Mrs, DD ignored all of her soft toys for a very long time. Now she also sleeps in a sea of them, and that isn't an exaggeration! She arranges them just so before every nap and bedtime. We have a video monitor now, and it's fascinating to watch.

I've survived my first couple of days alone with the two of them. It has been better than expected. Though I have my first night alone tonight which I'm not looking forward to.

SunnyL · 24/06/2015 11:33

This is exactly what I need to stop me stealing a baby from some local orphanage.

Keep em coming Grin

PeekABooPinky101 · 24/06/2015 17:36

Since turning two Dd seems to think she now needs a later bedtime Confused so that would be 2/2.5 hours later she's picked. 10pm used to be past my bed time..... On the upside she now sleeps past 6.30.

She has also become obsessed with bubble guppies. She found it on Netflix and I am now fairly sure I can recite season two. And as all overly annoying shoes, there's annoyingly catchy songs.... Grin

Success this morning with announcements of 'wee wee' and doing them on the toilet. We were then out the rest of the day so she's happily forgotten. But hoping a successful wee before. Bed and then maybe tomorrow be a bit more home based and maybe get a flow so to speak of them a bit more toilet based. I don't expect she'll master it quickly, she likes playing too much!

SunnyL · 24/06/2015 17:47

Oh god Pinky -my mum has been looking after Lil the last couple of days. God knows what rubbish she'll have started watching on TV. Free childcare is free childcare so I can't complain - just have to put up with a child shouting Peppa Peppa at the telly Angry

Mrs81 · 24/06/2015 18:34

I think ds thinks the telly shows Sarah & Duck, and nothing else. We have 30-odd episodes recorded and he gets to watch one or two as a treat. He will point to the tv and say 'duck'!

PeekABooPinky101 · 24/06/2015 21:24

Ah Mrs and sunny peppa and Sarah and duck are famous here too. She has a cuddly duck that is well loved!!

Had a peppa pig dvd on this morning, I thought I'd turned it out, got home 3 hours later and it was merrily playing away still. The cats death stare said it all!!

I gave up on bedtime tonight and we went to the beach instead. She loved it and was in bed and settling just before 9. There is silence now. I' taking that as a win!!

Sunbeam18 · 24/06/2015 21:49

Sunny, we had a full-on temper tantrum in Maddie & Marks in Blackhall today (Edinburgh shoe shop for non-Sunny readers). Full works - yelling, pounding of heels while lying flat on floor, crying inconsolably and bashing head on floor. Ok so he didn't like the cute green Converse...
On the plus side, my baby is 2 tomorrow! Cake in the oven as we speak - that's a real CAKE not a baby! Grin

Mrs81 · 24/06/2015 22:56

Happy birthday for tomorrow Sunbeam!

All shoe fitting for ds is done at JL. I love that they don't try to sell us shoes unnecessarily. Their range of shoes for boys in small sizes isn't brilliant though - but maybe it's like that everywhere??

Sunbeam18 · 24/06/2015 23:36

What size is your DS, Mrs? Size 6 here, and seems to have been measuring that size for about 6 months!

Mrs81 · 25/06/2015 06:17

size 4 here. Has been for a while and shows no sign of growing!

SunnyL · 25/06/2015 13:52

We've just gone up to a size 5 after about 10 months at size 4. People warned me her shoes were going to cost a fortune because they grow so fast but I think its been fine.

BeanCalledPickle · 25/06/2015 17:41

We went to JL to do a fitting. No problem there. Trying on shoes however oh no! That won't do. Walk down to sainsburys and so excited about the eight quid trainers she's got her shoes off and those on while we stand there! I'm reasonably happy to indulge an eight quid a pair shoe habit..

cuphat · 26/06/2015 03:32

After the poor service from Clarks last time (said they had no shoes to fit DD's high instep and sent us away) we went straight to Brantano this time (where we had ended up getting her Clarks shoes from!). Great for shoes but wouldn't recommend the measuring service. We'd gone as she'd grown out of her shoes. They measured her as smaller than the shoe size she was in Hmm. Ok, so she didn't like the guy doing it so didn't stay still for long but still! Luckily the measuring thingies are left out so we did it ourselves afterwards. I don't think the widths on them went up to the width that DD had been measured as in Clarks if I remember correctly, which is a bit rubbish.

Anyway, again they had a good range of current Clarks shoes and we were left to browse and try them on ourselves in our time (the shoes are all out, so no need to be asking for sizes etc).

Anyway, she's in 6H now (I think - night feed, I'm half asleep!). She measures 5 1/2 I but we have to size up in length because shoes aren't made in her width. She'd been in her previous shoes for months.

BeanCalledPickle · 26/06/2015 08:30

Have you had a look at the sainsburys little trainers? They are really wide as well. Polly has feet like her mother, essentially square bricks. Juno has long thin feet. They are so never going to share shoes!

Sunbeam18 · 26/06/2015 08:51

Square bricks Grin

HungryHorace · 26/06/2015 11:59

DD has just gone into 7s after months in 6s, so big-footed like her mother!

I'd recommend JL over Clarks for measuring too. And buying from Brantano online once you know the size as there's regular discount codes.

Ours tag team us too, Bean. It can be frustrating, but watching them play together makes it worthwhile!

I'm back and have had a very lovely welcome from the little girl. Before I went I was getting lots of No Mummy No Mummy No Mummy. Today it's been No Daddy No Daddy. Hurrah for being the favoured parent again!

Mrs81 · 26/06/2015 12:25

I love the image of square bricks Grin

DS isn't going to have big feet surely I'm a 3, DH is a 6! (We're both short @ 5'1 & 5'8) so DS will presumably follow in our dainty footsteps Smile

Mrs81 · 26/06/2015 12:26

ooooh, welcome back Sunny! Enjoy being the bee's knees for a while!

BeanCalledPickle · 26/06/2015 12:33

Do you buy proper fitted shoes for them all the time? We've had one 'proper' pair per size but then just mother care or similar for things like snow boots, trainers, jelly shoes etc.

I know their feet are important etc etc but I can't quite cope with twenty quid plus for everything that goes on her feet!

cuphat · 26/06/2015 12:35

No I haven't Bean, and we live close to one too so I will have a look when I make it there next. Thanks for the rec. Grin at square bricks too. Good description for DD's feet. She takes after her dad. He's a 12 but I don't think that's massive in men's sizes (especially for someone his height) so I'm not sure how big her feet will end up. DS takes after me - long thin feet (I'm usually an 8 but most of them fall off) with very long toes.

I've checked DD's shoes. We actually ended up getting 6 1/2H for the best overall fit. I'm pretty sure she measured 5 1/2 in length though.

We can't buy online with DD's feet which is a pain. Same for me with my narrow feet. Useful to know about the online discounts though. I might get her another pair in a different colour if I can get a good price.

Oh no, the bin lorry's here and she's napping. She'll be very disappointed!

cuphat · 26/06/2015 12:37

So far we've just had one pair of proper fitted Grin shoes per size and then some wellies.

'They' go on about proper fitted shoes and then we're sent away with no help so I'm not worrying any more.

cuphat · 26/06/2015 12:46

Also, the difference between sizes at this age is tiny. Just a few millimetres I think (I looked it up when we had all the trouble with finding shoes and then stopped panicking so much).

HungryHorace · 26/06/2015 13:41

No, not measured for all shoes. But yes to one measured pair per size then wellies, trainers, sandals as required etc. And always a reduced in price pair at that!

Welcome back Sunny. We get indiscriminate 'no, no, no, no, no' from DD. It's quite amusing in a way!

Same here - one pair of properly measured expensive shoes per size, and then wellies, sandals etc in cheaper shops.
