The old thread was getting dangerously close to 1000 messages, so thought I'd better start this one.

Poor you hales. That sounds tough - and I'm sure so much tougher in rl! Could you try a story cd? I know H is bright so maybe her brain just goes into hyper drive. Maybe put on a cd and listen to it together to start with - I get results if I say I will sit with you if you stay quietly in bed but will leave if you get up or talk. Then after a few days you sit by the door. Then say you will stay for half, then until X happens - I would always use the same story so it isn't always exciting.
Ignore me if this won't work for you!

Told my boss today that I don't want/can't do the job - she still wants to keep me and is going to try to find other work for me. Nice of her, but still not sure it's the right place for me. Will see what comes.

ThreeFrazzledFandangos · 04/03/2016 00:13

Oh it's so hard Hales. That's what J does. But he usually gives up between 8 and 9 and falls asleep if I turn my back to him.

If I leave him to it he screams and cries Til he's sick.

Glad your mum came to help. Hope tonight is better.

That's nice of your boss WL. At least you know you may have options if you decide to stay.

MrsNutella · 04/03/2016 09:58

Ladies, I have a question I need some help with. We appear to have a tummy bug going round at home. Basically each of us has had a bit of diarrhoea. Lasting less than 24 hours.

Tonight a group of English speaking ladies I know are having dinner out. We are all mummies with young children so it's bloody hard to organise and happens around every .... Hmmm maybe 6 months? Do I go and risk it (I have had a bit of diarrhoea this morning, no funny tummy, no other symptoms), or should I stay at home?Confused

WLmum · 04/03/2016 10:37

If you feel ok nutella I would definitely go but would just be uber careful about hand washing and not eating from sharing plates etc. Have fun!

MrsNutella · 04/03/2016 11:34

WL that's what I was thinking. Make sure I don't share with anyone or from anyone and just see how I go.
I'm sorry work is still tough for you. Do you want to come and be a part of my nappy empire (anyone who can work a computer is welcome Grin).
I have not had a proper job in such a long time! It feels very odd when I think about it.

WreckTangled · 04/03/2016 14:39

I think with good hygiene you'll be ok. Some of the Drs come into work when they're unwell and just ensure good hand washing etc.

GeoffreysGoat · 04/03/2016 15:42

I will nut will cheer me up - R came up in ominous spots this morning :(

GeoffreysGoat · 04/03/2016 15:42

And yes, just take hand gel and don't breathe on anyone!

WreckTangled · 04/03/2016 15:54

'Mummy why is my willy so big? Pull my trousers down so you can look' Hmm

WLmum · 04/03/2016 19:59

Yes please nutella! I would love to! I looked into being a nappy lady here but it would most definitely have been a labour of love. I've got an interview for another job on wed!
goat apparently there's also lots of scarlet fever going around
tangled if only you'd captured that on film - imagine playing that at his wedding!

GeoffreysGoat · 04/03/2016 20:48

He's not red at all, just bumpy spots in clusters. And half his school have been off with it recently too as well as various little buddies. Hope ds2 avoids, he's not big enough for piriton yet!

Wreck still haven't puzzled you out 😂😂😂

WLmum · 04/03/2016 22:13

goat dds rashes weren't red when they had it. If it does turn out to be scarlet fever he/they will def need antibiotics. Check for swollen red tongue, sore throat and temp.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2016 07:26

I live closest to you out of everyone...Wink

GeoffreysGoat · 05/03/2016 14:07

He has absolutely no symptoms. It's not itchy, there's no fluid or blisters. Will fb some pics. It's closest to measles, but for the lack of a single other symptom at all. He hasn't as much as sneezed!

halestone · 06/03/2016 14:30

Wrecked thats brilliantGrin

Nutella please tell me you went and that you had a nice time.

Goat, how is his rash today, my DN had measles and never had any other symptoms apart from the rash. My sister took her to the walk in centre where it was swabbed and they rang her the next morning to confirm. H was only a couple of weeks old at the time. My GP said he had never actually seen a case of measles up until that point. I hope R is ok.

Happy Mothers day to you all, DP let me have a sleep in then he gave H the money to take me to the shop and buy flowers. She chose each flower herself and the lady in the shop said ooo that flowers £2.20 is that ok? H replied yes i have paper money not pennies haha.

GeoffreysGoat · 07/03/2016 09:22

Oh bless H hales such a cutie

Rash is still exactly the same. No itching, no symptoms, not bothering him. Dr in half an hour, hopefully I can pop him straight in school after!

halestone · 07/03/2016 09:43

FX Goat, let us know how R gets on.

GeoffreysGoat · 07/03/2016 13:42

She took one look, DX molluscum which isn't contagious and sent us off. So yay it's not pox but boo we haven't got pox over with!

MrsNutella · 07/03/2016 15:41

Tomorrow we have our last appointment with the therapist for DS. I'm going to ask her about ADHD. I suspect they don't like to diagnose at his age, but it would answer a lot of questions.

He is driving me bonkers today. I just want a day off to recover some energy, get some rest and probably cry a lot.

MrsNutella · 07/03/2016 15:47

And we can always get more appointments if necessary thank goodness even if she says to wait a year or two it's a comfort to know that we can go back. And where to go and who to talk to.

GeoffreysGoat · 07/03/2016 19:50

ADHD is rarely DX under 7y AFAIK, but if that's where you're instincts are leading maybe trying out some of the behaviour management strategies would help x

MrsNutella · 07/03/2016 21:17

Goat looking up the behaviour thingies for adhd.... The therapist did guide me through most of the regularly suggested techniques and I saw really positive results with DS when we use them properly. I wonder if that is a coincidence.
But I don't think it is an issue yet just bloody hard work some days I'm worried about school. But thankfully that is a way off yet.

WLmum · 07/03/2016 21:53

nutella I didn't realise you thought that about ds. It is rare to diagnose under 6 in our area but my friend had her ds diagnosed unofficially (by NHS) at 4. He can be such a sweet boy and I never see much of his challenging behaviour but I know it's been really tough on them. She's so calm with him. She's amazing. I think she said the book 1,2,3 magic was helpful.

WLmum · 07/03/2016 22:47

nutella my friend has found school to be very supportive and the structure is helpful to her ds. I know it's easy for me to say but try not to worry atm - he may just be a bright exhausting energetic boy! I hope you both get what you need in the short term.
I have officially got the nicest boss in the history of bosses! She has said I can apply for a perm role (same team, diff focus, still pt), work on a rolling contract while I look for another job or give my notice and she will try to make my last month a happy one. She's lovely and fantastic at her job. I sincerely hope she goes very very far.

MrsNutella · 08/03/2016 08:02

WL your boss sounds amazing! She must really really like you. I'm sorry you aren't happy in your job. It's a very brave thing to admit to, and doing something about it isn't easy.
DS is very active and always has been. I think it's worth considering, I don't know if it will fit him as DX, that's why I'm going to ask today.

Hales I did go out on Friday and had a great time. But I stayed out too late. Confused I was soooo tired all weekend. And now I have a fresh cold to deal with.
