Troika it's good to know someone else has a similar baby in terms of sleeping.

I have the same thing with weight, DD was born really big (10 pounds 2) and didn't get back to birth weight until 6 weeks. Weigh in tomo (9 weeks) so hoping she's going to be big....

NorthernChinchilla · 03/04/2016 19:37

Sadly, lots of people can't be relied upon to make pleasant comments or ask nice questions. Saying how beautiful a baby is, or how well they're growing, or what lovely eyes they have, etc, fine. Don't deviate! That comment about the farmer maisie, wtaf?

Stressful morning here- we had my family coming, and at half 8, 9ish I gave DD to OH saying I just wanted another half hour. 11.45 I'm woken to the sound of my family arriving....
OH had just sat downstairs for 2.5 hours, dozing/messing around on phone. Not only had he not got me up, he'd not even got himself and DS washed or dressed ffs, let alone get us ready for going out for lunch. DS was just in front of the TV all morning, as per....
We then had to rush around madly getting showered and dressed and sorted. I hate being late for stuff and hate I can't rely on OH to do the most basic family management on his own. He said the time got away from him. I pointed out his phone, watch, the clock in the living room and the two in the kitchen....Angry

Our sainsburys babygros have short legs and long arms. Or our baby has the opposite! I found next stuff a good fit. My friend works there and got us a load of babygros! Asda also seemed good proportion wise. M and s really wide!!!

haquoi123 · 03/04/2016 22:09

Thanks all for the info on clothes!

chinchilla Angry that's annoying. Did your family understand? But was the sleep worth it?

Fx for the weight gain liberty

haquoi123 · 04/04/2016 08:47

Bubs slept from 10pm to 2.30am and then until 5.15 am when I woke up with melons strapped to my front, stood over the baby until I saw a glimmer of an eye opening and swooped on him ... Cue a 5.30am expressing mission of both boobs after bubs fell asleep feeding. Lots of lovely sleep though!! Grin

How are things going with you guys?

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 08:52

Wow well done haq - DD wouldn't settle in her basket last night but was ok once she was in with us

Troika · 04/04/2016 10:54

Good sleeping haquoi! Dd was pretty good last night too. Self settled in crib around 930, woke at 1230 when dd1 got stuck in bathroom and was shouting for help. Was then awake til 230 ish but then went back down in crib til 5.15. She then fell asleep feeding but I realised she was soaked through so had to do a full change. Thankfully she fell back asleep from 615 til 845 in dps vacated bedspace.

Also had some lovely grins from her this morning Grin

Currently have ds sucking my finger frantically while we wait for health visitor who is nearly half an hour late... Would have ordinarily put him in sling to calm him but didn't because thought hv would be here by now and he needs to get nekid for weight! Gah......

HandbagFan · 04/04/2016 11:26

I love the grins! It's his new trick and makes me forgive a lot from him!

Just as I thought he was going to start making it through the night, he's started waking up more. Went to bed about half eleven after a bottle and nappy. Up at 3 for the same then again at 6 then another round just after 8 and yet again at 10! And another dirty nappy since then too. Not sure if it's the six week growth spurt but it's just as we got used to a little routine!

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 12:07

Weigh in was ok - on 50th centile at 11pounds 3 - gp tomo for 6 week check which were getting at 9 weeks.... Hmm

So jealous of others sleep, I simply can't imagine DD ever sleeping more than 2-3 hours ATM Confused

haquoi123 · 04/04/2016 12:32

Aww clara, poor bubs! I rang up our hv when she was late once, didn't realise it was part of the culture :s

Lovely sleep troika, those nights are golden aren't they? DH is on half term so I gave him the babe and had an another half hour. It's been a lazy day.

That sounds like ds2's usual routine handbag. Exciting that he's almost at sleeping through though

The grins are lovely aren't they? I don't get too many with bubs but they're increasing slowly. He just looks shocked at us when we try to make him smile! Hilarious.

Great news liberty, that's a lovely weight! Best of luck for tomorrow. Mine was really useful although got to wait until May for the follow up...

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 13:07

Thanks haq!

Don't get many smiles here, she's been doing them since quite early though - about 4/5 weeks - anyone else the same (you can tell I'm a panicky ftm!!)

clumsypots · 04/04/2016 13:12

DS is now generally sleeping from 12-5.30 6ish which is lovely, last night DH kept me awake all night tossing and turning and stealing the duvet, I am not happy!

We are getting lots of grins and giggles and he is trying to roll over, he gets fully into his side both sides but not all the way yet.

clara how did the health visitor go? I hope she wasn't too late!

HandbagFan · 04/04/2016 13:38

Anyone had their 6wk check up a.ready and want to share what to expect? We have ours on Wednesday - I also have one in two weeks with the consultant who lead my c-section because I'm classed as having had a traumatic birth, but when the appt came through for both of us with the GP I felt it was easier to go with the flow. I can use the consultant appt to talk about stuff like my oddly shaped uterus and what to expect if we have a second.

What does the appt cover for mum and baby? And if anyone's had a c section do they check the scar?

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 13:49

I've got mine tomorrow handbag I'll report back

clumsypots · 04/04/2016 13:56

handbag mine was very straightforward, she asked if I had any problems in going to the toilet, whether I was still bleeding etc. how I was feeling mentally and if I felt I was coping with everything. She asked questions about breastfeeding and we discussed contraception and the problem with my fingers and blood and that was it. There was no physical exam but I didn't have a c-section so they may check that. It felt more like an informal chat than a Drs appointment.

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 13:59

clumsy what do they measure in terms of baby?

clumsypots · 04/04/2016 14:32

They didn't do anything with the baby it was just about me, I thought they would but I had a health visitor appointment straight after which did head measurement, length and weight.

At ds's 8 week check she checked hips, chest, head soft bits (I can't remember the right word), checked his head control and his birth mark. She also checked his eyes and asked if I was worried about his hearing (eg does he startle with the sound of the vacuum) does his eyes follow you around the room and does he move his head to both sides. But as I say that was a separate appointment, i don't know if your trust may do them both at the same time

LibertyBelles · 04/04/2016 14:43

Thanks clumsy yeah we've got them both at the same time

clarabellski · 04/04/2016 18:05

HV turned up about ten minutes after my post, phew!

Check went fine. He is now 10lb12, which is around 50th percentile apparently, and 58cm long (when he was measured 3 weeks ago, he was 53cm long, so he has grown 5cm in 3 weeks - mental!!!!!!).

Next thing is our 6 week check, at 8 weeks liberty (they prefer you to see the lady GP so a bit of a wait). But hopefully I'll have had my gynecology appointment before then to get restitched, as it is getting in the way of walking, standing long periods and, most importantly, sex! Wink

haquoi123 · 04/04/2016 22:26

GP checked soft, hard and dangly bits with baby and chatted to me about all the questions I had. He didn't examine me as he said it was best not to rush it so I've had to make another appointment, but the soonest was May! HV tomorrow so will see what growing he's done in 5 days! It's ridiculous, he's on his second full boob in an hour and still gobbling down. Yet another growth spurt Shock

Glad the hv turned up clara and all is well with your sprouting baby!!! I second the need to get down and dirty, but I still feel quite bruised down there and have gone off the idea :( has anyone actually had intercourse (bloody hell my phone did not like that word took about 8 goes!)?

How are your hands clumsy?

clumsypots · 04/04/2016 22:36

haq yes 1st time was quite uncomfortable but second time was much better Grin

Fingers are ok most of the time but were agony after the gig Saturday, should go back to the docs really but want a bit of a break from hospitals and Drs to be honest.

Glad hv went on clara

HandbagFan · 05/04/2016 03:43

raises hand

We did the deed just over a week ago. Different for me as the bits are still in tact having never gone into labour and having had a section but I was a little anxious about bursting stitches etc. Was fine, if a little underused. We were active up til 41 weeks but it was six weeks with nothing so things were a little (ahem) tight...

haquoi123 · 05/04/2016 09:01

Haha, clumsy and handbag, thanks for that! See technically I only had a superficial tear but it was so sore we couldn't get it past the entrance! I've been too put off to try again and am leaking urine (oh the glamour) which makes me feel extra unsexy!

Sorry to hear about your fingers clumsy. It is all a bit much really, isn't it? Speaking of that, hv today!

HandbagFan · 05/04/2016 09:11

Leaking urine, milky swollen boobies, the times you don't know if the baby smells of poo or if that's on you, crying at the tv, feeling like a success if you manage a shower, being pinned to the sofa feeding... All of this should be included in sex education classes at school. Can't imagine any of the girls would be going anywhere near a willy if they knew the results!
