First birthdays are starting to arrive and our babies are becoming toddlers! What will the next year have in store?

Cute pic polka. Love Christmas outfits! Not sure I'm brave enough to post one. I quite like the anonymity and I do spend a lot of time on mumsnet and post fairly regularly.

When we've taken DS away his sleep has remained pretty much the same. I work hard to keep the routine the same as much as possible. He doesn't seem to self settle when we are away for the first couple of nights, but after that it seems to be ok. We're away in Feb half term...hope I haven't jinxed us!

TeamEponine · 28/01/2016 04:51

Can't sleep Sad DD is now starting to sleep through about half the time, but she has this awful habit of having a scream/cry/whinge at about 4am. It only lasts a few seconds and she goes off to sleep on her own, but it wakes me. So two or three days a week I'm awake from about 4am. Argh!

DDs language has really exploded recently. Yesterday I was cooking and talking to her about what I was doing. She so clearly said "garlic" and seemed to like saying it, so it got repeated many, many times! Confused

I'm also really torn on whether to share a picture of DD on here. Part of me really wants to, but part of me likes the anonymity, but part of me thinks if someone knows me it would be easy to work out it is me from the information I share on our threads. Ummmm...

lilone1234 · 28/01/2016 09:47

Team - my DD does this too so as soon as she cries I'm shocked awake and it makes me feel a bit anxious, though don't know why, so hard getting back to sleep too. Polka, what a cutie!

FATEdestiny · 28/01/2016 12:52

Oh no Team. Anything starting with a 4 on the clock is a horrid time to be awake in the night Sad

If she usually doesn't need you in the night could you try earplug and/or eyemask? The foam earplugs don't actually stop all sound, you will still hear the cry, but it does dull it down a bit so it's not so screechy so you just wake, rather than wake up shocked.

Most of my recent pictures have been of 'poorly girl' - she looks super cute when poorly and just wanting to snuggle. I will post a picture next time I post from my phone if I remember. I have no issue with people who actually know me also knowing my MN ID. It's not like I say anything I wouldn't do face-to-face. Having said that, I cant imagine anyone I know going to the extents needed to figure out what my username is on here. If one of my Mum-friends asked me what my mumnset username was, I'd tell them without a thought. Would others not then?

Anyway, back to the God-awful nose wiping battles...

Zanashar · 28/01/2016 13:29

What a cutie polka!
I hadn't thought twice about posting pics from an anonymity point of view..... Confused
But then again I wouldn't say anything that would warrant me worrying about that ( I think?)
The middle of the night waking is not fun at all for all parties involved (DD usually ends up in bed with us, DH sleeps through it all and guess who ends up sleep deprived?....). I try and leave her to settle herself but anything keep than say 5-10mins and I give in.

The nose wiping wars.......anyone else had to park up on the way to somewhere just to wipe the horrendous discharge from an almighty sneeze........just so that it doesn't get gobbled??DD sort of lets me wipe her nose but prefers to have a go herself which isn't great because she's more a delicate dabber rather than a proper wiper.

FATEdestiny · 28/01/2016 15:35

Just found this youtube clip, made me laugh a lot:

(no swearing, fine to watch in front of children etc)

TeamEponine · 28/01/2016 17:27

Here's DD...

The toothless wonder!!!

Zanashar · 28/01/2016 19:43

Oh Team she's adorable! I actually sort of miss the toothless days now as I feel it makes DD much less of a baby, and reminds me of how fast time is passing! Z has 12 now ( first one didn't show until she was over ten months ). The last 5-6 all came through pretty much back to back and meant a very sore bottom for ages at pretty much the same time as her starting nursery and me being back at work. Poor thing.

TeamEponine · 28/01/2016 21:23

She has five teeth now. Bottom front two, top molars on both sides and lower left molar is just peaking through as of a couple of days ago. I do wonder how long it will be before the top front ones come through! Strange child!

FATEdestiny · 28/01/2016 21:40

Very sweet Team. Pretty dress.

My favorite Christmas pic of dd

polkadotdelight · 28/01/2016 22:30

Awww what lovely pictures Team and FATE.

Still only 8 teeth here, 4 upper and lower but Im pretty sure canine teeth are about to break through and he is pretty bumpy around molars too. Its so hard to see!

FATEdestiny · 28/01/2016 23:00

I don't actually know how many teeth DD has, she wont let anyone look or feel!

She definitely has 4 top and 4 bottom. We know she has cut (or is cutting) at least one molar, maybe more. DH thinks he saw incisors the other day, I cant be sure though.

I know she's producing massive quantities of snot at the moment. And that she definitely, definitely hates having her nose wiped Hmm

CumbrianExile · 29/01/2016 13:41

Aw, what cuties Smile

Here is a photo of DS at Christmas, I love his little Christmas PJ's haha.

We have a snotty one here too Fate who also hates having his nose wiped. I think it is worse than the new born nappies when he rubs it all over his face before you can get to it Envy

Not sure on teeth numbers here either, won't let me near his mouth. But he has been struggling with them the last week or so, really chomping on things, so I guess we have more coming through.

Topsyloulou · 29/01/2016 19:20

We had a snotty boy a couple of weeks ago. He's not a fan of the nose blowing but by the end of his cold he was pretty resigned to it & would have a go himself if given a tissue. He's also started to wipe if you give him a wipe while nappy changing!

polkadotdelight · 29/01/2016 21:15

I love all the pictures. What cute babies we all have!

FATEdestiny · 30/01/2016 12:01

Lovely pictures!

DD has, quite inexplicably, started tolerating nose wiping today. I'm not doing it any differently but today when I say "lets wipe your nose" she looks up at me and waits. Previously she would hide her face and drop to the floor (all melodramatic!). Hay ho, the joys of parenting. She'll no doubt go back to refusing The Nose Wipe again soon.

FATEdestiny · 30/01/2016 12:08

Heehee - I'm getting all cocky and over-confident with nose wiping now. Just this moment DD came over needing a nose wipe. "Can I blow your nose?" I said. Got a tissue and "blow", I said.

She blew like you would blow hot food, bless her. Bet she was wondering what on earth I was asking her to do that for!

Need to work on teaching her how to blow when having her nose wiped. I am sure my others were much, much older when they got it

jaykay34 · 30/01/2016 14:07

Awww love all the pictures. I love all the little Christmas outfits.
Here's one of J at Christmas.

We have also had lots of snotty noses and coughs and colds. J seems to pick up everything going at Nursery, although he somehow avoided the nasties like Foot and Mouth and Chicken Pox - which have been rife in our local area.
He's another one who hates having his nose wiped - although if I've discovered that if I cheer and clap, he will let me wipe it for a couple of seconds Grin.

TeamEponine · 30/01/2016 16:45

If we are sharing Christmas piccies, here's another of DD!

Loving seeing everyone's pics. We really have a v cute bunch Grin

DD tries to blow hot things too, it's so cute! She is ok with nose blowing, but tends to blow raspberries when I do it. She is quite into smelling things, but she snorts air out rather than in. Not so good when she wants to smell the herbs and spices!!! Shock

lilone1234 · 30/01/2016 22:25

Fate, that blowing thing is so cute. DD hates nose wiping (and face and hands) here too, very dramatic about it!

Such beautiful babies (toddlers now!) can't believe how big they are now!

Here's a Christmas cheese and crackers pic of my DD!

cookielove · 31/01/2016 15:02

my phone won't let me load a photo :(

KitKat1985 · 31/01/2016 15:13

Loving all these pictures. Thought I'd upload a couple of DD on Christmas day too.

I also have a nose-wiping hater. She's very snotty at the moment. She seems to have loads of molars coming through right now which is related to all the snot I think (I've been told this can happen)? We've also had some awful nappies recently!

The anonymous thing is odd, I know a lot of users are really private about their real lives. It's not that I wouldn't say face to face what I type here, I guess it's more the volume of sharing I do. I contribute on a lot of threads, some about sex, relationships etc which are very personal and I suppose I just worry about someone seeing ALL of it. Which is probably quite irrational as I don't even tell many people that I use mumsnet anyway.

But I have loved seeing all of your pictures....so maybe I need to be brave...

LillyBugg · 01/02/2016 20:33

So here is my enormous, non walking, love of my life Grin
