Pink you've had a shit couple of years in many ways. Not sure why you would punish yourself further by going to Boyzone?! Grin

If we are all still chatting in a few years we will have to have a major meet up. Hire a hotel in the midlands or something, somewhere equidistant from everyone!

SunnyL · 28/06/2015 06:58

Well strangely have discovered that the 3 Scots are very close indeed. One of our midst is even living 15 minutes from me - where my parents live. Tis a small small world!

We like to poke and prod bugs too. As the daughter of a zoologist I couldn't be more proud of her when she prods a slug or a spider. But its a good thing our chickens are behind a fence or they'd be too traumatised to lay any eggs.

Ruedewakening · 28/06/2015 07:27

M reckons everything that flies is a bee. And bees are there to be poked, obvs. He poked a bee until it stung him last week, doesn't seem to have put him off though Grin

And how, I'd like to know, do kids stay awake once they've had piriton? I had one dose of it (bastard bee got me, too) and was a zombie for hours!

Mrs81 · 28/06/2015 07:38

It's a crazy small world sometimes! Sunny & Sunbeam - will pm re a meetup.

DS doesn't generally notice bugs (apart from when he handed me half a woodlouse. Yuck. I'm all for curiosity but not chomping on them!)

DS refused his nap yesterday, despite being up since before 6am. He fell asleep at 7 last night. I had high hopes wishful thinking that he would sleep later this am but no, he still sprung to life at 5.55am. I've been up since then...but have yet to spring to life! Time for Brew Brew Brew Brew

Sunbeam18 · 28/06/2015 08:36

We had the birthday party yesterday - great fun and the boy loved it. One of the wonderful results was that he slept until 805am instead of his usual

Sunbeam18 · 28/06/2015 08:36

530am!!

Mrs81 · 28/06/2015 08:48

Glad you had agood party Sunbeam Smile

I've pm-ed you and Sunny. No idea if it works to send 1 message to two people at once. If you haven't got a message then I guess not!

HungryHorace · 28/06/2015 09:09

We've just had an 8.30 lie in after an 8.00 one yesterday. But...we had to suffer 10-10.30pm bedtimes on holiday this week so it's about time we got some sleep there! The fact that DS also slept til 8.30 today makes it the longest lie in for over 2 years. Woo!!

I keep having to tell DD not to poke bees. I don't think it's sinking in yet. Maybe being stung will. But I have my doubts!

And I take Piriton without getting dozy. But I know loads of people have the same reaction as you, Rue.

I don't have a PM, Mrs!

PeekABooPinky101 · 28/06/2015 13:48

Bean, you proper made me laugh with that! I'm going for my friend... I forced her to come to take that with about 4 years ago, this is my pay back! I plan on getting cider to help me through it. Grin

Was scared when on fb at about 9.30 my cousin who is also going said she was in the que already! I don't need to be that close to hear them!

Aloha, you're right, I be in Devon, pretty sure I was the only one this far down and around this way. - hope the morning sickness has eased Aloha.

Dd --demanded-– to use the toilet the other day, all going very well. Put her to bed and asked the next day, resulted in her screaming and saying no. Not sure what the loo did in her dreams....

We sort of rescued and injured owl on Friday. Dd wanted to hold it, but it was injured, so had to survive with a gentle stroke. And for the rest of the day kept saying 'owl'. Sadly the poor thing was too badly hurt for the vet to help, but hopefully meant it wasn't suffering too badly for however long it could have been.

She also knows what a mouse is. The cat helped her learn that early on Blush much to the neighbours amusement she often points at the bin in the garden and says 'mouse bye' - she only caught me putting it in there once. I am more careful now! Grin

Right, I am off to badly sing along to songs I don't know while hoping it doesn't rain, as its out doors.

BeanCalledPickle · 28/06/2015 17:29

I regularly fantasise about lie ins and weekends away without my children! I reckon I can do a Lake District hiking weekend next summer! So long to wait:-)

Went out for the first time without Juno last night. Was good but returned home to find Sean giving her a bottle just as I really needed to feed her. Bad timing!

Haven't really thought about potty training yet. Definitely not with a new baby! My friend was going on about missing the window for it earlier. To which I thought you don't often encounter non toilet trained adults; ' oh yeah that's Bob. He wears nappies because his mother was too busy watching multiple Chicago Fire episodes to toilet train him in the window for it' GrinGrin

HungryHorace · 28/06/2015 21:45

I wonder how long this supposed 'window' is too?! You could miss it by simply not realising it had appeared.

Pinky, DD is very much 'no, no, no' to the loo after previously demanding to go on it too. Overnight here too. She will follow you to the loo as a spectator sport, however. Lovely. :-/

OP posts:
RueDeWakening · 28/06/2015 22:19

I think "the window" is pretty big, tbh. I put off potty training DS1 because I couldn't face the thought of having to clean the carpet so much! He had turned 3 before we started, and that was only because he got a preschool place 3 months early :o otherwise I'd have waited till the weather was a bit warmer and I could keep him outside, rather than start in February.

M shows no signs of potty training yet, not least because he doesn't say many words so we'd have trouble working out what he needs - pointing and crying when I get it wrong is the usual method atm.

Plus the potty, toilet training seat, portapotty etc is all in the garage and I can't remember which box I put it in

Horace, I don't think I've had a wee in private for the last 8 years :o there's always one or other of them hanging around and wanting a chat/cuddle/etc!

BeanCalledPickle · 29/06/2015 07:12

We don't have a downstairs loo. I didn't really think of this as a problem when we bought the house but it is when you think about teaching them! At the moment I have to make a mad dash for it and hope big one doesn't poke small one or arrange them either side of a stair gate.

Up side I don't often have an audience, downside it's going to be a nightmare.

HungryHorace · 29/06/2015 07:29

I don't have an upstairs loo! I think I'd prefer one for night loo visits.

8 years, Rue?! That's a long time!

Oh, 2 year check today. I'll report back on anything interesting / newsworthy I get told (our HV is lovely and helpful!).

OP posts:
BeanCalledPickle · 29/06/2015 09:42

We had a friend who is a speech therapist round for lunch yesterday. Polly rolled out a three syllable word for her audience. Good timing! She said all they look for at two is some simple sentences and fifty to a hundred words. I asked about reinforcing her weird words, for example yogurt is now nak nak. Jane said no problem though when you do that it often means they get a bit frustrated when no one else knows what they want!!

HungryHorace · 29/06/2015 09:55

DD asked 'where are we going?' on her birthday last week. We were impressed by that! I'm not sure she really does many sentences though. But she does have a bigger vocab than 100 words, can count to 10 and can read some words (by memory).

I'm sure she's fine really. And they all develop at different speeds anyway.

OP posts:
BeanCalledPickle · 29/06/2015 09:58

A simple sentence is just 'my bed' or something. Sure you've said she does that?

Have you abandoned ever returning to London now you have two children btw?!

BeanCalledPickle · 29/06/2015 09:59

Oh and Polly can count to thirty. She misses out three to twenty nine thoughSmile

HungryHorace · 29/06/2015 10:05

Ha! That speeds up the process!

Yes, I didn't realise you meant that simple. She definitely does that. :-)

Not abandoned the idea (we are probably coming down for my admissions ceremony at the Law Society). Just need to sort the logistics (i.e. find someone to sit with the kids during the ceremony as 2 hours is too long for them to sit through).

HV is late. Frustrating as DS will need a nap soon.

OP posts:
RueDeWakening · 29/06/2015 10:43

Ha, we have about 30 words and not a single 2 word phrase. HV at his 2 year check said that was fine, and that "all gone" and "bye bye" count as 2 word phrases, even though the questionnaire they sent me specifically says they don't Hmm Last week we did get "more juice" though (pronounced the Michael McIntyre way ).

SALT round here are too busy though - 8 months wait for referral, and then you need to be 12 months delayed on assessment to get any intervention at all, DS1 has twice been assessed as being 11.5 months behind, so gets nothing. Bastards.

BeanCalledPickle · 29/06/2015 11:07

When is your ceremony? I don't know one London based solicitor who bothered with that!

With luck I could probably help you out? Being on maternity leave etc etc. I would also really recommend you try air b n b for somewhere to stay. Much easier than a hotel!

HungryHorace · 29/06/2015 11:43

That's a good idea actually as hotels are just hell on earth!

I just fancied doing it as I doubt I'll ever visit the Law Society again, even though I'm entitled to.

It'll probably be mid-late November. I'd prefer to do it before it gets too manic before Christmas. And if you could help that'd be amazing! :-)

Once I've been admitted they'll send me a list of dates to choose from.

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 29/06/2015 11:55

And that is frustrating, Rue. I've no idea what referral would be like round here, though I think my hairdresser's daughter is maybe being referred and it'd be interesting to know.

The HV said they're both fine and doing what they should be. DD's still 91st for weight but they don't do height for ages now.

DS is 75th weight but only 25th for height...I'm sure he's taller but there you go! She said he looks in proportion. And he's got a year before he's seen again so I'm sure he will grow more before then. :-)
