Arkkorox · 20/09/2015 07:57

She actually went straight back to sleep in my bed thanks god so we got Another couple of hours. Dp has just taken her off me so I can go back to sleep. Hope baby is feeling better very soon!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/09/2015 12:45

Thanks ark just glad today is not a work day!!

Snot machine is dosed up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and seems to be doing the trick just wolfed down a bowl of chicken biriyani!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/09/2015 15:17

Well that's a top tooth cut through

moggle · 20/09/2015 15:17

Had an awful (for DD) night on Friday- she was awake from 2-5am. DH and I disagreed how to deal with it which made it worse... She was more whinging / shouting than upset crying so I wanted to leave her but DH went in. Whinging then escalated to hysterical screaming when she realised it wasn't me coming to cuddle her so then I had to sit there with her for ages while DH went back to bed. GRRRR!
Last night I was on my own (rugby widow) so decided to try my way and let her WIO - whinge it out! She woke at midnight and whinged for a few minutes and then went back to sleep. She woke again at 4am and was whinging on and off for half an hour while I watched on the monitor.... In the end she lost her last dummy and banged her head on the cot so I went in, fed her and put her back down- she cried for 30sec and then lay down quietly. So much improved and best of all I can tell DH that my way is clearly the right way! Win!

Annoyingly she woke up with another cold so looks like we are in for another week of crap. Or maybe just maybe it's a tooth finally coming through....

Annarose2014 · 21/09/2015 09:41

Yes I'm firmly in the whinging is not crying camp.

DS has been a bit snuffly the last couple of days but we have no idea whether its a cold or not as he's never been sick a day in his life. He's not chesty and his nose isn't running, its just his breathing is more audible and he's snoring a bit.

Is this what a cold is like? I'm a bloody nurse and I don't know if my child has a cold or not. Hmm

Yesterday I was placed in an oncology ward. Half of my patients wont see Christmas. Its safe to say Oncology is NOT for me!

Greenstone · 21/09/2015 10:02

Wow, are any of us getting any sleep? Probably there are loads of people keeping quiet about their calm nights for fear of being torn limb from limb Wink It does seem like many of us are going through a bad stretch.

Another night of DD being awake for ages. Brought her into bed last night for a while in the hope that she would just drift off- as if! She ended up biting my nipple and I screamed and then she was in floods of tears. Poor thing.

Ark re. throwing the bottle at the door, I find it really hard to stay cool at night too. I appal myself sometimes tbh. Not sure what it is, I'm completely fine by day and pretty accepting of everything but my tolerance threshold at night seems shot to pieces.

lady congrats on the new house! Yay! What's it like? We still have unpacked stuff everywhere. DH and I were just talking about the fact that I will have to take the kids to granny's for the weekend sometime so that he can finish the painting and putting back on the skirting. With both of us working and DD2 crawling (and dd1 'helping' - although she's really good) it's just hard to see how it would get done otherwise. I made the mistake of looking at a lovely home in the paper and now I want to cry: how do people with small children manage to have such cool homes that involve that level of customzing and DIY? how? how?

Anyway so sorry to hear about babydolly and chickenpox - yikes! So will you have to take loads of time off work? Neither of mine have had it yet but I'd say they'll catch it this year sometime at nursery.

happy keeping everything crossed that you get that 6-hour stretch...

MrsA enjoy Ireland, whereabouts are you?

moggle we have those arguments too but DD2 would never ever WIO. The O part of WIO just would not happen Hmm great that it works for your DD and your theory was right!

east hope he's better soon, poor little guy.

Greenstone · 21/09/2015 10:05

Here's the cool home by the way

Greenstone · 21/09/2015 10:06

another try

ladydolly · 21/09/2015 13:24

green It's a 3 bed townhouse, took a couple of days to realise that we can't hear each other when we're in different rooms like we could in our little flat! We cheated though and got it painted and carpeted before we moved in but like you, we really need to pack babydolly off for a day or 2 to get sorted. Being poorly is making her particularly clingy today though so I barely managed to wash up let alone unpack boxes. I've taken today off and mil is on her way here to take care of her the rest of the week (could do without my mil here when the house is chaos but am grateful for the childcare!).

Snoozy hugs to everyone else getting no sleep...

We're near Sligo at the moment but were in kinvara on the edge of the burren before that.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 22/09/2015 04:18

Lady we used to live in a town house our bedroom was on top floor and ds1 on middle floor sure that's why he slept well.

Baby is slowly getting better although up every 2hrs tonight looking at positive 4.15 means he will be back down by 5 at latest so I get another hr before getting up for work whereas he could have woken at 5am then no point going back to bed for me.

Arkkorox · 22/09/2015 04:51

Once again I am up with tissue shoved up my nose. How does she know right when to throw her head back! Not even a tanrum this time she threw herself back to be cuddled and caught me :(

However! We have progress and im not dead anymore! Dd slept through last night and tonight I didn't hear a peep out of her from 8 so finaly got my evening of catch up tv with a glass of wine undisturbed. She woke up at half 4 but is now fast asleep snuggled up next to me so can't complain really!

Sorry to those with shitty nights still CakeBrewWine it WILL happen eventually

catg83 · 22/09/2015 07:45

Morning all. Been a bit AWOL. Been stuck in a rut of feeling hectic but getting nothing done. The past few days DS has been up at 5 and I have been able to feed him back to sleep so I can get a couple more hours. No such luck this morning and we have his 9 month check at 9.30. He is going to be a nightmare by then!

Read a bit of catch up. Sounds like there are a few poorly babies and a few sleepless nights. Hope you are all doing OK. Brew and Cake to those that need it

Strawberryfield12 · 22/09/2015 10:32

Anna it doesn't have to be cold. DD had something similar beginning of September and thought she has had her first ever cold. As it was just before flying away, was quite concerned if flying would make it worse. I even tried saline drops and aerator to get the noise out (I am def. OCD when it comes to DD's nose!), but nothing came out. Was told by the doctor that it could be simply something (she said what exactly) slightly swollen and making noise and told me simply leave it alone. Few days later everything had gone itself. Well done DS for not being ill all this time!

DD has started talking non-stop in some strange language. She isn't repeating dadadada, mamamama anymore, but makes her own words up and if you sat her face to face, she actually makes those expressions as if telling you something important. Can picture now how it will be having her talking properly.

Big hugs to all sleep deprived mummies. DD is as usual - has never slept through in her 9,5 months, but haven't given us proper shit night either, the usual 2 wakeups for quick feed and going back to sleep in 5 minutes.

Annarose2014 · 22/09/2015 22:45

Strawberry it kinda dissapeared without developing into anything so maybe it was just teething-induced-saliva-overload. Who knows. So still has his 10 month record of never being sick - which we're getting dangerously smug about to all and sundry & its going to bite us in the ass bigtime one of these days!

He has just started a worrying trend of trying to climb up on things. The laundry basket was upside down in the kitchen earlier as he'd been messing with it, and he pulls himself up on it and then his knee comes up trying to get on top of it! Very alarming.

Annarose2014 · 23/09/2015 00:39

Aaaah, up 5 times so far! Threw some Nurofen down his throat after midnight so fingers crossed it drugs him up works.

Also kept up by the fact my stupid video monitor has stopped charging at the cable port unless I lash it in tightly with a hair elastic stretched all across the screen. I only bought it in January!

Thank God Amazon is sending me out a new one. DH hates Amazon cos he's a big hippie, but all of 2 mins on Online Chat with a nice chap called Illya and a new one is in the post. Can't beat it.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/09/2015 04:44

Anna hope you are getting some sleep now and hooray for Amazon customer service.

I am up for third time I think 9.30, 12, and now eurgh.

Yesterday an accident on main ring road meant it was closed at rush hr I don't use it but made surrounding traffic awful took 35mins to do 5min drive from childminder after getting baby from nursery I drive the 1min to cm for ds1 then home admittedly at rush hr it takes 15mins to drive it but I had left earlier from work and lucky I did as would have taken longer later took husband an hr to do a 15min journey was a nightmare.

happypotamus · 23/09/2015 20:26

Monday night I went to work, and DH had a terrible night with DD. She woke up nearly every hour until 4 and was a nightmare to get back to sleep because she is used to me feeding her back to sleep, but last night she woke up at 9 for about 10mins then slept until 7am!!! She has never slept anywhere near that well. Maybe she learnt on Monday that there was no point waking up because I wasn't there. I would like a repeat tonight but don't actually expect it.

MrsAukerman · 23/09/2015 20:33
ladydolly · 23/09/2015 21:00

Ha ha ha @ MrsA!! I got 3 hours in a row last night, that's the longest stretch I've had in weeks.

I think my milk is drying up. Dd started biting my nipples when she came off and when she didn't want to feed and she's been waking to feed hourly. Then this week at work I've barely managed 0.5 oz after 20 mins pumping. I'm gutted. But kiiiiind of interested in formula at night in the hope she sleeps longer. Tonight I gave her a breastfeed then dp topped up with formula so we'll see.

Chicken pox has nearly gone, she's been a trooper through it I couldn't have put up with mil for 2 full days

OP posts:
MrsAukerman · 23/09/2015 21:12

I wouldn't bother with formula at this stage. Cow's milk should be fine and cheaper.

Strawberryfield12 · 24/09/2015 08:39

Last two nights DD has been waking up so often I lost the count, at least she goes back very soon and her bed is still next to ours, so I don't feel completely rotten.

Yesterday DH took DD to the swings and she has been laughing her head off about the whole thing.

I don't like the way Amazon treats its employees according to several sources, but honestly I can't imagine my life without it anymore. I have caught myself that I would get online and order small things if I am not sure if and in which shop I can buy the particular item. By the time I go to shops and hunt down the thing Amazon would have delivered it twice with the Prime.

excitedforbaba · 24/09/2015 10:34

Ark glad to hear dd is sleeping better for you! We are back to shitty sleep again. She had a little cold last week and managed to sleep in the cot to 3am then straight back over once she got into bed to 8am. Now she's better she's waking before I even go to bed around 11 then she is all over the place in our bed wriggling and rocking so I think she has wee pains but unsure if it's teeth or tummy.
Gave calpol on Tuesday night and she was wide awake for hours watching cartoons in the hope she would just snooze off! Eh no!

Iv changed her feeding about a little as she was having a bottle at 3pm then her bedtime one at 6.15 so Iv swapped it & her lunch to see how that goes.

Something is wakening her I can't wait to she's able to actually tell me what Confused

Greenstone · 24/09/2015 10:38

Does your DD go back down with a cuddle or dummy Strawberry or does she need a feed each time?
Interested to hear what you're all planning to do milk wise around the year mark. Breastfeeders, are you going to keep boobing or wean? For the babies on formula, will you be going straight to cow's milk?

DD2 has both, formula in her porridge and a cup of formula at nursery, then boob the rest of the time. I'm vaguely planning to keep going til about 13 months and then stop. I will feel really mixed about it. Will be delighted on the one hand to have my body back, but on the other, I'm fairly sure she's my last baby so it will certainly be a wrench. I'll have to get my ass into gear properly too, she's still keeping the pounds off I think, despite my diet containing more sugar than it should.

happy so delighted to hear about the good night! Don't feel bad about your DH dealing with it, consider everything your body has been through in the last year, pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period, the sleep deprivation - all of that takes its toll.

We had an awful night two nights ago, with DD up again for hours. Last night she was asleep by 6.45, then one feed at midnight, then slept 12.40am to 6.40am, had a big feed, then back down 7-8am. A really good night for her. I think the earlier night does help.

AnnaRose do you have anything to report TTC-wise?
