Gin for you happy.

Why were you at work so long? Thata bananas!

Its DSs birthday today. A bit poignant as we've no family now to celebrate with. I had all these plans about how I was going to do it........I'm trying to out that out of my head.

Instead its just me and DS as DH is at work obvs. I blew up a foil balloon for him and he went crazy chasing it around the carpet!

Later when DH gets home we'll stick a candle in a swiss roll. God it sounds awful written down and I am horribly aware how alone we are, but at least DS doesn't care.

Next birthday hopefully he'll be in a creche and will have little buddies!

Annarose2014 · 11/11/2015 11:47

By the way, presents were stickle bricks (they have had a forensic examination with great concentration) and a drum that lights up when you bang it (best thing EVER! BANGBANGBANG!).

moggle · 11/11/2015 11:59

Happy birthday to DS Anna! It sounds a perfect first birthday to be honest! I'm sure he is loving it. I'm in work today, DD's birthday is tomorrow, and lots of people have said "Ooh first birthday - the only one you get away with doing sod all!" so I am trying to remember that :-)
Having said that I realised I forgot to bake her cake last night, bugger, so will take a couple of hours flexitime and do it this afternoon. Oops. We're out for dinner tonight so can't do it then.
Our present pile from us includes: a tambourine, maracas, finger puppets from Ikea (they are AMAZING!), little table and chairs for her playroom, a couple of books, and dungarees and a snowsuit from jojo. Very exciting!

Arkkorox · 11/11/2015 12:57

Happy birthday to your DS Anna!

The only birthday where you can do nothing? I wish. There seems to be a total of 4 days of stuff planned. And none of it by me! Anna I'll send you dps mum cause she's more than I can handle! Hope you have a nice birthday evening!

MrsAukerman · 11/11/2015 13:01

Happy birthday minirose Cake

moggle · 11/11/2015 13:08

Yes ark upon questioning my colleagues none admitted to actually having done "sod all" just that they could've got away with it! We just have GPs over but I'm already stressed about it although that's probably because of the sodding cake...

Arkkorox · 11/11/2015 13:42

Oh god don't even start me on that. I woke up to ELEVEN text from dps mum with different cake suggestions. I appreciate the help an all but at 6:30am I am not thinking about peppa pig cakes. I don't even like peppa pig! Dd has never seen it.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 11/11/2015 20:27

Ds is 1 on 20th we are having a mini fireworks party this weekend to celebrate and on his bday am hoping dh has remembered to book annual leave. The weekend after his bday we shall do a day trip to see Santa somewhere we tend to have taken ds1 that weekend as less busy and cheaper wherever we go and maybe make it a yrly bday treat day out for ds2 now. Bday present wise from us he has a toot toot garage, a Vtech phonics bus, a shape sorter and some wooden puzzles. From family a slide, a ride on and more toys!!

Although am looking forward to Xmas I am not looking forward to working 4 days after Xmas 3 days suits me better but doesn't suit the family budget

Arkkorox · 11/11/2015 20:29

Dp isn't allowed any time off in December so we're going to take her to brighton sea life center at the end of November instead. I'm so excited Grin

happypotamus · 12/11/2015 06:28

Happy birthday Anna's DS and babymoggle. Hope you both have/ had lovely days.

DD carried on vomiting until yesterday afternoon, but didn't overnight (unless it was after 4.30am and I didn't hear on the monitor, I've not been in to check this morning I just realised). I have to go to a mandatory training day at work today but, fortunately, my parents are happy to look after her still and, if necessary, I will come home after the first couple of sessions and I think it is possible to do the rest as online training modules (no idea when I would fit that in during a shift and manager would not be pleased but nevermind). My mum should know how to deal with a poorly baby having had 4 babies of her own, so my worry is that DD won't drink as she doesn't really drink water in a cup, preferring to pour it over her or spit it back out, and yesterday she breastfed loads despite then vomiting most of it back but apparently some breastmilk should be absorbed even if it looks like it is all vomited up. At least it isn't a 13hr shift today, because I wouldn't be able to leave that and I don't think I could physically do it on the little sleep I have had this week.

Arkkorox · 12/11/2015 09:47

Happy birthday babymoggle!

happy I hope things improve soon and you all get some rest. Sounds grim.

Strawberryfield12 · 12/11/2015 10:48

Happy birthday baby Anna and baby Moggle!

Been a bit of a start of the week here. DD fell of the bed on weekend. We were out and about with her both Saturday and Sunday, she didn't have much chance to crawl, but then on Monday I noticed she was using elbow for one arm when crawling. Otherwise she was just like always, laughing, smiling. We couldn't decide if we should take to the doctors till later evening. GP had a look and sent us to the hospital to do x-ray. In A&E nurse checked her out and said that most likely nothing wrong as DD was charming everybody all the time and didn't show any pain or distress. On x-ray it appear she had fracture on her wrist Shock. The bone hasn't snapped as at this age their bones are flexible, but she got the cast on her arm anyway. I was worried how she would take having the cast on, but she seems completely cool with it. She goes around as if there's nothing wrong with it.

Annarose2014 · 12/11/2015 11:31

Awww, poor baby. At least it mustn't have hurt much. How long do you have to have the cast on?

Happy Birthday baby moggle!

happy I really hope the worst might be over now if she's stopped vomiting.

We've had storms here for the last three days and today is pretty bad too. Its too wet and blowy to spend much time outside. Horizontal rain.

Racking my brains for places to take him every day that are "inside" is bloody difficult. We've already been to every pet shop in the vicinity to endlessly look at rabbits and birds and fish. (The Aquarium costs a bomb so am leaving that till he's older!)

What do you all do on horrible days?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 12/11/2015 14:16

Eurgh I have a virus headache puking sore throat came home from work at lunchtime just had hr sleep n now trying a cup black tea before having to head out for boys typically ill on a short day so have no choice.

Anna pet shop are good for wasting an hr looking at the animals

Strawberryfield12 · 12/11/2015 18:53

Anna no, don't think it has hurt too much. She didn't have no swelling, no bruise, nothing. I would never guess there was something wrong if she wouldn't been still crawling when I refuse to walk her around. Doctors said this kind of injury heals itself within 4-6 weeks and for younger babies like her it would be pretty quick. I was asking the doctor if I should let DD crawl with the cast, she laughed "good luck with that! She will not be able to!" Guess what, she is crawling with the whole thing on. Hmm

haventgotaclue1 · 13/11/2015 08:26

Oh goodness! It seems that lots of us are in the wars at the moment. ...hope everyone gets better soon.

Dd still pretty poorly - not eaten any solid food since Tuesday pm; only things going in her are water, calpol and breast milk. ..have upped the bf from 2x per day to 4 in the hope that it'll see her through til she starts eating again. .. temp reached a new record high of 39.6 on Wednesday pm..now averaging 38 ish. Still only sleeping when we sit her up due to cough so dh and I on 3 hr rota during nights. ..

MrsAukerman · 13/11/2015 09:31

Poor babies!
It's me that's suffering here. Got the runs and hot/ cold feelings and nausea. Apparently it's going round locally. Trying not to pass it to ds. I'm meant to be back at work on Monday but if I feel like this that won't be happening. They're going to hate me!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/11/2015 13:00

Mrs A this is how I have been 24hrs later I am feeling better than I was not 100% but yesterday was pitiful and sleep was fitful and not beneficial hoping to be more normal tommorow as having a fireworks party.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/11/2015 13:01

Oh n yes I am naughty mummy who has let baby have 2 breast feeds in day as guaranteed to get him to sleep albeit on me but I can rest on sofa then - all for the greater good and all that (plus I then don't have to conjure up snacks for him!!)

moggle · 13/11/2015 17:19

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, DD had a great day yesterday with both sets of grandparents and my brother, SIL and their 3 wk old baby. It was the first time the cousins had met each other and I was amazed by DD's reaction to her- I thought she'd be indifferent but she sat there for a good few minutes so still, touching her hand and listening to her little funny noises. Considering she does not like sitting quietly on laps unless she is very tired this was amazing!
She loved her presents- the post box and a fisher price piggy bank are getting played with most. She also loved her cards and sits there reading them like a book :-) she enjoyed her cake but think it gave her a sugar crash!! Bless her. Today I've put her in some smaller 12-18m clothes, can't quite believe she's one already.

Oh no poor little ministrawberry! I hope it isn't getting her down- doesn't sound like it!

MrsAukerman · 15/11/2015 07:20

Morning!
I'm back at work tomorrow. Eeeeek.
Just in case I am too busy to post much I'd just like to say thanks for all your companionship over the last 21 months in some cases. It's been a rollercoaster ride and knowing others are in the same boat has been invaluable.
Any tips for returning to work?
We've already implemented dh and I doing alternate nights with ds and from Monday we'll be doing alternate nights cooking dinner.
Anything else I can do to make it easier?

happypotamus · 15/11/2015 11:50

Good luck tomorrow mrsA Hope you are feeling better and it goes well.

DD seemed to have a 24hr bug, almost exactly 24hrs after she started vomiting she felt better and so she was awake half the night on Wednesday because she was hungry. Remember when she failed her HV assessment last month? The HV said we would have to return after a month to see if she had learnt enough gross motor skills, I had given up expecting to hear about another appointment, but she rang on Friday to arrange to come to the house next Friday!

Hope everyone, you and your babies, are feeling better.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 15/11/2015 14:11

Good luck mrsA - on non work days I try to make casseroles, curries etc n batch cook and then on work nights we have a "freezer pre made dinner" and can generally be done in 20-30mins.

Other tip get up half hr before everyone so you are ready although baby woke before me so was getting ready with him up but happens less so now.

We had baby birthday party yesterday evening luckily it stopped raining for the 2hrs we had it and fireworks were a success 5 adults n 7 boys was more than enough n did easy food due to me having been ill Inc a brought cake which me n baby couldn't eat as wasn't dairy free but will bake one for his actual bday on Fri

ladydolly · 15/11/2015 14:17

MrsA Good luck for tomorrow, are you back full time? Me and dp have fallen into a routine now. We get everything ready the night before, he does her bag and sorts the kitchen while I put her to bed. I cook dinner while she eat her tea in the high chair. I try and prep for meals the next few days at the same time and the slow cooker is invaluable. Getting the cm to give breakfast has been a huge help too. In terms of work, I found it hard to get anything done the first few days/weeks because everyone wanted a chat and catch up so I put in one lunch a week to do that and have something to look forward to. I do my teaco shop on the app so I add to it through the week and use my lunch breaks for errands and bills etc. It took a couple of weeks to get into the flow. In terms of leaving dc's. I felt completely heartbroken that 1st morning but I got stuck in and the day flew by. The only thing I can say is it gets easier. Having had dd home one day when she had chicken pox (she was contagious but happy as larry other than that) it was kind of reassuring that she was clearly bored out of her mind with just me and needs the stimulation of other kids around her. You'll be fine. Xx

MrsAukerman · 15/11/2015 14:17

That would mean me getting up at 0515!
Dh leaves after me and will do all childminder drop offs so should be fine. Got curry in oven now that should do tomorrow night too.
