My DC2 was born on 5th August and I'm up in the wee hours feeding away. Anyone else with their August babies care to join me?

I still can't believe he's here and in my arms!

I'll second the pain and bleeding after CS, not sure if it is me overdoing it or something else. I am shattered today after two nights of very little sleep, knowing this is our last dc I am trying to enjoy each stage but being so tired makes it hard. It is good to keep up with you all and know that this is all normal. I think ds has a bit if reflux as is miserable after feeding, hiccups, noisy breathing and violent sick so am trying to help without visiting the dr if I can as I don't want to seem like a crazy parent if I am wrong.
Hope you all enjoy a lovely Sunday, I'm looking forward to the weather turning a bit so I can wrap up (cover up) in big jumpers!

Joskar · 13/09/2015 11:34

You can get hire kits from the Nappy Lady (online) or a local nappy group. Might be worth having a chat with them and seeing if they can recommend some that would suit you. We don't have mains electricity so our headache is washing but we manage fine with one we'll see how we get on with two!

Frolicacid · 13/09/2015 11:42

Thanks mzzf. I will definitely get checked out if it's not better. TMI alert - I realised this morning that I'd not had a poo for a few days. I've just been and the pain had eased off, so hopefully that was what was causing it. The only problem now is that I've re-awoken my pregnancy hemerroid, and it's very angry! Ouch!

I feel exactly the same about the reusables siani. Ds is quite possety and get's through so many clothes in a day that I'm just not ready yet to add more laundry into the mix.

I'm also wandering if ds has reflux iam, as we have the same symptoms more or less. I'm more inclined to think it's colic/wind at the moment as it is happening at the same time every night and he is totally fine all day. He also eventually does a few massive farts and is then better. I do worry what if it's reflux and I'm not helping him.

I hope everyone managed a good night. We had a horrible few hours from 10-2 with a windy and unsettled ds, but then managed some good blocks of sleep. Thank goodness we don't have to do anything in the mornings at the moment as the best sleep we all get is about 9am. Dh is back at work at the end of next week and will definitely have to sleep in the spare room I think.

Have a good Sunday everyone Smile

mzzzf · 13/09/2015 14:22

OMG! The reflux milk from aptamil is a fucking godsend!! I'm typing this as DD is snoozing in her moses as she has been for the past hour and a bit. DH and I got to unpack some boxes from our house move and I had found some other clothes to wear - hurrah!!
I do feel bad that I maybe should have swapped to this milk sooner as DD has had minimal reflux symptoms since we changed. No more giant sick-ups, uber pain after feeding and hours pacing the house as she needing to be settled. Long may it continue Smile
Wish me luck though as we're going to try to the moses tonight too!!!

I love the idea of reusable nappies!! But how do you guys get on with them when you're out and about?

Clstow · 13/09/2015 14:25

Sounds like we are having similar problems Dozy, either I just don't produce enough to satisfy him or he's got a problem. Im actually going to get him checked for tongue tie this week, just in case.

I still feel like he's feeding all the time... Experienced mums - does it settle down at some point? I'm trying to think of friends with older babies and I'm sure they don't feed them every couple of hours...

You rock too MzzF Smile

Glad the pain has eased off a bit Frolic.

Something extremely exciting happened to me this weekend... I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans! Hurrah! Hope you guys are all having a lovely Sunday. We're having a roast - must mean Autum is on the way Wink

Joskar · 13/09/2015 16:51

The space between feeds will get longer as baby gets older. You get growth spurts - 4 months is a biggie - where they go back to feeding all the time.

I just have a wet bag for dirty nappies. Any poo is caught in the liner and chucked the same as a disposable. It's not a big hassle. If you've got a lot of washing maybe more muslins would help. My friend had a very pukey bairn and she had 20+ muslins. She just used to swathe everything in them!

So glad the apatmil is helping, mzzzf. Great news!

FattyNinjaOwl · 13/09/2015 17:07

mzzzf glad the reflux milk is helping.
I can't do reusable, not for two! Imagine all the washing I would have!
I already have loads with having three terrors DCs

Dozygirl · 13/09/2015 17:46

Yey for sleeping in moses basket at last mzzf. Glad the milk is working.

Jealous of ppl fitting into pre pregnancy clothes. Although my belly has gone down loads I piled weight on in other areas that I'll need to work on if I want rid of it. Still not 100% healed down below though so I'm not panicking just yet. Will give myself a little longer before getting back on it.

I got given a lot of different types of dispoable nappies so just been using whatever. They have all been absolutely fine. No leaks unless I've forgotten to change her for ages. Overnight I try not to change her unless she's pood and although they are very full they've not leaked.

Got little lamb reusable because they had a good offer on. Im waiting for a wet bag to arrive for using when out and about and then I'm gonna start trying them. Or maybe I should test them out overnight for now to see how we get on. I'm sure once I get used to them it'll be fine but right now I'm regretting telling everyone I was going to use them and regret actually buyin them lol.

I got some spare used ones off a friend who had twins fatty, so I'm thinking if she managed reusables with 2 then I should manage with 1. I just need to get to grips with how to wash them as well.

At the moment I barely have time to anything because of the constant feeding so extra washing isn't going to be ideal until the feeding gets better. She feeds constantly all day and all night. Even when I succumbed to a bottle of formula at 4 am she still only slept 2 hours so maybe she's just a hungry monkey.

Joskar · 13/09/2015 18:20

Little Lambs is what we use. We've saved a fortune. The best wet bags are from camping shops. Mountain Warehouse or wherever. Once you get into it it isn't a big deal. I can only do washing at certain times of the day and only a limited number of loads because of not having proper electricity and it's been fine for the last two years. I hang them up on those plastic smalls driers and they usually dry pretty quickly. Apparently if you put a fan on them they dry really quickly but again no electricity so haven't tested that myself.

Also back in pre pregnancy jeans. Sadly that is still a very hefty size because I was overweight to begin with. Wedding to go to in May. I WILL lose two stone by then! Might need to curb the Jaffa cake intake!

pennypitstoppe · 13/09/2015 20:04

Hi all,

I've found Pampers New Baby best for all my babies as,newborns, they have the top sheet on them that seems to stay dry and stop nappy rash, any other brand doesn't compare in my experience. I've found that going up a size helps, so there's no leakage.

I do like sainsbury little ones for when they are slightly older though, very good value and the only brand comparable to pampers ime. I'm sure all babies are different though!

mzzzf · 13/09/2015 20:38

joskar I hear you on the Jaffa cake intake. Why is mostly all the food you can eat one-handed bad?! Grin

Dozy I still have a swollen abdomen from the emcs so I'm still wearing my maternity stuff. Saying that though my 'maternity' was just normal clothes but a size bigger. However, I wasn't a skinny minny in the first place so it's not pregnancy weight I need to lose its cake-addiction weight!!! Oh but cake is oh so lovely SmileCake
I'm back doing the cross country dog walks but getting up and down to the floor is still challenging due to my still loose pelvis. It can take up to 5mths for ligaments to get with the programme so please, you ladies who had SPD or pelvis girdle pain, take it steady (takes off work hat!).

Fingers crossed for tonight folks!!

FattyNinjaOwl · 13/09/2015 20:43

mzzzf after DD I wasn't discharged from physio until she was 10 months so twice as long as the 5 months people say, then I got pregnant with superchunk so I've been suffering for 2 years Sad
I can move a bit more now though, but put on a lot of weight over the last two years. I have around 5/6 stone to lose before I will be happy.

mzzzf · 13/09/2015 21:09

fatty I am a physio so totally get where you're coming from. Some ladies have a right old time of it with pain. It takes time but you can get to normal. Yes weight loss will help but really having the musculature to do what you body needs to is more important IMO regardless of weight. And I say that as someone who competes at a decent sporting level and is relatively fit normally but I still carry too much timber and ideally I'd be 5 stone lighter too but I lurrrve the cake!! Smile
For SPD right now though I'd be prescribing pelvis floor exs until the cows come home and working your deep abs and a back muscles gently but constantly to get that underlying tone that you need.
Awww God I miss work!!! Grin

I'm also overweight because I can't leave the galaxy chocolate alone, NOM!

FattyNinjaOwl · 13/09/2015 21:51

Ooh a physio! I've been doing my pelvic floors and the exercises I remember when I find the time which admittedly isnt often!
Can you advise any exercises for my split abs?

mzzzf · 13/09/2015 22:04

Fatty you'll hate me but for your abs you need to do those pelvic floors!! They're all connected and since the pelvic floor is the sling that connects back to front it's so important to keep it strong.
On this website www.dianelee.ca/article-training-deep-core-muscles.php the lady has some ace descriptions on how to work the three areas. They're gentle, small movement exercises that can be done anywhere anytime but you need consistency.

FattyNinjaOwl · 13/09/2015 22:11

Thank you for that link! I know how important pelvic floors are and I do those, its just the rest of it! I have bookmarked that site to read later, when I'm not attempting to get 20 month old DD to go back to sleep. She usually sleeps well, but she naooed today so is attempting to get me to play with her now.

kbro79 · 13/09/2015 22:27

Ah mzzzf excellent news about the milk. Got my fingers crossed you get some decent sleep tonight. It's amazing the difference even a few hours makes. I used to be terrible if I got anything less than 8 and now 3 in a row and I can take on the world (or at least get me and DS dressed).

Hope everyone else is well and good. We had my in laws here all weekend. Bath and glass of wine has been the order of the day since they left. Could do with about 3 bottles but will resist.

Frolic hope you are feeling better soon. Def visit the Dr but just to say my bleeding in the first few weeks was on and off with the heaviness so hopefully nothing but get checked out!

Am very much still rocking the mat jeans. They are just so comfy I fear I will never wear normal jeans again......

Dozy and clstow really hope breast feeding gets easier for you both. I think we have turned a corner with it. DS is almost 5 weeks now so we are reaching the magic 6 week point soon and I can feel things getting better. (Also it has been great this weekend as a way to escape my father in law - DS probably now ways the same as a 3 year old he has been fed so much this weekend!)

Night all. Wishing us all a nice easier night

Frolicacid · 14/09/2015 00:39

Thanks everyone for the advice. I've had no pain and barely any bleeding today. It must have been the constipation. I've cracked open the prunes again, so hopefully things won't get that bad again.

Brilliant that the reflux milk is helping mzzf. I hope the Moses basket goes well. Ds started off brilliantly with going down on his own. He's getting worse at it every day and is spending more and more time asleep on me now.

I'm very envious of all of you who are back in pre-pregnancy jeans. I think I'll still be in my maternity ones at Christmas. Despite loosing over a stone with hg at the beginning of the pregnancy, I'd piled the weight on by the end due to Only being able to stomach really crap food. Now I'm a proper sugar addict and am eating biscuits and cake like they are going out of fashion! I've decided that when dh goes back to work next week and ds is 3 weeks old it's time to start being strict with myself. It's going to be hard as the breastfeeding is making me hungry like never before.

jockstar, I cover ds in Muslins all the time, but he is a master at little pukes that run down his chin and soak through everything around his neck! He's also fantastic at weeing and pooing everywhere during a change! Today he pooed on my finger when I was applying nappy cream and wee'd all over his baby grow and a spare clean one all at the same time. Hopefully my nappy changing skills will improve with time Smile
Thanks for all the reusable nappy advice- you're helping me feel more confident about starting to use mine.

I hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday and that we all get some decent sleep tonight.

mzzzf · 14/09/2015 07:42

Woooooohoooooooooooooo! Let's have Wine for breakfast to celebrate!!

She slept in her Moses all night, only woke twice and I got to lay flat Grin LAYING IN BED IS AWESOME!
Ok I still had 'is she breathing' paranoia and kept checking but it's a massive step in the right direction, long may it continue.

As predicted her poo has firmed up somewhat but we're still having one a day so far, so I'm not going to worry about that...yet!

Anyone who's suffering with super reflux then I can recommend this stuff. Not least because the washing pile has dramatically decreased as she's not going through multiple outfits and muzzies each day! YES!

Ladies don't even think going hardcore diet/exs until you're consistently getting at least 6hrs sleep in each 24hr period - we have time to eat cake yet!! Grin

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 14/09/2015 08:26

Whoo Mzzzf! Amazing news. I bet you feel like a new woman! Long may it continue.

We're staying at my in laws house this week and their internet is patchy so nor been able to get on or even read the new posts Sad.

Amazingly DS seems to sleep better in the travel cot than the crib. We had 1am and 5.30am wakes only last night and he went back into the cot after the second one too which is unheard of at home.

I am planning on starting the healthy eating and exercise from next week when we get home. DS will be six weeks on Weds and seems much more settled now and less unhappy with life in general! I agree with Kbro that there is light at the end of the tunnel for us all.

Frolic, glad you are feeling better.

Love and zzzzs all round to you amazing mums!

OP posts:
iamhopeful · 14/09/2015 10:52

Mzzzf your post made me smile, I often tell she that I just want to lie down so I am in complete agreement that when it happens it is amazing! More nights like that

kbro79 · 14/09/2015 13:49

Mzzzzf I am sending you a massive high five. That's great stuff. And relieved to know am not the only one who has the 'is he/she still breathing' panics. It's getting better though.

Frolic we had similar pregnancies by the sound of it. I ate absolute rubbish too as was all I could keep down and now am a carb and sugar addict!! I really need to go to the dentist but dread to think what they will say. (Could not face going in pregnancy as would have puked as soon as dentist went near my mouth)

We are going to try and get out a little more this week. At least that's the plan. We'll see. But can't spend who of mat leave sat on the sofa with baby on my lap.

loveandsmiles · 14/09/2015 16:34

mzzzf and nolonger wow and well done to getting your babies to sleep on their own - my DD is still attached to me ALL NIGHT! I need to move into the swimming pool - older DCs were in a swimming gala yesterday so at pool all day and DD slept in pram for 4 hours - must be the heatGrin

penny I use Pampers New Born too and then have always continued to use Pampers for all my children - I find them really good, but as you say, all babies (and their mums!) are so different.

I didn't put on much weight whilst pregnant (never seem to!), never need maternity clothes and came out of hospital in pre-pregnancy jeans BUT my body just looks flabby - really need to tone up - ok with clothes on but horrific with them offGrin

FattyNinjaOwl · 14/09/2015 16:47

I too am now a sugar addict thanks to my pregnancy!
With my older two I waltzed out of hospital in my size ten skinny jeans, this time I'm a size 16! Shock

I am now off to bed as I've had a horrendous day. I had vomit all over me this morning, followed by poonami all over both of us, then DD fell out of my bed (where she had decided to sleep) and then when I picked DS1 up from school I discovered he's unwell! Poor little more begged me not to let him die on the way home in tears. Sad so daddy is looking after the babies and me and the big one are going to snuggle up in my bed for a bit.

Frolicacid · 14/09/2015 18:13

Yippee!!! Well done mini mzzf! I'm so pleased that you managed some decent lying down sleep.

kbro, I have a massive teeth phobia and have actually puked on my dentist in the past Blush! I think he was more scared of me than I was of him when I told him I was pregnant and suffering from hyperemesis. I was prescribed extra fluoride toothpaste to protect my teeth from all the vomit. I'm hoping that it's done something because I dread to think of the damage all the cake, lemonade and biscuits have done.
I was full of good intentions to start weaning myself off the sugar today, but we had a shitty night so I've succumbed to the digestives to keep me going.

Sounds like a pretty shitty day fatty. FlowersCakeBrew I hope your little one feels better soon.

Ds was colicky most of last night, so I'm shattered today. He's now in a lovely mood and has slept most of the day. I've tried to nap, but just feel hungover and bleary. I just wish I could do more to sort out the wind that is bothering him at night. Poor little chap is so uncomfortable when it comes.

I've had my first go with the tommee tippee electric pump and managed 2oz in about 15 mins. No idea how that compares to other pumps, but I'm pretty pleased with that and it was easy and comfortable to use.

I hope everyone is having a good day.
