Hahahahaha!! Too true handbag Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 05/04/2016 11:52

We've had all our appointments. GP 6 week appointment was really all about DD, but got contraception sorted for me. DD weighed and measured by nurse. Had HV yesterday, that was more focused on me- feelings, etc. My c-section scar hasn't been checked since the bandage came off, but I've not had any issues.

Clara, did you say your DC has a birthmark? DD has one too, like a blotchy tea stain on her thigh, it's a new one on me.

One thing that has really annoyed me us that after my GP appointment, reception booked DD in for her jabs. When I looked at the date when I was home (was juggling too much at the time) it was for this Monday just gone. DD was six and a half weeks.
I was a bit suss so raised this with reception when I took her yesterday, and they confirmed there was no way she should be having them early Shock Angry
So it could have potentially been harmful, and if I'd not raised it, they would have gone ahead....

MaisieDotes · 05/04/2016 12:55

DS had his 2 month vaccinations this morning- he's 9 weeks today.

I was convinced he was going to do one of his explosive poos on the table. That hasn't happened so far, but it's only a matter of time!

He was very well behaved all round, bless him.

MaisieDotes · 05/04/2016 13:00

My weight loss has totally stalled since I've stopped breastfeeding and taken up drinking wine.

So I'm starting my new regime today and currently eating porridge with grated apple.

Porridge made with water is a a bit miserable

Although I do know that with water is the Proper Way.

HandbagFan · 05/04/2016 14:37

Northern - that's quite worrying! Thank goodness you checked. We have his vaccinations booked for when he'll be just over 8wks.

Maisie I've stalked on weight loss too but I was back to my (large) pre-pregnancy weight 12 days after birth then lost another 8 pounds quite quickly. I'm expressing so should still be losing but I think the constant biscuits might be responsible for that!

clarabellski · 05/04/2016 15:20

Ewww maisie, water??? I can only do it with milk! Wink

Chinchilla yes on his foot. Doc called it Mongolian blue spot! Should fade as he grows older.

NorthernChinchilla · 05/04/2016 17:39

Ooh, I've heard of those! I'm going to call DD's that too, as it sounds so cool.

I have porridge with milk and half a teaspoon of sugar and some cocoa to make it chocolatey cos I'm a child too, don't think I could do water maisie. You're hardcore!

clumsypots · 05/04/2016 18:09

maisie that sounds grim! I need to try and stop eating the crap but water porridge Envy (that is not envy)

northern DS has a strawberry birthmark on his back which is lumpy and keeps getting bigger. Dr said it should start to disappear when he is 5.

We have the hv tomorrow and got to take DD with me so that will be endless questions and the hv will hate me...on the plus side I may not have to go back so often Grin

LibertyBelles · 05/04/2016 18:31

Most pointless appointment with GP ever! Spent 30 seconds asking me if I was depressed and then check DDs heart, hips, reflexes and eyes - that was it. No measuring of her height or head circumference or anything. I'm a bit disappointed, I wanted to know how long she was

HandbagFan · 05/04/2016 19:32

Liberty - I've wanted to know length too. Apparently they don't measure them in my neck of the woods. Despite all the forms and the red book having sections for it...

clumsypots · 05/04/2016 19:43

liberty the length was measured at the 6 week hv check not with the Dr so they may do it at your next appointment

LibertyBelles · 05/04/2016 19:46

I've not had a hv appointment since day 5....

clumsypots · 05/04/2016 20:10

Oh... Do you have to ring and book them through your gp? I have to book my own in, how old is your little one now?

clarabellski · 05/04/2016 20:15

I ate half a tub of mini flapjacks from m and s today. I have dveloped a ridiculous sweet tooth which I think is boredom related. Any ideas how to wean myself off? Other than water porridge? What do you all snack on during the day?

haquoi123 · 05/04/2016 20:38

Cake. And more cake. And chocolate. And posh fizzy drinks. I am also a sweet tooth fiend. No diet just yet although I definitely need to cut down. 3 cakes a day average is not sustainable!

maisie my sister is a water porridge fan through choice!! Surely a bit of milk couldn't do it any harm. My DH is into almond milk and it really works in porridge.

liberty that's strange about your hv... Shouldn't you get more regular checks? I'd ring them and chase up.

haquoi123 · 05/04/2016 20:39

Oh, clara bananas, they're almost as good as cake for me. Almost.

HandbagFan · 05/04/2016 23:03

I had the HV on day five then week five and next time is after a year unless I call them. But I can see one at the weekly clinic if I take DS to get weighed...

NorthernChinchilla · 06/04/2016 07:18

I tend to run on sugar free Vimto clara, in pregnancy and for bf. Keeps your fluids up, you get the 'sweet' taste, no calories and there's the theory that often we're not hungry but thirsty, though I've no idea how true that is.
I know when I had DS it was Christmas and I ate soooooo many clementines and chocolates! Easter hasn't been quite as bad in that respect.

LibertyBelles · 06/04/2016 09:10

clumsy I see them at the weigh ins but no appointments. I'll talk to them after the 12 week weigh in (DD is 9 weeks ATM) because I've rung them before and they said they'd ring me back and never did... So can't be bothered to do that again

LibertyBelles · 06/04/2016 09:12

clara yeah I second fruit, esp dried fruit which is really sweet-mix it with choc drops to make it a bit naughty

birdbrain21 · 06/04/2016 10:25

Well at 10 weeks I finally got dd dressed and braved a mummy coffee morning. It was someone I don't know so well who invited me so was really nervous ut was actually lovely to go and have an adult chat. It's held at different people's house every week and a big age range of babies so everyone is different and I didn't feel the odd one out everyone was feeding at different times as well so wasn't awkward to bf her which I was very nervous about!
Have dd1 home today as we've cut down her nursery hours amd it's pouring with rain so all my super mum plans of shopping and trips to the park with both of them by myself are out the window and busy trying to come up with exciting entertainment for her at home

haquoi123 · 06/04/2016 11:45

Reading your healthy snacks posts while eating my first cake of the day ... Will try the dried fruit, I'm terrible!

Lovely birdbrain! I usually hate socialising but I'm loving it at the mo and that sounds like a particularly nice arrangement :)

cudbywestrangers · 06/04/2016 13:43

Have to say I've been snacking on biscuits and chocolate and cake. I also need to try and have more healthy food. But definitely no porridge of any sort! Hmmmm.....

Survived jabs yesterday Smile babycud was awake almost all day (jabs not to blame as they were at 4:30!) And really wasn't happy by bedtime, but then slept 11:30 to 6:30! Was mostly awake and happy until 10 and has been asleep again ever since!!!!! Just hoping he will be asleep while i'm in the swimming pool with ds1 this afternoon...

cudbywestrangers · 06/04/2016 13:46

Coffee morning sounds good birdbrain

I was desperately trying to find someone to do coffe and cake with yesterday but they were all busy Sad

LibertyBelles · 06/04/2016 13:54

Naps have gone to s.... today - she won't sleep for more than 15 mins in catnaps gah!!! Angry
