Beksmum · 01/02/2007 23:11

Sorry no time to catch up really, just thought of a fund raiser for Rodeo, this was done at my nephews school. They held an art exhibition in which all the children had to draw what they wanted to be when they grow up, they then framed all the pictures and got the parents, grandparents etc to buy them! Worked a treat although they did fall down in my estimation when they gave the pictures back to the children to take home and left out the kids that hadn't had their pictures bought - not impressed! Beks

Beksmum · 01/02/2007 23:15

Ooh one other thing GG spotted you'd put your profile on so went to have a nose - where's the plug for your Usborne Books? Surely an ideal place to put it?!!! Free advertsing and all that? Beks

Rodeo · 01/02/2007 23:22

I've been keeping myself amused with these websites....
GFY (especially the Sienna bit and the Posh bit right at the bottom!) and The Superficial , their both a bit like the What Are They Wearing bit in Heat magazine

Hi girls,

lol at links rodeo! Oh you poor things with the lurgy again too, bet it's the same thing, winter gastric flu virus, read up about it on internet, horrid. Hope you and yours all kick it quickly this time round. Am airing everything like mad, thank goodness it's so gorgeous outside.
Nova, lol, sorry about that, just got really excited when realised it was 1st Feb and wanted to put a massive '1st February!' link up. Lol at the panda eyes situation, so familiar, it's v.fashionable now though - that other mum obv has No idea about these things.
ChaCha, we miss you, grumpy or not!
GG, hi!
Beks hi!
Hi BB!
Hi to anyone I missed!
Diege, missing you... are you trapped under towers of paper? Hang in there dude!
Right, off to get cracking...........

Londoner · 02/02/2007 11:02

Oh another fund raising thing worked really well in one school was an auction of promises. So you get everyone to come along to an evening, sell refreshments which brings in some cash, then down to the auction if you can get local mayor or minor celeb to do so the better for advertising... in the preceding weeks you and other parents have been at school gate collecting favours from as many parents as poss, could be auctioning babysitting services to a lift to the airport any day that year or to mow your lawn or for actual things donated by local businesses iyswim? Right, Baby woken up........

GreedyGecko · 02/02/2007 12:54

Hi, got a grumpy one here. He woke in the night, steaming hot, has been fine all morning, but - ooh, I can hear a snore - has suddenly become hot & grumpy again.

Beks, I was going to put about Usborne on my profile, but I've seen other posters whinging about others not paying for advertising etc, so decided it's not worth the hassle.

I love Take Thats new one. It's really happy & bouncy. Very good, not what I was expecting at all from them as my friend said their new album is all soppy, mushy, lovey stuff like their last single.

novadandypowder · 02/02/2007 14:22

And it's sung by gorgeous little Mark GG [need a tongue hanging out emoticon]

GreedyGecko · 02/02/2007 14:27

and he sounds great too and the video's very good.

feetheart · 02/02/2007 21:18

Stop it you lot, all this Take That talk is making me feel VERY old

Beksmum · 02/02/2007 23:13

Sorry GG fair point, but yah boo sucks to them I reckon - how's the book selling going by the way? Hope you're doing well Hope your little man feels better soon, Tom is suffering from the dreaded cough & cold at the moment, but at least we've all had it now.

Hope everyone has a great weekend Beks

ChaCha · 03/02/2007 10:41

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.
Beks - Hoping that your grandpa is doing okay and that you're not all too poorly with coughs and colds. I took DS to his GP on Thursday just to check that he was okay as we seem to have had cold after cold and she said he was okay and to just continue giving calpol at bedtime. I've found the cough medicine and kids olbas oil seem to be helping too, what about you? Any remedies? I'm just tired running after him to wipe nose though - t's constantly streaming!

Londoner - [Hi] I couldn't open your link but think it was a PG calendar (one that points to a fat chick panting and puffing at week 38) How are you all? I took a leaf out of your book yesterday and aired everything too and got lots done, needless to say, am paying for it today and am seriously struggling to do much, DH and ILs should be here later in the day - hurray!

Hi to everyone else and hopefully later during quiet time I'll get to write some more replies and ask after you all properly. DS is obsessed with wires and has his dad's old shaver stand and is currently trying to plug it into the socket (he removes all the socket covers now) so i best dash...

x

feetheart · 03/02/2007 11:24

Shhhh ChaCha, don't tell Ash about socket cover removal, I've caught him working at them already.
No idea how Z manages it as I really struggle to get them out

GreedyGecko · 03/02/2007 12:30

How does Z do it ChaCha? He needs to give me some tips, as I have to use a knife to get them out (I have no nails).

ChaCha · 03/02/2007 12:45

Hi Feetheart and GG

I struggle to take socket covers out too - I watched him do it yesterday and it doesn't take him long at all, maybe i need to buy a better make? He is very determined and knows it's wrong as i catch him giving sneaky looks round to see whose watching! Has managed to get in a very small space too and pull the plug out of socket that hosts the extension lead for all the TV/Freeview/phone charger leads and had it in his mouth What is the fascination? And as I type he has turned my rocking footstool over and is sitting inside it which i'm sure will be proceeded by tears when he realises he's stuck!! Oh boy!
He is still scared of the noise of DH's drill so we were telling him that the drill was in the cupboard so he wouldn't open the door until we got the safety lock in place. It worked! We made a 'zzzz' sound and said drill whenever he went to the door and toddled away rather quickly...silly me let him run around at the GP's last week and he went from socket to socket (must have thought it was his b'day) all along the long corridor, can you imagine the shock/horror on people's faces if they'd heard 'I'll get daddy's drill..zzzzz!'

Right, i have rambled so much you'll wish you'd never asked...

GreedyGecko · 03/02/2007 18:00

It must be his little fingers making it easier for him! lol at "I'll get daddy's drill" at the GPs. It does seem to be a knack they have of finding exactly the things you don't want them to have don't they!

novadandypowder · 03/02/2007 19:14

Noo loves the switches on plug sockets. Her first job in the morning is to turn off the plug in night lights. She found a socket with switch at Gymboree a couple of weeks ago and spent a good few minutes switching it on and off (it obv. had a cover on) much to the horror of one of the other mums, whose child apparently would never go near something as dangerous - lol.

Am feeling very ruined today. Went to DH's work do and got to bed at 12.45, then got woken up at 2 by him coming in, then woken at 4 by drunken snoring when I gave up and went to the sofa, then woken at 6.30 by noo. Sooooo tired.

twinkle1 · 04/02/2007 11:14

Londoner · 04/02/2007 22:02

Hi guys, Cha Cha lol no, the link was to a big 1st February.... I'm reckon you look a beautiful pregnant woman even if you feel pants. Lol at Zed's antics, ROFL, he will be on 'Crypton Factor' programme or somesuch soon, are there any gifted and talented baby competitions coming to your area anytime soon? How are you and babe now, any better? We are still fighting off this damn gastric virus and, like you, have been airing the house like mad, am really glad February is here at last, January was rubbish this year!
Nova, love the way you phrased it as Noo's 'job' to switch off the sockets lol, can just picture her being all officious and particular lol. Aren't they funny!
Hi GG!
Hi Feetheart - sweet new name!
Hey beks, Diege, Rodeo.
Bets latest word is 'naughty' and she can use it when she's robbing other peoples' stuff too.
Night!

ChaCha · 05/02/2007 06:20

Morning all

Hope everyone is well or on the mend at least. Love reading about all our babies individual developments, I think we should have a monthly update and some updated pics on the Y group - it's been a while for some of us.

Londoner - LOL at 'naughty'! How sweet! I imagine that with older siblings to converse with/listen to she is picking up lots of interesting vocabulary. Does she show excitement when they come home from school? When it gets dark Zed points to window and says 'daddin' - seems to associate the dark with his homecoming. DS's latest 'let's say it all the time word' is 'wash' but pronounced 'waaaaash' followed by circular hand movement - he says this when he spills a drink on floor and plays in the spillage, when he sees the washing machine, or when his bath is running, by which time he is trying to take his trousers off and get a leg in the bath...'waaaash...waaaaash...waaaaash' and for someone who used to cry whenever i put the hairdryer on he now gets ready after bath to have his hair dried and brushed - i love doing it! Gosh, motherhood is some journey!

Nova - Hope you managed some sleep over the weekend, are you generally finding comfortablity in sleep or is it more out of necessity? How did scan/tests go btw or did i get the wrong date? Hope all is well.

Twinkle - Hope you're all feeling better asap and that snow doesn't cause too much havoc.

I'll be on and off MN today for some sanity i'm sure, it's DH's looooong day and am not venturing out at all, can you believe that next week i am having a baby!!!!! Eeeeeeek.....

Sleepless ChaCha x

Londoner · 05/02/2007 09:56

Hi all,

Next WEEEEEK ChaCha! YaY, can't wait!!!!! How exciting! Love hearing about Zed's antics lol, waaaaaaaash, so cuuuuute! Yes you're right about Bet's vocab, is astonishing, she immitates whole sentences like "nigh nigh seenamornan" ( night night, see you in the morning) "innaminnit" to name a couple, and the usual "whassis?" "whassat?" " oh no!" when something is dropped or spilt or "oh dear!"...... good job she's picked up on the wholesome stuff lol, although she does say something that sounds remarkably like "sh*t" every now and again . Right, since this gastric bug gripped the family Bet's right back to square 1 with the weaning and much prefers milk as the lion's share of her diet, so after seeking advice on a feeding thread am off out for the morning to toddler group, wish me luck! Hope you have good days all, ChaCha hope your day in goes well, will check back later.x

ChaCha · 05/02/2007 10:11

Hi Londoner, thanks for the reply, hope Bets has a great time at toddler group. I really did LOL at the 'what sounded like sh*t' I heard one of those recently too..it was a sort of 'ohhhhh sheeeeeeeeet', LOL Can't imagine what it was supposed to be?!

Speaking of weaning, I started DS on full milk yesterday (finally at 14mths!) and he seems to be enjoying it but haven't persevered with the cup so am still using the bottle. I guess if i can get to the end of the week with him happy on full milk i'll try the cup again next week. How much full milk is normal for a day? Shall have to read up.

Better get dressed before Tesco arrives x

feetheart · 05/02/2007 11:49

Morning everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend?

ChaCha - wow, next week That has really come round quickly - for me anyway, bet it has felt like forever for you.

LOL at various things that babies are saying. We had Ash's first recognisable spoken word at Tumble Tots last Thursday - he touched another small boy's nose and said 'No' several times, looking very pleased with himself and looking expectantly at me for a round of applause
He then made a very good attempt at 'cake' the next day!!
His party piece at the moment is to approach/do something he shouldn't and when asked 'What does Mummy say?' to wag his finger at me. I have no idea where he gets that from

Rodeo · 05/02/2007 11:49

Morning all!
Did you have nice weekends? Londoner, E is soooo clever! And Z Chacha - seeing as he's the littlest Jess babbles to us all the time but I don't think there's anything resembling English in there! Unless I'm not listening hard enough! Yes maybe that's it, haha!
You're having the baby next week Chacha?! OMG! I cannot wait!! Is dh going to give us an announcement?! Think a pint of milk is about the right amount Chacha, but I get through so much of the stuff I predict Jess could be having much more!
Love Noo's personal job Nova Managed to catch up on 24 this weekend, thank goodness, but I am in shock Have you been watching?! Don't want to spoil it for you if your not!!
Have a lovely morning at toddler group Londoner - you can do it!
Speak later x

novadandypowder · 05/02/2007 14:09

Rodeo - DH and I have sooo much TV to catch up on, and this weekend was out of the question, so guess what we'll be doing during the next one?

Londoner - I do worry that I'm putting my 'monica-ness' on to noo already. When she gets on the sofa she plumps up the cushions, she wipes the floor with a cloth, and puts things back in their container if she drops them

Chacha - thats sooo exciting. I'm getting a bit fed up with people asking me when it's due, quite tempted to say July and chortle at the look of shock. Not much rest for me I'm afraid, mainly due to the fact I can't stay alseep, I'm in bed for a good number of hours but after the first 3 I must see about every hour on the clock (yawn)

Took noo for her first trip to the zoo yesterday which was lovely. Her favourite book is Dear Zoo so it was great to show her some of the animals for real.

Also getting frustrated at no real words yet. She can understand a lot, and I repeat words until the cows come home but everything is 'ba ba'.
