clara I haven't done that yet, I need to check the ages of the buggy part as he will be out growing the carry cot very very soon, I still use the car seat for school run etc as it is a lot quicker when we are in a rush but planning some days out and don't want him in the car seat all day for those.

liberty the leg flop thing sounds horrific at that time of night! What is she sleeping in?

We have jab no.3 today so planning a nice quiet day, unfortunately the appointment is not until lunchtime so if he responds in the same way as he has to the others his worst grumpiness will be on the school run.

LibertyBelles · 25/05/2016 09:48

clumsy in a sleeping bag!

We're in the seat part cos DD grew out of the carrycot at about 12 weeks and our seat lies flat and is suitable from birth anyway

Troika · 25/05/2016 09:57

Aaah I shouldn't have posted about sleep, last night was horrific!

clumsypots · 25/05/2016 10:18

liberty is it the sleeping bag she doesn't like? If she sleeps better during the day not in her sleeping bag? Just a thought sorry if you have already tried it.

Oh no troika! Have a restful day if you can.

LibertyBelles · 25/05/2016 14:03

Ah troika poor you.

clumsy good idea but no she does it during the night even not in the sleeping bag unfortunately

haquoi123 · 25/05/2016 14:31

Oof troika, what happened? And I've pmd you, thanks!
clara were about to swap over - the seat isn't suitable until 6 months but he's big enough and hopefully it'll be ok if I keep him flat. I'm having to eke the last possible use out of the carrycot though as the hood on the seat is broken and I'm talks with baby jogger about it :s

clarabellski · 25/05/2016 21:44

Thanks everyone. Similar story here - running out of room and ds also very nosy, but he is not really 'ready' if you go by manufacturers guidelines for our system (bugaboo)...ah well, will reassess around 4 months I think.

cudbywestrangers · 25/05/2016 22:11

Maybe she's trying to figure out rolling liberty????

LibertyBelles · 25/05/2016 22:56

cud yeah she can do front to just not other way round

clumsypots · 26/05/2016 14:21

I had the strangest dream this morning, I was having my hair cut by jay from tattoo fixers (go figure) and while he has cutting my hair he kept twiddling my one nipple, dream clumsy was very confused and kept trying to get away from him and ended up walking out of the salon with half my hair cut. When I woke up I realised it was because ds was feeding Grin

Hope everyone is having a good day, ds seems to be really struggling with the last lot of jabs, he keeps screaming and wants constant cuddles. On the plus side they did open another till in the post office after he had been screaming for while.

NorthernChinchilla · 27/05/2016 16:13

Hi all, been a busy few days here. Spent Monday in work, and Thursday at the hospital for an appointment to check out a dodgy mole. The mole was fine, but the hospital was over 20 miles away, which is great when you have a baby and don't drive... Hmm

We're still using the 'basinette' (is that what it's called, the moses basket bit for the pram) for DD. DS used it for ages as he liked to sit upright in it, surrounded by toys, and survey his dominions Grin Not very safe, on reflection, but we'll see if DD likes it. She's trying to roll, desperately, and is in that amusing stage where they get stuck.

How's the last few nights been Troika?

Hope everyone's got some plans for the BH weekend...I've found out that there's a Chelsea (Flower Show) Fringe on at a castle near us and I'm rather determined to go....

clarabellski · 28/05/2016 23:25

Bbq tomorrow as weather is good (in Scotland you take it where you can get it!).

Think ds is hitting the 4 month sleep regression thing at 3 months. The past week and a bit has been really trying for my dh who normally does the bedtime routine. Previously that routine consisted of plonking ds in his cot with a kiss goodnight with ds falling asleep in a few minutes. It's now a good half hour of blue in the face screaming followed by 15 minutes of whimpering followed by sleep. A couple of nights I had to take over but dh was worried that he couldn't get ds to settle without my help and so has persevered on his own the past couple of nights.

We are going to take bedtime in turns now that dh feels he is able to get ds to sleep without my help. Hoping we head back in the direction of a happier wee baby at bedtime or at least a shorter amount of screaming time!

HandbagFan · 30/05/2016 19:24

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend. I'm just waiting for my curry after managing evening feed and bath time alone. Luckily DS loves the bath and smiles as soon as he's put in.

First 3-6m outfit today, at 14 weeks. Tipped over the 6kg mark too this week (13lbs). Dribbling like mad and fists constantly in his mouth.

Has anyone got a view on jumperoos and bumbos at this age? He's held his own head up since birth (people comment on it) and he is really interested in the world around him. I've read good and bad things about them but I'm mostly concerned about whether it would be too early or not...

clarabellski · 30/05/2016 22:41

Thought I'd killed the thread there handbag! Forgot it was bank holiday though...Are more people just using facebook now?

I know what you mean re holding the head strongly. DS does this too, which makes me think he's ready for things like moving into the buggy, but really he is still a wee baby and doesn't really have the finer control necessary for the more advanced toys.

Never heard of a bumbo? I don't think I'd pay the money for a jumperoo...We've been given one of those swing things from my cousin. It's bloody massive and DS largely ambivalent about it so far...He seems happiest lying under his jungle gym or just on a mat/in a chair staring around at the world. His favourite toy so far is a stripy cushion we have on our couch (!).

We are on day 3 of diarrhoea here Sad. He is neither up nor down with it but he has a wee red bottom the poor lamb. First time I've had to dig out the sudocrem. He had his second round of rotovirus vaccine on Friday there so think it must be related to that...

HandbagFan · 30/05/2016 22:59

A bumbo's basically a plastic seat you can put them in and it holds them in place -
Bumbo 3-in-1 Multi Seat (Red) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00YTW4D58/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9Bltxb88WT5Z7

I think he's bored between his playmat and swing chair, and he spends too long each day in his bouncy chair. We'll probably not too long, I just don't like feeling he's stuck in it. I use it while I pump, or am in the kitchen fixing lunch, and when he gets bored of being held/on his playmat.

Basically I'm looking for more things for him to play with even though my living room looks like a bomb site of brightly coloured plastic already!

clumsypots · 30/05/2016 23:46

handbag I got some fabric blocks with mirrors and animals on from Traci in the sale ds loves knocking them down and staring at them. He also loves being on the recovery blanket (silver thing they give runners after a race) as it crinkles and he can see his reflection in it when we put him on his front. Only £1 from chemist.

clara hope ds feels better soon

haquoi123 · 31/05/2016 09:45

Awesome ideas clumsy - I looked up traci but couldn't find anything. Is that a typo?

clara we've just moved ds into the buggy, which isn't supposed to be suitable for until 6 months but he's completely put of the bassinet and hates the car seat! He seems to be ok in the pram, if a little unsupported... But hopefully ok.

We've had masses of family around this bank holiday, it's been mental and stressful (both DH and I always need a debriefing week after FiL visits...) as well as having a lovely bbq with other family yesterday. I did end up decamped in my bedroom with dsthough, just to have a break. It was a tough day, lots of ds1 flashbacks. Going to relax today!

clumsypots · 31/05/2016 10:22

Sorry half asleep this morning I meant to say Tesco oops

haquoi123 · 31/05/2016 10:23

Hahahahaha! Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 31/05/2016 16:29

I will now think of Tesco's as Traci... Grin

DD is also a bit of a 'mare to settle at the moment, and is clearly going through one of the big developmental jumps: in the past four/five days she's suddenly staying awake at least two hours each time (did a three hour stretch yesterday) and keeps on trying to roll over. She's so nearly there, just gets stuck at the last bit!

Hope DS gets better clara, that sounds unpleasant for him, though at least he's not unwell with it.

Dribble city here too handbag, think we'll have to get the dribble bibs out again as she's soaking her onesies. I've been thinking about the bumbo pretty soon, as DD likes sitting up to survey the world.

cudbywestrangers · 31/05/2016 19:27

We have a rolling baby!!! Has done front to back a few times today Grin

Hope you all had lovely bank holiday weekends.

Hope the diarrhoea settles soon Clara
Good work on solo bedtime handbag hope the curry was good...
Hope you're ok after the weekend haq and have some down time fixed
These leaps suck don't they northern

Aside from the excitement of rolling we had a pretty busy weekend. Met with friends on Saturday, church and swimming Sunday then my sister came yesterday so we headed out to see trains at a transport heritage place! My mum arrived Sunday evening as well so lots going on!

Babycud had 16 week jabs this morning so has been pretty miserable this afternoon, poor little thing. Just done last dose of calpol and trying to settle him. Think we're also in a developmental leap, difficult to settle and only napping for 30 minutes at a time. Think it's wonder week leapp 4 which seems to be a long one... Sad

clarabellski · 31/05/2016 22:25

Excuse my ignorance, What is wonder week leap 4?

cudbywestrangers · 31/05/2016 22:54

One of my friends put me onto it. Somebody has come up with a theory that babies go through development leaps at predictable times and these leaps make their sleep go wonky as well as them being generally grumpy. Once they're through the leap they are happy and contented again as well has having some new tricks. Suspect the notorious 4 month sleep regression is the one we're in at the moment but fortunately it's affecting daytime more than night time at the moment...

I had the app before my phone broke and it does seem to work. Think there is a book as well. Google probably has the answers!

clumsypots · 31/05/2016 23:31

Yay baby cud we love rolling!

Having such a busy week I am so tired, still haven't managed to shift this cold so feeling horrific and my back is completely in bits. Had 8 needles today and completely taped up but it hasn't made any difference going to try and get into the Drs tomorrow and see if I can take anything other than paracetamol for the pain. I've also shot myself in the foot with rainforest cake as dd wants to do something awesome for this weeks project. Any ideas for presenting a Roman Emporer anyone?

I've heard about these developmental leaps and think they could explain a lot, my one friend swears by them explaining everything so I just ask her hehe.

Out of curiosity has anyone else suddenly dropped several feeds, ds is down to 5-6 now. He is also trying to steal my food when he is sat on my lap, not sure we are going to last not weaning until 6months as I'm sure he will have mastered the art of the quick swipe by then Hmm

NorthernChinchilla · 01/06/2016 09:45

Urgh, what a night. At least an hour to settle; slept OK, 10-3, then furtling/feeding/awake til 4.30, sleep till 5.30, feed and furtle, then sleep till 8/8.30 ish.
Hurry up and roll child, and while you're at it, settled down into your next pattern, please!!
