Hmmm, well tonight isn't any better than last night Sad. Put into bed at 6.30 & as soon as her back touched the mattress the screaming started. She's still going strong now and not had any sleep at all yet SadSad. Really don't have any idea what we can do. ..so far she's had both calpol and neurofen (with the appropriate time gap); baby bonjela rubbed on her gums; snuffle babe on her chest and nasal spray. Dh is trying to reassure her now but all I can hear is screaming.

Don't get it as she's been yawning loads and as soon as we take her out of the bed she calms right down. Have bf her again in the hope that would make her sleepy, but no chance. Tried her in our bed but she just thrashes her arms and legs around. Can't believe someone so small has that much energy - we're shattered. ..

ladydolly · 18/07/2015 08:03

Poorly peeps all round! Hope you're feeling better omama.

haven't too late now but wasn't a sneaky bit of stubbourn wind was it?

Another good night here! Feed and put down drowsy. Just one wake up (one! unheard of!!) at 2.30. But unfortunately up for the day at 5.15... I got her back to sleep twice but only lasted 10 mins so guess she really was done.

happypotamus · 18/07/2015 08:56

mrsA the meals DH and I have had after DC have gone to bed this week have been either after 9pm or eaten seperately in shifts as both have been terrible at going to sleep :(
On the more positive side, DH bathed them one day this week (second time ever). Yesterday he got up with them in the morning (about the 4th time ever) and I slept in until 9, which should have been great but I actually felt more grumpy and miserable and out of sorts. Obviously I am not used to sleep anymore Confused
Still no teeth but hard hard gums that already hurt me when feeding.
Back to work mid September. Not looking forward to whole days without seeing DDs (I leave home before they wake up and get back after bedtime), don't know how I will manage 13hr shifts on so little sleep or how baby who wakes up every couple of hours and feeds back to sleep will manage when I work night shifts (or how DH will cope with that as he says he doesn't want to co-sleep).
Yesterday was DD1's graduation from pre-school (who knew that was a thing?). One month until DD2 starts nursery and 2 months until DD1 starts school. They are both growing up fast.

haventgotaclue1 · 18/07/2015 12:36

Don't think so Ladydolly, she eventually went to sleep at 10pm; woke screaming around 11 but quickly back to sleep until around 5.30.... Has had an hour's nap this morning and just been put to bed for another... Amazingly, she's really chirrpy and cheerful throughout the day - just has a complete fit at bedtime. Am prepared for another long evening (and eating our dinner in shifts!).

Annarose2014 · 18/07/2015 13:01

Well they say that when we make plans, God laughs!

After a couple of sleep throughs, and deciding to leave DS with DH for the night so I could go out.......we've had two terrible nights! Wake ups literally every hour. No reason for it - theres still not the slightest feel of a tooth.

Could it be teething even though I cant see or feel anything?

haventgotaclue1 · 18/07/2015 16:06

Apparently so Anna - we've had teething signs for literally months (dribbling, rosy cheeks, gumming on everything, vinegar-smelling nappies. ..) & yet still nothing. I've been told that the teeth can be moving around under the gums for ages before they decide to put in an appearance. ...

Annarose2014 · 18/07/2015 16:22

I just pray he'll be ok for DH tonight. Well I'm still going, false lashes, Sally Hansen on legs and Spanx packed!

omama · 18/07/2015 19:41

havent - how many naps does she usually have per day? she doesnt nap at around 4pm still does she?

just wondering as dd hashad 2 decent naps today, 1.5hrs this morning & same this avo, getting up at 3.45pm. she is going nuts now i've put her to bed, despite her giving the usual tired signs I dont think she's quite tired enough. She seems to fare best with one long & one very short nap & definitely not sleeping past 3pm.

haventgotaclue1 · 18/07/2015 20:51

Omama, no, for the last couple of weeks she's gone down to 2 naps a day: one after breakfast and one after lunch. Until the beginning of the week, they were both a decent length as well (sometimes up to 1.5 hours in the morning and up to 2 hours early pm). The last few days they've been pretty rubbish (1 hour this morning and 20 mins this pm), and even when she shows all the tired signs, it can still take a while for her to nap.

This evening as been better (touch wood - bet I've jinxed it now Confused)...put to bed at 6.30; she managed about 15 mins before crying started; DH and I had dinner in shifts whilst trying to clam her down. Figured out that she was probably scared as was crying so much, her nose was pouring (also due to cold) and she couldn't breathe and suck her thumb at the same time. Took her out of cot bed and sat with her on the rocking chair which calmed her down (maybe as upright?); I BF her and she was able to breathe through nose whilst feeding. Did a couple of big yawns, so at 8pm I felt brave and put her back in bed....so far, so good! Really need a decent night tonight as I'm going down with her cold and feel shattered.

Hello all we have been away to a haven site for a week booked the summer house which is second most expensive caravan available and bloody travel cot only fit in the lounge/diner/kitchen area we moaned as thought van was bigger nowhere did it say travel cot won't fit in bedrooms especially as we hired from them they eventually agreed to take a bed out the twin room so boys shared which was ok baby still up twice a night but didn't wake ds1. After an awful first night of baby in kitchen area!!

The travel cot 1 was filthy I antibacterial washed it popped base thing in and few inches too short call the reception and ask for clean one with a base that fits a new one comes damp as obv just wet wiped it n base fits, still needs anti bac though. Then I move onto highchair gosh do people really leave things so filthy equally the haven people should clean them so if hiring baby equipment take your anti bac!!

That was all after them not even being in caravan on arrival as they deliver up til 6pm!!

Anyway despite the above we made the best of it and had lovely week only one day of rain.

Don't think we are caravan people though although perhaps if we book a 3 bed next time will be better

happypotamus · 19/07/2015 19:51

DD2 seems to have really stretchy arms ! I keep putting her down on the floor away from hazards (DD1's toys, trailing wires etc), turn around and, despite not being able to crawl, she manages to reach them. Baby-proofing is going to be much more difficult second time round because DD1 constantly leaves small toys, cut up pieces of paper, bits of plastic tat scattered around the house. DD2 is also desperately trying to pull herself up to standing too. Having perfected waving and clapping, she is looking for a new trick!!

MrsAukerman · 19/07/2015 21:13

Ds can pull himself from sitting to standing! He can very nearly crawl too but thankfully can't sit from lying down.
We've had 2 nights of 1 wake up and he went down seriously easily tonight. He's either coming down with something or he's turned a corner sleep-wise.

Really hope it's the latter MrsA Smile

Thought we were in for another evening of screaming and crying last night as it started off just like the previous 4 evenings. ...then at 7.10 it suddenly went quiet on the monitor and dh came downstairs looking as pleased as punch. ...dd had been screaming and he just blew on her face which made her stop and take a breath. Apparently she then put her thumb in her mouth, rolled onto her side and fell straight to sleep! !!! She then slept for a solid 11 hours! !!! ShockShock

Will definitely be trying the face blowing again!

MrsAukerman · 20/07/2015 09:36

Middling night after the strangely easy bedtime. 3 wake ups I think. 6am start. I think if he'd gone to bed as normal (both boobs) then we wouldn't have had the first wake up.
Eggs as part of dinner were a common factor the 2 good nights so I'm going for that again tonight.

What do you all do when you're ill? I've come down with a filthy cold and am too shattered to do anything much. Besides, its a horrible day so I can't even put him in the garden. He's got his stacking cups in front of Peppa Pig at the mo, but I can't do that all day!

Ideas please for some way of entertaining him whilst moving about as little as possible???

MrsAukerman · 20/07/2015 13:13

Jumperoo, baby jail, highchair, nap. Repeat.

haventgotaclue1 · 20/07/2015 15:20

Know how you feel Anna - I have also got a stinking cold and sore throat (hence excuse for the ice cream I've just eaten) & feel generally knackered. Love MrsA's suggestion...reckon I can manage that Wink

Arkkorox · 20/07/2015 16:59

Oh girls have some Cake and Brew I hope you feel better soon.

I've just officaly quit my job. Aah!

haventgotaclue1 · 20/07/2015 19:48

Oooooo! Congratulations Ark Grin

Am really hoping that DD has a "good" evening tonight...can't handle another screaming session with the stinking cold and sore throat Sad. So far, we've had to go up 3 separate times since 6.30, but (TOUCH WOOD), it hasn't reached the heights of the last few nights and at the moment, it's all quiet....

Arkkorox · 20/07/2015 19:52

Dd is currently stomping all over DP and squealing Hmm

I'm sure she should be asleep!

ladydolly · 20/07/2015 21:24

How good did it feel ark??

After 3 good nights including one in the travel cot dd has been up 4 times since 6.30. dp in there now.

Feeling all brave I went to a party 2 hours away yesterday with just dd and left dp at home, then stayed at a friends house. It was haaaaaard work. Friend was not helpful, venue floor meant I couldn't use the pushchair or put baby down and friends house very far from childproof and I couldn't stop friends dog from licking her head to toe. Am exhausted.

Arkkorox · 20/07/2015 21:43

It's still a bit scary at the moment. Im very stressed about money and actually things I don't need to be stressed about but hey ho!

Annarose2014 · 20/07/2015 23:53

Oh ladydolly I kindof know what you mean - I stayed over on my own at a friends for a party 3 hrs away and they could not understand why I was leaving at 9.30am.

"But we only got in at 3am, how can you leave so early?"
"Well have some breakfast at least"
"Oh for goodness sake, sit down and have a cup of tea before you go!"

In vain I tried to explain that a) I wasn't hungry, b) I had a bottle of coke in the car, and c) as it was it'd be almost noon before I got home and DH had been with the baby all night and all the previous evening and would be v tired. So I could hardly justify dawdling for another hour having a fry up.

I suddenly find myself turned into that person I previously despised: The Mum who Thinks People Without Kids Just Dont Understand.

Annarose2014 · 20/07/2015 23:54

Btw, I had a filthy fucking fantastic drive-thru on the way home don't worry!

ladydolly · 21/07/2015 07:11

I didn't even get offered any breakfast!! Since she had a coffee and a fag which used to be my breakfast of choice in the old days too....
