clumsy... Shock how long are you in this caravan for?!

Feel awful and ds2 is cluster feeding. He's got a chesty cough so I want him to get as many antibodies from me as possible so I'm encouraging it, but I'm so tired now and he needs to go to sleep! Birthday tomorrow and I've organised this big party and really don't want to cancel... Typical I get ill now!

Glad eye is better purple

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2016 00:33

Hey haquoi, missed it previously but glad you enjoyed the co-sleep! I can't advise on any crib, etc arrangements as I just have DD in with me and shuffle us about as necessary.
Happy birthday btw Cake !

haquoi123 · 28/03/2016 08:04

Thanks chinchilla!

Well, I've woken up feeling achy and snotty but think I'll manage to get through the day Smile All that cluster feeding paid off - woke to baby rooting and crying in his sleep and put him to the breast only to panic that there was a massive lump of milk collected. DH ran around for hot flannel and pump and bubs filled himself on only half the breast. I managed to pump 70ml off the one breast after he'd gorged! Tempted to do the other one...

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2016 09:33

Oh boy- mastitis as a birthday present is not what you need! I too am sitting here pumping as I type. Be careful as it can come on so quickly.
Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the party Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2016 09:35

Oh and sending Brew at the very least your way clumsy- how goes it?

clumsypots · 28/03/2016 11:44

Happy birthday haquoi Cake

So in the saga of clumsy's holiday 'D'H got back to caravan at about 12.30 to me shivering my ass off (I had wrapped DS in all the blankets I could find) and decided we would stay in a motorway hotel so got a crappy service station sandwich and got to a hotel at about 2.30 ds was very unsettled so spent most of the night feeding him. We are now on route back to first caravan (another 3 hours in the car) to pick up DD who decided she wanted to stay there to play with her friends so I have another day and night of PILs wahoo! Glad she didn't come with us though as she would have been extremely grumpy with lack of food and being cold. Also I am even more grumpy now as 'D'H thought baby bel and crust of toast would be ok for my breakfast...um no! Sorry am feeling sorry for myself now.

MaisieDotes · 28/03/2016 15:17

Happy birthday haquoi!!! Easter Smile Easter Smile

clumsy that sounds utterly shit. Hope you are back in comfort soon.

cudbywestrangers · 28/03/2016 23:11

Hope ypu all had a good easter weekend although caravans and mastitis and other illnesses don't sound so good.

Thanks for the tips for th leaking, will check the links when i get a few minutes spare. Not sure where the last few days have gone but we're all fine and the high point of the weekend was ds1 doing a poo in the potty. Can't quite believe our lives have ended up celebrating poo but never mind!

Happy birthday haq

Grandad's funeral tomorrow so hoping to get there on time and that the day isn't too difficult. But first need some sleep and someone doesn't seem to think that's a good idea Hmm

cudbywestrangers · 28/03/2016 23:23

Just been skim reading back. Baby cinema was good last time round, definitely worth a go if they're showing a film that's half decent.

Eyes definitely need to go back to the gp if mot cleared after drops, although it probably looks worse than it is uncomfortable for little one unless eyes themselves are looking bloodshot or sore.

I have a whole mixture of washable and disposable breast pads. Can't really tell the difference in terms of leak catching tbh but prefer the washables on the whole.

pinkmallow · 29/03/2016 08:16

Hi hope everyone had a lovely Easter. Baby slept through his! Trying to make a doctors appointment today for a suspected prolapse, oh how I wish I could just recover!

clarabellski · 29/03/2016 16:40

Oh dear mallow, I feel your pain! I'm on antibiotics because my labial tear has not healed properly and is now infected. If antibiotics don't shift infection and the tear has not improved by end of this week, I've to go back to gynaecology for re-stitching, boo!

It's a bit unfortunate but nothing I can do about it. Just really looking forward to being stronger physically so I can do more out of the house (like go for an epic walk with the pram when DS is unsettled, at the moment more than half an hour is just too sore!).

HandbagFan · 29/03/2016 17:05

Just checking in...

pinkmallow sounds delightful! You too, clarabellski! While I didn't plan or desire a c section, I do have the benefit of my bits being unaffected. My deepest sympathies to you both and hope you get your bits sorted out soon!

Cudby hope today went as well as it could. Take care of yourself, sounds like a stressful time. Flowers

clumsypots I'm sorry you had such a shit time, but you told the story so well you had me laughing out loud! I hope your DH is taking lessons from this?

haquoi Happy Birthday for yesterday! Cake Hope the illness is leaving you - I was poorly over the end of last week and it makes everything so much harder with the baby.

As for us, we're OK. The cold is leaving us both - I'm a bit snotty and he's a bit sniffly. Yesterday was a bad day for sleep with him up from 7.15am-9pm. But he slept ok overnight. Today's mixed, with him fighting his tiredness when he should be napping.

Health Visitor appointment tomorrow, our first appointment for nearly four weeks. It seems so odd to have constant people coming to see you, then you get left alone for a month. Still, he's still alive and putting on weight and I'm still alive and not tearing out my hair so we can't be doing that badly!

My Easter weekend was all about the pump, bout the pump...Power pumping! I managed it for four days and have seen a slight improvement in volume. I'm also getting more used to it now - instead of dreading it and resenting it, I'm just getting on. Smaller flanges definitely have helped, and DH has been really supportive and helpful about it so it's been easier to fit into the day. I am hoping it's not forever, but at least he's getting the breast milk and the benefits it brings. He's happy and that's the main thing.

pinkmallow · 29/03/2016 19:34

I know what you mean about doing more Clarabellski I envisaged long walks with the pram before ds was born but I can't walk far at all without being sore.

Got a doctors appointment about the suspected prolapse but not until next week as typically my period returned today!

Can I ask how much everyone with 6 week old ff babies are having? My little one has suddenly got hungry and gone from 4oz to 5oz and is sometimes sleeping for longer periods, 6 hours straight the other night!

HandbagFan · 29/03/2016 20:31

pinkmallow we're 5+2 and he's eating 90-150mls (3-5ozs) at any one time. We've had a six hour stint overnight without a bottle and several 5hrs stints. I tend to wake him up at this point as I'm anxious about his hydration and his nappy! I don't think we're that far from him sleeping through the night. At least 12-6 which would be amazing.

Interested to hear about the others...

pinkmallow · 29/03/2016 20:36

Handbag we are 6+2. I get anxious if ds hasn't woken too! I lie awake listening for him so was still tired when he slept the 6 hours! He slept 12-6 which would be great more often and I also don't think we're far off sleeping through fingers crossed!

clarabellski · 29/03/2016 21:43

4-5oz a feed here between 2-4 hours apart although a couple of 5-6 hour gaps have cropped up over past week, unfortunately during the day, arf! I don't mind the night feeds though as he settles back to sleep after pretty quickly. During day he catnaps and has a few unsettled periods of crying. He looks tired but unable to stay asleep poor dote.

clumsypots · 29/03/2016 22:00

handbag I'm glad you enjoyed my tale of woe... Had fish pie for breakfast yesterday and steak for tea so I felt slightly happier. Still at caravan no1 in the hail, wind and rain but inlaws have gone so I feel a bit more relaxed even with a snotty grumpy little boy and the boob bogeys that brings. Loving the theme tune by the way, you could always use 'momma do the pump' to mix it up.

pink and Clara that sounds rough hope you both get sorted soon.

We tend to get sleep from 12-5 with a couple of 12-6s thrown in, I tend to feel worse the longer he sleeps though, go figure!

NorthernChinchilla · 29/03/2016 22:36

on the boob bogies clumsy, yummy ain't it? My cold has now reached the ectoplasm stage, it's grim. Glad it's a bit more relaxed but please God you get Mallorca or something next year....

DD has slept most of today; she's a bit unsettled in the evening, but nothing out of the ordinary.

How did the funeral go cud, and did the family behave?

haquoi123 · 29/03/2016 23:43

Thanks for the birthday messages! I got through the party like a trooper (if I say so myself) although flagged massively at the end (mentally growling at a close friend who dared touch my baby when usually I have no issue with her at all!). Overall a fantastic day... And I paid for it today. Lucky DH has been a star and long after me.

cud I hope you're doing ok today Flowers

clumsy, erm, wtf? Sounds like a BBC 3 comedy sketch, what utter hell! Why was one caravan three hours away from the other? Are you back in the warm, dry and well-fed world now?

clara, mallow, sorry to hear you're having such a hard time down there. They don't tell you what to expect after birth, do they?

handbag you're so right about all the support just finishing. I found that pretty unnerving despite things going ok. I have a block about booking appointments at the Dr (seeing new people each time and having to explain about ds1 puts me off) so I've got a list of things to ask at my 6 week check.

purple how's the eye?

Baby is cluster feeding /suckling for comfort again. chinchilla what's your set up for co-sleeping? Blankets, duvets, pillows, etc. Is your OH in with you both?

HandbagFan · 30/03/2016 03:21

Don't you hate it when you have a freshly changed nappy then baby does explosive farting immediately after? I could feel the poo hitting the nappy. Time for another change!

clumsypots · 30/03/2016 07:34

cud I hope yesterday went ok for you.

Now DD has diarrhoea on the day we are supposed to be travelling home Sad I am desperately hoping it doesn't turn into sickness too as have massive phobia of people being sick. I have put DH in charge of looking after her as obviously don't want DS to catch it if it is something catching although can't see it being food related as we have all eaten the same other than Easter eggs. I'm going to be walking round the caravan with an antibac wipe in my hands at all times. haq DH had a gig which is why it was so far away, not helped by the fact he forgot his trumpet (the one thing I had left him in charge of) and so we had to go home before going to the 2nd caravan so 3 hours was more like 5. I had to pump a bottle in the car to give DS while we were driving to save some time, that got some funny looks from peopleBlush

handbag I hate it when I am doing the nappy change but it really makes me laugh when it is DH's turn Grin

Troika · 30/03/2016 08:57

Envy at the tales of sleep. We've had a couple of really good nights where dd has slept 3-4 hour stretches, two nights where she self settled in crib at the beginning of night. And then nights like last night where she won't settle at all and I'm up and down all night trying to get her to go to sleep and stay asleep. Most nights we get a 3 hour stretch at the beginning of the night and then another 2-3 after that, but the second is rarely in her crib. I know it can be a lot worse though so trying not to complain!

Happy (belated) birthday haquoi and hope you feel better soon.

Handbag well done on the pumping mission. I'm still trying to pump once a day but certainly don't look forward to it.

Clumsy that sounds a nightmare, well done on surviving!

haquoi123 · 30/03/2016 11:26

Oh clumsy, the joys of being a musician! I did lol at that. DH and I have definitely done that before, or left music behind, etc. Your poor dd though, hope she's better soon.

handbag, yes. We get explosive poos every 2 days or so. I've also had a river of shit spew out at me when the nappy was off. DH does most of the changing though :D bubs is doing lots of really smelly farts at the moment though

troika, oof!

HandbagFan · 30/03/2016 11:30

Health Visitor came this morning and now we'll next see her in February! She seemed happy with him and me. Told me to get some fruit in me to stop my constipation, that his head isn't as oddly shaped as I think and that he clearly knows who his mum is. Bit bemused still by what they're meant to do for you but I got his book bag - his first books! - and pleased she seemed content.

clumsypots · 30/03/2016 11:52

The vom has started and she keeps wetting herself, is this normal? I do not have enough pants for her to keep up. I just want to be at home!

handbag did you get the half hour safe sleep talk for her then to ask to see where baby sleeps and say oh yes that's fine? I swear they could save an awful lot of time if they asked to see the bed first.
