Mine has just weed all over the floor. Maybe she's drunk too much water?!

We've had a couple of successful wee and poo in potty incidents but more by chance than anything else I think. Wee on her clothes upsets her and then she wants to sit on her potty for hours which defeats the purpose!

Raeside · 17/08/2015 10:30

Omg you guys that water thread. I was a v v early adopter of water bottles. She'd hate me. Can't go anywhere without one!

Dreamt last night bout potty training Joe. Went only marginally better than house training the dog.

In rather annoying news I went for another scan today and The embryo hasn't grown and although they can see heartbeat it's far too slow. I go back in ten days for definitive answer unless something happens before then. I feel so sick. So unfair. If it's all wrong wtf is it doing hanging around for 8 and a half weeks?!

HungryHorace · 17/08/2015 14:06

Oh, I'm sorry Rae. That's shitty news. :-(

As for potty use here: random use, no enthusiasm. Also hates wet / poo knickers but won't use potty to avoid this!

cuphat · 17/08/2015 15:35

I'm sorry, Rae.

PeekABooPinky101 · 17/08/2015 18:53

Sorry Rae, thats crappy.

I'd survive fine on that other thread, I just don't drink! Anything. I am awful.

Went to the circus on sat with dd met the whole of new mans family too, but that's a totally different thread who insisted on only doing wee's on the big toilets there. Wasn't like there were massive cues and that they stunk. I am now considering asking a few people to line up outside ours and see if it helps!

BeanCalledPickle · 17/08/2015 19:06

I think we may have to shelve this for a while. She's desperate for a poo but won't relax to do it. Keeps running to hide and we are chasing her with the potty. This isn't really how it's meant to be?!?

HungryHorace · 17/08/2015 19:14

Oh god, Bean. Sounds like here!

SunnyL · 17/08/2015 20:09

We've given up on the potty for a while here. Too many puddles. Will attempt in a few weeks I think.

Mrs81 · 17/08/2015 20:17

DS tells us 'poo' & 'loilet' - but won't go near the loo, insists on having his trousers pulled up and, tonight anyway, wants to lie down. Not condusive to toilet training. I'm not fussed. He's not ready yet - but he will be one day Smile

So sorry about your scan Rae. I do hope you know one way or another as soon as Thanks

BeanCalledPickle · 18/08/2015 08:48

I think we will shelve it as well for a bit. It's not a race after all. I think it would have been nice to crack it in the warmer months though rather than have multiple layers exposed to wee and poo! I guess we have to buy vests without poppers going forward in anticipation. And indeed all clothes will need to be of the easily removed type!

Mrs81 · 18/08/2015 10:50

Oh you're right Bean. I'm going to put DS in dungarees as much as possible now he's so darn cute in them before potty training kicks in. Dungarees seem incompatible with easy removal!

cuphat · 18/08/2015 21:12

Shelving it here too. I think we missed the magical window when I was pregnant! DD doesn't care about her star chart!

Bean, most vests for 2-3 are without poppers anyway. I've only seen poppered ones in one place.

Have you all seen the site attack thread from earlier today?! I've only just been directed to it. Off to have a read...

BeanCalledPickle · 18/08/2015 21:36

Don't worry Cup she will come back to it. In real life there is much talk of toilet training but limited actual success. We've got M and S vests which I love. But guess their days are numbered one way or another.

Saying that virtually everyone in real life has got them firmly in big beds now. I think we have also cracked this. How about you guys?

Mrs81 · 18/08/2015 22:29

DS likes his toddler bed. It's good for bouncing on Hmm

We suspect that he sleepwalks though - we find him on the floor of his room, too far to have just rolled out of bed and he was wandering around our bedroom a couple of nights ago at 1am, not particularly needing anything & not upset...just pottering really!!

HungryHorace · 19/08/2015 07:15

DD demanded the single bed after our (disastrous) holiday where she had to have one and seemingly hated it. Clearly she reconsidered afterwards and decided to give it a go (our spare - single - bed was in her room so it didn't have to be stored in the shed and get damp) and hasn't looked back since. Especially as it has owl bedding on and she loves 'ow-wuls'!

I think we somehow missed the first window for potty training. Though the book recommended by Bean says 2 1/4 is usually the first age for trying with success, so maybe another month or so will do it (Indian summer hopefully!).

Sleepwalking, Mrs? Interesting! We have a gate across DD's doorway so she doesn't get out and throw herself down the stairs overnight. Not that she tries to get out, thankfully!

Sorry about your sad news rae, hope things work out if not ths time then next Flowers

We're still firmly in the cot. I am feeling no desire to change that any time soon.

And still no potty training. Had a couple of short/failed attempts but it is one thing after the other - holidays, now the kid have been sick, none of which lends itself to potty training. I don't feel any rush. Will try in a few weeks maybe....

Raeside · 19/08/2015 08:51

Thanks for your kind words, all....we shall see how it goes. At the moment my body still thinks it's pregnant which is bloody inconvenient (I suppose technically it is...) but I could do without the tiredness and nausea and sore tits if they're not for anything!

It's a waiting game till next Wednesday now, hoping with everything crossed nothing happens before then, and if that scan confirms it's all done and dusted then I plan to go to the EPU and ask for (DEMAND) surgical intervention. I start a new contract on 7 Sept and don't have time for all the back and forth, and tbh I just want it over with, if over with is my only option.

In less grim news - Joe has been saying 'Oh! Joe-Joe wee wee!' quite often now, I guess when he does a wee in his pullups/nappy. Am I missing a trick by not doing something about this? Just that when we put him on the loo he loves to sit there for ten mins but never actually does anything so we've restricted his access to it on the basis that it musn't become a recreational activity (well, not till he's 16 and revolting, urgh, and does that man thing of spending 30 mins taking a shit).

I also think we need to take the side of his cot. Not that bothered about doing so really for night time as I think he'll be fine, but worried about the integrity of afternoon naps! Gah.

Advice welcome.

I'm working from home today so I decided in a fit of self-pity (with this whole baby thing and 9 days of tonsillitis without drugs I'm wallowing) to book first hairdresser appt in 18 months, so at 11am I'll go get beautified. Definitely counts as working, right?

HungryHorace · 19/08/2015 09:17

I think that knowing they're weeing / pooing is a first step. It just also has to be combined with a desire to use the loo / potty at the same time. That's the tricky bit!

DD knows she needs a wee but will not combine this with sitting on the potty / loo. Rather frustrating as the carpets just get bloody wet. Sigh.

Raeside · 19/08/2015 09:28

I'm increasingly wondering whether I just have to suck it up and buy a potty, which I categorically didn't want to do. Dammit.

BeanCalledPickle · 19/08/2015 13:34

I was exactly the same. Very anti potty which is of course a bucket of shit on the floor. Then I realised I don't have a downstairs loo. And I don't want to have to replace the floor. So I'm trying to suck it up. Still grim though.

Raeside · 19/08/2015 13:39

I do have a downstairs loo but it's still a palaver to get them there rather than, I imagine, doing the whole 'do you need a wee' waving potty under their face thing.

RueDeWakening · 19/08/2015 20:54

M is sleeping in a big bed arm, we're away on holiday and there's no cot. He's fallen out a couple of times, but we had a mattress topper and a couple of pillows on the floor, he didn't even wake up Grin

Words are finally coming thick and fast, weird collection though - we now have goggles, swimming, and chickens (thanks to the chickens at the end of the road we keep visiting). And ice cream. And MY TURN. MY HAT. MY (insert random object here). He's...loud.

SunnyL · 19/08/2015 21:03

We're in the beginning process of setting up her big girl bedroom and beds. My grandpa has just gone into a home so we've been given 2 single beds and a chest of drawers. I have grand plans of upcycling them but seen as I only have the energy to sit on the sofa we'll see how long that takes.

Lil likes bouncing on the single bed in the day but doesn't want to sleep on it.

Last night i found her asleep in her bed with a spare nappy. It was only in the morning that DH pointed out she'd actually changed her own nappy Shock

Biscuitswithtea · 20/08/2015 20:34

Did she do gaffa tape too Sunny?? Either way, that's very impressive!

(I've name-changed...I used to be 81)

SunnyL · 20/08/2015 21:11

Not last night but last week I did find 5 nappies in her bed one of which was coated in duct tape.

I totally forgot i was going to give you my bed guard. I'm heading over your way tomorrow if you still need it?
