

Yeah marmite meconium/tar poos r gone thankfully. I forgot about the constant poo watch for the changes in the early days!

On the subject of after pains - I had them bad with dd2 but this time round haven't had any I don't think. I do feel like my insides may fall out though when I cough, sneeze or even laugh!

Like a maniac I'm lying here wide awake on here and Facebook and Callan is still sound asleep. Was only up once last night at about 4am - he was awake for a good hour n a half right enough feeding on and off.

Happy Mothers Day everyone ThanksBiscuitWineBrew

I'm looking forward to spending mine with my dp and the children. Only visitors allowed today are our parents and we are going to visit Callan's great grandparents so will go a nice walk to see them.

MyNameIsSuz · 06/03/2016 07:50

Happy mothers day everybody! I'm currently sitting in bed with a cup of tea and a packet of kinder choco bons while dh is up with ds, splendid. Reading mothers day threads on here and feeling guilty that we're seeing MIL but not my mum (my mum's an hour and a half away and I just don't want to go that far so close to my due date, feeling very bad though).

I'd kind of forgotten about after pains! I think my worries about recovery have been focused on bleeding nipples and constipation, both of which floored me last time. Have stocked up on lactulose and nipple cream!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 06/03/2016 08:03

Charley both paracetamol and iboprufene are safe if BF, but not aspirin.

suz I wouldn't feel guilty about not going to visit your mum- mine is also an hour and a half away and there no way I was entertaining a visit to see her this close to my due date! We're so faily we aren't even visiting DPs mum who only lives 20 mins drive away! I did ask DP if he wanted to go over there for lunch but he didn't seem bothered and i don't think his family/mum make a big deal of mothers day anyway.

DP got me some nice fudge for mothers day (already eaten some with a cup of tea in bed Smile) and a bizarre but quite cool looking glasses holder which looks like a face with a moustache. I'm always struggling to find my glasses in the morning and knock them on the floor in the morning so he got the glasses holder for me for night feeds. Very random! But a nice thought.

BeautifulLiar · 06/03/2016 08:28

Afterpains - personally for me they're a nasty thing no one talks about. After being so floored by them after having Imogen, I stocked up on paracetamol and ibuprofen ready for when I had Willow (and now Nancy) and they helped. The afterpains this time have been painful but manageable. On the way home from hospital DH was like "you're still contracting?! Oh god poor you..."

Happy Mothers Day everyone :) hope you all get spoilt and/or go into labour.

Btw does anyone else know this is definitely their last baby?

sherazade · 06/03/2016 08:43

beautiful i'm pretty sure this is my last baby, never saw myself with 1 3 never mind 4!

MrsElls · 06/03/2016 08:44

Happy Mother's day everyone, the kids treated me to a 7.30 lie in Smile

beautiful I'm pretty sure there will be no more kids for me, I've got one of each, I don't enjoy being pregnant and I think childcare for 3 would mean I would have to give up work which I don't want to do.

Rosieblossom123 · 06/03/2016 08:45

Happy Mother's Day everyone Flowers

Due date today and no sign of baby yet, really thought she'd be here on Mother's Day Sad

Been having quiet strong BH contractions this morning so will keep an eye on things really hoping something happens soon. So jealous of everyone who had their babies so far they're gorgeous, makes me want mine even more!! Going in for a stretch and sweep tomorrow so we'll see fx!

1frenchfoodie · 06/03/2016 09:07

rosie I'm due today too but don't see it happening, no sign so far. Half my antenatal class have been early so odds are a few us will be after our due dates. Enjoying maternity leave calm so far to be honest so in no mad rush.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 06/03/2016 09:27

If I have my way this won't be my last baby - I've always wanted three - in fact wanted four for a long time till i realised how much of my life being pregnant and raising newborns that would be, plus time off work and the hit on my career! Though I know people will assume if we're having a third that it's because the first two are girls - people have already assumed that I really wanted this to be a boy! Personally I'd be just as happy to have three girls or two girls and a boy. Most people I know, particularly work colleagues, assume this will be my last baby - its not the done thing in my line of work to have more than one or two children but I've always wanted a big family.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 06/03/2016 09:45

Just tried to do a diy cervix check and couldn't feel a thing! Looks like baby is staying put. Also tried to have a little trim down there as (tmi warning) its gotten a bit messy with increased discharge the last couple of weeks, and I cut myself! Ouch Sad. Not gonna try that again in a hurry!

BeautifulLiar · 06/03/2016 10:00

This will be my last. I realised I've spent 3 years being pregnant now!! But it's a strange feeling...

Yay, Nancy's asleep so I'm in bed with her on here/reading some magazines and waiting for my cooked breakfast!

Random question but are nipples sterile?! I'm guessing not so why do dummies etc have to be religiously sterilised? Blush

BeautifulLiar · 06/03/2016 10:01

marmite ouch! Hope you're ok. I shaved my bits while I was having contractions Blush bet they looked a right mess!

RhubarbAndMustard · 06/03/2016 10:23

Ibruprofen and paracetamol do work for the after pains, you just have to keep on top of them as you can def tell when they start to wear off. I didn't always get the next dose on time in hospital because they are so busy.

Suz yes to constipation and cracked bleeding nipples too Confused... But..managed to get two fairly big stints of sleep last night (11-1:30 and 3-5:30) so am feeling pretty refreshed. Jacob has been fast asleep since 8ish and I've had a lazy morning with DP and DS. Just waiting for the midwife. Think Jacob will be my last though (but ask me again in a year or two!)

Beaut you've got me craving a cooked breakfast now! I've had boring bran flakes and apples.

Sorry for adding another photo. I'm besotted Grin

March 2016 babies - 2 here already, many more yet to come!!!
BeautifulLiar · 06/03/2016 10:38

I'm not surprised you're besotted with him Rhu! He's scrumptious.

So weird that he and Nance are birthday twins! She's been asleep a while too. She's actually taken a dummy Shock would be good if she keeps that up just so DH has some options rather than having to give her to me Wink

Midwife has just text saying she'll be here before 11 Hmm ermmm yeh that's not going to work! Aagggh hopefully she can come later...

Trinpy · 06/03/2016 10:54

Happy Mother's Day mums and soon-to-be-mums! Hope you're all getting spoilt today Smile.

No lie-in for me today but I did get a card and box of chocs. Dh is working all day today but has asked my mum to babysit for a couple of hours this morning so I can clean the house have a nice rest. I feel really bad because its her mother's day too but she's been lovely about it and insists its a pleasure Hmm.

Q I think I would have to go very overdue before I start tweaking my nipples to bring on labour! I guess its supposed to work in thee same way the breastfeeding helps your uterus contract after birth? Anyway, pink goo sounds promising, so I hope this is the start of something for you.

Love the name Callan Missdee. Poor baby weeing on himself - hard life being a boy!

marmite its like TTC all over again with driving yourself crazy looking for signs, isn't it? I get hopeful every time I get nauseous then remind myself I get nauseous most days atm, so its unlikely to mean anything, but I'm always hopeful!

Thanks to your mil wooden for the great advice - I didn't realise we all just had to want our babies to come and they would appear. She could save the NHS £££ on inducing overdue babies Wink.

Beautiful dh and I are saying this is our last baby but I'm not sure either of us are 100% on that. I want to take a break for a few years to focus on work, etc and then see how we are money/housing wise after that. At the moment I feel sad about never having another baby but I'm not sure how I feel about doing the pregnancy thing again. I'm the same as marmite though in that I think if we were to have a 3rd that people would assume we would want one of each and I've found all the 'oh no another boy' comments through this pregnancy more upsetting than I thought I would (hormones).

Ouch marmite that sounds painful! You've definitely put me off doing any pre birth maintenance down there myself. Think I might just go for the natural look. Very impressed at Beaut managing to do it in between contractions though Shock.

Lovely photo Rhubarb. He's gorgeous.

I don't remember having bad after pains last time but maybe I've just blanked it out? I took painkillers regularly anyway for the first week or 2 pp so that probably helped too. Really hope its not worse this time.

Those of you who've had 2 or more babies, is it just as painful/ uncomfortable when your milk comes in as with your first? I know some if you were talking about getting the massive boobs yesterday and for some reason I'd been assuming that it wouldn't be as bad the second time around Confused. Do I need to dig out the breast pump ready?

magpiedreams · 06/03/2016 11:28

Happy Mothers Day March Board!

Yes...afterpains; after my first I used to wonder what on earth people were going on about with these as I didn't get a sniff of it. Then after #2 I was like oooooh, ouch ouch ouch every time I fed I was in agony for a couple of days. I'm really reading it this time. As above, paracetamol and ibuprofen really helped.

trin I recall the milk coming in being similar second time round but I was more prepared and less weirded out so it felt more manageable.

beaut do you wear a sleep bra? I used to go for a well fitting sleep bra and washable breast pad plus a disposable each side. Also, 'breast shells' (possibly made by avent?) can catch all the drips from the side you're not feeding from - and if you can be bothered you can tip that milk into sterile container and gradually it builds up for the freezer! (My friend once left the shell full of milk in her bedside table tho and found her cat lapping it up Shock)

indom hope you're not quarantined with the cough and get your chessy chips.

I think nipple stimulation needs to be ongoing for HOURS to make anything happen, not sure if anyone can face that?? Anyone DTD to get things moving? We managed yesterday and I'm thinking of trying every couple of days in the hope of building up the prostaglandins and so I can tell DH for the next several months to think back on the good times pre baby as he wont be getting any

We're off out for lunch as DH thankfully realised that I've been catering his DPs all weekend and Mother's Day lunch would've tipped me over the edge! Plus they're going home straight after Grin. DD's card has a picture of me with a dark green face, not sure how she sees me...it's very cute though.

Woodenmouse · 06/03/2016 11:29

I think this is my last baby. I'm not a massive fan of being pregnant tbh. I love motherhood and I'm grateful that I'm able to get pregnant but it just doesn't agree with me!! I'll probably get broody again at some point though!!

trinpy I know of mil had shared this secret years ago everyone would have theor children on their due date!!

I had one massive contraction type pain earlier which was long and strong!! I was super excited bit I havnt had a single twinge since!!

IndomitabIe · 06/03/2016 12:01

Beaut that sounds like what I'm imagining my first week post-partum! Glad to see it can be a reality!

I guess the nipples vs dummies thing is that your nipples are colonised by "good" bacteria that would out-compete any "bad" bacteria, whereas a dropped dummy would be a sample of whatever mixture was on the floor (or whatever). Also, there's the antibodies & good bacteria in breastmilk (that wouldn't be found in formula milk or on a dummy).

And, i suppose if manufacturers tell you to sterilise you can't sue them if you don't and your baby gets ill.

Rhu, I swear that baby's got cuter! Keep posting the pics! Grin

Thanks for thinking of moany old me, magpie! Yes, DH & DS produced breakfast in bed before DH headed out (DS did all the writing in the card he made at school, it's deffo a keeper!). I've prepped potatoes for tea (and, randomly, made a bunch of cheese/ham sandwiches and put them in the freezer - think I read it on the life hacks thread and it seemed like a good idea!) and we're now at soft play. DS is looking quite coldy, but is bombing around regardless, while I attempt to mark mock papers instead of mumsnetting!

Crispylicious · 06/03/2016 13:08

Aww dobby! Congrats! I'm loving seeing all these babies arrive. And rhu what a cutie. Amazing hair!

I didn't get any after pains with no 1, but sounds like I'd better be prepared with no 2!

marmite I too attacked the lady garden today! It's not up to my normal standards, but slightly better than totally au natural. I really want DH to have a go at it, but he won't bastard

q the nipple stimulation thing is meant to work, but I think only successfully if you're favourable. DD still has the odd feed and I've def been getting mild contractions when she feeds. If I go overdue, may whack her in the boob 24/7!

beaut this is very likely to be our last baby. I feel stupidly lucky to even be having him, as DD was IVF and this one is a miracle conception! I always wanted 3 now want 4, but I very much doubt we'd conceive again and also couldn't really afford another. In the last few days I've started to think Oo I'll never be preggers again, but am much less wistful about it than I was last time. Bet I still feel jealous of pregnant ladies though once this one is out!

I'm impressed at all the sleeping the newborns are doing! Amazing! We were told to feed DD every 2 hours night and day. No way this time am I waking the baby to feed, unless he's poor birth weight etc.

Hope you're all having lovely mothers days. We're off out for cake later, yum!

BeautifulLiar · 06/03/2016 13:08

Ooh Indom I used to batch make ham sandwiches for DS' pack up! They were fine.

Soooo the midwife has been, apparently Nancy has jaundice and new guidelines mean we have to take her to hospital for a blood test. The hospital is 20 miles away and we've got all the kids and it's mothers day :( she's gonna hate this!
