Hello everyone, it's been a while! DS is now 3+6 and also busting out of the newborn and 0-1 month stuff, will be really sad to put it away though...

House of Cards is fab- have you seen the 80's British version? Think it's even better than the US series...

pinkmallow · 22/03/2016 10:21

Thank you haquoi123 he was 5 weeks on Saturday, can't believe it the time has flown by! Had a difficult birth so a rough start and finding it hard as I am still recovering but he is definitely worth it

Troika · 22/03/2016 10:45

Wow all your babies are piling it on! Dd was 3290g born, 2790 at 3 days Sad, birthweight at 2 weeks and was 3660g yesterday at 3+5. She's following her line on the chart now. She is exclusively breastfed now with the odd bottle of ebm. Had three or four formula top ups to rehydrate her when we first got readmitted with the weightloss. She usually only drinks from one breast at each feed but possets quite a bit so I'm assuming it's enough. Ebm she has 40-60 ml normally so around 2oz, can't imagine her taking a 5oz feed! She usually feeds every 2-3 hours in the day and 3-4 at night...

clumsypots · 22/03/2016 10:56

Hi mallow sorry to hear you had a difficult start, glad you are recovering now though.

I've had to put away all the tiny baby clothes and newborn clothes but the 0-3 is still a bit too big for him. Got his first immunisations tomorrow Sad

Baby brain is in full swing here forgot I was meeting a friend for a walk this morning and arranged for another friend to come over for lunch Blush is anyone else suffering or is it just me being supremely crap?

Troika · 22/03/2016 11:31

Forgot to say welcome pink Smile

For baby colds you can get saline drops to clear the nose and use olbas or karvol in the room. Horrible when they're so tiny though.

Troika · 22/03/2016 11:35

Clumsy baby brain here too.

When are you all watching box sets?? I keep hearing this as something to do with new babies but dd doesn't have long feeds and then needs lots of winding and settling afterwards (me stood up not sat down). Then when she sleeps I'm sorting out meals/shopping/cleaning/laundry (or going to bed at 8pm to try and get a couple of hours in...)
I think I must be doing it wrong!

pinkmallow · 22/03/2016 11:36

Thanks for all the welcomes Smile baby is starting to outgrow newborn and up to one month although 0-3 is a bit big still. He sounds small compared to some of the babies on here at 9lb!

clumsypots · 22/03/2016 11:52

Glad I am not the only one troika I have so many alarms on my phone for fetching dd from after school clubs it's untrue!

pink my DS was 9lb 9 at 6 weeks and has been following the 9th centile but he was 3 weeks early. I will find out tomorrow how much weight he has put on in the last 2 weeks.

MaisieDotes · 22/03/2016 14:50

Hi mallow welcome! And welcome to you too, sweets, sorry I missed you out before.

chinchilla yes DS is on the same centile (91st) for weight head and length so he's staying on the same track since birth.

DS1 is also a 90-something centile-r. At least I'm not going to be pregnant plus having a heffalump to carry around this time Grin I bloody well better not be anyway! Got a prescription for cerazette from the GP yesterday so if I get on ok with that then I'll think about the mirena coil later on.

troika I am most definitely not finding time for box sets! I try to watch an episode of something with DH but usually end up falling asleep after 10 mins. Pathetic!

NorthernChinchilla · 22/03/2016 15:45

They do seem to be similar clara. My shoulders have been killing me too- I've been adjusting the shower so it's on a small head and blasts my back, plus ibuprofen when it's really bad....

I remember House of Cards from the 80s monk, and use his catchphrase a lot at work...my Mum loves the US version.

Hello pinkmallow, sorry you had a rough start, and glad things are improving.

Glad she's gaining Troika, and if she's following the line that's perfect. And it's still such early days for us all!

I've been utterly crap with names clumsy, worse than usual. I was trying to remember the name of someone I have worked in the same area as for five years Blush, and couldn't for the life of me...

Booked DD's nursery place today, which is great, but the cost....ooowwwwww!! And this time round we'll have DS's care to pay for as well....

joleyn · 22/03/2016 19:18

I am good thanks haquoi. Little ones are now 5+5. Dd has put on a ton of weight, up to 7lb 15oz last week. Ds is slowly putting on after his rocky start and is now 6lb 7oz. I always feel like I am tempting fate but am not finding life with twins as difficult as I expected. I definitely feel better than when I had my eldest ds. Fingers crossed it continues! !

clarabellski · 22/03/2016 19:38

I booked nuresery last week - bonkers when only 3 weeks old and he wontvstart til 12 months but spaces fill quickly here!

Troika I think box sets only apply fir first babies! Wink I do it mostly when ds is in his sling and I am doing chores ironing etc

Troika · 22/03/2016 19:42

Ah, the lack of ironing is where I am going wrong...Wink

haquoi123 · 22/03/2016 19:46

Amazing news joleyn - were your babies born 11th February? That's when my bubs was born. What weight were they at birth? Great to hear it's going well

troika I have to say that discovering Netflix on my phone was both a blessing and a curse as I'm now never away from it. The TV or computer haven't been touched though, too much hassle!

monk I'll have to put the 80s version of House of Cards on my 'to watch' list.

Sorry to hear you had a difficult start pink. Everything calming down now?

Bubs was weighed today - 13.1lbs at 5+5, what a chunk! 91st percentile and continuing nicely. I introduced him to the children and staff at school -he happens to share the name of the recently deceased hamster so kids are convinced he's a tribute! Oh dear.

Thinking about buying the caboo close to me, anyone use it?

pinkmallow · 22/03/2016 21:30

Things are getting better haquoi can't do a lot without feeling sore and extremely tired though which is hard. What was your baby's birth weight, he sounds a lovely chunk now!

clarabellski · 22/03/2016 21:44

Haq, we use a fabric wrap in the house for short spells and just bought an ergobaby performance for out and about as he has taken well to being carried and it is supposed to go up to age 4 but I'll be damned if I carry ds at that age! I read good things about caboo though.

HandbagFan · 23/03/2016 09:14

Hello! For those who've not yet exoereienced it, a baby with a cold is not much fun. He was awake yesterday from 10-8, and crying and drizzling most of that time! When they're this small they can only breathe through their noses so block that and you have one distressed baby. It was horrible.

I slept better lat night - DH is feeling better at last so did the last feed and we both got woken about 7.20 this morning. He's gone to work and I'm anxious about how today will be. He's already had a couple of hours awake and unhappy but he's got a dummy in now and seems calmer (yes, I caved!)...

Bets on me getting dressed and having a shower today? Currently in my underwear as it's easier access to pump!

joleyn · 23/03/2016 09:28

Haquoi - yep 11th February. Same day as my niece as well. Obviously a great day for babies :-) ds was 5lb 9oz and dd was 6lb so pretty good weights for twins. I still can't believe I carried them around! Wow 13lbs is fab. I can't wait for mine to chunk up a bit. Hopefully they will sleep longer then!

clumsypots · 23/03/2016 09:40

handbag have you tried one of the nose sucker things? I hope he feels better soon. Getting dressed is overrated, just stick your dressing gown on if anyone comes to the door.

DS has his injections this morning. DH wants to take DD to a gig tonight and I don't know if I am being unreasonable in not wanting them to go as will have been on my own all day and don't want to be on my own all evening with a potentially very grumpy baby.

HandbagFan · 23/03/2016 10:06

I had a friend over for lunch yesterday who happens to be a doctor - queue a lot of time talking about babies and my hospital experience! He's sure the grumpy baby is just ill - he was crying and crying despite being full and dry and in my arms. Reassuring there's nothing to do. He's very sceptical about steam / infusions / suckers / saline sprays etc. If it's a cold his view is you just need to sit it out. Important to make sure they eat enough and get plenty of chance for some rest but after a few days it should be over.

Thanks to the new dummy I am indeed dressed and showered. Hooray! DS is asleep, the cats are fed, I have had breakfast (well, a dry bagel to go with my fenugreek capsules!) and I'm watching Jeremy Kyle still in the bedroom. I reckon we might have 30 minutes before he wakes up needing a new nappy and another bottle.

Does anyone else wonder how they lived before this? I used to be up at six every morning and actually do a job!

HandbagFan · 23/03/2016 10:08

PS all this talk of big chunky babies! Mine's still not 9lbs yet although I can see how much he's grown. He grew out of newborn last week but down to length, they still fitted him but the bottom poppers wouldn't do up under his nappy! Sad day...

clarabellski · 23/03/2016 11:03

I'm hoping neither me nor my ds catch my dh's cold. Dh slept in spare room last night! Doctor friends are the best though!!
Speaking of doctors, I made appointment for tomorrow as undercarriage seems more painful this week than previous weeks, and feel like need to pee all the time. So glam...can you take a baby in with you to a doc appointment does anyone know? Hope so!

NorthernChinchilla · 23/03/2016 11:26

Yeah, you'll be fine clara, hope you get your bits sorted out!

I got told off by a friend for saying I felt guilty about enjoying afternoon naps with DD handbag, so I'm reminding myself I am doing an important job and there's nothing wrong with enjoying it. I'll be back in my busy and stressful job in June...

Had another flare up with a blocked duct last night, had a few hours of feeling deathly and it being AGONY feeding from the right, but it seems to have settled...fingers crossed Confused

pinkmallow · 23/03/2016 11:28

Handbag I also used to be up at 6 for work and managed fine I think the tiredness has a lot to answer for!

Clara i have also been feeling sore again down below, did you have an episiotomy or stitches? How many weeks postpartum are you? Sorry I don't know I'm new here! Smile

Also does anyone else get the feeling that they will never do anything but be in the house feeding and changing? I feel like we'll never make it to baby groups or anything but I'm still sore and shattered! Ds is only 5 weeks so don't know if I'm just being hard on myself or not?!

MaisieDotes · 23/03/2016 11:45

We had the flu in the house last week and neither I nor DS2 caught it- yay for the flu jab! So glad now that I got it done.

pink give yourself a chance woman! You are only 5 weeks in. Plenty of time for play groups later on.

haq I have a close caboo, I've only used it once or twice though, DS doesn't really like it. Hopefully he will start to like it one of these days. He might prefer it when he can face out. It's a very nice sling though.
