Bill! Brilliant!

Annarose2014 · 29/07/2015 13:17

DS has reached a milestone today anyway - he discovered his willy.

Take THAT, Bill!!!

Arkkorox · 29/07/2015 13:52

Hahahah Anna not competitive at all!

I'm suprisingly unphased by all these targets dd should be meeting, she will do stuff in her own time. Is diving head first off the sofa one cause we've got that nailed lol.

Strawberryfield12 · 29/07/2015 14:46

Hahaha Anna!

Went to weight DD today and she is on 90th percentile. I knew her weight in kilos but never bothered to look at percentiles. Whenever anybody here talked about growth charts and babies being 90+ I would just think "Gosh, that must be a lot". Here you go, having a monster strawberry... Blush

DD is a really bad attention seeker, she has performed all her portfolio of recently learned skills at HV. She clapped, waved... and she coughed. In June we caught DD finding hilarious people coughing, so it has been for weeks the way to get her giggle. Then she started to cough back and laugh, we thought it was THAT COOL. Until today when she performed coughing at HV. I was mortified that HV would decide that she had some chest problem and we would end up being referred for more checkups. Thank god she never picked up on that one...

haventgotaclue1 · 29/07/2015 19:57

OK, I watched the blog up until 3 minutes, then I couldn't take any more of her... sorry!

So we (DH and I) made the decision to go hardcore sleep training technique tonight. Eeekkkk. After almost 4 weeks of the crying / screaming / reassuring / rocking / BF etc etc, we decided it was time to bite the bullet and go for it. We made an agreement to take it in turns: 30 minutes each - otherwise it just gets too much for one person. So far we've each done one stint...and now it's quiet. THINK / hope she's asleep (rather than just quiet). Wonder if it's all going to kick-off again....if so, it'll be my turn...

Will let you know tomorrow how we got on!

Arkkorox · 29/07/2015 19:59

Eep! Good luck havent

Here's some Wine incase it all goes wrong

Thisisimpossible · 29/07/2015 20:05

Oh brilliant guys! You've all had me giggling my head off Grin thank you! DS is nowhere near doing any of that. After having managed to do two forward crawl moves the other day he hasn't managed to replicate it. All he does is rock backwards and forwards on his hands and knees and cock a leg occasionally which invariably overbalances him, tips him over and results in loud whinging. I blame the dog. Can't think he's learned any of that from me or DP. At least I hope he hasn't.

No clapping or waving either. DP has been in France since Monday on a jolly with his brother and a friend. I've been repeating Mama Mama Mama at DS like a demented idiot in a pathetic attempt to get my own back for being abandoned for three days. It hasn't worked.

Funny how daunting it felt being on my own for 3 days, despite the fact that I do the majority of DS's care anyway. Happy to report we have survived!

Thisisimpossible · 29/07/2015 20:06

Fingers crossed for you havent

TwigletFiend · 29/07/2015 20:42

Hi all, been a few days. Had a bit of a rough patch but all moving forward slowly now. Back to work from next Monday!

Good luck with your sleep training, havent.

Haven't watched the blog but DD has learnt to crawl like a demon, including all the way up the stairs, but no clapping, waving, pointing at all. Now she's mobile she doesn't give a monkeys about that and just wants to move all the time. It's pretty exhausting! She pulls herself up on the furniture too and I have to keep nagging DP not to put stuff where she can get to it, including coins which is a scary thought as they are just right for choking on. Going to read back through and catch up with everyone now!

ladydolly · 29/07/2015 21:31

Same here twiglet, we can hold each others virtual hand on Monday!!

dd's sound similar too, even toys are less interesting now she's cruising round the furniture. We don't have stairs in the flat so that worry isn't there but we exchanged on our new house today!!! Which means we need about 15 stairgates now...

Thisisimpossible · 29/07/2015 22:08

Just watched OBEM as DP is away (he hates it) and now crying my eyes out. The last little baby was born the same day as DS Sad What an amazing couple they were. RIP little Ollie.

Thisisimpossible · 29/07/2015 22:09

Good luck [twiglet] and [ladydolly] for Monday.

Thisisimpossible · 29/07/2015 22:31

And nice to see you again twiglet Smile

haventgotaclue1 · 30/07/2015 06:29

We made it! !!! She slept through from 7.45 - 6.20!!! Woo hoo Grin. The hour of crying / screaming and using the technique was worth it. Am so glad that I didn't give in and pick her up. ...now just have to keep going with it every night and hope last night wasn't just a flash in the pan Smile

Good luck for Monday twiglet and ladydolly

Strawberryfield12 · 30/07/2015 09:23

Good luck with return to work. Makes me think should make the most of the time left before I go back as well...

Strawberryfield12 · 30/07/2015 09:51

Congratulations on exchange ladydolly! By the amount of stairgates it sounds very impressive you are moving in! The day we exchanged on our house I went mental and spent about 12k on furniture, got all my cards blocked by the bank. The first day in the house was nonstop deliveries, started about 8.30am until 5pm. Ah, the sweet memories of moving from small London flat to a big town house outside... Loved that time!

ladydolly · 30/07/2015 11:45

That's great haven't!! Do you feel rested?

strawberry that's exactly the same scenario we have here!! Moving from a flat to a town house (so lots of stairs). We need to recarpet and paint the entire house as well as upgrade some of the furniture. Most of ours is mine from my young, free and single days where I was rarely at home to give a shit about the furniture. Looking around my £100 2nd hand sofa did 8 years, my £80 coffee table did 6 years and I used the side tables it came with as bedside tables. Then theres solid wood dining table I sanded down myself (because dp told me I couldn't do it, I had to prove him wrong) after picking it up in a charity shop for £40. I feel quite nostalgic for all my crap now!!

happypotamus · 30/07/2015 12:14

Great sleeping haven't what technique did you use?
DD did one of her best nights despite it being nowhere near sleeping through. She was put in bed asleep at 8ish, woke up about 15mins later and cuddled back to sleep. I think she woke up at 11ish, was fed and put back in the cot but am actually not sure if that happened or not! It was after 4am when she next woke, and, although I tried, she wasn't going back in the cot that time but slept in bed until 7. Now that sounds rubbish, I'm sure, to other people, but usually DD wakes up every 2hrs if not more often and will not be put down in the cot or even put down in bed next to me. I still spend most of my nights sleeping sitting up holding her to avoid endless crying, so for me to be able to sleep lying down for most of the night is great. DH says we can't let her cry much in the middle of the night because of the neighbour who sleeps on the other side of our bedroom wall. DH claims he can hear the neighbour breathing through the wall (I think that is unlikely) so there is no way DD wouldn't be disturbing.
Good luck at work next week twiglet and ladydolly

haventgotaclue1 · 30/07/2015 12:36

"Do I feel rested?" ladydolly....erm, well, I had 6 hours solid sleep from 10-4 then that was it for me. So I guess 6 hours non-stop isn't bad going, but still bloody annoying that I couldn't get back to sleep again after 4.

Happy we used, and have been using since DD was about 5 months old, the Peekaboo technique from Rebecca Welton's book - think it's called something like "Sleeping Trust Techniques - alternatives to controlled crying". The key now is to keep going with it and being consistent.

Have noticed today that DD is definitely developing her own personality and seeing how far she can push things. We were in M&S (buying 12-18 month vests Blush) when she suddenly, for absolutely no apparent reason, decided it was time to have a mini-meltdown...and then when I was giving her lunch, she went from happy, smiley, isn't-this-fun DD, to full on devil-child! Luckily, both times only required me to blow a few raspberries at her and all was right with the world! But what was that all about?!?

omama · 30/07/2015 14:05

good luck with return to work ladies Smile Smile

havent - glad you had a better night!

dd slept 7.30-6, quick feed then back to sleep til 8am! she's not done that for awhile!

we've very definitely started leap 6 - she's quite fussy which is completely out of character, she's usually such a happy little thing! still nowhere near crawling, but she is clapping, waving & doing kisses & starting to understand a few words. Funny how they're all different eh?!

omama · 30/07/2015 14:11

oh & sorry i know this isnt related to babies but are any of u ladies in london? need a bit of trip planning advice if u can help?

we live about 4 hours away by car & I've never been. want to take ds to legoland, natural history museum & possibly to watch lion king (only if its ok to take baby in to a daytime showing? or is that a big no noConfused ?). maybe do some sight seeing too. not sure how may nights we'd need to stay to do all that or where is a good place to stay so we can get to those places easily? a friend mentioned slough but dont know how quick/easy it is to get to where we want to go.

haventgotaclue1 · 30/07/2015 14:36

OMG!!! DD now been asleep for precisely 2 hours and 35 minutes!!! Shock This is absolutely unheard of...I've just had to go up and check she's still breathing! (she is Wink)

haventgotaclue1 · 30/07/2015 14:37

And sorry, omama, can't help you - not in London...

Strawberryfield12 · 30/07/2015 15:22

Omama I assume that the Legoland is the one in Windsor? Then Slough is not far, especially with the car. Although I dont think it is the nicest of the places (office buildings etc). At least in London Camden borough you can park free of charge on the street from 1pm Saturday to Monday morning 6am (or so). So you could stay somewhere near or in Windsor and then come to London for Saturday or Sunday for museums, park somewhere nice like Primrose hill, Belsize Park or Hampstead and take a tube to Kensington for museums and on a way back climb on Primrose hill to have a beautiful view of the whole of London? Maybe somebody know other, closer to your museums areas for parking for free on weekend? Possibly the same rule is for all boroughs? Not too sure about the musical and baby, haven't taken DD anywhere cultural yet. Maybe give a ring to the theater?

happypotamus · 30/07/2015 15:47

haven't must be the day for it. My DD has also been asleep for about 2hrs30, which has happened maybe once or twice before. She has woken up and cried for a few minutes a couple of times but gone back to sleep. Her head is on my lap but I'm not actually holding her which is good-going for us.
