thanks haquoi gig went ok, didn't play amazingly well but that's to be expected and solos went ok. Boobs didn't leak on stage either Smile

Does anyone know how much bleeding to expect after having the copper coil as it seems heavy and I keep going lightheaded. I don't think playing helped last night to be honest.

NorthernChinchilla · 20/03/2016 15:17

Glad to have provided humour for the group- you've got to laugh Grin Now who is going to out-gross me?!

You did well performing last night clumsy, really impressed! Given my tin ear I tend to be in awe and massively jealous of anyone with musical talent..

haquoi123 · 20/03/2016 21:30

Gah, after 3 hours of continuous suckling on both boobs I've finally caved and given him a dummy. Lansinoh time!!

haquoi123 · 20/03/2016 21:32

(can't help in afraid clumsy, never had the coil. If you're feeling lightheaded though I'd talk to someone)

haquoi123 · 21/03/2016 05:14

And then hardly any feeding all night, argh engorged!! The little rascal! He's fallen asleep halfway through feeding and won't be tempted to drain my left boob any more Confused

NorthernChinchilla · 21/03/2016 05:41

That was me about a week ago haquoi, which led to me having a blocked duct and coming very close to mastitis.
It's bloody frustrating in the first instance with the cluster feeding, then they rub salt in the wound by conking out for ages/having one tiny feed, leaving you engorged and leaking Hmm

DD currently asleep on shoulder with dummy- I find they work really well helping them settle.

cudbywestrangers · 21/03/2016 14:04

Can't beat poo in face northern Grin

Very impressive performing clumsy glad it went well.

I'm a bit jealous of the dummy success, I've pretty much given up. Apparently neither dummies or dh's finger are acceptable substitutes for my finger, gah!

Hope the lansinoh works it's magic haq babycud has been on a feeding frenzy for about 5 days now. I'm waiting for the sleepy day and engorgement... maybe i should dig out the pump ready to relieve it!

I've had my friends daughter here this morning who is the same age as ds1. Was quite nervous, thought it could be a complete disaster but she was a star and it's been easier than having both of mine!

clarabellski · 21/03/2016 14:29

Hi everyone

Currently trying to settle my wee guy by simulating a walk in the pram by shoogling the carry cot (on the living room floor) with my foot from my position on the couch. Seems to be working so far!!! Could go on actual walk I suppose but was already out this morning and could do with a wee nap myself, so hoping he will fall asleep soon!

Are there any other formula feeders out there? I'd be interested in how much your babies are guzzling. DS has been on 5oz every 3-4 hours since he was 3 weeks old and he is nearly always consisting draining the bottle. This seems way more than the NHS leaflet and formula packets suggest he needs. HV said if he eats it and doesn't bring it back up, he obviously needs it, and weightwise he is currently around 50th percentile on the growth charts. I'm wondering whether to up the bottles to 6oz but this seems like an awful lot for such a young baby...HV not due to visit us again until 4 April...

Drat, this pram simulation doesn't seem to be working...Think we're looking at an afternoon with him in the sling....so much for my nap!

I hope everyone is doing OK.

XingXingFox · 21/03/2016 16:10

I've finally caved and given a dummy too! Any tips to avoid dependency?!

I'm trying to keep up- am reading but finding the Facebook group easier. But I'm here and reading and enjoying hearing how it's going even if I don't write!

HandbagFan · 21/03/2016 17:29

clara - bottle feeding here but mostly bm with a bit of formula but we do measure everything going in... DS is 4w+1 and drinking 3-5oz every 3-4hrs. He's tracking the 22nd %ile and has only just gone up from 2-3 ozs per feed. Per day he's now averaging 23oz per day. Apparently it should be 150-200mls per day per kg of weight so I'm happy he's getting enough. How does that stack up for you?

DS has his first cold meaning he's not slept all day apart from on and off dozing. DH has given it to him and is really poorly. Fun! Does anyone recommend anything to make baby feel better?

haquoi123 · 21/03/2016 18:20

cud and fox we give the dummy so rarely that so far that bubs can't remember what to do with it each time!.. I'm sure it'll sink in eventually.

Am now on season 2 of House of Cards - Netflix: keeping mums sane since insert baby's birthday

Dh's day off and we've spent the day in bed. First time I've not left the house in 4 weeks, it feels great!

2ManySweets · 21/03/2016 18:22

Hello; been lurking for ages, since this was an antenatal club (even though I had a January due date)!

Just thought I'd stick my head up and say hi (and placemark; my 5 week old has uncharacteristically slept all day and I know I'll be up all night at this rate....)

clarabellski · 21/03/2016 18:40

Hi sweets! I know that feeling. Sometimes tempted to wake ds up more during the day, but have resisted so far!

Ooh that is on my list Haq! Currently rewatching entire 7 series of star trek ds9 - am midway through series 2 although I only take half of it in because ds distracts me (in a good way!)

Thanks handbag, your ds is a day older than mine! My ds is eating around 30 - 35oz per day and he was 9lb5 on Friday up from 7lb6 at birth (and that's after a 13% weight loss the first week!!!). He has a triple chin now! I guess though that your bm is more nutritious than formula so overall he needs less than my little guzzler!

MaisieDotes · 21/03/2016 20:57

clara I'm doing all bottle feeding now too.

DS has 6 bottles of 5oz per day. So 30oz. Then sometimes he needs an extra 2 or 3oz to settle him before bed.

He was at the GP today and he weighs.... 14lbs Shock He was 9lbs9oz at birth.

He is wearing 3-6 month babygros and his torso is nearly too long for them already. He is very long.

haquoi123 · 21/03/2016 21:17

maisie wowser!! Fantastic news! My ds' torso is also stretching 3-6 month babygros at 5+4 weeks (in Terry squares though). Am going to get him weighed tomorrow but am guessing at about 13/14lbs.

Ooh clara, I'll put that next on the list. I need to find something a bit lighter to intersperse HOC with though as it's truly hardcore. Brilliant though.
Welcome sweet! Looking forward to chatting more tonight ;)

handbag missed your post about illness, sorry to hear that! My DH is suffering with man flu so just waiting for ds to get it. Do let me know if you find anything. Usually I do garlic and honey for myself and lemsip - no idea for babies...

Bubs simultaneously looked at me, smiled and chatted for a good few minutes earlier. Best experience of my life, I cried. No one can prepare you for that feeling can they? It was worth everything!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/03/2016 21:18

That's impressive going maisie! Is he on the same centimetres for weight and height?
DD was weighed as well today- was 7'4 at birth and is now 10 lbs at 4 weeks 3days, and has gone from the 50th to the 75th centile. So we'll be moving into the 0-3s Smile

clarabellski · 21/03/2016 21:19

Wow maisie!

I'm switching to 0-3 as newborn stuff now too small. Ds has long legs (must take after me!) so cant stretch out in the newborn sleepsuits! You are a good month ahead of us though! How do you carry him? I'm finding it hard at 9lb! The first time I get a few hours of me time I am going for sport massage!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/03/2016 21:19

X post haq, that's lovely!

clarabellski · 21/03/2016 21:22

Multiple x-posts!

Chinchilla ours sound like they are progressing at very similar rate!

I thought I saw the beginning of a proper smile today Haq but think it was just the start of a cry!!!

haquoi123 · 22/03/2016 04:12

Up for the 4th or 5th time tonight. DH ill so helping where he can, but I'm flagging! I was planning a busy day tomorrow but might have to scale back. Sleeeeep!

HandbagFan · 22/03/2016 06:49

I hear you - up til four and awake at 6.30. Colds and babies are not a good combo! Zombie for today and had plans...

pinkmallow · 22/03/2016 09:36

I wish I had known about the Feb antenatal group and joined in, I looked on the pregnancy boards a lot. You all seem so lovely and supportive of each other, is it too late to join in now?

joleyn · 22/03/2016 09:38

Of course not pink mallow. We also have a Facebook group which you could join.

pinkmallow · 22/03/2016 09:43

Thank you joleyn, I closed my Facebook account down but may reactivate it as a lot of baby related groups seem to be on Facebook!

haquoi123 · 22/03/2016 09:49

I ended up putting him on my chest for an hour and a half and just sleeping, nothing else I could do! DH is now out of hibernation even though he taken a sick day, poor man! How're you doing handbag? I realise I'm complaining because this isn't the norm for me and others have had it much worse. You have my respect.

Welcome mallow! Please join us, never too late! How old is your little one?

Yay joleyn it's been a while! How are you?
