Feel like I haven't been on here in ages! Hello to the new posters!

We're all doing well. The days are just flying in though! Not enough time to do anything.

Have the HV later so will be interesting to see how much DS weighs now at 4+1.

I'm jealous your babies feed every 3-4 hrs! Mine is every 1-2 and a bit longer at night.

I have family coming at the weekend and it's turned into a bit of an event and I've offered to do lunch for everyone. What was I thinking?? With the baby, 3yo DS and DP at work. I'm off my head. Need to think of something really easy to put on for lunch. Gah.

No matter how much sleep I get I'm constantly tired! My boys and me are having a lazy day today!

HandbagFan · 23/03/2016 12:12

pinkmallow we are going to the breastfeeding drop in clinic tomorrow come hell or high water! Will be the first thing we've gone to but I see it as a first step towards going to actual clubs...

clarabellski · 23/03/2016 13:47

Mallow, I had episiotomy which is healing ok I think (i don't fear going for a number 2 anymore!). However I also had labial tear which also required stitches and it is that which I don't think is healing up properly. We are 4w2d here.

First class we are trying is baby massage run by our health visitor which starts mid April. Dh off on leave so we can both attend a couple hopefully! Our nhs physio team here also run a free Pilates class where you can bring baby. Sounds potentially riotous but looking forward to that next month too after my undercarriage is better!

Purples, if you can get to an aldi they do good frozen nibbles, you could bung a couple of trays in the oven and buy some ready made salads, coleslaw etc for the side? And get one of your guests to help. Also maybe get some paper plates?

purplepineapples · 23/03/2016 13:55

clara that is a great idea! I shop at Aldi all the time and that's easier (and cheaper!) than trying to get to M&S. Don't know if any of you have tried their bbq pork tenderloin or hoisin pulled pork but we had them both recently and they were fab!

Can anyone link to the Facebook page some of you are on or let me know the name?

IslaMann · 23/03/2016 16:48

Purplepineapple it's a secret group so you won't find us. If you PM me with your name, and a description of your profile pic and cover pic I will send you a friend request. Then I can add you to the group. After that you are free to delete me as a friend if you wish.

Evening all!

Am on phone as ever so apologies for missing half of the things i mean to say... and names are a bit betond me Blush

Welcome pink Smile sorry to here you had a tough start with your little one. I had a c section with ds1 and it was much harder than recovering than a normal delivery so take things as easy as you need to.

Hope baby is ok after jabs and don't blame you for being apprehensive about going solo after them, it's difficult to know how they will react.

Hope gp can sort poorly undercarriage

Twins sound amazing!

We had 6 week hv check yesterday and babycud is now 12lb 12oz from 8lb 14oz at birth so the crazy feeding of the last week clearly achieved some good growing! 6 week check at gp tomorrow so will get some cerazette although not feeling brave enough for those sorts of activities yet! I stupidly read that things can be painful for quite a while after episiotomy so have got myself nervous which won't help. Haven't been brave enough to take a look or even feel how things are yet.... must get over myself! Am actually feeling pretty tired at the mo, we all have colds and i also looked after a friends daughter monday and yesterday so pretty busy! Fortunately dh should be finishing crazy hours tomorrow so looking forward to the long weekend and actually seeing him.

Re baby groups, i have to keep reminding myself that it's still early days and last time it alwas a couple of months before we got going with them. Am going to book onto a baby massage class with a friend
as a starter and have also been seeing friends for coffee and cake quite regularly as well as ds1 activities. Could just do with a bit more structure to my weeks now. Although you guys have reminded me that we have the first 2 series of house of cards to watch so maybe i'll just to that Grin

I might just see if i can work out how to pm you anout Facebook group isla but need to deal with squawking baby first!

cudbywestrangers · 23/03/2016 19:48

Sorry for all those typos. It's been a long week!

clarabellski · 23/03/2016 21:08

Have any of our repeat mums ever been to baby cinema? Sounds like it could be riotous but thought it would be good way to get out the house. Screenings are a fiver here so seems reasonable price...

2ManySweets · 23/03/2016 21:55

Yes absolutely! Baby cinema is great with a wee baby.

When I went to see "Hail Caesar" the other week there were mums there with sensory mats and a whole load of stuff, plus all the babies cried at one point and had to be walked around.

So don't worry about anything; just go!

Violet87 · 23/03/2016 22:46

Hello everyone!
I have been reading the thread for the last few weeks so finally decide to write a post. Ds2 is 4weeks & 2days and just lovely fussy but lovely! He is currently feeding every 3 hours sometimes goes a little longer during the day (never at night...obviously Shock)
How often are you babies feeding? I'm formula feeding and we have just been prescribed gaviscon as the gp thinks he may have reflux, is anyone else using this?

I would love to join the Facebook group if someone could let me know how. Smile

2ManySweets · 23/03/2016 23:11

Hello Violet - quick one before I conk out (or try to) - Gaviscon causes constipation as I found out much to my chagrin last week.

I'm sure you're already winding your baby after every 20ml or so with 20mins of keeping him upright after the feed is finished, but if it's not just reflux but maybe trapped wind too, get on the infacol. My baby could burp and stopped projectile vomming after taking that stuff (even though it's not strictly for reflux)

Good luck Brew

Violet87 · 23/03/2016 23:22

I have noticed his burps aren't as aggressive if you no what I mean but it is coming up and he has been farting like a trooper all night. The little monkey is flat out on the sofa and last feed at 7 so would have normally woke at 10 for a feed so I'm now sat willing him to wake up for a feed so I can go to bed, I know as soon as I move him to his crib he will wake but I want to encourage him to sleep longer between feed. What to do!! Confused

IslaMann · 24/03/2016 06:49

Violet87 with regards to the Facebook group, just pm me your name with a description of your profile pic and cover pic. Then I'll send you a friend request. Once you accept it I can add you to the group. Then if you wish to you can unfriend me. Like this thread, it's a very supportive group, it's just a little easier to follow conversations! It's a secret group so you can't find it by searching.

clarabellski · 24/03/2016 08:29

Thanks sweets, was hail Caesar any good?

Quite fancy guilty pleasure of big fat Greek wedding 2!

Welcome violet, I am also formula feeding my ds who is same stage as yours. We are usually 3 - 4 hours between feeds but he sometimes clusters every 2 hours. He is taking between 4 - 6 oz a feed.

I've been up with him since 3 as he clearly has some poop issues. There was a pitiful one in hos nappy around 7am. I hope it passes through soon as he is quite agitated. Goes from conked out in my arms to screaming and pulling up legs and making his poo face and back again. I'm getting better at using phone one handed to surf net as a result!

pinkmallow · 24/03/2016 09:03

it sounds like I need to relax about the classes then! I think I'm just anxious about being lonely all mat leave and not making friends. I struggle to get out much on my own as get sore and tired really quickly. I'm on iron tablets for anaemia so don't know if I'm extra tired or just not dealing with it very well?!

purplepineapples · 24/03/2016 09:04

Oh dear God I am rubbish at doing the nights. I think I've been too spoiled with DP doing the majority of them so when I have to do them I feel like I'm gonna crack!

DS just seems to take ages to go back over and it's fine when he's on my shoulder but as soon as I try to put him in his moses basket he goes into full scale meltdown. Took an hour to get him over at one of last night's feeds then it takes me ages to get to sleep again then it starts all over again not long after

Why does everything seem worse in the middle of the night??

purplepineapples · 24/03/2016 09:07

Please excuse my self pitying post Hmm

Poor DP does more night feeds than me a week and sometimes has work the next day and when asked how the night was he always replies fine even though his eyes are hanging out his head and has dragging himself about. I really need to woman up!

haquoi123 · 24/03/2016 09:22

Wrote a long list yesterday and lost it!

clara that sucks, poor baby! Hope wind has calmed down now

Welcome violet!

joleyn those are fantastic weights! And they've certainly got a good birthday ;)

I've just discovered the joy of Co sleeping. Had a brilliant nap yesterday and this morning by chucking off all of Dh's pillows, my duvet half off the bed and the rest wrapped around me and then baby in a grobag. Brilliant. So nice just to be able to reach out if he grumbled. My birthday is coming up so I can't decide whether to ask for a chicco next to me (which I've wanted all along) or whether to take the side off the cot bed and try to attach it. Just sleeping in our bed isn't good enough really, I want the sides up. What do you think chinchilla?

mallow you're doing a fab job, don't worry about getting out before you're ready, especially as you've had a difficult start. You deserve a bit of tlc!

cud I need the contraception talk, I think I've started ovulating Sad (supposedly breast feeding is supposed to put a stop to that?!

clumsypots · 24/03/2016 09:26

purple everything is harder in the middle of the night you are not alone. You carried baby for 9 months and gave birth so your DH is allowed to help at night without you feeling guilty.

pink I am 8 weeks in and still not been to a class yet, I am very nervous about going but I need to get out there. I am going to try a breastfeeding group first and perhaps sling swing even though it's not very local but it beats dancing round the living room on my own with DS in his sling which I do a lot of Smile

pinkmallow · 24/03/2016 09:44

Thanks haq I don't want to come across and self pitying it's just it was such a hard birth and I'm still a long way off recovering but feel like I should be better and that I come across as weak if that makes sense!

Purple I think it's the tiredness that makes it so hard I think I have an easy baby (he's my 1st so nothing to compare to) so can't imagine what it's like having a baby who doesn't sleep!

Clumsy I am very nervous too which doesn't help but really couldn't manage it at the minute. I think another month or so I might try

2ManySweets · 24/03/2016 10:00

clara Hail Caesar was alright...if you're a fan of the Coen brothers you'll love it. It wasn't quite my cup of tea. Waiting patiently to see what the next decent film will be at Baby Cinema (hopes for something to do with Greek Weddings 😉).

Forgive me, I've not read all the above posts but my baby is six weeks today and I've got no plans to take up any classes for another two weeks AT LEAST.

pinkmallow · 24/03/2016 10:20

2many it's good to know everyone's not in a rush to start classes!

haquoi123 · 24/03/2016 10:35

Sorry purple I missed your post. Nights are hard work!! You're doing a great job and it sounds like your DH is wonderful.

I'm someone who is out to classes and your posts are really reassuring in the sense that I'm worrying I can't find anyone with babies ds' age! It's good to know that people just aren't ready yet. Take your time (the classes are already getting a little boring, (I'm a musician who has done the sing/song stuff so it's like being at work and thinking you can do better!), need to find people to chat with!) Cinema sounds life a great idea, I might see if our little town one does it.

Lying here with bubs on my chest - he's having a fart fest! I'm cheering each one on! Joys of motherhood :D

MaisieDotes · 24/03/2016 10:48

haq I'd say don't bother with the chicco, you probably won't get the value out of it with your DS being so long. I have a snuzpod and I used it for only 4 months with DS1 and he wasn't even as big as DS2 although he was a big baby too.

I put the cot up to the bed after that and it was great. DS2 is already taking up most of the snuzpod so it won't be long before he's out of it too.

haquoi123 · 24/03/2016 11:13

Fab, thanks maisie :)
