Apparently the other thread is closed. How're nappy explosions going?
Baby bought up a little bit, but I thinks it's because she had a total of 9oz in an hour.

Gosh ness must be fun putting that on!

bigfam · 15/04/2015 22:06

I can vaguely remember putting suncream on dd1's face when she was a baby, then she rubbed her eyes, she was a complete blotchy mess for hours Blush

Thanks again for the advice. If ranitidine Is weight sensitive how often do you need to go back to get the dosage changed? Sorry for all the questions. This is all completely new to me. Dd was a sicky baby but I just got through it but ds I think is much worse. It's just knowing what's normal being sick for a baby and what needs treating. Dh just says all babies are sick! It's normal. But it's not him clearing up the mess several times a day! It bothers me more than it does ds though. He's not phased by it but I find it hard to manage some days. It's like oh god not again when he needs yet another new outfit or I need another new top. It just starts to get you down.

Alyx80 · 15/04/2015 23:15

My DS2 was very sick, he was never diagnosed with reflux but I know how much him being sick wore me down (he'd often get through 10+ bibs and 5 outfits in a day and it didn't stop until he was 9 months - they told me it would stop when he was weaned but all that changed was that the sick was orange instead!) so I hope you managed to get it under control littlepink

We arrived back from Tenerife yesterday, we had a lovely time although it wasn't too relaxing with the four boys lol. Q slept really well at night in his travel cot and he wasn't too bad in the day in his pushchair although his nps weren't as long as when we're home and he always seemed to wake when I went in the pool!
He seemed to discover his voice while we were away and has been making some fab noises, it's very cute!

I'm now toilet training DS3 which is going to be fun as he won't sit on the toilet and insists on standing like his big brothers, hoping he gets the hang quickly.

Got the HV coming tomorrow for a weaning chat which is a bit pointless when I've done it 3 times before (hate it lol) but will hopefully get him weighed, the little chunk barely fit in some of the 6-9m stuff I took away which is insane as he's no where near the weight limit of them.

12 week jags today and DS has been crashed out on the sofa next to me since 3pm! Poor wee soul.

On a different note - we had a full day of sunshine here today! Loved being able to hang my washing out!

Elizadoesdolittle · 16/04/2015 20:43

So today's adventure was DD2 locking me out of the house resulting in her and DS being locked! Was setting the double buggy up ready for the school run ( it's a pain to get through the porch door so I put it up outside ). Next door neighbours cat was inside and it rushed past me and DD shut the door behind it. I had nothing, no keys, no phone nothing. DD1 was waiting to be picked up. Thanks to my neighbour, his phone, the Internet and my in laws I was able to get in without smashing the door down. What an afternoon! Stupid thing is DD1 did the same to me about 3 years a go at my sister's house. Moral of the story is always put your front door on the latch!

LittlePink · 16/04/2015 22:35

This is my nightmare eliza as dd likes to shut doors and close me in rooms. She closed the front door on me a few days ago, her and ds were in the house alone and I was outside but the keys were in the porch door so I could let myself back in. My horror is for her to lock me in the porch with no keys, phone and be trapped in there with no way of alerting anyone and being stuck there. I can't imagine your panic, it must have been awful. Glad you were able to get help quickly.

Dec1314mummy · 17/04/2015 08:22

eliza I would have totally freaked out! Poor you! Thank goodness it all ended well!
alyx what a nightmare with the clothes. I find the weight thing totally unhelpful to be honest as it tends to be shape etc doesn't it! Problem is I find you look at something thinking if will fit, get it home and you have no hope! I have finally learnt what type of trousers etc will fit Ds but it's still a guessing game with dd!
How does everyone get their dc to sleep? Dd has self settled a couple of times in her life, which I know is better than nothing, but knowing she can do it frustrates me more. I can't stand to hear her cry so I know I'm very quick to go to her but I really need to get her to self settle a bit more as I know she's using the bottle as a crutch in the night so the only way to improve night times now is to get her to self settle. I remember doing this with Ds and hating it so much. I rocked him to sleep for months and months (even though he was incredibly big for his age and I was pregnant). I cried about it a lot as it really hurt my back and I couldn't deal with hearing him cry! As they both have reflux I worry about them crying too much as it makes it worse so ends in a vicious cycle! So, I know every baby is different, but any wise words or tips Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/04/2015 11:14

littlepink that's my absolute fear as well. Can you imagine? Porch'es can be a blessing and a curse at the same time.

dec At the moment I pretty much feed to sleep or rock the moses basket. Or for day times its car, pushchair, bouncy chair or swing with hoover on! He has self settled on a couple of occasions (mainly when DH is in charge) so like you know he can do it but it's few and far between at this stage.

September60b · 17/04/2015 12:04

Eliza what a nightmare, I bet you felt completely panicked!

Dec I'm in a similar situation here. Getting dd off to sleep for any nap or for night time sleep is really stressful. She just fights sleep all the time and I end up having to rock and shush her to sleep (standing up, she won't let us sit down!) but only when she's completely exhausted. It can take an hour to actually get her off to sleep. I do worry about what we'll do when she's bigger but haven't really found a solution yet.

She does occasionally go to sleep in her Moses basket if she's very tired, and I sit next to her with my hand on her chest, but she does moan (not full on cry) for a while. She's pretty good through the night and she tends to self settle with the help of some white noise via an app on my phone.

Most annoying thing is that she drifted off to sleep nicely in a visitors arms a few days ago with no fuss whatsoever so I feel like I must be doing something wrong!!

LittlePink · 17/04/2015 13:00

I have to pat shush ds to sleep. He always wakes up after feeds so I don't have the problem of feeding to sleep like I did dd. he's pretty good at going to sleep at 7pm but naps are stressful. If i put him down a little bit too late he's over tired and it's horrible so it's a case of catching his cues on time but i don't always see his yawns etc. If I get him at the right time I give him a bit of a gentle jig in my arms next the cot then put him down when he's sleepy and shush pat him til he goes off. My major problem is dd wanting to help to put him to bed as she's more of a hinderance bless her. If I put her downstairs to watch c beebies within 2 mins she's up bang through the door shouting I want to help and he wakes up! Arrghh! I've tried giving her a baby cot for her dollies to copy me but she doesn't get it and just starts bouncing on the bed and I get really stressed out!

Dec1314mummy · 17/04/2015 13:48

Oh little, that's exactly my problem! Having Ds around really doesn't help the situation. Ah well I feel reassured that others are in a similar situation and know that it will pass eventually! Like you say it's trying to catch the tired signs at exactly the right time and then being able to act on them right then which isn't always possible!
Think I'm going to go swimming in a bit with the dc and Dm. Will be lovely.
I had a text this morning from an old head asking me if I want a job. It's the same job title as I have now but more pay and less classes (currently ks2 senior leader in 2 form entry so 8 classes new role would be year group senior leader in 3 form entry so only 3 classes). I love the responsibility that I have currently and was looking at more senior roles, but I'm torn as I will only get the same pay as I'm being offered for much more responsibility. I don't want to feel I'm going backwards and on my cv it won't really look any different, but I would have less stress and hopefully less work! It's hard to decide what to do really! It's the balance between being better for the kids and what I really want career wise! They also want a start ASAP so probably after half term if my current school would release me so it's going back in June vs September (obviously would have the summer off though)! Going to talk to him at the end of next week, but I hate decisions! Arghhhh

Pesto11 · 17/04/2015 16:53

Job sounds good but the timing is very soon!!
More money for the same or less stress- I like it!
I'm dreading going back in December and juggling baby and work in the evenings.
I need to take the plunge and apply for asst head roles but hate the amount of paperwork and stress that comes with it at my school.
And too comfy to think of moving schools after 7yrs.

Dd hardly naps in the day
She falls asleep on the boob at 1pm and if I sit still for half hour she will nap, if I move she wakes up immediately and that's it- all traces of sleep gone!
Same happens at 4pm
In the evening she is on and off feeding every half hour from 8pm till 9.30 then she will sleep till 3am.
If she wakes up as I put her into the cot I just tell her to sleep(!) she's usually so tired by then that she knocks out. Or I hold her, rock her and she's spark out
Sometimes I will feed her lying down on my bed then transfer her as she nods off whilst feeding.

Dec1314mummy · 17/04/2015 18:08

pesto that's my issue. The job I'm doing at the moment and the one I would go to are assistant head roles without the title. My pride makes me so frustrated that I don't have a better title (silly I know). Also Dh was at the same level as me before the dc and is now deputy so (again due to pride) I feel left behind. It has actually really got me down at times a Dh is so so lovely though and I daren't say too much (we have talked at depth many times) because he is so happy in his job now that I don't want him to feel guilty etc if I say how crap I feel. Problem is I may not get the role I really want anyway and it would give me a foot in the door at a place where I have respect of the head and deputy which counts for a lot. Also the head is retiring in a couple of years so opportunities will be there. Because it's a high tlr too it's higher pay than most of the assistant/ deputy jobs out at the mo!

Pesto11 · 17/04/2015 19:19

I say go for the money! And the nicer head!
But that might be why I'm not asst head! Others may say stick to the title and might be an easier route asst to deputy to head...

You have two v young babies who can be poorly and an understanding head counts for a lot ... Then again were you a mum when you last worked for that head? They might act differently and not be as 'nice'?

bigfam · 18/04/2015 10:06

I've got to post this, look at her face!!!

Hope everyone's well, and their lo's of course!!
Still sunny here, slightly colder, but after tomorrow it's supposed to be warming up again.

Aww she's gorgeous!

Nice and sunny but cool here too.. Lovely long walk with dh and dd! That's what weekends are for!

bigfam · 18/04/2015 22:17

Her face looks hilarious.
I'm itching to try out a new pram tomorrow, decided to get a new one as she's been happy with being in one lately. Grin

Everything just seems better when the sun's out

Alyx80 · 18/04/2015 22:23

It's been lovely here today and Q had a 3 hour nap so I could sit in the sunshine for a bit lol.
What pram are you getting bigfam? I've had about 20 for my four!

bigfam · 19/04/2015 03:26

Kiddicare imax elite denim, I got it yesterday, it's off for a test drive tomorrow! It's the 3rd pram she's had since she was born, but the first one that switches between parent and world facing we've had.
What prams do everyone use, just out of interest? We're due sun here for the foreseeable future, Grin

I've got my phil and teds on eBay. Had enough of it. Far too big and cumbersome and ds hates it. He screams the district down when I take him out in it so it's too stressful to have him in it. Have to keep stopping every minute and getting him out to carry him. Defeats the purpose of a pushchair! Also dd likes to walk everywhere now so we've bought a bugaboo bee and use the buggy board which is so much better. He's parent facing and I love seeing him looking up at the trees and taking in the world around him instead of being stuck in the back of the phil and teds seeing nothing!

Pesto11 · 19/04/2015 09:16

I have a parent facing pram and love it!
Although I'm sure you've written how wonderful the phil and ted's pram is as you try to sell it little!!

I remember thinking that I wouldn't push her around with the car seat on the buggy frame... Err we've done that more than a few times!
Anything for a quiet life right now!
She hates being in the car seat when in the car though!!!

Nesspot · 19/04/2015 18:37

We have the Uppababy Vista and it's great. It's maybe slightly heavier than some but feels really sturdy and safe which is good as we have two dogs and do a lot of walking. Although having said that, I'm a big fan of babywearing so use the baby carrier - it's about 50/50 with that and the pram just now.

Elizadoesdolittle · 19/04/2015 20:17

I have a quinny buzz which I don't particularly like but it does parent and world face. I use the baby jogger city mini single and the double version of the bjcm more. I do need to get a buggy board for the single but DD2 still a bit too little. I also use a sling quite a bit.

bigfam · 19/04/2015 20:41

Call me nosey (please don't Blush ) how much did you all spend on prams and were they new?
I really love the new pram, lo likes it too. She also likes crashing out on her tummy across my lap.
