Our babies are rocking and rolling, crawling and climbing into the second half of their first year.

Let the fun continue...

I bloody hate hairdressers small talk except when it's gossip about people I know. Hope your hair looks stunning lilone Grin

I love gardening! I don't have anywhere near enough time to 'potter' in the garden as I'd like to, but do enjoy it when I have a project on. But I can see where you are coming from with wanting to pay someone Ella. While I like doing our garden, it takes a looooong time for stuff to get done so if anything needs doing sharpish, I'd pay someone to do it too.

We went to London aquarium today :)

And now we are all shattered!

Nazly · 07/06/2015 20:19

Cookie that's nice, I like the place; not sure if babies enjoy it at this age? Did yours?

Ideas for places babies may like at this age? Ds justvloves to be outdoors, anywhere... But i wonder if there would be places to make him super excited?!

Acorncat · 07/06/2015 21:23

The most exciting place we've been was a waterfall, he was totally transfixed for ages. Doesn't seem bothered by animals yet.

LillyBugg · 07/06/2015 21:30

We went to the zoo yesterday and he was not interested at all. Too little and doesn't know what he's meant to be looking at. I enjoyed it though!

He loved an aquarium we went to even back in February. They had a tunnel which he loved and the tropical fish are so bright he liked watching them.

TeamEponine · 08/06/2015 02:47

Well, sleep has gone totally to shit over the past week. Both naps and night time. After spending and hour and a half trying to settle her she will only sleep with me rubbing her back. I can't do that all bloody night! So I'm leaving her to it and she's currently screaming.

We had worked so hard on sleep, and I thought we'd done so well. Now it's all fucked.

The whole weekend has been screwed up due to totally unpredictable nap times and lengths, so feeling grumpy about that too.

Tomorrow is going to be shit.

TeamEponine · 08/06/2015 08:15

Another fucking cold. I got about two hours sleep last night. Thank goodness for the coffee machine at work!

IAteSomeofthePies · 08/06/2015 10:05

Hugs, Team. The no sleep is soooo much harder when you're needing some brainpower for work.

We are back from Seattle, which was great but busy busy busy. Not much time for MN. It was a work trip for me and my parents watched the baby. All went well and ironically we actually seemed to have a reasonable sleep pattern there. Still waking 2-3x per night, obviously. Let's not be ridiculous. ;) The plane ride back yesterday was long. It's quite a challenge solo with the baby. Eating and peeing especially are tricky! Now for the joys of jet lagged babies...

We have the cheap ikea highchair and love it. Ours wasn't one of the serial numbers that was recalled. We don't bother with the straps anyway, usually, as the bar holds him in place. When he gets more wiggly and can climb out that will change, I guess.

His favourite fruit is apple slices. Gala or red delicious seem mealy to me but are perfect for him. He worries away at it and spits out little pieces of skin. He also loves half a banana and orange sections, but those are less friendly for taking with us. We are starting to have more faith in him not choking, but I didn't give him anything that was a remote choke hazard while we were in the airplane!

holls2000 · 08/06/2015 10:28

team commiserations on the sleep. Sad

a friends baby has chicken pox. b was playing with the baby last week. so now we are playing a waiting game to see if he gets it. Hopefully we will be ok as the nhs website says most infectious 2 days before rash comes and rash came today. keep your fingers crossed for me as selfishly i go back to work in 2 weeks and really need the money so need him not to get ill!!

cookielove · 08/06/2015 12:39

Hello all :)

At the aquarium, E was most interested in the stones and wood surrounding the tanks! But he does love different textures Smile he was slightly interested in the colourful fish and the bright corals but the sharks were not at all interesting to him! And he was knackered when we got to the penguins!

After hearing about the fruit your babies are eating I decided to try again with E (I hate fruit so it's not something I think to buy) so today he had blueberries and grapes, he also refused his jar so had a finger food lunch, which was the first time ever :)

holls2000 · 08/06/2015 12:58

We took b to the zoo when we were on holiday. he was most interested in the rabbits and guinea pig.

he has had half his omelette today plus a yoghurt and is now playing with a rice cake. i assume that he would eat it if hungry. Grin

Topsyloulou · 08/06/2015 20:39

We went to a farm last week. DS is an animal lover so it was great. They have lots of animals you can hold / stroke so he stroked a chick & a guinea pig & we fed the lambs. He was a bit disappointed the bottle of milk was for the lamb & not him tho! Next time I'll put him in the baby carrier so he can see more than in the pushchair.

Nazly · 08/06/2015 21:01

Hello mummies- what are your plans for your LO's first bday? Ours comes in around 10 weeks

Nazly · 08/06/2015 21:02

Topsy I like to try the farm but wasnt sure if it is too early...

holls2000 · 08/06/2015 21:37

nazly we thought we would go to a farm Park for his 1St birthday. dh is taking day off work on the actual day but I will be working so think he may take him to the aquarium or something. And then a day with friends at the weekend.

ApplesTheHare · 09/06/2015 10:13

Wow Nazly 10 weeks is so soon. Reading that made me look at our calendar and DD turns 1 in 12 weeks. 12 WEEKS! It doesn't seem like yesterday I was 12 weeks pregnant... Shock

TeamEponine · 09/06/2015 10:53

Argh! First birthdays. How did that happen so quickly?!? Not even thought about it yet. I'm such a bad mummy!

I'm be inviting the family over and having a childrens tea party, eating cake and blowing out candles with the extended family at home for DD's first birthday.

The fact that it's my birthday the day before (and DC3's birthday 4 days later) makes DDs first birthday nice timing for a family do. Trips to the farm and soft play will come when she's a bit older.

my birthday the day after (not the day before)

memories of being desperate for her to be born before midnight. She arrived 23.30 so only just escaped sharing her birthday with me

DP & I will be at twickenham watching the rugby on DS' birthday, bad parents. It doesn't kick off until 8pm though so we will be with him until 5ish. We are doing a big family tea party on the Friday for DPs side & on the Sunday for my side. Only reason they're separate is inlaws flying back to SA on the Sunday. We'll have a nice day just the three of us before we go to the rugby.

lilone1234 · 09/06/2015 14:29

What a lovely birthday present for you Fate! But shared birthdays are a bit much when she had 364 other days to choose from Wink

First birthdays, oh it makes me want to cry! I'm getting broody again now, and find myself once again looking at newborns longingly! However, baby number two can't be on the agenda until after we move house later this year and get married next June.

For DD's first birthday we'll have a little tea party the following weekend with family, and if DP can get the actual day off we'll have a little outing. Probably interspersed with me crying because she's growing up so fast!

holls2000 · 09/06/2015 15:17

We don't have a big enough house for tea with other babies and my family are abroad and my in laws are going on holiday so we will go out!!
