Bix = weetabix
octnana = octopus
yog-hut = yogurt
snap snap = crocodile. Or a shark. Obvs.
lion = those claw style hairclips. Totally my fault that one Blush

I must write these down somewhere; it will pass in a blur otherwise.

BeanCalledPickle · 21/05/2015 13:33

It's extremely endearing I think!
Dog = woof woof
Lion = roar
Zebra= zizzi
Train= choo choo
Pizza=pi pi
Monkey= mink mink

I can't stand to correct her!

SunnyL · 21/05/2015 14:08

Wee = raisins.

No fecking idea where that came from.

But yes lots of lovely versions of words to the point where the dog has stopped being called Tally and is instead called Ta Ta. Bet that pisses the dog off more.

DH pointed out to me that she can identify makes of car. Every volkswagon is Daddy's car and every honda is mummy's car. No matter the colour or shape. Clearly she takes after her father cos I haven't a scoobie about cars.

cuphat · 21/05/2015 15:25

DD loves aeroplanes and helicopters. DH has a small remote control helicopter and every time she sees one the same colour in the sky she says "Daddy's helicopter (used to be hepcopter)!". I'd love for her to see a real one up close (maybe if she visits me in hospital!).

HungryHorace · 22/05/2015 07:18

DD waves at planes and will say 'Bye bye plane' as they fly out of view. It's very cute!

We have bilberries for blueberries, bic bic and nana (so not too bad). I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. #badmummy

Every flying insect J sees is said to be a bee, every bird he sees he makes a weird sound crossed between a duck and a crow, he loves to watch the dog take a dump and points, joyfully calling out 'POO POO!' That's pretty special. Buses are buthes, trucks are twucks. I'll be sad when the lisp leaves town...

Yes he also waves hi and bye to planes, and to any car or scooter we pass by on walks. Then when we've passed its 'no more'. And we have to pat every tree on our street hello, and meow at any cat we see.

Walking anywhere takes ages.

HungryHorace · 22/05/2015 08:11

Ah, DD is obsessed with bees and ants. Snails are 'nai's. We have quite a few in our garden to point and shout at!

She loves sticks and has a favourite one in the garden.

Luckily she's happy to trot along without holding me up. Bloody good job too as toddler speed is slow enough already!

They are all at a properly cute stage right now with the caveat that it is true as long as you're not in a hurry....

Mrs81 · 22/05/2015 09:00

I think ds can tell when I'm in a hurry. It makes things so much harder. But if I stop to read the book or whatever he REALLY wants me to notice, rather than get dressed/get out the door then he's much more compliant. Frustrating as hell though when you're trying to get somewhere on time!

HungryHorace · 22/05/2015 09:37

Ha! My pre-baby amazingly prompt timekeeping is a relic of the past. And it's worse with two of them!

OP posts:
Mrs81 · 22/05/2015 12:05

I used to be a bit obsessive about time keeping. Pre ds. Now I just have to get a grip! Grin

DS just had a total meltdown because he asked for a bweeoche (brioche), and i gave him one. It was only made better when I put it back in the bag and let him get one out. Then he scoffed it Hmm

BeanCalledPickle · 22/05/2015 12:52

I am still struggling with walking. We've been going to get her from nursery and seeing if she will walk home. Seven minutes at adult pace. It's just not happening. She throws herself on the ground, demands to be carried, runs up every driveway and into the road. Literally will not cover the ground left to her own devices. Has rejected buggy board. So basically we've had to abandon all attempts. I'm assuming this will get better with time? It's very embarrassing that the child of two people who met through hiking and mountaineering have a toddler that won't walk. I have read that it can be because the world looks rubbish at that height, and various other explanations but bottom line is she's just not up for it.

Mrs81 · 22/05/2015 13:15

Would she go on a push-along trike Bean? It WILL pass. But a total faff for you this now.

It's a total gamble with ds as to whether he'll walk where we want him to or not. Sometimes he's in the mood to hold my hand and trot along beside me. Other times he is determined to go the wrong way, onto road etc. We're lucky that he doesn't fuss about being in his pram so that sometimes becomes the solution when time and safety become an issue.

Mrs81 · 22/05/2015 13:16

Just thought, is she tired after nursery? DS is practically on his knees when I pick him up. There's no way he'd walk a mile then!!

SunnyL · 23/05/2015 13:08

Have you tried giving her a baby buggy to push? If Lil has something to push it is 100x easier to get anywhere. We've got a minging pink baby buggy she pushes her dolly in which means I can actually get to the shop and back.

Sunbeam18 · 23/05/2015 21:23

Seconding Sunny's suggestion. Either that or a Little Tikes style car thing/scooter? DS will happily push his scooter for a decent walk, and will push his car and then happily ride on it (he straps in and it has a handle for pushing).

Sunbeam18 · 23/05/2015 21:24

Loving the cute words too. We have 'a-dee' for 'all done' at the end of milk/yogurt/biscuit/meal.

EdSheeransGString · 23/05/2015 21:34

I'm butting in here hope nobody minds Smile

My dd is 2 in June and I'm having huge issues with walking at the moment. She refuses the buggy to the point of throwing herself out, I bought a trike which worked for an hour then she threw herself out, a push along car she can sit in she just threw herself out it... See where I'm going? Grin

She wants to walk everywhere. She is generally very good but does get tired easily (tiny legs) and wants carried. She's 30lb so it's not easy especially in a rush on the school run. I am hoping practice will make perfect but I've borrowed a buggy board to try it before I buy one. I'm praying she will love it because she's started to kick off when I hold the reins. She wants to walk herself which I won't allow yet because she does a runner if I blink

Any other ideas?

PeekABooPinky101 · 23/05/2015 21:53

Loving reading the cute words.

I'm pinkbear by the way, think I quickly came on the last thread and then vanished again.

Dd has this week started saying 'oh dear' and holding her head with it. Unbelievably cute. She has lots of tries with words, not always successful but very cute.

She too can be very stubborn with food and won't have much. Some days everything's a hit, but the next time I try the same foodie can point blank refuse it. She also picks milk over any other liquid. She will have water but milk is like the top choice. Water also has to be had in a proper glass (plastic beaker) it no longer can be in a contained cup. This poses a lot of wet patches on the sofa.

How is everyone getting on with potty training. Dd had a really good period of telling me every time she did a wee, and occasionally asking for the potty. We have now gone full circle where she doesn't ever want her nappy changed but fussy like crazy. The potty is still out and around, and her favourite go to book at the moment is about a kid and his potty.

HungryHorace · 24/05/2015 07:34

Full circle here too, Pinky. Driving me a bit mad.

We also have the potty book and DH does think there's improvement, but he's with her all the time, so I suppose he knows.

Ed, I've no idea. DD is also a buggy refuser unless absolutely knackered. And I bribe her with a nice snack!

Aside from those things I don't really have a clue.

Thankfully reins are ok if we hold them light enough that she thinks she's in control!

Pinkbear! How are you?

PeekABooPinky101 · 24/05/2015 20:13

Hello Bean. All good here. Just bloody awful at helping up with you guys! All good with you?

Can't believe how much as changed when I think back to two years ago. All for the better tho! Grin

Can I ask about poo please.... Sorry to lower the tone. Dd has an awful time with number twos. They seem incredibly large and she really strains to pass them. I have mentioned to GP before and they checked tummy etc and all ok. Got some lactulose from the chemist at a particularly bad time and will use that when things seem to be getting bad. She is ok at drinking, not wonderful, and milk could be on tap and she'd be in heaven but I do try to limit it. Veg and fruit has to be well hidden, but she will have some more days, probably not enough tho.
My mum is quite worried about it, I don't know if it's just dds way, I plan on going back to the GP to highlight it again, but don't know how forceful to be with it.

SunnyL · 24/05/2015 20:26

Hi Pink -good to see your back.

Why do you hide fruit and veg? For us its the one thing she'll definitely eat and i would have thought more fibre rather than less would help your little one poo.

PeekABooPinky101 · 24/05/2015 20:55

She just won't eat it. Unless it's peas or sweet corn. Anything else she will just leave. So lots of veg sauces, casseroles etc and she eats it all fine. I do do meals where it is out and she can see and know what things are, but can guarantee she has a nibble and won't eat the majority.

She will happily sit and eat a pear, and loves raspberries. I do homemade banana smoothies and add other fruit in sometimes. So she is having both.

She has porridge most days for breakfast. To be honest, even if she's had an amazing period of eating really well, it can still be an issue. She can poo every day and then suddenly one day it's trouble. It's not that she goes days without one, she can be very regular. But it's not easy for her.

Mrs81 · 25/05/2015 18:58

So by my reckoning tomorrow is Cup's section date? Very best of luck Thanks I hope it all goes smoothly, there isn't too much waiting around and you're cuddling dc2 before you know it x
