Morning all! A shiny new thread for Easter.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, I'm off to eat copious amounts of chocolate whilst hiding in the floor of the nursery with Ewan the sheep Easter Grin

Oh bugger Munday, hope the rest of your day improved after your early start yesterday, H also had an early start today but is resisting naps, 30-40 mins this morning and she's currently chatting to herself in her cot, bah...

ohthegoats · 08/07/2015 09:18

8 months 21 days...

SHE.SLEPT.THROUGH.THE.NIGHT

Holy crap, it feels a long time in the coming. Maybe it was because she started yesterday at 5.13am.

I hope it's not just a one off.

Buttwing · 08/07/2015 20:09

Hola!! Back from break away without the kids omg it was amazing we made the most of every single second Grin

goats woo hoo that's fantastic news!! Fingers crossed it continues.

Hope everyone is ok, we now have 4 top teeth fully through, it makes him look so different, so grown up!

FATEdestiny · 08/07/2015 22:25

I love DDs toothy smile. She has a great open mouthed smile and loads of people comment on her cute toothy smile.

Did your good sleep continue for a second night goats?

I realised today that DD is still in summer weight bedding and vests at night. No wonder she feels cold in the morning, the temperature is probably 15 degrees lower. Oops.

ohthegoats · 08/07/2015 22:47

We're wondering if her summer weight stuff might be helping - she had a 1 tog bag and a shorty vest on last night and while she had cold arms this morning, she'd clearly slept better. The actual temperature in her bedroom is only a few degrees cooler - still above 20.

I doubt we'll get it again! Hope so, but not holding out for it.

ohthegoats · 09/07/2015 08:05

Pah... every hour from 11pm - 3am, at which point I managed to get Nurofen in and she slept until da da daaaaa 6.15. Her teeth are giving her hassle, I've even had to give her Calpol this morning, but that's the worst night in yonks, and following on from perfect night, it's massively annoying.

FATEdestiny · 09/07/2015 12:17

Babies are all individual with temperature preferences. My eldest has been 'warm blooded' from birth, she is almost always too hot and likes to be cool.

DC1 is sleeping in just pants and duvet cover without a duvet inside, fan right by her head. On the other hand DC2 last night was in a fleece onesie and his normal 4.5 tog duvet.

Baby seems much happier being marginally warmer, rather than cooler.

Sorry your night was pants again goats

sazzlehopes · 10/07/2015 09:51

Hi all sorry I've not been on much but the last 3 weeks I've been wiped out by something - flu aches, fever, exhausted all the time, loss of appetite and yesterday I woke up with the most painful and sore left boob so called the doctors. He prescribed anti-b for mastitis. God I haven't felt this bad in a long time, it's like being hit by a train... In bed now just resting up, my oh took today off so I don't have to do anything except BF N when he needs. I've had blocked ducts before but this is different. Anyone else experience really bad mastitis? Hoping the penicillin kicks in soon...
Sorry for the selfish post!

ohthegoats · 10/07/2015 16:18

Yes I had mastitis at around 5 weeks - only started to feel a bit shit, but the boob thing was really painful. Sorting it out was quite hard work too. Hope you feel better now you've got anti-bs, they worked for me really quickly.

STIGZ · 10/07/2015 18:20

Hope you enjoy TITP kirstie .,, wish i was there !! Your dh's band will be fab Grin

So sorry sazzle that sounds horrendous Sad. You must be in agony breastfeeding ! Glad your dh is helping you out today xx

MundayCakes85 · 10/07/2015 19:08

Sazzle I hope you start feeling better soon, I'm glad your DH is there to help and support you.
I'm on a desperate diet to try to get into a dress for a wedding in a few weeks Hmm So DH is on his way to get a chinese take away! I have no will power Cake

OP posts:
Buttwing · 13/07/2015 09:49

Sazzle hope you are feeling better it's not something I've ever experienced but I believe it's incredibly painful.

Poor dd2 was up in the night with really bad croup her breathing was really bad at one point and I thought I was going to have to take her to a and e. Fortunately it settled a bit but I spent most of the night listening to her breath (as you do!) bit better today thank goodness.

STIGZ · 14/07/2015 10:09

Hi everyone hope everyone is well ?

Butt i hope your dd is a bit better now? That episode sounded very scary to say the least, poor wee soul.

sazzle are you feeling any better now ? I hope so ?

Im finding trying to entertain both children quite hard just now as its the summer holidays and i have lots of time to fill, i cant go swimming with both as dd2 would get fed up quickly and dd1 could stay in the pool for hours, either way i know
there would be tears from someone, the same goes for the cinema, the park and soft play is ok, I'm just having to have play dates as much as possible to keep dd1 from going crazy with boredom Confused

Buttwing · 15/07/2015 17:20

Thanks stigz. I thought she was getting better but I'm pretty sure she had a febrile convulsion in her sleep last night (she has a history of them) I was so sure she had grown out of them, but she was really disorientated this morning when she got up and had wet the bed both sure signs she had had a fit :(
Mine finish on Friday and you have my sympathy as I have no idea how I'm going to entertain everyone for 7 weeks.

She's been fine all day though so hopefully she's on the mend.

Babywing I'd properly on the move now much to his older brothers delight he keeps pointing saying bebe bebe then laughing he has also started chasing him by crawling round after him which they both find hilarious! So funny to watch. Grin

ohthegoats · 16/07/2015 09:02

Mine is the only baby of the ones we hang out with, who is properly moving. It's quite fun looking at the horror on the other mums faces when P is rolling around in puddles, making a beeline for flower beds and stuffing in the dirt. Has rather limited our things we can do though - no more cinema! She's currently emptying the kitchen cupboard that contains all my baking things. Apparently a tube of cake decorations rattles far far better than a rattle I've actually paid for does!

Other stuff going on with us - we've bought the Sleepyhead Grand. We'd got used to one wake up at around 4am, which was fine - I can cope with that. But then she did her one night sleep through, and after that it went totally to shit again. REALLY bad, right back to February. Sleepyhead has been in for 2 nights and it's back to one wake up. We're also starting to properly share out the night time wake up feeds now too because I'm going back to work on Monday. I know it's the school holidays but I've got to somehow get all my normal holiday prep work done around P, which frankly requires more sleep than usual! I've started reducing her milk during the day - she doesn't really seem to need it, and is eating pretty well now. Hopefully having gaps of 5 or 6 hours between actual milk feeds during the day will get her more used to longer gaps during the night.

That's about it. House still a building site, but a bit safer for P now that there is a 'safe' area we can cordon off for her to roam around. Just lots of decorating for me to get done between now and September!

FATEdestiny · 16/07/2015 12:32

I'm enjoying watching DD concur the fear of the unknown. A couple of months back she would get to the bottom of the stairs and then just sit and gaze looking up. She can now make it up the stairs.

The new one is the back door. No great issue with crossing the threshold physically, but she seems a bit daunted by the concept of going from inside into The Great Outdoors. This morning she has spent a good 20 minutes sat by the open back door, but not going out.

She's fine if I take her outside and then she'll go about exploring. But taking the plunge on her own is a different matter.

My eldest started walking at 8m1w so by DDs age (nearly 10 months) she was fully outdoor walking confidently. I look at DD (as I did when DC2 and DC3 were this age - they walked at a more normal 11 months) and wonder how the hell DC1 physically managed it!

Buttwing I am sorry about your daughter, that sounds very scary (for you and for her)

How's things going with your young toddler? My eldest's first word was "baby" because I was constantly having to say to her "careful of the baby", "gentle with the baby" and such. It's hard with such a little age gap, especially with summer hols coming up.

I'm sure you all remember being pregnant last summer? I am hoping my older children will be less hard work this year than last summer holidays when I was pregnant, massive, stressed and knackered. At least I have slightly more energy this summer.

ohthegoats · 16/07/2015 14:23

The stair climbing thing is great - she can get up, but is visibly scared of coming down. We've got a four stair section that she can practice on without doing herself too much damage, but still scared. Odd, because she launches herself quite happily off the bed on a daily basis head first, and has also launched herself out of the back door onto a gravel slope... and then done it again 10 minutes later despite major facial gravel rash. Duuh.

I'm in two minds about whether I just want her to get on with the walking or not. She can stand unaided for a few seconds, but any sudden movement like turning her head, knocks her over. It'll be nice not having someone pulling my skirt down the whole time when she actually starts standing/walking properly!

The one thing we've got is that she's scared of my big red exercise ball - if we don't want her to go somewhere, we just put that in the way. Ta daaaa. She shouts at it, pointing, telling it off, but can't actually touch it - and takes a very wide berth around it too.

Buttwing · 16/07/2015 16:21

Thanks fate. We've kind of got used to it now but as I said I thought shed grown out of them. The first time it happened I thought she was going to die I had no idea what was happening I just ran out into the street with her in my arms awful awful awful. But in the grand scheme of things it's not so bad and I try to think myself lucky that so far with all the children that's the worst we've had to deal with.
The toddler has actually been unbelievable he has never once accidentally hurt him or been rough he just adores him and actually Babywing seems to be the boss Confused I often here the toddler crying because Babywing has pinched one of his toys!

Has anyone been for a 9 month check yet? I've got an appointment through its in the school holidays so that will be fun Hmm I'm wondering if it's really necessary?

FATEdestiny · 16/07/2015 17:02

I got the letter inviting me to book the 9 month check about 6 weeks ago and forgot about it filled it somewhere important Hmm.

Have since had another letter reminding me. I might organise a babysitter over the summer and sort it out (and grab an hours peace just me and baby), otherwise I'll wait until September to book it and probably forget

MundayCakes85 · 16/07/2015 19:04

Butt it must be such a scary thing to deal with, poor little love.
E has not been allowed near the stairs but she's enjoying pulling herself up onto her knees, got 1 foot under herself then didn't know what to do next Smile
We had an 8 month check up with the HV, won't be seen again until 2 years. Is that right? Who is this 9 month check with? Confused
Had our first proper swimming lesson today and it went better than expected, looking forward to next week now Grin

Thanks all finished by antibiotics today and feel a whole load better. Such a relief to feel normal again.

Butt sorry about your dd, sounds scary...

We are down to a morning feed (which could be anywhere between 5am and 7am), a 3 pm feed after afternoon nap and then boob to sleep at 7; and then a 10pmish feed too. I'm happy with this amount seems ok and he's eating lots which I'm loving. I'm such a feeder!!!!
His sleep is improving slightly too, some times he goes from the 10pm feed to 5am sometimes he wakes around 2am... He can be left and seems ok to cry for a bit and go back to sleep. Or I go in and settle but he cries if I do that too. It's nice to feel we are getting there though with the sleep thing, slowly, but better...

Also had hospital appointment for N's allergies and it is confirmed by skin prick test that he has egg and dairy allergy but not soy so that's good. I am looking forward to eating tofu and Asian food!!! Yum! Also feel relieved I was right and not mad to have given up all those things for nine months.
He is also allergic to cat too and we have a cat! But we can't get rid of her I'd feel too bad, they said it might improve his eczema but they weren't sure so we will leave that for now.

Buttwing · 16/07/2015 20:42

munday it's done at 8 or 9 months depending on the area you live in so don't worry you don't have to do it again :)

sazzle that's really good news that you were right and at least now you know what you're dealing with, glad you are feeling better.

fate I'm thinking of filing it too!!

Kirstipops · 20/07/2015 20:53

Thanks Stigz, T was great fun and the tent was full of folk there to see them, good times Grin

Heidi is still a little immobile pudding but I think she'll make moves soon, though whenever something gets out of her reach she is always pretty laid back about it and turns her attentions to a different toy, I hope this carefree contented nature sticks with her haha!
Glad you're feeling better sazzle and that N's tests were productive, I don't think I could give up my cat either!
Buttwing your poor DD, hope she is OK now.

Hubnut · 25/07/2015 19:37

Is there some kind of bat signal for Yellowwellies? Someone in the infant feeding thread sounds like they're having horrendous time with possible cmpi.

FATEdestiny · 25/07/2015 21:10

Oh the thread has come back to life Smile

How are we all? How is weaning going?

Summer holidays started last week. Eldest DD gone on Peak 2015 camp this week so we are "a man down" in the family, as it were. It is quite amazing how the dynamics of the house changes when one isn't here.
