Ladies, thought I would do the new thread as the other one is taking forever to load up.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
prettymum · 01/12/2006 12:04

oh my god im such a bad mother!! he was born on the 19th!! gettin it confused with due date!!!

prettymum · 01/12/2006 12:05

... he is now 19 weeks accordind to my calculations!

kbaby · 01/12/2006 12:48

FrostytheSnowman ? Do what I always do when I need 5 mins peace and put a DVD on or cbeebies.

Our party tricks are;
Foot slamming and swinging them side to side in an attempt to roll over
Holding my boob like a bottle and shaking his head frantically from side to side to find my nipple before ive even undressed
Also keeps pushing off me with his arms with my nipple still in his mouth while feeding, ouch, then letting go and smiling before doing it again

We almost had a sleep through last night
He fed at 8pm then 12.30am and then woke at 2am, at this point I though he was having a laugh as surely a growth spurt isn?t just at night, so I reswaddled him and laid him on my lap ready to feed and before id undone my bra he fell asleep again. That was it until 7.30am when I went and got him. Somehow I don?t think hell do it again but at least it gives me hope.

Krimbo- Am loving having to do bugger all to get her to sleep (that sounds awful, but it is a real blessing compared to the rocking / patting / walking / swaying etc we had to do with DS). Spill the beans then, how did you manage that?

SleepIsForTheWeak I cant believe how much your ds is doing, poor ds is mainly stuck in his boucy chair away from the evil clutches of dd who if she sees him on his play gym has to join his and it all ends in tears 2 mins later.

Xmas- Love the pics- great hat too!

Festive- I hope you have some luck with the Enfamil. How is she in herself?

Twinkle- Happy home hunting! I love looking at houses! My HV recommended I start weaning but if I had felt it was the right time I would have done it anyhow whatever her opinion.

Figgy- Congrats on BF this long, you should feel very proud of yourself.

Bloss- Haven't been to Marwell for years, I live about 20 mins from it too.

Pretty- Bless your protective DD

Sleep- Nights like that are so hard. Sefton sounds alot like Zack, they are both very active, my HV says this is why Zack feeds so often.

kosh- Real tears are a heartbreaker aren't they?!

Kbaby- Hope you get a repeat of last night!

Our party tricks are sucking my chin, chewing his toes, leg slamming and rolling back to front!

Zack had his first taste of baby rice this lunchtime and he loved it! I was soooo pleased, I was starting to wonder if I was doing the right thing but he enjoyed it so much that my doubts went away. Plus he is 20 weeks this weekend so it's not that early.
After the first couple of tastes he was opening his mouth wide for the next one I thought we were going to have alot of mess and playing around before he actually started eating it properly!

Have a good day all x

Koshka1984 · 01/12/2006 14:29

us and our - not a heartbreaker really i was in the kitchen making his bottle and ex walked into the living room where jake was. He came running in with jake in his arms 'there's something wrong!'.

Er, no, just hungry.....

HAHAHAHAHA

xmasstocking · 01/12/2006 14:41

Usand - how good are you? Do you make notes as you are reading the posts because I always forget who said what by the time I have finished.

So, it's December! Let the Christmas spirit begin!! Now where's that wine and chocolate...
Still haven't thought of a festive name though.

I wrote a big long message a little while ago, then it all crashed on me. SO I'll just pretend I posted it, it's all of my chest now anyway. What's left of my chest (i.e. nothing)

Koshka, lol at your ex! D'oh! Hope things are better with you.

Party Tricks:
Leg slamming
Lunging forward when sitting on my knee, then lunging back again and nearly knocking me out!
Laughing at her brother!!

She had her jabs on Wednesday, and hasn't been herself since. A bit feverish, and almost constant whining. Me and DH were up most of the night with her. On his turn he took her to watch the cricket, so at least that's something. On my turn, he still came and sat with us as he couldn't sleep anyway, so I had to tell him to get back to bed, as my turn was up soon! He can be a bit mother-in-law-ish sometimes, do this, do that. YES I KNOW I WAS JUST ABOUT TO! He comes in handy though...
DS slept through the night in his own cot for the first time probably ever! Which was just as handy, as Kayley was in the bed with me, me propped up on two pillows, she just won't lay down on her own... I know I know, disgraceful sleep training, but at the moment it's the only way of getting any sleep at all.

A new trick for getting DS from under my feet if I'm in the kitchen, go and check on your sister, and off he goes and gives her a little kiss! AW!!

Oh yeah, still no luck with the weaning. When she's better I'll try her with some rice. Maybe the apple is just too strong a taste yet. It did work for DS, but like you say, she's a different baby.

Now I reallly must go. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Annie

Hi everyone. Just discovered this thread - my DS was born July 5 - so it's great to compare notes as there aren't any ante-natal clubs here in Madrid (that I've found, anyway). Can't boast about any of Ryan's new tricks though really - he's not showing much interest in rolling over, crawling or anything except giggling away in his bouncy chair... different strokes for different folks I guess! He's been really poorly this last week though - he's just started nursery and has picked up a nasty cough. Ho hum. Anyway, just wanted to say 'hi' and join in...

FestiveAtForty · 01/12/2006 19:30

Welcome ImpyChica ? Madrid, how lovely!

Party trick ? pterodactyl impressions (well what I?d imagine one to sound like anyway )

Aaaw Bloss, that would be lovely ? we?d need more than one bottle though

Good news UsandBump, must be a great relief that he?s feeding so well

Sleep ? it does sound as if Sefton is a live wire, doing really well with crawling!

Pretty ? Junior sounds very lively and bouncy too, his latest pics were gorgeous!

Annie ? hope Kayley sleeps better tonight

Well it?s Calpol central chez Forty today, Emma?s cold has really come out now, loads of snot, coughing and wheezing, poor little girl She doesn?t seem too bad in herself, quite bright actually, though her throat must really hurt from the sound of it. I?m trying to get her to nap as much as possible, and tanking her up with feeds and watered down Calpol when she?s awake.

Not sure what to do about weaning, doc implied that it would be best to get the formula sorted first before thinking about introducing other foods in case she is sensitive to other things. Would be good to try baby rice soon though, want to get her started on at least some form of solids before she goes to nursery to take the pressure off EBM if the formula thing isn?t sorted by then. Oh well, can?t do much before this cold?s better anyway, don?t want to add puking to her list of ailments!

Well better get off and cook tea, have good evenings all xx

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 01/12/2006 19:48

Hi ImpyChica, welcome to the thread

Had bionic non-napping baby today, whining for the boob all the time. Only time he wasn't tugging at my top was when he was asleep (briefly). Which of course meant he was absolutely wired come bedtime, didn't know what he wanted, kept pulling off the boob etc. In the end DH bounced and shushed him to sleep (still got the birth ball hanging around, handy ). Don't think it's a growth spurt, think he's just keeping me on my toes, but we shall see what the night brings. And he hasn't pooed today (usually goes once or twice a day), does this mean I finally get one of those fab bf babies who only go once a week, oh please can I have one, please! Off to raid the xmas cupboard for fine wine, it's been a long week

Wallace · 01/12/2006 20:03

Welcome impychica

We have the pterodactyl impressions too!

maewest - we had an identical day this week, so I can empathise. Leo was exhausted by 6, but didn't settle til 10:30!

IamBlossom · 01/12/2006 21:10

evening girls.

Is BumpyBel still with us? can't remember if she is here still under a different name...

Maewest that sounds tiring. In contrast, we have had a dreamy day today (but I am still drinking wine is that allowed?) Stayed in alllll day today, as it was filthy weather here - my sister was here with her baby girl too, and we played, the kids slept, DS1 had a 2.5 hour nap (cos he is STILL getting up at 5am, that's a whole other thread) watched the Polar Express (AGAIN!!) drank tea, played some more, had bath time, and generally had a lovely day! I do find if I stay home I can predict TOby's mood much more efectively, and his feeding and sleeping is much more regulated. it will make me stay in more I think, but not that much more - we do alot of visiting and activities DS1 and I so I'm afraid Toby has to come along for the ride.....

Busy weekend approaching as usual, people to stay tomorrow with their two kids, so that should be interesting. DH back at work next week after two weeks off, not that we;ve seen him every day as he's been off fishing. Looking forward to getting back to my own routine to be honest, despite the usefulness of having a spare pair of hands...

DS1 had a later bed time tonight, 7.30 instead of 6.30, to see if it makes any difference to his waking time - 5am is HARSH MAN!!

Jason Donovan to win!

Lots of Love,

Bloss

FestiveAtForty · 01/12/2006 21:36

omg it had hairs on it - think he may win now...

kbaby · 01/12/2006 21:39

Well ive done the most depressing thing ever, I just watched all our camcorder footage of DD as a baby. She was so much more active than DS is, she was rolling back to belly and back again at 14 weeks. On the playgym she was kicking and moving about. She was making loads of noises and giggling and singing.
I did find out that I actually weaned her at 19 weeks not the 22 weeks I thought.

I know she was slightly advanced of other babies her age and always seemed more grown up but I didn?t realise the difference was so much. Maybe it?s because I still handle ds as if he is still a newborn or that I don?t give him half the attention DD had. Infact I think I hardly spend more than 30 mins one to one with him a day. He is mainly in the kitchen in his bouncy while I tidy up/cook/wash etc or on my lap while I try to do things with DD ie playdoh. I just feel really guilty that maybe hes so slow because I don?t give him enough attention or maybe there is something wrong with him. Im comparison to DD he doesn?t utter a word, only rolls on to his side, only smiles and kicks his legs about and waves his arms but much less active.

ImpyChica ? welcome

Maewestyemerrygentlemen- On the subject of poos how do they manage to poo but it completely misses most of the nappy and ends up around waist level!!

I am blos-_ you sound as if you had a lovely day

Ok what can my xmas name be?

kbaby, tbh think your dd prob needs you more in some ways, wouldn't worry about whether your ds needs more stimulation as he's still fairly little. My mum (with 30 yrs experience of working with small children) favours a parenting style of 'benign neglect', basically keep them fed and clean, cuddled when necessary but otherwise just leave them to their own devices. I'm a product of this and remember my childhood fondly, so she must have been doing something right

evening ladies!

welcome imychica!!!

kbaby- every child is different!! dont worry too much. my dd who is now 2.1 yrs has only just learnt to say mummy!!! and still isnt talking properly compared to other 2 year olds ive met.

dp is so funny!! he has the whole day with the kids by himself tomorrow and he so clueless about everything because this is the first time doing this without me.

he asked me to do dds hair and sort all their clothes out before i go to work!! but he's cheating, he's going to leave them at his aunts for a few hours to sort his car out!!

well i have to now go and tidy up and try and get an early night so i can be nice and fresh for the morning and prepared for the busy xmas period in boots!!!

by the way you should go boots in the new years sale because the gift sets are dead cheap (down to around £2.50) , i bought so much last year!!

FestiveAtForty · 01/12/2006 22:45

Kbaby - what everyone else has said sounds like it makes sense, plus your DD sounds as if she was naturally advanced so DS is not 'behind'

Kayzed - let's just say true dedication to trash tv means you will always find a way - my long suffering DP will testify to that

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 02/12/2006 07:56

Hi everyone,

I really need to check in on her daily (at least). Any less then that and it takes forever to catch up on all your posts.

Hello to Impy- Glad you could join us. We're a pretty friendly bunch on here.

Kbaby- Relax hon. My dd1 (4) and dd2 (3) are so different from each other it is unbelievable. I remember being quite worried about dd2 coz she didnt roll over for ages. But you have to remember that all children are individuals. They grow and learn at different rates and in different ways.

Prettymum- Partners are soo funny when it comes to looking after lo's arent they. Dh is pretty good and is a hands on dad, but leave him alone with even the two oldest and not much gets done around here.

I have to admit I dont leave Jasmine with him for very long. For no other reason then I am still feeding her every 2 hours (sometimes more).

Jaz still hasn't rolled over yet. Instead she loves to amuse herself by spinning around on her playmat. Her favourite game at the mo is pulling hair and squeeling in delight. And I am sure she is the most vocal of my 3, spends all day talking to herself.

Well, I mustn't hang around any longer. Have booked breakfast with a certain fat Jolly gentleman.

Have a nice day gals, Bye for now

Pink
