We had exactly the same thing ladydolly - DD seemed to be asleep as eyes closed, but the scream was ear-splitting Sad. Didn't have the ear rubbing or mouth thing (that I could see - was too dark in her room to see very much) and luckily, after saying the sleep-associated words (as per the sleep training technique we're following), she put her thumb in her mouth and that was it. But like you, I've never heard her scream like that before...was wondering if it was a nightmare???... Thing is, it's happened every night for the last week and a half at around the same time.

ladydolly · 15/07/2015 09:07

My first thought was nightmare too, I felt so helpless!!

Annarose2014 · 15/07/2015 10:02

Last night DS slept from 6.45pm to 7am. I didn't have to go into him once. I kept neurotically looking at him in the monitor and he'd half waken, find his dummy, and pop it back in. First night he's managed it every single time (we've had it pinned to the front of his grobag for weeks). I suspect he hadn't the dexterity/spstial awareness till now, and this magic growth spurt.

I'm quite emotional about it. He was a "poor sleeper" for so long that I really feared this day would never come. I'm ridiculously grateful.

I know it'll all go to pot when he cuts his first tooth but I hope I never forget this feeling. Just pure 100% relief!

I could kiss that dummy, I really could. Despite my misgivings, eventually it came up trumps.

Strawberryfield12 · 15/07/2015 10:06

Congratulations anna!

Greenstone · 15/07/2015 11:04

Anna that is fantastic! It's great to know now that he can do it because he has done it :) :)

Well, shocker of a night here after a decent one the night before. Just moaning and unsettled all night. Every time I closed my eyes she would start again. It's got to be teeth right? Feeling pretty grim this morning Brew

haventgotaclue1 · 15/07/2015 12:28

Yay Anna - that's great news Grin

Greenstone, hope you've managed to get loads of coffee down you...

So far in the 31st minute of trying to get DD to have a nap...last time she woke up in was 8.30am, so she MUST be tired by now, right???...Except she doesn't appear to be and is playing this game of rolling onto her tummy and screaming out cos she can't roll back yet; and then when I go in to turn her over, she laughs at me...(is a lovely, cute laugh and smile, but right now I'd rather she slept...)

haventgotaclue1 · 15/07/2015 13:30

Oh ladydolly, meant to say that I got DD weighed today...10.25kg / 22lb 9oz Shock!!! But, as she's following the 98th centile and has been there or thereabouts since she was born, the HV was happy with it. When I told her what, how much and how often I was feeding her, she said it all sounded perfectly fine! So I guess we just keep going and once she becomes more mobile, she'll start to really need the energy Grin

Something that I'd like to do is eat with DD so that it's not just her eating on her own. Whilst this is pretty easy for breakfast, I'm finding it hard for lunch (she eating around 11.20 / 11.30 as otherwise she gets too tired) and impossible for tea, which she has around 3.45 / 4. I guess as she gets older, the times will change and it will be easier...

Arkkorox · 15/07/2015 21:06

Attempt 3 at posting this....

Better night from Dd last night wih just the one wake up and an hour of pissing around in her cot

She seems to have reflux and it's really bloody scary, I think it's cause she's producing/swallowing so much saliva she's struggling to keep it all down. She had a episode where for 10 seconds or so she couldn't breathe, arms and legs flailing everywhere and when she finaly sorted herself out she was so upset. Both of us ended up in tears. Longest 10 seconds of my life!

But she's been generally happy now the two teeth have cut so hopefully that will be it for a little bit and everything can settle down again. We went for lunch with my mum today and the waiter kept talking to her in fluent French, she was fluttering her eyelashes and cooing at him the little flirt!

Arkkorox · 16/07/2015 19:09

I killed the thread! Shock

Strawberryfield12 · 16/07/2015 19:31

Yes you did! Smile I checked it an hour ago and was surprised how quiet the day has been!
Tonight DH is arriving for a looong weekend before we all go back home. I wonder how DD will react tomorrow morning seeing him appear again after 3 weeks. She hasnt been indifferent when she heard him talk on Skype, so I hope it will be a happy reunion without her looking at DH like a stranger.

Arkkorox · 16/07/2015 20:09

THANK GOD strawberry you've saved me from thread murder.

Will be interesting how your dd reacts to your DH, I find it facinating how they remember people now. Dd hasn't seen my sister for a couple of weeks but was full of smiles today for her.

ladydolly · 16/07/2015 20:26

Good news then haven't!! Babydolly has eaten a little bit less recently with her teething. This 4th one is a little bastard. Just CUT ffs!!

Day at the local paddling pool and splash park. It was totally lush and I am now more than ever dreading my return to work!!

omama · 16/07/2015 20:34

Yay Anna - was last night a sleep through too? We've had a few nights with no feed, but never had one without a wakeup of some sort - I really look forward to that!

Ladydolly - ugh work Sad Sad. Last time it dragged & I was so ready to go back but this time its flying by & I dont want it to! Got til December but I know it'll go quickly. When does everyone else go back? or has anyone decided to be a stay at home mum?

DS has his last day in reception tomorrow - can't believe he's already done a full year of school - he's growing up too fast sob sob.

ladydolly · 16/07/2015 21:28

I've only got 2 weeks left. I'd happily be a sahm but not an option. We'll try for another at Xmas so hopefully not too long until I'm off again (and I'll take a whole year next time!!)

Arkkorox · 16/07/2015 21:33

I left my job a month ago. They couldn't be as flexible as I needed ( which I knew they wouldn't be able too) and we just can't afford to put dd into childcare, we would be £17 better off a month. Hardly worth it really so I'll be home with her. Part of me is having a panic about not working but the other half is so excited that I can look after her full time. I'll also be having my friends little boy when she goes back to work 2 days a week.

Arkkorox · 16/07/2015 21:34

Also ladies ideas to help poos please, we are on day 3 with no poo from dd. Prunes? Water doesn't help, she's never done this before!

ladydolly · 16/07/2015 22:22

All the 'p's ark!!! peaches, prunes, plums etc :) stone fruit in general I think.

Arkkorox · 16/07/2015 22:44

She's had peaches and nectarines every day Confused

Prunes it is!

Annarose2014 · 16/07/2015 23:12

omama he did sleep through....but then woke at 6. I'm still not complaining though!

I'm attending a party on Sat & staying over cos of distance. DH is very relaxed about being on his own all night cos of the new sleeping pattern and I'm so excited! I get to wear a baggy dress and dangly earrings!! Its my first girlie night out since he was born I think. saddo

I've joined an agency and will be going back to work in a week or so. But I'm choosing to only work one day a week starting off so I'm not too daunted. Quite looking forward to getting my brain in gear actually. DH is going to work from home that day.

Also.....we're not exactly TTC but we're not doing anything to prevent it either. We'd like to conceive before Christmas though as it'd be great having a warm weather baby next time!

haventgotaclue1 · 17/07/2015 08:52

OMG. Night from hell (compared to what we've been lucky enough to get used to...). Into bed at 6.30. Slept (due to dose of Calpol?) until 7.30. Crying / screaming until picked up and cuddled from 7.30 through to 10.30. As soon as we put her back into bed, the crying started again. Slept from 10.30 - 11.15. Screamed. Reassured back to sleep until around midnight. Reassured back to sleep around 12.30. Woke up at 5.30. Got up around 6.15. Currently having first nap of the day.... I'm really not used to this and found I was at my wits end as to what to do last night when she just would not / could not sleep Sad. Really think it's this leap 6 has a lot to answer for....reckon her brain is so active and stimulated, the poor thing just gets over-loaded. Didn't help that she only napped for 2 x 30 mins yesterday and is now full of cold (AGAIN)....

Really hope napping improves - it's gone to pot for the last week or so. She just gets so over-tired and yet won't nap unless it's the after breakfast one or after lunch one.... Only another 23 days left.....

(Sorry, moan over Smile)

haventgotaclue1 · 17/07/2015 08:57

Just re-read my post....doesn't make too much sense really Confused - just goes to show how knackered I am - sorry!

ladydolly · 17/07/2015 09:03

Urgh. Maybe this is just the fussy beginning stage though haven't and it'll get easier? Maybe it was nightmares?

We had a relatively good night. She didn't seem tired so we didn't put her down until gone 7 when I fed her but she didn't get drowsy but kept sitting up I popped her in her cot to calm down and didn't hear a peep out of her until 12.30! Even when she has settled herself I've put her down drowsy or she whinged for a bit. I wonder if it was the extra long chill out time before bed? Anyway she only had the 12.30 feed and 3 ish and both times straight back to sleep until 6.10. For us this is a BRILLIANT night!! of course I still feel knackered but amazing progress.

Arkkorox · 17/07/2015 09:40

havent that is a rubbish night, I hope she settles better tonight so you feel more human tomorrow.

ladydolly similar night here, feeds at 12:30 and 3:30 then didn't wake up till 8 but she's rubbing her eyes and making her tired noises so may try and pop her down for a nap when she's done feeding her breakfast to the dog

MrsAukerman · 17/07/2015 12:29

Bad start to the night with him not wanting to be transferred to the cot. Dinner was at about 9 due to this!

He then slept til just gone 2. This is an awesome stretch for him. I sincerely hope he gets the hang of longer stretches soon. A full night must be bliss!

omama · 17/07/2015 18:55

oh poor you havent. hope she's napped a bit today for you to catch up. You say she's full of cold - sounds to me like this is probably whats to blame rather than leap 6. Hope tonight is better for you.

I've been to docs today as got the most horrible bout of tonsilitis I've had in a long time. it completely floored me Tue/Wed, felt a bit better yesterday but gone downhill again today & its all in my ears. Havent eaten much besides melon for most of the week as too painful to swallow. Hoping ab's kick in soon!

thankfully dd & ds are so far (touch a lot of wood) ok.
