Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Hello all!

Oh I the days of poop up the back are but a distant memory! Now I have said that he will probably have a poo explosion next change!

E is now 18 months! We went to Woburn today and he quite enjoyed pointing out the window shouting 'that' a lot!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 13/02/2016 21:22

I had every intention of doing cloth and even had some given to me by a friend but I've never got my act together. There is still time I guess!

Swimming was good today. He really seemed to enjoy it. Glad we've shelved the dunking part as he's starting to have fun now rather than spend the whole session looking worried.

Hope everyone has a good night. X

LaLaLaaaa · 14/02/2016 06:25

Morning!

I dint know where the days go I'm sorry for not posting!

B is going through a mega clingy phase where he won't sleep in cot past 10pm. Argh. Coslept last night with him from 11-3 and he slept the whole time. Dh then came home and put him down in cot but at 5 he was screaming again so I'm now holding him asleep. Need to find a way to get past this 5am thing as I have to hold him from 5-7 and I'm knackered. Wish there was save way to cosleep with Dh in bed but Dh is a dead weight sleeper and I'm too scared.

Well done on all the boobing newbies! Glad to hear babies are thriving!

18 months cookie!!

Popz hows no 2 coming along? Zyla what about you?

B loves swimming and bizarrely loves being dunked! He got his first swimming badge this week Grin

Weaning - I'm offering lots of variety now, so that he needs to learn to cope with lumps when they happen. He took very stiff looking cereal yesterday. He also tried a bit of carrot, a green bean and a piece of toast. Hooray!

Going to do the nut check this week. How did you guys do it - just a bit of Nutella on toast?

I still get nervous when the little bits come off the finger foods as he's gumming them but i guess I have to hold my nerve. I wondered about trying him with a rusk - I know they are nutritionally crap but tougher they might encourage him to put things in his mouth as they are harder. What do you think?

la E has had peanut butter on toast, ferrero rocher, he has had no reaction to them!

ZylaB · 14/02/2016 09:29

la no luck as yet, AF due in 4 days and a negative frer this morning, so I'm assuming I'm not upduffed this month :(. I gave H rusks sometimes to encourage her to eat food herself, not for long but she liked them! I know they're no good nutritionally but she was getting everything she needed from my milk so it was fine!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 14/02/2016 16:40

Hope everyone's had nice weekends with just a teeny bit more sleep!

La, I'm going to give R a little bit of peanut butter on a spoon to see how he manages, toast also good. I've got peanut butter with no added salt or sugar but he'll be the only one eating it as it's not nearly so nice! Might use it up in cooking.

We had success with his first bit of fish here, salmon poached in his milk with sweet potato mash and pea purée. Think the sweetness of the the helped the fish go down and it was very tender from the poaching. Sweet potato wedges are another nice (and soft) finger food. I also bought some frozen fruit, raspberries and mango, and made a fruity soya yoghurt for him. Took about 10 seconds in the blender and means he doesn't have to have the super sugary ones from the supermarket. Most excitingly of all, he's taken his Omeprazole three days in a row! This is the third brand we've tried. I dissolve it in a bit of baby crack, I mean Ella's fruit smoothie. Really hoping it starts to make a difference soon.

Happy Sunday evenings to you all x

RPopz · 14/02/2016 18:36

We did peanut butter on toast. Tbh I think unless there's a family hx of nut allergy it's unlikely to be too much of an issue.

How do you know when AF is due zyla? I had my first one when minipopz was about 9 months old and then didn't have another until just after Christmas. I don't know how regular they are to start with.

No baby news here. Not much shagging has occurred and I don't really have any clue when I might have ovulated or when AF is due so it's a bit tricky. Thinking about buying some ICs! I cried this morning for the first time in months so I expect the witch is on her way!

Good news on B's new appetite La Smile Have you tried Heinz baby biscottis? They're little finger shaped biscuits for easy holding. Probably just as questionable nutritionally but minipopz loves them! Blush

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 14/02/2016 22:13

popz I've got some ICs you can have. Happy to post them. I couldn't be arsed with them last time so doubt I'll use them next time!

We had mango for breakfast. I cut it into fingers. He managed to bite a bit off. I was a bit terrified as it went round and round in his mouth but eventually it dissappeared. He loved it.

DH cooked me dinner for v day for the first time in a looong time. It was yummy. He might regret reminding me what a good cook he is.

What age do you all recommend doing the nut test?

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 15/02/2016 16:48

essie I think any time after 6 months is fine if you haven't been advised otherwise but don't introduce anything other new foods for a couple of days so that if there is any reaction you can be sure it's the peanuts.

purplewhale · 15/02/2016 18:38

We've no family history but I got some peanut butter specially to give him after 6 months.

He's had an Ella's pouch today, and ate 3/4 of it. Is this too much?
I kept going as long as he was happy.
I also discovered Ella's baby porridge can be mixed with his milk. All the readymade breakfasts are no good, and the other baby cereals. I'm going to try ready brek again and mix some fruit in to sweeten it. I think it will be ok with a squirt from a pouch or an ice cube of puréed apple or pear

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 15/02/2016 19:37

That's exactly what I do with R's porridge, Purple. I found the stewed dried apricots and prunes idea in Annabel Karmel and stir in some of that. It's bloody lovely! I just use regular porridge but R is that much older so he can handle the lumps. With P I made his porridge with his formula until he was well over a year old as he didn't drink much and it's got all the vitamins in.

ZylaB · 15/02/2016 19:37

popz I'm only assuming it's 14 days after ovulation as that was the length of my luteal phase before I had H, and I got a positive ovulation stick..so slightly guess work!

purple I don't think babies will eat if they're full, so don't worry!

ZylaB · 15/02/2016 19:38

Oh and purple, I do normal porridge in the microwave...ie oats and milk, then mis in some puréed fruit to sweeten it, a fraction of the pric of baby porridge!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 15/02/2016 19:42

Also, Purple, re the quantities to offer, it's tricky isn't it as you don't want to take appetite away from their milk. I think being guided by your baby is the best thing to do, they're pretty clear when they've had enough.

purplewhale · 15/02/2016 20:35

Thanks lovelies. I got the readybrek as its smoother than porridge oats. He can have proper porridge when he's bigger. I also might try him with a weetabix so there's some variety

Hobbit19 · 15/02/2016 20:38

Purple, when make ready brek (for me, not P! And yes I am a child but ready brek is lush) I chuck in a handful of raspberries - makes it sweet without adding sugar. I buy frozen raspberries, much cheaper than fresh and they don't go off. Just take some out of the freezer and add to the oats/milk in the microwave with 30 seconds to go. YUM.

cookielove · 15/02/2016 20:43

I still give E baby creamy porridge Blush

RPopz · 15/02/2016 21:25

Oooh that would be fab essie thanks!

Pisghetti · 16/02/2016 00:33

BabyPis is in her own room for the first time tonight (we ended up at MrPis' for the weekend so it got knocked back a day or two). She's woken up four times so far and has gone back to sleep before I've made it upstairs each time. She's also gone to sleep for the second night in a row with a drink of water. She's bitten me every time I've offered her milk today so she's not had more than a couple of sips. I expressed 12oz this evening. I don't know what to do. I can't stand the biting and I'm seriously considering stopping feeding or moving to expressing her feeds but I suspect that will be difficult to keep up with work Confused

Hobbit19 · 16/02/2016 03:48

Ouch to the biting Pis! I don't have any advice on how to make it stop I'm afraid bit 12oz is awesome!

ZylaB · 16/02/2016 07:54

Meh, AF arrived, I wanted an instant pregnancy dammit!

LaLaLaaaa · 16/02/2016 08:07

Are you ready to give up pis? You can teach them not to bite apparently if you wanted to carry on. The waking up should settle down once she's used to being away from you

B gets fed a couple of spoonfuls of whatever we are feeding him until he looks bored and turns away, when I presume he's full. Babies are pretty good at telling you when they are full.

He fed himself scrambled egg the other day. He loved it. I'm just purée feeding and giving finger foods or whatever I'm having on the side to introduce lumps. I make his porridge w different consistency every day and add things like fruit purée or banana, but I'm wary as he seems quite bunged up and straining to poo, so I'm not giving him too much and I make sure he has lots of water. He LOVES water!

Having nightmare at night just now. He'll go down 7-10 but then wakes every hour. No reason for it - he just wakes and chatters to himself, before then crying. He is wide awake. I think it's a developmental thing and I'm hoping it'll pass.

Went to hospital on Friday 45 min drive took 1.5 hours, only to be told I was a week early! But they did give me my biopsy result which is clear. Got to go back this week to discuss Confused

Still persevering with bf- he still is funny about left side which is frustrating, but I put him on at the start of each feed so at least it's getting some action before I move him across. LC said there might be blockage still that's changed the taste of the milk. I express in evening and give it to him on his breakfast, then rest on a bottle at 10. I'm trying to get rid of my day feeds as I'm going back to work. He has EBM at 10 and formula at lunch. Still bf at 4pm and at night and early morning.

I feel like if only I could conquer the sleep issues I would be happy, but it's such a big if as he might be like this for a long time. He's never slept well. I don't do anything in evenings because I always know I've got to go to bed early. I have been out once since he was born.

Me and Dh are not getting on brilliantly. He is a good dad in many ways but he still is very selfish at times. I can't be arsed to write it all down tbh Sad

Snap are you secretly Gwyneth Paltrow?
You seem very zen and capable of whipping up lots of very healthy sounding things for mini snap! I have the envy

RPopz · 16/02/2016 08:14

Yes, I agree snap! Minipopz has been eating far too much breakfast cereal and tinned ravioli.... Blush

Sympathy Hugs La. MrP is also a cockhead.

Also sympathy hugs to Zyla. I can feel AF is on her way and BFN yesterday... Though tbf if I had got upduffed this month it'd have been a frigging immaculate conception! Grin
