New thread! Roll call...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WilHarlot · 23/08/2015 19:32

Yes - just a teeny bit of toothpaste.

RPopz · 23/08/2015 19:42

I was wondering that yesterday zy! mini P has 2 teeth and I can see some more coming down.... Are baby toothbrushes a thing!? I haven't been bitten yet... fx.

We're boobing again already but I think this is bedtime! So he's going to bed in his sweaty clothes... poor mite Wink Wink

WilHarlot · 23/08/2015 19:52

Didn't your HV give you one Popz. You get teeny ones for 0-2. Get brushing if he has teeth.

Minion · 23/08/2015 20:00

Ffs! Second night now she's woken even before our bedtime.
What the hell is going on? She's never done this before. Normally we only get stirs from her before ten.

RPopz · 23/08/2015 20:10

No! But I haven't seen one since he was 4/5/6 weeks old? Shall investigate Boots tomorrow.

WilHarlot · 23/08/2015 20:25

Your HV is shit!

Micro always does that Min. Annoying!

Fuck, swollen boob again Sad .

minimooo · 23/08/2015 20:29

Ah poo, sorry min. That's crappy. Hope she goes back down and gives you a bit of a break.

fleur enormous hugs. Bfing is so so hard. Do whatever you feel is right for you. I gave up at 2 weeks and then expressed and did mixed feeding for another 6 weeks. At the time it was absolutely the right thing to do, but I have to admit that I'm still finding it difficult to make my peace with the fact I don't breastfeed. When I was pregnant I was absolutely certain that I was going to bf, so it's taking me a while to come to terms with the fact that I whip out a bottle of formula instead of a boob. Having said that, formula has its advantages: I can give her to dh for a feed every now and then to have a break, I can see exactly how much she is drinking (and I find that reassuring), and there are different formulas for different problems like colic or reflux etc. I think it might also be quicker (is that right bfing viroids?) E will often finish a bottle in around 10mins or less.
Whatever you decide will be the right choice for you and S and we'll support you all the way. Big hugs Flowers it's such a hard decision to make xx

In laws weren't too bad in the end. Although Dh almost had an argument with them because they kept complaining that E doesn't remember them because she hasn't seen them for 2 weeks. She doesn't remember them because she's 3 months old ffs! She barely remembers from one feed to the next!

RPopz · 23/08/2015 20:37

I did have a home visit with her booked for when mini was 12 weeks old but I accidentally went out and missed it - whoops.

Lol at your ILs mini Grin Shock

Pisghetti · 23/08/2015 21:16

B has the Sleepyhead in her crib. I'm going to start bringing it down in the mornings to see if it helps her have longer daytime naps. Has tilting the snuzpod helped la?

It was a fab night but wow I felt rough today! First thing this morning I had DP waving a half drunk bottle of breast milk that had been left out overnight under my nose asking if I thought it smelt funny and trying to get me to taste it. Not sure the meal out and lashings of prosecco will have helped with my weigh in tomorrow (albeit I've only managed a panini today - swings and roundabouts!)

Oh Fleur that sounds rotten Sad hope you feel better soon x

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 23/08/2015 21:19

Fleur I'm so sorry you feel at the end of your tether with bf. It's so physically and emotionally hard. Get yourself through the horrid mastitis and give yourself time to think about it. You've done amazingly to bf for this long with all the difficulties you've had and your little one has already had the best start, all that wonderful immunity you've passed on. He will be perfect whatever you choose to do. You just need to be sure it's the right thing for you and get some advice about making the transition gradually if you do decide to stop, as it's a big change for both of you (I had to give up bf suddenly with both my boys and the hormonal crash was hard). Big hugs.

cookielove · 23/08/2015 21:55

I have missed loads just caught up now!

20-23 long sleeve vest, 1.5 tog bag
23-24 long sleeve vest, 1 tog bag

Re brushing teeth:

We use a smear of tooth paste and attempt to brush them every night we forget to try every morning (bad parents)

fleur only you can decide when to stop breastfeeding, but we are all here supporting you whatever way you go :)

E slept in his sleepyhead over night till he refused to sleep on his back at around 4 months he then slept on his tummy and gave us the best night ever :)

min can your lo self settle, maybe worth teaching her if not as that is what we with E and he has slept through ever since!

Minion · 23/08/2015 22:15

cookie, yeah she's really good at it. when we put her down she's awake but drowsy for both naps and bedtime, she pays with her sleepytot a short while and drifts off.
But it's this shitstorm that she can't seem to get through.
She managed to put herself back earlier after spending ages doing that mmmmm. Mmmmm mmmmm sound they do when tired, so we know she can.
She just won't.
It's crapola!

minimooo · 23/08/2015 22:17

Ooh cookie, how did you do it? And at what age? I'm looking into sleep training and not sure which way to go with it.

la sorry I didn't get time to put up photos today - I'll try to do it tomorrow.

Ah pis that's not what you want to wake up to after a night out!

RPopz · 23/08/2015 22:44

Ha min - miniP does that noise. Drives me crazy.

How did B and MrPis get on without you for the whole evening? I'm a bit worried about being out next Saturday!

Going to sterilise the pump tonight but its been so long since I expressed I wonder if I'll even get anything! What formula does everyone use? Was looking at Hipp Organic follow on milk earlier.... I don't really get it though, surely all milk is organic....? Confused Enlighten me anyone??

ZylaB · 23/08/2015 23:12

popz apparently the follow on milk is just the same with a bit of thickener in it so they can get around the marketing issues. On the odd occasion we use formula I just give her aptamil first milk, as I'm guessing my breast milk isn't as thick as the follow on stuff. Premade is ace as you don't have to worry about boiling water etc, h just has it at room temp. I think you need scissors for the Hipp cartons too and aptamil is in screw top bottles (was a reason for us lol)

Minion · 24/08/2015 06:58

We use aptamil 2 as we get boots points now it's got added iron as babies iron stores apparently start depleting at 6 months.

Why won't my child realise she actually liked sleeping on her tummy, she's just for a near 5 hrs on it with no wake up (after a 45 min piss about).
She even had a huge poo but I didn't have the heart to wake her (bad mum).
Sigh yawn

cookielove · 24/08/2015 07:06

There is hardly any diffence between stage 1 and follow on milk the main being they can advertise follow on stuff.

mini we did a course that was run by our local children's centre when E was around 8 months ish (6 and a bit corrected) we did a very tame version of cry it out, where I sat next to his bed and rubbed his back till he fell asleep. We stopped all milk at night and now he has a bottle at waking, 2pm and 6:30 importantly before his bath! I also stopped him falling asleep on a bottle for naps.

He now has two naps a day am and pm usually a couple hours each time :)

min do you give milk when she wakes?

WilHarlot · 24/08/2015 07:12

Most milk isn't organic as it comes from cows who are given growth hormones etc. The dairy industry is a dark dark place!

Agree you just need a first milk - especially as mini Popz may find it harder to digest at first if he's only had bm. Although probably not an issue actually now he's eating solid food.

C up alllllllllllllllll night. Made the mistake of putting her in with me about 1ish as she'd already woken twice and I couldn't be arsed but ahe just wouldn't settle and wriggled constantly. Today will be fun!!!

How did you teach the self settling Cookie? My child cannot do that for shit.

WilHarlot · 24/08/2015 07:14

Oh x-post. Yeah the no milk thing is not going to work. She'll go mental and wake the toddler. I'll try the other thing in the daytime when Mini is out.

Minion · 24/08/2015 07:24

cookie not usually, no. But last night as she hadn't woke for her usual night top off (we're reducing it) I thought she may be hungry (took hardly any at bedtime as she had a v massive dinner), gave her 4oz (took 3),
I was just that knackered. Probably a slippery slope but my fight has left the building.
Not sure if it changed it but she's been up for 2 hrs the past 3 weeks but it was ' only 45 b mins '

RPopz · 24/08/2015 10:02

Ah that works out ok then. We still have a couple of bottles of emergency Aptamil in the cupboard. I'll just leave that then, along with any boob juice I manage to squeeze out!

How is everyone this dreary Monday morning? We're meant to be going on a picnic but it's not looking good...

Pisghetti · 24/08/2015 10:16

Popz can you try expressing while you're feeding? If you can get him into a rugby type hold that leaves room for the pump. B was absolutely fine. Don't think she even missed me Hmm I always boob her to sleep but she was even fine without that. She also slept until 4.30, quick feed, and through to 9.30. Compared to last night where I fed her at 9 (bedtime), 10, 1, 5 and 8 (she's still asleep but I'm lying by her as I know she'll wake up if I get up)

BrewBrew For Wil and Min

WilHarlot · 24/08/2015 11:23

Good work Pis. Did you get a bag check in the club? Wondering what they made of the pump?! I'm out on Saturday and not lookog forward to explaining it Grin .

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 24/08/2015 13:02

HV and GP both said don't bother with follow on milk, it's just a marketing thing, and advised using first milk formula until it's time to switch to cow's milk.

P is driving me nuts today. Walked at a snail's pace home in the torrential rain so we all got soaked. And then spotted the pepper I was putting in his 'hidden' veg pasta and refused to eat a mouthful. Oh yes, and did his usual 'I need a poo' when I was feeding the baby, who is inevitably sick if I put him down too soon after feeding. I just want to stamp my feet and throw his pasta out of the window. Must try to be the bigger person!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 24/08/2015 13:44

Wil and others with slightly older babies that you occasionally take into bed with you in desperation for sleep...do they slap you on the head and blow raspberries for hours or have you got that joy still to come?
