They sound very similar handbag I think he's going to be long and slim! Some of the babies do sound big but I suppose it all depends on birthweight too. We have just moved into 0-3 as he was poking his little fingers out of newborn and scratching his face.

Think ds had a bit of a cold too though more snuffly than snotty! He's also smiling more now I just love it!

haquoi123 · 01/04/2016 18:03

Really glad your dd is doing better clumsy!

Hi again maisie

rufus your poor baby! Ds is just moving into 3-6 clothes but some 0-3 still just fit him. He's got a reusable nappy bum though so that makes it harder to find ones that fit.

handbag I'm getting the opposite worry that my baby is too big! It's the first thing everyone says (not that he's too big, just that he's big). He's not chubby, it's all length and muscle, apart from his face but that normal. I'm obv very proud of how he's doing is just hard not to get a complex when it's all everyone talks about! (not you guys, rl people)

chinchilla ds and I are thinking about creating musician friendly toy music! Gah!

My vagina felt horribly itchy and sore today, not like thrush but like it had split again. I'm not convinced that my urethra didn't tear... Might try to make an emergency appointment next week, not sure I can wait until May (the next available appointment with a female Dr ShockAngry)

haquoi123 · 01/04/2016 18:06

And I am currently attempting that elusive daytime nap - bubs is firmly attached to the nipple instead, gums, claws and all!!!

haquoi123 · 01/04/2016 18:07

Sorry clara, meant to respond to you as well, sorry you have to go through that a again! When are you going?

Anyone heard from mawsy? How're you doing?

clumsypots · 01/04/2016 18:28

haq we will be your first customers!! Please please do this soon!!!!

clarabellski · 01/04/2016 20:56

Babies come in all shapes and sizes, don't worry about what people say! If they are healthy then it's all good x

Haq I'm not sure yet. My gp said she would try to get me an appointment urgently but I have no idea what the waiting time is like.... I hope your pee pipe is ok!!! May is ridiculous!

MaisieDotes · 01/04/2016 21:54

I also worry about DS2's size. People do exclaim over his size too much I feel.

I'm a bit weary of it as I've just spent the last year and a half hearing about and worrying over DS1's size too. He's still very tall for his age.

I had a friend over this afternoon with her baby and she kept mentioning DS2's size. I was a bit upset when she went.

haquoi123 · 02/04/2016 08:55

That's annoying maisie. I had someone who met ds2 and who had just had a baby born in her family. The baby was something like 7lb at birth so when she remarked that ds2 was bigger than she had expected I said that the baby in her family probably wouldn't match his size at this age because he had so much of a head start on his birth weight. She was actually relieved and said she was glad!! Excuse me?! A thoughtless comment.

Is anyone's baby really really noisy at night? He's constantly groaning, grunting, growling, yelping, clearing his throat, he'll be flailing around bashing the mattress - all while soundly asleep and he won't cry for ages. Eventually all the movement wakes him up. It's mainly when sleeping on his back. The noise doesn't bother me (dad's a snorer), just wondering if it's ok?!

HandbagFan · 02/04/2016 09:56

haquoi Yup. He snorts, snores, squeaks, growls, all sorts. He's also discovered he can reach out and rub the side of the snuzpod so there's a scratching sound too. He doesn't seem to wake himself up doing it but he does it whether he's asleep or not for about 30 mins after we put him down.

Between him and my snoring DH it's so much fun at bedtime!

clumsypots · 02/04/2016 10:13

haq yes he does, if he is not grunting or wriggling and being generally noisy it makes me paranoid and I have to check he is still breathing.

haquoi123 · 02/04/2016 10:14

Oh phew, thanks handbag!

cudbywestrangers · 02/04/2016 10:34

Aaaargh! Have come down with the nasty virus that dh has had all week. And it's ds1 birthday tomorrow Sad really hope it passes soon and the kids don't get it... at least we had a good night.

Babycud is noisy at night too which is the main reason dh goes in the spare room. I spend far too long wondering whether he's noisy because he's hungry or just noisy!

I Ignore all the comments about size. I think people are just trying to think of something to say. As long as they're healthy and growing it really doesn't matter!

MaisieDotes · 02/04/2016 11:26

cud yes absolutely. My friend just got to me because she's still breastfeeding (which I'm not- not through choice) and she is very much an advocate of attachment parenting- only uses a sling, no pram, baby is doing elimination communication and does wees and poos in the loo since birth Hmm etc.

I just felt she was looking down on my big formula-fed giant baby! Of course I love my big formula-fed giant baby very much so I don't care what she thinks much !

It's all tied into my own guilt/ sadness about BFing going wrong, I do know that. I wish I could still be breastfeeding like she is! Anyway I'm not so I need to move on!

One of the things she said was that DS2 "has a real farmer look about him" which really hurt my feelings.

clumsypots · 02/04/2016 14:24

maisie she sounds rather sanctimonious, I know ignoring is easier said than done but you have a beautiful healthy baby that loves you very much and that is what matters

cudbywestrangers · 02/04/2016 15:17

Aaawwwww maisie that's not very helpful of her. Sometimes people are so imtent on justifying what they are doing that they forget about other people's feelings. Although the no pram and elimation malarkey sounds like extra hassle to me! Try not to let it get to you... although easier said than done.

clarabellski · 02/04/2016 17:43

Maisie Flowers

I'm sad I wasn't able to breastfeed beyond the first week, but I remind myself that happy healthy mum and happy healthy baby are the priority. Don't beat yourself up. Also, that elimination thing soundsbizarre! A friend tried it and it worked from month 4 to month 13 then he regressed as a toddler! All that hard work for nothing in the end! He still had to be potty trained later!

Re the noises, oh my gawds! We call our ds taz as in tasmanian devil from loony toons!

NorthernChinchilla · 02/04/2016 18:54

DD here is Princess Snorty Warthog, but to be fair that's partly down to the cold....

LibertyBelles · 02/04/2016 19:04

Hi all, just caught up with the thread - DD is 9 weeks on Monday and is only sleeping for about 2.5-3 hours in the day. Not much better at night either - one stretch of 3-4 hours from about 9, then very broken sleep until we get up at 7! Anyone in the same boat?

haquoi123 · 03/04/2016 07:44

Argh, he's grown out of his Sainsburys 3-6 babygros!! The arms and legs are still too long but it won't popper up over his (nappy) bum Hmm the Next ones still fit. All the 0-3 vests are out as well! Anyone know any big-sized brands? Help!

liberty ds just slept from 12.30-4.45,and then from 5-7.30. Unusual though as we usually get 2-3 hour sleeps, shorter as morning arrives. But then we go to bed at 11 ish, he feeds until 12.15ish and then we're up at 7 ish (not out of bed but dozing or chatting or with ds in the bed, so I don't count it), so there's less room for frustration!

haquoi123 · 03/04/2016 07:47

liberty do you put baby in the sling? I find that he sleeps better at night after having slept in the sling during the day, or the pram if I've been out. If he doesn't nap it's usually a shit night! I don't count his daytime sleeping if I'm honest.

Very reassured to find my baby isn't the only noisy one!

LibertyBelles · 03/04/2016 08:09

haq I heard that h&m were meant to be bigger (we're cloth bumming and so I'm interested in this sort of thing!) - could try there? And frugi - but they're expensive - although gorgeous!!

Yeah, we were slinging her for all naps but didn't want to make a rod for my own back so we're trying to put her in her Moses basket for naps. She does about half an hour stints (same in pram) although last night did 3 hours in her Moses basket from 9pm! Yay Smile

cudbywestrangers · 03/04/2016 09:30

You can get vest extenders which will help those last longer with cloth bums. I find all the supermarket brands seem to be sized smaller than clothes shops. It might be worth googling or looking on the boards here as well, there are some brands that do make clothes to go over cloth nappies but none are cheap!

Troika · 03/04/2016 11:43

Liberty sounds almost identical to our sleep pattern. I'm reluctant to stay up later as that stretch from 9 is the only decent bit of sleep I get most nights!

I also need to perfect the art of putting baby down once asleep without her pinging awake. Tried all the usual tricks but she's just like I'm not stupid mother! Then annoyingly at other times (usually when I need to wake her to feed or change before school run etc) I can literally dump her down and she stays in a deep slumber!

Took her to get passport pics done yesterday and she slept through the whole thing, even though it involved being put on the floor on a piece of white paper Hmm If that had been her cot with me hoping to get some sleep however...

Haquoi m&s are slightly larger I find. H&m long but skinny, or always used to be.

Troika · 03/04/2016 11:45

Also liberty no such thing as rod for own back at this age so just do whatever gets you the most rest (and I know baby in sling or in arms isn't always that which is why I want dd to sleep better in her own bed!)

Troika · 03/04/2016 11:48

Sorry to hear people are being made to feel bad about big babies, if it's any consolation it's the same for small ones. People are forever saying how small dd is and one even asked this week if she'd grown at all which after our bad start with weightloss made me feel like shit.
