Operation night cold turkey is going well so far. We've not had the sudden sleeping through that our friend had but definitely improving. DH deserves a medal and doesn't he fucking know it

Strawberryfield12 · 30/09/2015 19:42

MrsA you are giving water instead of milk, right?

MrsAukerman · 30/09/2015 19:44

Yeah, DH gives water in a bottle. It mainly gets refused but shows you're offering something.

ladydolly · 01/10/2015 05:17

Another 'ok' night here. Down at 7, slept through the banging dishwasher installation. Woke at 12 and straight back down. Woke at 1.45 and I brought her into my bed because I couldn't risk a fight to get her down again and thankfully fed and then sleep sideways and snoring. Dp took my place at 4 when I got up and left and she's still out now. Dp can't sleep through the snoring though, poor love.

Ds must be teething again - dribbly yesterday and last night awake for 2 hrs until 3.30am even with Nurofen.

I fucking hate teething. I feel like we'd have an ok time of nights otherwise, so resent it deeply. Am also quite sick with this kidney infection I ignored too long, so I'm finding everything a struggle. Feels like someones taken a baseball bat to my back. DH is being lovely though - "I expect you'll be needing wine and chocolate tonight?" YESYESIWILL.

Yesterday DS stood unaided for 8 seconds. We counted with bated breath. He didn't know he was doing it though, he can stand with one hand on your knee now and he took my phone and absentmindly turned it over and over with both hands. Of course as soon as he became conscious he was doing it - plonk! It was very exciting though.

I later went out and bought him a pair of adorable size 4 wellies in Next. More in hope than expectation, tbh!

This is a hugely awkward age for footwear isn't it? We're already growing out of size 12-18 month booties etc but I dont want to put hard shoes on him yet. At home he's barefoot usually but its getting colder in the pram for just socks these days.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/10/2015 17:00

Anna look up barefoot shoes or jojomaman do soft leather shoes like a slipper think up to 18-24mths size.

Well less waking last couple nights but up at 5.15/5.30 for day and coz I get ready for work at 6 no point giving him to husband although at 5.30 this morning I did just for half hr lay down before getting up.

Hard work working and childcare etc for 2 on my normal days I leave at 7.20 and after getting the boys from two different places and sit in traffic we get in at 5.30 and quick dinner for husband n I goes on usually a defrosted pre cooked meal like casserole, pasta bake etc we eat at 6 luckily ds 1 eats at cm and baby has some snacks when we eat while dinner cooks baby has bf so least I get to sit down then it's bath stories n bed so feel like hello children eat quick bath quick bed goodbye children and next day repeat - how anyone does it full time I don't know. 4 days is going to be hell after Xmas

MrsAukerman · 01/10/2015 17:07

All my yummy mummy friends have Bobux soft leather things for their babies who are crawling outside / cruising. Similar to the JoJo ones I think.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/10/2015 19:30

Mrs A there are quite a few brands I found jojo one's were pretty good and cheapest especially with a discount code and free delivery :)

ladydolly · 01/10/2015 20:51

I got dd some Inch Blue soft leather shoes for 'pre walkers' they're great but £20 ... i got mine for £8 on ebay though.

Urgh well this cold thing is horrid Sad both me and dd have it and it's vile!! Not even a lot of snot it's just feeling like crap! So of course everything has gone to pot! Sleeping, eating etc

Strawberryfield12 · 02/10/2015 10:16

We bought DD inch blue also, they are good. Will confess of paying whole £20 as we got too excited about her first shoes on a weekend away in Cotswold. If you run a quick search of baby leather shoes on Amazon there are some very similar looking for under tenner. So no more inch blue any tim soon, although she is wearing them almost every day and might be one of the few items which are in bits by the time she grows out of them. For when it gets colder have got her these:

www.thewhitecompany.com/the-little-white-company/childrens-bedroom/bathtime/textured-bunny-booties--white/

The full price is extortionate, but they were for a period of time in the offers for £5, just before they went back on full price again. Have seen this happen to few of their things, so well worth checking the offers tab from time to time.

Annarose2014 · 02/10/2015 15:15

At the moment we have him in these booties in the largest size as they were cheap:

www.dunnesstores.com/tigger-sock-top-booties/babywear-0---12-months/dunnesstores/fcp-product/6440938?colour=orange

They're not much more than slippers but at least they stay on thanks to the sock top.

I must look at the inch blue ones. I'm also going to get one of those packaway waterproof dungarees from Jojomamanbebe for crawling on wet grass (the bloody grass is never ever ever dry here) so must look at shoes there too.

Annarose2014 · 02/10/2015 15:33

The mumsnet 10% off code on JJMMBB is MM21 by the way! Just worked there for me, so yay!

(Didn't buy the booties though as a bit pricey)

ladydolly · 02/10/2015 19:33

I also got a muddy puddles jacket on ebay, waterproof on outside and fleece inside, just need to find some matching trousers on there!

Ooooh we have a top tooth emerging!

What are you all getting / doing for first birthdays? I don't know where to start!!!!

Annarose2014 · 03/10/2015 00:36

Very bloody little, Ark. We'll probably bring him to my mothers nursing home so she can give him something. But I can't see us making much effort. Its not like he'll know whats going on!

I really don't fancy giving him cake at this age and if we all sing happy birthday at him he'll probably get scared! I also don't want him to get loads of toys as he has enough already so am not telling people, really.

.....god I sound a bit joyless, don't I?! Blush

Arkkorox · 03/10/2015 06:32

Haha anna not at all! People have asked me if we're having a party and then I feel like a heartless cow saying ' why? She's one! ' Confused

Her actual birthday dp is taking the day off and were going to take her to the aquarium. Christmas is only 3 weeks after dds birthday so I don't want to get her that much and not have anything left for Christmas to distract her so I can stuff my face

Strawberryfield12 · 03/10/2015 09:12

Ark for the very birthday I don't think we will be doing too much, at least there will not be any invited guests and stuff. The day is on Friday, it will be 3 of us, celebrating quietly. We are going away for that weekend though, there is a big Christmas market in North Norfolk those dates. We will go there on Saturday and stay locally for the night. Thinking of the dates, I recon her birthday we might be going to get the Christmas tree and decorate it, which should be all challenge considering DD will try to pull down both individual decorations and the whole tree... I might have a look for a low sugar mini cake recipe (yoghurt or something) more for symbolic purposes than anything else.

Well, saw somebody on FB saying that the first birthday of you DCs is the only you can have like YOU want it. No idea how it pans out in real life, but I suppose next year there will be friends from nursery around the house? I do like that her birthday for us will be some sort of start of the Christmas time though (Not the 1st October, John Lewis!).

Strawberryfield12 · 03/10/2015 09:14

Actually a savory cake could be an option for yr1 celebrations.

Arkkorox · 03/10/2015 10:21

strawberry I quite like dds birthday being the start of christmas for us too. The 7th is usually around the sort of time we get our tree up etc.

Oh god the tree! I love my big christmas trees Sad im wondering if the play pen would fit round one lol

Annarose2014 · 03/10/2015 16:54

Sadly my worst fears about my Mum came true this morning. DS has been wonderful all day, cuddly and comforting and giggling away at everyone. So so so glad I have him, otherwise it'd feel like the world was ending.

We are back at home now and I am MNing just to escape into other peoples lives for an hour, tbh.

Arkkorox · 03/10/2015 17:26

Oh Anna Im so sorry

MrsAukerman · 03/10/2015 17:36
