Our babies are rocking and rolling, crawling and climbing into the second half of their first year.

Let the fun continue...

lil yep we went to Clarks. They were fab actually as I was clueless. The lady was so nice, and even went and got out some of the new shoes from the back they'd just had delivered to see if I liked them. I did and they were a bargain too.

Lilly I had the same dilemma with yoghurt. I was binning so much natural yoghurt that I've given up and turned to the dark side Petit Filous. If you find an alternative please let me know! Smile

cookielove · 16/06/2015 20:56

I am desperate to buy E shoes that dh is adament he doesn't need them :( his nursery (my work) has a super slippy floor so I think a couple bumps may change his mind!

E pulls at his hair when he is having a bottle but the only hair he has managed to pull out is mine!

lilone1234 · 16/06/2015 21:30

The only little yoghurts I have found without refined sugar are Ella's Kitchen ones (hidden on the top shelf in the yoghurt aisle!). They seemed the best by miles compared to the others. Very few ingredients.

FATEdestiny · 16/06/2015 21:33

Eatscones - I'm not feeling broody, this time I am definitely done. But nothing wrong with thinking about the next one while baby is 9 months. I was pregnant with DC2 when DC1 was 5 months old.

I've been thinking about first shoes just recently. I will probably wait until DD is walking because Clarks do different crawling, cruising and walking shoes. Maybe DC4 will be the first of my children who actually likes to wears shoes (all my children would go barefoot all the time if I let them)

DD has Petit Filous yoghurts but only has a yoghurt probably once every other day. She much prefers fruit (or cake!) for pudding.

Fathers Day next weekend Grin

Any plans?

FATE don't remind me about Father's Day Blush I got the date totally wrong and thought I had another week to sort out Father's Day and our wedding anniversary (same day). Ooops. I'm sure dh will see the funny side...

How have you managed to keep kids un-shod (don't know if that's the term for dcs, or just ponies? Grin ) until walking? I wanted to wait but dd's cruising like mad and I don't want her barefoot in church halls, children's centres, etc.

lil thanks for the tip on yogurts. I'll have to look out for them next week.

Acorncat · 16/06/2015 21:55

I hadn't even thought about shoes! I presumed I'd wait until he was walking properly but hadn't really figured out the logistics of it all. He's not really cruising yet anyway so fine for now. Another thing to research!

FATEdestiny · 16/06/2015 21:57

She's either barefoot or in socks everywhere. I very much doubt shoes would stay on (socks rarely do) anyway. Quite used to filthy feet from community centre floors here.

Cookie - re shoes at nursery. It was a long time ago for me, but when my children were in nursery as toddlers they had to change into slippers at nursery, so shoes were taken off unless outside.

We use Yeo valley natural yogurt which has bio culture; it comes in small portions... I searched a lot for a yogurt which has three conditions and only found these ones 1- natural not low fat 2.bio cultures and 3.small portions.

Yogurt take a very very long time to go bad though...

Nazly · 17/06/2015 00:06

I have decided not to go to Clarks until he actually walks, even though he is cruising everywhere now.
but I bought these shoes a couple of months ago and they are perfect for him; very soft and comfy plus for once he cannot take them off!!! Yeeyyyy! They look lovely too and are quite cheap

From amazon - sorry

holls2000 · 17/06/2015 08:29

lilly i was doing the same re yogurt and now I get the petit filous ones or there's a brand called suckies which are nice, or i get the little yeo ones.

holls2000 · 17/06/2015 08:32

re shoes. I bought some from next two weeks ago and they already don't fit. so am sticking with socks with rubber bits on the bottom and have got him some slipper socks for nursery.

i am feeling really down. worried about money for the next month and worried about going back to work and just generally worried about everything.

LillyBugg · 17/06/2015 11:52

holls sorry to hear you are feeling down :( work is playing on my mind to. It seems that every spare minute I have it creeps in and I worry about nursery. It's the anxious side of me, I find it hard to keep it under control sometimes. Do you want to talk any of it through with us? Hope you are enjoying some time with B in the sunshine. It's definitely a beautiful day here in the SE, not sure where you are though.

Acorncat · 17/06/2015 12:52

I don't suffer from anxiety usually but the thought of going back to work and nursery is keeping me awake at night well actually it's the 2 hourly wake-ups from DS that actually wakes me up but you know what I mean Sad .

holls2000 · 17/06/2015 13:42

i feel really stupid, i think it is the guilt kicking in. Also dh is a bit wobbly about doing the nursery handover. i just cant believe that next week i don't get to spend my days with my little man. I'm a teacher so i get loads of holiday so I know I am being pathetic.

i am also concerned about work, the demands and how i am going to cope with it. Sad

holls2000 · 17/06/2015 13:43

lilly as for weather it is pretty grey, wet and chilly here in Yorkshire!! matches my mood Grin

LillyBugg · 17/06/2015 15:26

It's not pathetic, the free time we all have is relative. Going back to work is a massive step and I'm sure come September you'll be the one reassuring me!

Worrying about coping is completely normal, you must have worried about coping as a parent while you were pregnant and look at what an amazing little boy you have now! What normally helps with your anxiety? I find that trying to be rational and organised can help me (trying is a big word in that sentence). So for example I often panic at night about taking care of DS if I'm poorly. But then I try and think through all my contingency plans if this were to happen turns out it did happen and we all survived relatively unscathed. Have you thought through your new morning /evening routine? Maybe that could help a little. Sorry if I'm being completely useless, I just know how hard anxiety can be and sometimes I just need someone to talk to me about it and tell me it's going to be ok.

At least it's only a few weeks until the summer holidays and you'll be back home with DS before you know it :) living for the school holidays isn't a bad thing! I'm going back to a term time only job in September, when I used to work all year round. I know I'm going to be counting down the weeks and days until the next holiday every time we start a new term!

cookielove · 17/06/2015 16:37

fate it's my nursery, it is in fact my room where j work where E will be attending so I know the shoe policy :)

cookielove · 17/06/2015 16:38

Where I not j Blush

ApplesTheHare · 17/06/2015 17:46

hills it's not stupid. I don't go back until October and I'm absolutely dreading it. I try not to think about it ever as it makes me feel so anxious Sad

FATE I think your community centre is probably nicer than ours. It's an ex miner's welfare hall and half of it's falling down. Not the nicest place but the baby classes are good.

ApplesTheHare · 17/06/2015 17:46

Ugh, holls stupid autocorrect.

IAteSomeofthePies · 17/06/2015 23:36

I hope you feel brighter soon, Holls and everyone else worrying about going back to work. We're just about managing things on a good day, so I guess I can say it will all be ok!

We've not been having a good day here. DS has another vomiting and diarrhoea bug. We've been though multiple changes of bedding and clothes for all of us. Poor little guy. And the worst part is that the doctor said to try to feed him only in small increments, so he is upstairs with DH right now, wailing away because he got cut off after only a short feed. I can't cuddle him because it's like taunting him with the boobs. Sad

jaykay34 · 18/06/2015 09:10

I'm now back at work (just 3 days per week) and despite dreading it and avoiding the place whilst on maternity leave, now I'm back, I love it ! My role has changed slightly (more work for me as my administrator has been made redundant so I now have most of her role) and my office has been refurbished so I've had changes to cope with but it feels very fresh. I am so busy from the 8 hours I am there, that I have no time to think.
I'm even enjoying our home routine...everything's so organised in the mornings. I've even been going for a run in the evenings with my eldest son when J is in bed.
We have really been making the most of the weekends too and doing lots of lovely family things.
J has been at my mum's but will be going to my work nursery for a couple of mornings from August. In-laws have been helping out too. He doesn't mind being left and even waves me goodbye !

Re: Shoes - I'm so glad you are now getting shoes for your babies ! I felt that I was the only mother that does this. J always wears footwear out the house and has done since he was tiny. We are all a bit shoe mad and it's been transferred onto him. What size are your babies feet ? J is a 2.

IAteSomeofthePies · 18/06/2015 11:37

We are mostly socks and bare feet here, since everything else gets pulled off, but these www.polarnopyret.co.uk/moccasins-60017858-151 are now our moccasins of choice. The elastic is fiddly and hard to get on, but seems impossible for DS to work off of his feet. We throw them in the wash when they get grass stained. Perfect!

IAteSomeofthePies · 18/06/2015 11:40

He is a 4 in his Converse and 18/19 in his moccasins.
