The probiotics are called Opti bac. Anything with more than 10 billion cultures per capsule is effective apparently.

cookielove · 21/11/2015 11:31

popz what are the probiotics for?

E had another Dr appointment yesterday, who was really unprofessional, which dh said to him. As he had not read any of his notes so was clueless :( he gave E antibiotics but didn't explain to dh why!! So I called back and its cause he has infected eye lids!

LaLaLaaaa · 21/11/2015 11:59

Infected eyelids? Wow how did that happen? Conjunctivitis?

Thanks popz!

Just got appointment letter fit scan on Friday for B - stupidly I've now started getting excited that it might show hip is fine so the splint can come off should stop raising my hopes!

I'm going to nct nearly new sale today. Last one near killed me on the crush. This ones in bigger hall. Not taking B - can you imagine trying to carry a baby whose legs stick out at 45 degrees around a packed room of crazed shoppers!? Ha! Leaving him with Dh so I can get stuck in. Need to get cheap babygrows coz he's needing to wear them all the time now and we don't have enough in the larger size he now is (6-9 months at 4 months old!)

DulcetMoans · 21/11/2015 14:45

Ive been to a NNS today as well la! It's bigger than my local one, I take J in a sling. He had a grump then fell asleep hanging over the side like an idiot. Trying to realine a sleepy baby isn't easy. Down side of the sale today is its in a posher town so some things more pricey.

Good on your DH to say something cookie! Bad news on infection though.

Socks is a good idea popz, we did that in the early weeks as he's a bugger for scratching himself.

Hairspray was good fun if you want a couple hours doing something mindless. Not my favourite though! But better than bloody Ghost, that was awful!

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 16:39

That's very interesting about probiotics. I have IBS and it's tons worse with stress/anxiety so I can see the link.

Gx for the splint off soon la it can't be easy for you or B.

DH is far better with B than me at the moment Sad. I think B is picking up on my anxiety - I am getting really stressed at bedtime. It's been since Monday night when he slept in 20 minute bursts all night. I now can't get him to go to bed, he falls asleep on me but won't transfer. The only way we can get some sleep is to put him in the car seat, then when he wakes for a feed, put him in the crib. I'm really not happy about it but it's all that works and I'm exhausted.

We started water babies yesterday. He loved it, even going underwater, he didn't cry at all, except when getting dry but the changing rooms were cold. He didn't sleep any better last night though Sad

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 16:40

Hope the infection clears up soon Cookie

Fleurchamp · 21/11/2015 17:58

Don't say that purple - we start water babies next week and was told he will sleep, ahem, like a baby afterwards.

Quick question - did you buy a happy nappy and separate wetsuit or an all in one?

Eyelid infection? These babies get all sorts of odd ailments, don't they?

Poor S is constipated and has been trying to squeeze a poo out all day. I was hoping DH would get the lucky nappy but he has just gone out and there has been an ominous sound coming from the nappy region..

Did you get any bargains at the NNS?

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 18:05

We got huggies little swimmers and a happy nappy for over it. I spent £40 on a new swimsuit for me, plus £15 on goggles. The whole process has been very expensive! But he absolutely loved it, can't wait to take him again. We might even go to the swimming baths tomorrow too

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 18:07

Sorry meant to say, it was so warm in there he didn't need anything else. One of my friends had a wet suit and were told not to use it

cookielove · 21/11/2015 19:45

fleur I think it depends on the temp of the pool and what your baby can stand, our pool was quite cool but E only ever went in with the Huggies swim nappies and a happy nappy over it (which you must have for water babies) some babies then had the wetsuit or swimsuit on top. E absolutely loved his swimming but it didn't affect his sleep in the slightest. But he has always liked sleep so was never hard to keep him asleep!

I need to get to a Nns haven't been to one since I had E and I love them!

la we thought conjunctivitis but instead were given oral antibiotics for a lid infection. He does look so poorly and his temp is high. So we have given them to him and fx it resolves itself!

LaLaLaaaa · 21/11/2015 20:07

Poor wee munchkin cookie!

Fleur we just out B in huggies swim nappy then happy nappy. Pool is 34 degrees. No swimming for us though until splint comes off :(. Such a shame, he loves it. Doesn't sleep more either!

Purple did you try the suggestion I sent you? It has worked for my friends whose babies wouldn't go o sleep. Transfer is tricky - B sleeps so much sounder in the splint, think it's like a swaddle!

What do you have your babies sleeping in in winter? Room is 17 degrees and we've got him in sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag. Bag just about fits over the splint

Wee boy has sore patches on his legs :( I'm putting lansinoh on the patches and padding the splint to try to prevent it. We've got a new scan date of next Friday. Praying for good news.

NNS was good! I thought about taking B but I'd have to take splint off to stick him in sling and it's a big faff so I left him with dh. I got a beautiful new looking snowsuit for a fiver, a big blow up donut seat I can prop him in and a load of babygrows. Spent £8 in total. Fabulous!

LaLaLaaaa · 21/11/2015 20:10

Poor S Fleur! Are you still bf or did you end up switching, I know you were considering it after the mastitis? (If you'd rather not say then don't feel you have to!)

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 21:53

La I forgot all about it, gonna try it shortly now. Think I have the hang of it. We do a jiggly sway which sometimes works. Getting him to sleep isn't usually the issue, it's the transfer and keeping him asleep that is.

purplewhale · 21/11/2015 21:58

Ooh we love our donut, it lives upstairs and he goes in it if he's awake when I'm getting ready in a morning. I do wonder how hygienic it is to have him in it on the bathroom floor when I'm on the loo though, however he screams if I leave him in his crib

Our room is 18-19 degrees, B is in a long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog grobag. He never seems too cold or too hot

RPopz · 21/11/2015 22:19

Good haul La! I loved our donut but I left it to late to use really. He only sat in it for a week and then started standing in it instead!

Poor E. Hope the abx kick in soon for him.

Cookie the probiotics are supposed to help with anxiety.

RPopz · 21/11/2015 22:21

Minipopz is in a fleecey sleepsuit, a 1 tog sleepbag and a blanket over the top. I've only got one warm sleepbag that fits him now! It's 17-18 degrees in our room.

Pisghetti · 22/11/2015 00:23

I'm in the spare room. DP is in bed with a couple of bags of milk defrosting and a bottle warmer. I'm so excited! Sleeeeeeeeeeep!!!

Toast85 · 22/11/2015 03:43

Pis that sounds like heaven! Hope you do sleep. Yesterday morning Melba drained a bottle of ebm with DH, no fuss. Shame it was only 60ml and didn't fill her up for long, but I hate seeing it wasted when she usually has a couple of mouthfuls then refuses and screams so I hadn't prepared any more. But yesterrday was v promising! Next time I'll make sure there is more. Then the challenge will be to repeat that performance at midnight so it means I get a bit more sleep one night. *

La* splint sounds v tricky, but will be for the best. I'm quite impressed by maxicosi offering car seats.

Dulcet I would have been at that nns (posher town Grin ) but saw friends and didn't have time. Have you been to any of the little pickles markets? There are a few coming up in December fairly nearby.

DulcetMoans · 22/11/2015 06:05

What a great idea pis! Hope you're not too excited to sleep!

I would recommend that one still toast, parents there have a good quality stuff. They just want more for it too! I went to a little pickles one over your way when I was pregnant, it was quite good. Not sure I can get DH to agree to anymore though!

Glad he loved water babies purple, it does seem to be popular. We are hoping to go swimming for the first time this week as DH is off. Hoping for a good reaction, and secretly want him to sleep like fleur does!

Didn't buy any big items this time fleur, mainly clothes. Got some puppets too though and wooden toys.

Those with the fresher babies - are you getting them anything for Christmas? Not that he will know it's Christmas! Actually, those with older babies would have had a first Christmas too!

We are having an up every hour kind of night. Plus I had to change his nappy and he basically screamed like I was killing him!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/11/2015 07:53

How did it go pis?? I hope you're well rested this morning!

I don't think I sleep very well with B beside me - I have crazy dreams and feel like I've run a marathon in the morning. But he only had one wake up last night for feed. Was then wide awake at 6am so I'm downstairs with him while Dh sleeps upstairs as he didn't get home until 3am. I love this morning nap because I get all my chores done and have my breakfast in the time he sleeps.

I hate night nappy changes dulcet that was bad luck :(. Have you tried ignoring him when he whinges? I used to pick B up instantly when he made noise during the night but I now find if I ignore him he actually goes back to sleep. If it's a proper wake up he starts to cry and then I pick him up. I use the video monitor under the covers to see if he's actually awake as normally he's whinging in his sleep.

Swimming is great - B loves it! He loves being splashed on the face and will kick his legs in delight. It's really helped with baths as he loves them now. Just need to fix the bit after the bath!

RPopz · 22/11/2015 09:29

Pis!! How was it? Hope you're feeling delirious with well rested-ness this morning Grin

I'm not getting minipopz anything for Christmas - my Mum has bought him half a bloody toy shop already Confused

RPopz · 22/11/2015 09:31

I did just buy him some wooden toys from Lidl though - they've got a baby event on I think. Loads of lovely stuff - shape sorters, pull along toys, activity cubes, musical instruments, play food etc. Starting from £3.99. Would definitely recommend a trip there if you've got one nearby.

ZylaB · 22/11/2015 09:46

H loves swimming too :)

I want to find a nns, they sound exciting, though I'm banned from buying her any more toys!

Going out today for my be,aged birthday meal, I'm so excited! The diet has gone totally to pot this week anyway so I'm having pudding too! Bet I get my first gain tomorrow, oh well, birthday is a good excuse!

Had a massive row with mrZ about the fact that I have to think of everything for H on the weekend...the common sense stuff like nappies and snacks in the bag. Actually knowing when to feed her solids etc, we have the same disagreement every few weeks... Still, he took her out for a long walk to the shop with a bottle of milk and was gone nearly 2 hours, I had a nap on the sofa!

Pisghetti · 22/11/2015 12:13

8.5 hours. I feel amazing! I recommend sleep. She actually had a really good night so MrPis didn't find it too traumatic. She took about 2oz at 4.30am and 4oz at 6.30am. I defrosted way more than we needed so a 5oz bag went into her porridge this morning and we've got a 6oz bag knocking about. I'm tempted to refreeze but not sure it's a good idea.....

I'm not getting her much for Christmas. DS was also a march baby and he had no idea what was going on. We have a picture of him surrounded by presents and he's lying there drinking a bottle totally oblivious to it all! We got him one present and were given loads by family. I've got BabyPis two of the wooden toys from Lidl and I might get some pj's and things like that.

cookielove · 22/11/2015 13:58

Hello all :)

Glad your night went well pis sleep is the best!

Last year E was 4 months at Christmas he was oblivious to it all! He really likes opening things so I think he will enjoy it this year. He is still small enough that the presents I have bought him are hidden in plain sight in his room and he doesn't notice neither does dh Hmm

zyla dh is the same he wouldn't have a clue what to put in his bag, I don't think he has ever packed it. At the weekends dh would sort out E if I wasn't around but I do most of the general care. Dh is great with him though and gets up with him in the morning so I get a lie in.

Today he was wide awake at 4:30am, my neighbours had a party and at midnight the host woke me up to ask if I would let him in as either me or the lady above me had thrown a water bomb down on them (we were both asleep so not us) it takes me an hr to resettles then E stirs as they are still being loud, he then starts chatting at 2;30, 3:30 then up at 4:30. I kept him till 6:20 then Michael grabbed him and I slept in till 10:30. No apology from the neighbour for waking me up and then the lady above us just knocked and it wasn't her either!
