cazy kellymom and the gentle sleep solution crowd both say waking at 9m is totally normal. A couple of months ago I only fed twice a night and just ricked the other times but at the moment only boob will do and despite being exhausted, I'm happy to go with that for now.

I think it's a 1 year check, done at 11 months around here!

CazY777 · 09/09/2015 18:32

Thanks ladydolly, I think I'm just going to carry on with feeding too and see how it goes. I am exhausted as well, but do amaze myself sometimes that I can go to work after being woken up so many times in the night (though I'm not working full time and I do get really grumpy a lot!)

excitedforbaba · 09/09/2015 18:35

We have a check somewhere between 6 & 9 months then vaccinations at 1 year.

Zombie club...I like having a name for it I feel like there are suitcases under my eyes rather than just bags!

Is everyone back at work yet? I left my job as the hours of work couldn't have been changed to suit partners shifts and child care hours and am now looking for something more suitable but with this lack of sleep thing I don't know how I'd function Confused

Annarose2014 · 09/09/2015 21:59

I'm starting back this week - just one day a week cos its Agency. But its 12 hr days as its nursing. So DH is going to have one rather trying day every week. But he says he's up for it.

I may go up to 2 days a week in a while but for now one day will probably kill me! I hope I don't get placed in A&E on my first day back - can you imagine?!

excitedforbaba · 09/09/2015 22:11

Oh Annarose nothing like being thrown in at the deep end with a 12 hour shift Sad I'm still trying to read through some of the threads I missed so forgive me if you've mentioned recently but does your ds sleep well for you at night? I just don't know how mums put in one if those crazy sleepless nights and then function all day in a job! I would need several cups if coffee.. & I don't even drunk the stuff!!

Annarose2014 · 10/09/2015 00:04

His teeth are exploding up at a rate of knots - first three in the past week or so! And a fourth looking like its coming up now too!

So sleep has been shit. He's about to start kicking off any minute now by the sounds of it. However other than teeth he sleeps through, as he hasn't fed at night since Month 7 so I'm hoping that once this 4th tooth comes in he'll go back to sleeping through again.

God I hope so!

excitedforbaba · 10/09/2015 02:11

Dd got her first tooth at 5m and her second a few days later then we had an eye tooth come down next around 7m horrible time dreading the second! Now she has 7 little razors in there Hmm

Mine is up & in my bed already I just need sleeeeeeeep! If she started all this before I had any sleep at night I think I'd be more persistent

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/09/2015 02:55

Well day 1 at work went ok was busy so went quick baby had a better day at nursery but still unsettled at points and ds 1 was great at childminder. I left slightly earlier so got home with them at a reasonable time. Today I finish early to do school pick up.

As you can see we are still up at night

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 08:49

Well that was a better night, dd slept from 8 till 5 in her cot so I actually feel marginaly human today. Only difference I can think of is I didn't pick her up the last time I went into her when she was crying. Surely that one time of just patting till she was nearly asleep then letting her settle herself hasn't made that much of a difference?

Annarose2014 · 10/09/2015 09:10

Ark I was reading yesterday that sometimes when you pick them up you wake them up more.

Though its so random, who can tell?

DS slept through last night thank goodness. I had a good 6 hours. So why am I so shattered?!

This morning he woke at 5.55 and since he was just mooching around the cot I turned off the volume on the monitor. I figured we'd hear crying, but the chattering was just going to bother us. We didn't get up till 6.45 and he was fine in the meantime just pottering about. It makes me realise how much I've changed - I'd never have been relaxed enough to do that just 3 months ago!

happypotamus · 10/09/2015 09:12

We had a better night too. Woke a few times but managed to eventually get her back in the cot each time, much crying in her sleep disturbing me too.

ark according to DD's red book there is a 9-12 month check, but I've not heard from the HV since DD was a couple of weeks old. The HV made an appointment then to come back in a month but didn't come and no one called back when I phoned them to ask about it. DD1 had had her check by this point so I was wondering when it will be.

excited you will see from my posts yesterday that I am back at work on Tuesday on a 13hr shift and have no idea how I will function on so little sleep. I also have a 4yr old starting school tomorrow and a DH who has not looked after both DDs together much so is being thrown in at the deep end.

eastmids good to hear the return to work went well

Unless things improve for all of us, we could name our next thread Welcome to the Zombie Club!

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 09:13

I stand by my ' babies are weird' theory anna Grin

Dd was standing in her cot when I got her at 5, I took her into my bed and she beat me up for an hour before falling asleep till just gone 8.

Any babies refusing breakfast? Dd just doesn't want to know!

Greenstone · 10/09/2015 09:51

Signing in to zombie club. Was up with dd for 2 hours in the night. Her ear is definitely still bothering her despite nurofen. It's so bloody hard when you just can't DO anything for them. She's gone back to nursery anyway today but I'm expecting to get a call later to say she didn't settle for a nap. It's only her 6th day in there so she's still not used to it at all.

Hi excited, good to see you again :) I've been back at work PT for over 4 months now and yes, it is truly very hard to do on so little sleep hence me needing to slip on here for a quick moan about being tired

I'd forgotten also how freaking impossible it is to do anything at all with a crawling/cruising baby (and I assume walking is just as hard) they are so damn fast and always navigate straight to the most dangerous thing in the room. Had some success yesterday with giving DD an edited version of my make-up bag to play with while I did stuff, she just loved it. Wallet is a good one too, especially if there are lots of cards to mix up.

DD's word of the month appears to be 'Good'. Anyone else? GOOD GOOD GOOD

It is not good when being shouted in the middle of the night.

happy your DH will just have to deal with it won't he. It may actually work out well if DD decides he's not worth waking up for!
ark I have mostly stopped with giving morning milk because she's invariably had boob some hours earlier, so just go straight to breakfast. Do you still give her milk in the morning?

ladydolly · 10/09/2015 10:02

I think I lead in the zombie club today! The longest stretch I got was between 4 and 6.15 when she briefly woke once me getting on the boob again. I fed her before bed last night and left her sleeping but 10 minutes after I left dp said she was screaming bloody murder so he gave her a bottle, she necked 5oz and passed out. She then woke at 9.30 but went back without us going in then at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 1 until 4 she wouldn't settle at all so I got her in bed with me and she was on and off the boob until 6.15 when she had another feed. The child is a monster!! I'm having to send extra solid food for her lunch too, the cm said she's eating loads at the moment.

She has a very snotty nose too so that was waking her up and being smeared all over me and the bed

I'm working full time, it's actually easier being in the office and tired than at home and tired to be honest. Although by 3pm I'm really good for nothing. We have new management here who I need to impress but I'm only just getting by, I'm not too worried though, priorities and all that, I can only give what I can give and on 3 hours sleep it's not going to be mind blowing!

We complete on our new house today - 9 whole months since I first put an offer in on it! We don't actually move until next Thursday but I haven't packed one single box yet. I think the weekend will involve many coin flipping of 'sleep or pack' decisions!

Oh, forgot to add, I think dd is saying 'babe' alot. I only noticed it this morning but it's what dp and I call each other yes we're massive chavs and I think she's picked it up!! Other than that it's only mama, dada and hiya. She said garden the other day but it was so spookily accurate I think it was a flukey combination of random 'ga' and den' type sounds!!

catg83 · 10/09/2015 10:33

We had a questionnaire for the 9 month check through the post yesterday and an appointment with the health visitor at the end of this month. The questionnaire made us laugh. Yes yes yes for all the social and fine motor stuff and no no no for all the gross motor. Obviously not an athlete this one!

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 10:59

Shock at all your talking babies! We just yet yayayayaayayayayayayayayayayaayyaayyayayayayayayayaayyayaya for hours

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 11:01

Bunch of flowers and some chocolates just arrived at the door from the owners of the car that the drunk driver crashed into, thank God we stopped and caught him! Grin

excitedforbaba · 10/09/2015 12:07

Ark could our babies be twins?? We dont do breakfast here lately either! 1 spoonful then she clamps her little mouth shut and shakes her head! Although give her a pancake and she devours that

Our newest word is all gone! If she decides she wants no more bottle she puts the lid on top puts her little arms up and announces all gone! It's so funny! But literally everything is all gone now! She also says bit but it's disturbingly sounding like bitch the way she pushes the word through her teeth! Charming!!

She slept in her cot to 2am I tried settling her putting her back down but it was like pushing a jack in the box back in as soon as I got her down she sprang back up again! Gave in put her in bed and she snuggled off to sleep to 8am so we are dresses functioning humans today... Tomorrow could be another story!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/09/2015 13:46

We don't do breakfast at home it appears we do at nursery (we eat scrambled eggs and beans at weekend at home but mean mummy doesn't do cook breakfast in the week)

Annarose2014 · 10/09/2015 14:29

I notice its all the girls saying things - that makes me feel a bit better! DS is flipping brilliant on his legs and taking things apart - but really shite delayed at everything else! No words, no clapping, no waving, no blowing kisses.....nada!

Its getting a bit embarressing when somebody waves bye-bye at him and he just stares blankly at them.

We have gotten very excited this week because he's started trying to feed me when he eats. He also takes the dummy out of his mouth and tries to put it in yours. Yay for a skill that doesn't come from brute strength! Grin

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 14:41

anna Dd isn't doing any of those things either! Who's baby wasn't crawling yet?

haventgotaclue1 · 10/09/2015 19:12

Mine Ark! Still just about getting to grips with rocking on all fours. And we're not getting any clapping or blowing kisses or words. We are getting lots of laughs and waving though Grin

Arkkorox · 10/09/2015 20:53

Aww I want waves! Swap waves for crawling? I'm knackered!
