Hi all, lovely to catch up.

Anna, glad your mum is settling in well. Definitely get your dancing shoes on next time you visit and oblige the gentleman, you'll make hi day clearly! Grin

havent, DD has had a tiny bit of ice cream, rice pudding with fruit in, semolina and custard as well as more usual yoghurt for sweet stuff.

Ark, yay for a tooth! Maybe it was it made a sympathy appearance to make sure you weren't the only one suffering jaw pain?!

lady, sleep training commencing here too but decided to wait until it cools down a bit as I want it to be the least stressful experience it can be, under the circumstances.

Greenstone, DD always gets a cats bum face over weight. Visited a friend whose DS is a week older than DD. He weighs just over 20lbs. DD scraped in at 14.05lbs last week. But she's happy and energetic and moving around a lot so I am refusing to worry about it!

Got back from a short break with DD and DM yesterday. I felt horrible but I just needed to get away from everything at home for a couple of days. Everything was getting a bit on top of me. It was so so nice to not be the only one looking after DD all day every day. Just DM doing the odd nappy change and a couple of bath times made me realise how little DP does of the baby care when we are at home. No wonder I was feeling frazzled. I need to have a sit down with him and try and sort something out, because I am struggling at the moment and it's only a month until I go back to work. I am not looking forward to that conversation, but something

TwigletFiend · 03/07/2015 11:32

Whoops!

...has got to give or we are going to hit breaking point pretty fast. DD going through a difficult stage at the moment, still up three or four times a night and having been eating really well, suddenly she's refusing everything but fruit and super smooth purée or toast fingers. I am trying to tell myself it's just a phase and I don't need to get frustrated but when you're tired things seem so much more difficult!

Right, whinge over now sorry. Scorching here again today, trying to settle DD for a nap (first one of the day, pants pants pants) and she's in just a nappy but she's so hot every time she settles down she drops off, gets sweaty then starts to moan after five or ten minutes. Never thought I'd see the day in the UK!!

MrsAukerman · 03/07/2015 18:27

Crap day for naps but I've managed to just relax about it. 2 x 45 mins. We've done 5.30 bath then bed rather than 6.00. He's asleep in the cot already!

Food intake has gone up massively.
Breakfast was toast
Lunch waa pasta pesto and babycorn
Dinner was cheese omelette fingers with boiled new potato and carrot followed by prune puree stirred into Greek yogurt
Immediately before bath half a weetabix.

We're quite reliably on 4 wake ups which sounds bad but we cope with OK actually. He's learnt to settle to sleep off boob for naps and bedtime so hopefully will translate that to night wakings soon.

ok I just tried sleep training and lasted about 10 minutes before I was sobbing for dp to take over. Peekaboo just seemed to really upset her, I couldn't take it. So dp stood in sight of the cot saying the sleep cues over and over until she fell asleep. That's still an improvement so I guess we're doing a version of gradual retreat instead!!

ladydolly · 03/07/2015 19:44

Although I'm about to smack dp one because he keeps saying how great he is for getting her to sleep which makes me feel like a massive failure even though I've told him how upsetting this was for me.

He then went on to say he didn't realise what he did was a legitimate technique and why didn't we choose that one from the beginning.... of course if he'd spent hours reading books and the internet on how to get her to sleep, like I have, then he would have effing heard of it. twat. Angry

Strawberryfield12 · 03/07/2015 21:07

So it's a week since DD is in my mums "bread", she has started properly eat loads of stuff and I can feel how much heavier she has become even without weighing. I start to worry how it will be to carry her around in baby carrier.

Straight after the 1st tooth the 2nd next cut through 2 days later. She still likes to bite my fingers, but now it leaves the bite marks and hurts like hell. Sad

DD is 7 months tomorrow. Where the time has gone?!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/07/2015 03:51

Greenstone everywhere has doughnut peach on offer at mo 55p for 4 in asda and around 69p Tesco and aldi for 5/6 and we are getting through loads with the 2 Boys ds2 loves them but not keen on normal peach.

Thunderstorm woke me up and obv unsettled baby as awake feeding now

Arkkorox · 04/07/2015 08:18

twiglet I was in the exact same boat as you are with dp doing fuck all. Thankfully I had a tough love chat with him and he seems to have gotten out of his slump and is taking dd and sorting her first thing/doing breakfast while I lie in/have a shower/be on my own for an hour or so at least. Even just that makes a huge difference. I hope you can sort it out before it really starts to affect your relationship cause I know it's really crap.

Annarose2014 · 04/07/2015 10:10

OK the wriggling is getting Out Of Control!

He's discovered there's a design on the changing mat, so every time I plonk him on it, its immediately a gymnastic belly flop on his front to examine it. Then he has to turn in a 360 circle to examine all the edges. All the while i'm wrestling with his nappy.

How I managed to not get poo all over the carpet just now is a miracle. But it was pretty fraught!

Worse, the old standby of giving him the baby wipes is beginning to pall a bit. He gets bored with them after just a minute now. Which means I have only that long to sort out the pootastrophe before he flops on his front again!

Arkkorox · 04/07/2015 12:21

Sorry anna but that's really made me laugh!!! Cheeky monkey.

Dd has no interest in being on her front whatsoever so I highly doubt she's going to actually bother with crawling.
Teeth are still bugging her but Bonjela teething gel straight from the fridge seems to help a bit.

MrsAukerman · 04/07/2015 14:51

Changing tip- sit at 90 degrees from child with your thigh across their tummy/ chest. They can't escape and normally tolerate it if you're quick.

Weirdness here. Babydolly has 3 bottom teeth and no top ones. The insisors aren't supposed to come until after the top 4. She's going to look reeeeally odd for a bit.

omama · 04/07/2015 18:43

hi everyone. Smile havent had much chance to post in last week or 2 so going to have to read back a few pages to catch up!

ladydolly exact same thing happened here with teeth. About 2 weeks ago dd cut her 3rd bottom tooth - I also thought she'd look funny but actually she's very quickly cut the top 4 (lateral about a week ago, central yesterday & today). Bottom right one is on its way so in the next couple of days she'll have 8 teeth! how did that happen already?!

Nights have been a bit rough as a result & heat not helped either. We've finally put her in her own room as it was too hot in ours, am missing her a little & going up/down stairs to her is a bit of a pain. I'm sleeping in a chair next to her cot for at least 2-3 hours each night - will be glad when this bout of teething is finished!!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/07/2015 20:26

We have no actual teeth yet just the shittyness of teething for what seems like forever.

Baby has decided breakfast of weetabix and porridge is not for him and something cooked is much preferred he had mushroom omelette this morning and was v pleased, lunch was bits at a party so egg sandwich, cucumber doughnut peach and some oaty dessert out of a pot. Dinner was fish pie plus some twisty pasta and beetroot.

He does this excited noise if he likes something he has to eat.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/07/2015 20:27

Ohhh and just ordered him a smart trike on Amazon as half price at mo £42 bargain

TwigletFiend · 04/07/2015 20:50

Thanks Ark

Had to drop the cot again today as she has learnt to stand up! And now I can't leave her two minutes because she crawls over to the furniture and then pulls herself up to standing, gets ambitious and tries to walk and flops over! She cries every time but I think it's just the shock of the fall as we have mostly carpet. She has banged her head twice doing it in the cot though Confused

No teeth here yet. She's got a sore bum at the moment though and I don't think it is nappy related, so wondering if she might be starting to teethe for the third time and I've been wrong every time so far.

ladydolly · 04/07/2015 21:25

Glad she's not the only one then! She's had a bit o a sore bum but definitely less out of sorts than she was with the 1st one.

Sleep training continues. 2 naps in the buggy, last one I rocked her to drowsy and then put her down. Bedtime was tough, took an hour of singing amd stroking but eventually had to rock to sleep but at least we've stopped feeding to sleep.

Made these for dd today, used maple syrup instead of sugar and skipped the seeds. www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/sunshine_muffins_52272

haventgotaclue1 · 04/07/2015 21:30

Hope the sleep training was / is better tonight Ladydolly - I was like you when we did started using the peekaboo technique - bawled my eyes out and wanted to stop after 10 mins...DH had to continue whilst I calmed down.

Strawberry, same here: DD has suddenly found an appetite and is eating anything and everything I put in front of her! It's a bit of a shock to be honest...only thing that's not been very popular is Weetabix, but am going to keep offering it to her every few days cos it's so easy to get ready Also really pleased that she's now happily drinking water from a free-flowing beaker.
Food intake today: breakfast - porridge with mashed pear followed by pear slices and about 2 inches of a banana mashed up. Lunch - cod, peas and potato with fromage frais and half a peach. Tea - beef casserole type thing (braised steak, leek, sweet potato, mushrooms) and 2 cucumber sticks.

Anna that made be laugh Grin - have the same thing going on here. DD has just realised there are animals on her changing mat and she insists on twisting round to study them..like you say, makes it really tricky to get the nappies changed!

OK, so DD just turned 7 months and feels like she's been teething for 7 months - realistically it's about 3-4 months - and STILL NO SIGN OF ANYTHING Hmm. She's gumming on everything and anything including me when I'm bf her and t's bloody painful....

Annarose2014 · 04/07/2015 22:40

No sign of any teeth here either!

Strawberryfield12 · 05/07/2015 07:01

havent no love for wetabix here either, I joke that it's my gene showing as I am not too keen on it either. The new thing is her drinking water from the sports bottle, probably bcs she saw me doing it, so had to give it a go also. Good it's hot as the bottle drinking results in her front being completely wet.

She has been very keen on dummy since her 2 teeth came through, she never had a thing for dummies and now it's a favourite. Not too happy about it.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 05/07/2015 19:32

Yeah totally off weetabix here tolerated some porridge this morning.

I accidentally caught his fat tummy in high chair clip ouchy ouch must hurt he screamed (been in just nappy due to heat) bit of germolene and some boob and was fine I felt so guilty.

Went to messy church this afternoon and they used to do tea and sandwiches but now do a basic hot meal so had chicken nuggets (proper chunky chicken breast) New potatoes and peas even baby tucked in prob ate whole nugget, teaspoon peas and 1/4 of baby potato plus he had a 1/4 of a grated cucumber sandwich I had made him on a warburtons thins. (We avoid bread unless toasted as he has a high palate and bread goes claggy and gets stuck in roof of the mouth)

haventgotaclue1 · 05/07/2015 19:59

Ouch eastmids, but obviously his appetite wasn't dented at all Wink.

Having said DD doesn't like Weetabix, I tried again this morning and she polished off half of one crumbled up with lots of milk so it was more of a soggy mess tbh. Still, it's more than she's eaten of one before.

Am wondering how much she can eat and whether she actually knows when to stop. For tea she had 4 ice-cubes of various vegetable purees mixed with a desert spoon of pasta stars; half a peach and a pot of fromage frais. 45 mins later she then BF for her normal length of time.... Now I know she's not skinny (98th centile and weighing almost 10kgs), but still.....Hmm

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/07/2015 04:10

Haven't my baby was like that with food but in past couple weeks has found the off switch and does a really good mouth clamp when done he too is 98th centile

haventgotaclue1 · 06/07/2015 05:32

Oh that's reassuring to know eastmids, thanks! I was beginning to get a little nervous that she'd just continue to eat as long as there was food in front of her. ...

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/07/2015 10:26

Although a little frustrating after I brought bigger pots and batched cooked bigger portions!!
