No I can't see them either - you need to make your album a public one Little Harry's Mum, and welcome by the way! Great name, my DS1 is a Harry, I love it.

So glad to hear you got your money Algach. Phew for you. See, good thanks happen to good people too!

Toby is trying sooooo hard to roll over. He arches his back so he is almost touching his calves with his head! Won't be long I don't think, he just needs to get those rugby player thighs flipped.......

Went swimming today, as parents are back from hols and could mind Toby.

Hi Dangirl! Wot nationality are you then?

Hi everyone,

and a special hello to littleharrysmum. Glad you found us. (i couldn't see your pics either hun)

I am so tired...this fluey bug has come back and I just cant shake it. Am feeling really run down at the moment. Never mind, just hope it's gone by chrimbo.

Jasmine is lying on her playmat making the cutest sqealing noises, she is so talkative. But showing no signs of trying to sit yet. I blame it on her not having any bum .

i think i've just about got the girls prezzies sorted out for xmas, we dont bother with anything big under the tree, just stocking fillers really. Then after xmas (2nd Jan) we are all going up to plymouth on a shopping trip to get them something.

Well am feeling rough so gotta go, hope all is well with everyone. bye for now.

Morning everyone

LittleHarry - what a lovely little boy - I see he is starting early with the remote control!

I am so fed up of the rain!! I hate living up north sometimes - all it seems to do is rain! As soon as I plan to go out somewhere, the minute me and Josh are ready, down comes the rain!! I felt really mean yesterday as I had planned to go swimming and it was absolutely chucking it down so I went anyway dragging poor JOsh out in the rain (he enjoyed the swimming though) - as DH says, if we stopped doing things because it was raining, we would never leave the house! I haven't taken Josh for a walk for over a week cos of the rain - anyway, weather rant over now!

I can't believe how quickly my maternity leave is going - I am getting really sad now as I only have 3 full 'normal' weeks left with Josh (assuming I do go back to work) as he starts his 3 weeks of 'trials' in nursery straight after the New Year. Every morning, I wake up and feel sad that this lovely period of our lives is ending - is it normal to feel so sad?

FrostytheSnowman · 05/12/2006 09:52

Morning ladies

dangirl-you is English no?

xmas-I feel sad all the time and I am not due back at work until at least May. Mine is at the thought that MIL is going to insist on having Sophie for a day once a week like she does DD1 so she can see her. Can't bear to be with MIL when she is bouncing my baby around the room on her shoulder (well, round the house actually out of my view) oh, and rocking her and numerous other annoying things . I never had to put DD1 in nursery until she was 2 years and 2 months as mum and MIL had them for the 2 days I worked so really feel for you. All my friends put their babies in. If you don't go back to work will you keep Josh at home or let him carry on at nursery?

LittleHarrysMum-what a gorg little boy, you must be so proud!

Sophie woke at 3am but fed for just 10 mins before she was fast off again.

And DD1 had done a little wee in her potty last night-progress!!!!!

Another wrapping day and Sophie has gone to sleep so must get going.

Morning all,

I need some advice. Kayley has been trying to poo for nearly three days now, she struggles and pushes and gets a little bit out each time, and then falls asleep from the exertion even though there's loads left in there. What can I give her to help her - I've tried massage, and even orange juice ( I know you're not meant to give them citrus fruits). She's in torture the poor little thing. Please if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. She's not even on solids yet, so there must be something with her formula. I always take great care making it, so if it's wrong then it's a genuine mistake, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I did switch from Farley's to SMA (Both hungry baby milk) though I wouldn't have thought that would make a difference.

Must go, she's off again

Thanks for any advice

Annie

FrostytheSnowman · 05/12/2006 10:04

Annie

Sorry to hear that-Sophie gets constipated every now and again. She is on solids now but when she wasn't I gave her boiled water but now give her Ribena (sugar free). Also, someone said about getting hold of the feet and do a cycling motion IYSWIM which can help shift things so I did this too-it all came out in the end, usually once a week.

xmasstocking · 05/12/2006 10:05

Frosty - LOL at MIL bouncing and rocking - do we have the same MIL?? The other day we were round at hers and Josh was grumbling cos he was tired. She asked what was wrong so I said he was tired so she promptly started waving some toy that made a noise annoyingly in his face over and over again, and then said 'oh lets go and see what toys we can find' and walked off with him (bouncing and rocking) - I was left sat there thinking 'which bit of he is tired don't you understand!!'.

Anyway, if I stayed at home, we couldn't afford to put him in nursery so he would be at home with me - even another 6 months would make me feel better as he just looks so little and 'babyish' to hand him over to other people to look after - however qualified they are. I know this is probably more about my 'control' issues but I just love our life at the moment (no alarms in the morning, and just chilling out doing what we want all day) that I really don't want to give it up. Have not missed work at all.

OP posts:
SleepIsForTheWeak · 05/12/2006 10:06

I ounce prune juice mixed with 1 ounce water, twice a day.... late morning and early evening.
I found this out cos Sefton struggles generally too. Once things are sorted you can go down to once a day.
hope this helps

xmasstocking · 05/12/2006 10:09

Annie - cross-posted so I hadn't seen yours. I have heard the cycling that Frosty has mentioned and also massaging their stomach in a anti-clockwise direction can help move things along. Really sorry that Kayley is suffering .

FestiveAtForty · 05/12/2006 10:11

Welcome Harrysmum, he?s gorgeous!

Hi to Dangirl too

Annie ? really don?t know re the pooing, but if you don?t get any better ideas you could try gripe water watered down with lukewarm boiled water ? it should be soothing for her digestive system anyway, and the extra fluid might help with the constipation? I?ve been giving this to Emma to help soothe her sore throat and she seems to like it.

Xmas ? if it?s any consolation the weather?s not any better here in the West Country ? blowing a gale last night with tons of rain, still raining this morning.

I feel just the same about end of maternity leave, really resent how much our life is going to change and I?m only going back 3 days a week. Am still dreading nursery, we have to do the ?induction? days before end of Dec.

I think Emma?s going to be a hot contender for ?last to roll? ? not a jot of interest in it, though she does like to arch her back. I think reclining?s more her thing, maybe it?s hereditary

Kayzed ? motherhood really does have its glamorous moments doesn?t it! All that toddler stuff to look forward to? Re the Enfamil, haven?t tried it yet because Emma?s cold has been so bad, but she seems much better today so will probably try it before the weekend, will let you know how we get on.

Algach ? hurrah so pleased for you

Prettymum ? hope work?s going okay

Sleep and Mae ? I had AF at 16 weeks and now at 20 weeks, also exclusively BF ? no it?s not fair is it! The doctor was surprised when I told her, but had no explanation to offer. On the bright side, not much pmt or pains. The first one took me completely by surprise.

Well Emma has officially stopped being perfect ?sleep through the night? baby. She has woken at least an hour earlier each night since Friday, she was going through from 11pm-7am, last night it was 11pm-1.30am with another wake up call at 6am. She?s also really hard to settle back to sleep. Not sure why she?s waking, she feeds well at night but then she rarely refuses a feed anyway. She seems to want to socialise, the other night she actually went ?Ahhh ? HEH!!? when she realised she had succeeded in getting me out of bed!

Lol at your crisp weaning dream Mae

FestiveAtForty · 05/12/2006 10:16

prettymum · 05/12/2006 10:57

i have no idea frosty! i didnt even know they used to do that!! i started working there last december and i dont know anything about it? i'll ask my manager over the weekend

AnnieIdeasForAnXmasName · 05/12/2006 10:58

Well, sod's law, the minute after I posted, she did a big one!! I still think there's more though.
Thanks for the advice. Frosty I've been doing the cycling thing as well, she may as well do the Tour de France next year, she'll be well enough trained for it!
Have given her gripe water as well, Festive, though she doesn't seem to swallow it, just gobs it out again.
Sleep, thanks, I'll go and get some prune juice and try that. Extra fluids won't do any harm either. Sympathies with the no sleep, same here!!
Thanks everyone.

Am dreading going back to work too, in the New Year. Have to though, to pay the mortgage. DH will be looking after both babies though. I'm just so disappointed cos I know I'm going to miss so much.

I'm back on the pill now, for three months, so I've had 3 AF's. Only this time did I dare to try a tampon though!!! I've never had much probs with it, so I can't complain really, though it is strange being regular again, after not having one for the best part of 2 years... Wearing tampons and jeans though, helps me feel 'normal' again!! Like the old days!

And poor DS is suffering as well, he has a phlegmy cough, so keeps waking at night as well... Ah the joys...

Will try and catch up with all your posts later.

Annie

TwinkleInSantasEye · 05/12/2006 12:25

Hi girls. Welcome to all the newbies - the pics are lovely.

Sleep - I've felt like AF is about to return for about the last 3 weeks. Been having that clear discharge for weeks now (TMI I know ). Unfortunately this is exactly how things have always been (ie don't know what's going on half the time), which is probably why it took 4 years to conceive, and I'm more than a bit disappointed that nothing seems to have changed. Festive

Xmas, Festive & Annie - I'm going back to work too in the middle of January and I am DREADING it. I have to go back for at least 3 months or I have to pay back some of my maternity pay so I see it as basically serving my sentence and then we'll see what happens. DH does contract work so he's going to stay at home with Aidan and we'll have to decide what to do after that depending how things go. I feel A's too little for nursery just yet & I hate the thought of leaving him with strangers (I have control freak tendencies as well). I SOO want to be a SAHM for at least 2 or 3 years but we have to pay the mortgage & DH's work is too unstable.

Well Aidan hardly ever rolls over, even on to his side. He's much more interested in trying to sit up - must have inherited my nosiness! I got him one of those playnests yesterday and he seems to like it. I'm worried about his back though - does anyone know how long at a time they should stay propped b4 they can sit unsupported?

SleepIsForTheWeak · 05/12/2006 13:35

Sefton is 5 months today and I have just given him his frist baby rice and he loved loved LOVED it!
He has been in SUCH a good mood since, laughing like mad, I think he really needed it!

I soooooooo hope he sleeps better tonight.

Sad for all you who have to return to work. I have been working for a bit, but freelance, so I can plan it all around us which makes it viable...

IamBlossom · 05/12/2006 13:55

Hi Girls.

KZ, LOL at peeing in crisp packet, new flavour, wees and onion? doubt it will catch on. Later bedtime does not seem to be working with DS1 though as you say may take a few more days to take effect. All he is doing now is waking at the same time with one hour less sleep under his belt, so is even rattier by lunch time.

No AF here although know wot you mean re discharge Twink.

I remember very clearly how I felt when I had to back to work after DS1. It was such a golden time in my life, that 6 months with my first, zooming around the country to playgroups and coffee and lunches with friends and seeing so much of my mum. I made 3 good friends during that time through having babies, that I am still close to - I sent each of them a card when I went back to work thanking them for helping to make my leave so special, I remember feeling very emotional about it. I am very glad I am not in the same boat this time round, but it did occur to me to make the most of the next couple of years because me not working is definitely not permanent..............

Was so tired last night I really couldn't be bothered to dream feed Toby, and thought I'd take my chances....He went down at 6pm, and didn't wake up till 6.30am this morning!!! I couldn't beleive it! That's the longest he's gone without food since he was born. I am going to stop dreamfeeding now and see what happens, I bet it was a oneoff......would have been sooo lovely if DS1 hadn't got up at 5.30am.....KZ, don't think the "stay in your room chat" would work. I might try it if this last much longer but he is only 2.3, and has only really just started playing alone when i am in within sight, so solo playing in his room first thing might be a tad ambitious. Thanks for the suggestion though....

He is doing really well with his potty training, he only really has accidents now at nursery when they take their eye of the ball and he is engrossed in a game with the others. Very rare that he has an accident at home or when he is with me......

Just had to put my house back together after DS1 had two friends round to play. Time for a cuppa and some Will & Grace methinks while he has akip...

Hi all and welcome LittleHarrysMum - glad you found us ok .

My mum is staying for a few days so went out for long blowy walk followed by lunch today. Still really struggling with daytime naps here. I've tried putting him down awake and alert so many times, but the whinging and moaning just escalates into full on crying and I'm too softhearted to let him cry at this age. I try to get in a morning nap by taking a walk about 10ish for a good hour, keeping me fit too! In the afternoon I'm ashamed to say I feed him to sleep or cuddle up with him in the big bed and have a nap too . I reason that I won't have the chance to do this if we have another child as I'll be too busy running round after a toddler!

Proud mummy time - DS is holding himself really well in sitting position, with minimum support from me. He loves to look round and get a new perspective on things. Prob why he's not bothered about rolling (and NOT keen on tummy time)

Santa123 · 05/12/2006 16:54

Hi girls

Sunita123 here Feeling a bit more festive ATM. Got the tree up, Dec's up, an my appt at the hospital on Thursday!!! (for the cervical polyps) Will see what they say. Have not been too apprehensive about it but as time draws closer can't help but get butterflies in my stomach.

Kavya's been really good. She's sleeping well at night and now she watches us when we are eating. The look on her face being .."can I have some of that?" Gave her a clean spoon to suck on and she was well away.

Will now try and catch up on some of your posts. Been trying to keep up, but keep losing track. So much going on!!!

See you later

kbaby · 05/12/2006 17:20

Ds woke every 2hrs again last night and then dh had the nerve to say he had work the next day when I asked him to get up with ds at 5.30am!! ill be glad when im back in work because then dh wont have the ?work? excuse and may start pulling his weight.

LittleHarrysMum hello, don?t worry theres a few aug mums here as we were all late, welcome to the gang

Maewest ? are you on friends introductory offer isn?t littleharrysmum the 2nd person you?ve brought to the thread
Bloss- dd doesn?t go to bed until 8pm, any earlier and she wakes during the night. If she wakes before 7am as its dark outside I tell her its still night time and to go back to sleep.

Xmasstocking ? im sure wales has to be wetter than Scotland and yes its perfectly ok to feel so sad at having to go back to work, I go back 22nd jan so not far behind you. Mil will be looking after ds though so I have to go back to smiling politely when she tells me how she got ds to sleep/fed him etc and then come home and get dh to tell her she cant do x with dd it was cooked dinner with salt and nursing her constantly.

By the way you need to rub the tummy in a clockwise circle to get the poo moving, it?s a baby massage trick.

Ds has only rolled from tummy to back once and I think that was a accident, he generally rolls on to his side
Maewest- don?t worry ds will only go to sleep cuddled, screams his head off if I put him down awake.

xmasstocking · 05/12/2006 17:35

I knew I would get the direction wrong for tummy rubbing - I was trying to imagine it in my head!

Kbaby - I am going back to work the same week as you but the nursery offers 3 trial weeks (1 hour a day for the first week, 2 hours for the 2nd week and 3 hours for the 3rd week) which is why he is starting at the beginning of January. My MIL looking after Josh would be my worst nightmare - in some ways, it is easier to tell a nursery what you want them to do/don't want them to do than a relative I guess.
