Apparently the other thread is closed. How're nappy explosions going?
Baby bought up a little bit, but I thinks it's because she had a total of 9oz in an hour.

Thanks alyx, that's interesting to know. Thanks. That's what I was thinking, the nappies doesn't other me.... The constant neediness and the inability to properly communicate does. The thought of still being at the baby stage in 10 years however, scares me too! Sounds like you are having a lovely and well deserved break Grin I say keep those feet up. Well done Quade for his sleeping too. I'm not at all jealous Wink enjoy the sunshine.

Pesto11 · 10/04/2015 03:38

I think we are planning a 2 year gap between babies
Happy medium between my desire of wanting 1 yr gap and dh wants a 4 year gap!
I also don't wnt to be too old when we have the last baby...
I'm feeling knackered already and this is first baby and I'm late 20s!

Dd is sleeping well in her cot and will be asleep by 10pm most nights now (woohoo) after being attached to boob from 7.30pm!!
Wanted to get a baby monitor as I don't feel comfortable leaving her upstairs when I head downstairs ... Any recommendations ?

Dec1314mummy · 10/04/2015 05:42

pesto there is less than 13 months between my 2 and I'm not going to lie, the last 3 1/2 months have been very very hard work. I'm starting to see it get slightly easier though. I think if Ds napped better and Ds wasn't so sick all of the time it would be easier!
We have the tommy tippee one with the breathing sensor and like the peace of mind it gives us. The image is also very clear and it has a 2 way talk button, so when we used it with Ds we could shhh him back to sleep without going into his room (well sometimes). It has served us well.

Dec1314mummy · 10/04/2015 05:42

Dd napped better rather!

Pesto11 · 10/04/2015 06:06

13months, allergies, not great sleepers plus general baby issues- no thank you! Bet you haven't slept in 2 years!

(Plus my stitches are still causing me issues!)

Tommee tippee is on offer in asda for £99 -reviews said the battery life was rubbish though

Thing is there are bad reviews for all the monitors if you keep reading long enough!
I like the element of 2 way talk tho!

Dec1314mummy · 10/04/2015 08:39

To be honest I have it on mains most of the time but I can't say I've noticed a terrible battery life!
No I definitely haven't slept well for 2 years. Ds doesn't sleep particularly well at all. He is an amazing little boy though and dd is fantastic too. Both of my babies are very inquisitive nosey so they are not too good at sleeping if they can see something more interesting or anyone is around! I am lucky (if that's the right word) that Ds was an early walker. Problem is he won't stop, ever and he runs rather than walks. He understands everything you ask of him too! He's so lovely but a cheeky little monster Grin dd already has everyone wrapped around her little finger. She's got a special shout to get your attention then does a fantastic smile as if to say... 'Ha I've got you now'.
Sorry, I've babbled on! They may be hard work but I don't half love my kids!

September60b · 10/04/2015 08:47

Interesting re the age gaps between children. My dh started talking about a second dc a few days ago. I was thinking that a 3 or 4 year gap would be more doable for us but I'm still undecided.

Dd is nearly 14 weeks and had me up every 2 hours last night for a feed. Is there a growth spurt around this time does anyone know? I thought it might be the 4 month sleep regression come early but she seemed to be really hungry.

She's been a bit clingy since her jabs earlier this week but she is now much better in her pushchair and I don't panic so much if she wakes when we're out. I hope things improve for you in that regard little!

Pesto11 · 10/04/2015 08:59

Best to be inquisitive than placid (it's the teacher in me! ) rather have children who are curious than children who just sit there!

4month sleep regression?!! Noooo!!!! Dd has such a good routine going - I'm happy with things just the way they are!
That's why I'm looking at baby monitors ... Don't want to go back to 2 hourly feeds... Nooo!!

You're doing really well dec
My bro is 1 year younger and seriously don't know how mum did it and I also have another bro a year older! Aaaghhhh. (Not all planned - mum says!)

Dec1314mummy · 10/04/2015 09:57

sept dd was like that last week and it was a nightmare. She is slowly settling down again though! She was also very very clingy again! Glad to hear that she is going in her pushchair better though.
pesto myself and Dh are both in primary education (Dh is a deputy and I'm a senior leader) so the poor things don't stand a chance!! When I go back to work my mum is having them and has just retired from being a headteacher! We were joking that we need to start taking photos to add to their learning journey! We also have a play room that leads fri outside so have indoor and outdoor learning (all joking of course). It is hard to switch off from it though!

chiruri · 10/04/2015 10:02

We have a Motorola monitor with 2-way talk, night vision display and a temperature display. I really like it, although I haven't used it much (just if I get up earlier than DD and fancy my breakfast before she wakes up).
She's my first but I'd quite like another at some point. I like the idea of a larger gap (4-5 years) but as I'm 29 I'm a bit worried about trying to get pregnant in my mid 30s. I had no problems getting pregnant this time, and the whole thing was very staightforward, so I'd like to think it'll be fine.
DD is also super inquisitive and gets very bored/angry if left without stimulation. She's started really grasping at toys in the past few days, which is exciting.

bigfam · 10/04/2015 11:24

I've missed loads Shock been enjoying the lovely weather.
there's less than a year between my first two, then between the 1st and 3rd there's 3 years and the biggest gap is 6 years between my eldest and the baby. (phew does that make sense)
I honestly can't remember what it was like having the first two so close together, so it can't have been that hard, I can vaguely remember feeding them both their bottles at the same time as dd1 still couldn't hold her bottle when she was 1, but she was an excellent baby, toddler and now little girl. Her brother was born 4 days before her 1st birthday Grin

Teacher friends who have come to visit have jokingly mentioned whether I've started phonics etc!

And I can't wait to get my hands on the garden! My outside area!

Pesto11 · 10/04/2015 11:59

It's amazing how far they've come along
Dd is also grasping everything and pulling so strongly. Legs have always been strong.
Can't wait for the sitting up stages Smile

bigfam · 10/04/2015 12:39

Baby spends the majority of her day trying to eat her hand, she really is smiley as well. Can't believe how quickly it goes though...

I've missed loads too. Just at a soft play and catching up whilst keeping an eye on dd. ds has been going through the 12 Wk growth spurt and been feeding like a newborn again. He woke 1-2 hrly last night. One of the wake ups was a picture falling off the wall at 2am and glass smashing everywhere. Was really scary as we didn't know what it was at first.
We have a Motorola MBP 36. It's very good and I recommend it. Bit pricey but worth every penny. I've got a camera in our room where he goes to bed at night and one in his room where he naps. I was using one in Dds room and one in ours and able to flit between the two but she doesn't need one anymore. It's so sensitive I can see him breathing on it.

Dec1314mummy · 10/04/2015 17:30

Wow little that sounds like one hell of a monitor! Very impressive!
I agree with the batting and playing with toys. They really come into their own around this age. Dd is stupidly strong and is now sitting for very very short periods in her own. She gets angry if she's lay down too much and starts doing a sit-up!
Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine Grin it's my birthday so have been very spoilt by dh and fm. She has had the kids most of the day and he sent me with dm to have a massage. It was amazing. We are going out for a meal as well later which will be lovely as we haven't had an evening of just us since Dd has come along. I do find it hard being away from the kids though!

Pesto11 · 10/04/2015 18:01

Aww what a gorgeous day for a birthday! Glad you've had a lovely day... Ooh I could do with a massage! My boobs would probably explode if I lay on my front though!!!

At least we have the 'highs' to balance out the 'lows' of the early stages of parenthood!

Elizadoesdolittle · 10/04/2015 18:07

DD1 was 2.10 when DD2 was born and DD2 was 2.2 when DS was born so fairly similar age gaps. I do prefer the older age gap though. But DD2 is tiny for her age which doesn't help so need to have a double buggy. Hoping she will be big enough for a buggy board come the summer. I think there are advantages and disadvantages whatever size age gap you have.

We have had a lovely couple of days out enjoying the sun. looks set to get cooler for the weekend though Sad

Happy birthday dec. sounds like you're having a lovely day.

I'm out to celebrate a friends birthday tomorrow night. Going to a wine bar and then for thai. really looking forward to it.

Nesspot · 10/04/2015 23:30

Happy birthday Dec!

No need for a baby monitor here - one of the few benefits of living in a shoebox Smile

September60b · 11/04/2015 10:08

Happy birthday Dec, that sound amazing! Smile

Another night of 2 hourly wake ups here. I don't know what's going on, we're not doing anything differently Confused I guess it's probably just one of those things that will pass. It's hard to be frustrated when she's smiling away at me at 5 in the morning on the third wake up having taken 3 hours to get to sleep in the first place! It's funny how little sleep you can actually function on isn't it?

It fascinates me watching her develop her new skills. Everything she grabs now goes in her mouth. She's just noticed her feet too - no grabs for those yet but she's definitely interested in them!

bigfam · 11/04/2015 11:46

That does sound amazing Dec, glad you enjoyed it!

Just after reading your post of your lo's toe fascination baby has decided she rather likes the look of hers. And So commence's operation toe grabbing... Successful!

Everyone's disappeared! Hope everyone is having a lovely chilled weekend. Dd has had a couple of more unsettled nights which hasn't been great. In fact Ds hasn't been great too! Dm has taken Ds to hers for a couple of hours and then we are going to the inlaws for dinner so has been a pretty chilled day. I was going to sort a few bits and bobs but dd has decided to have a stupidly long sleep (well for her) but the slightest noise wakes her so I have resettled her 4 times now. She normally won't be resettled so I am hoping it's the start of an actual daytime nap and not catnapping. Feel very unproductive though!
Oh dear the wind is picking up and my washing is flying around the garden! Better dash!

Alyx80 · 12/04/2015 15:13

We're at Aqualand today and it's a bit cloudy! DH is running round after the big boys while I'm spending most of the time sat on the sunbed feeding lol. Can't believe how quiet it is here though, there are no queues on anything so my oldest is loving it on all the big rides.
When Q woke on Friday night he'd managed to roll onto his side and turn 90 degrees in the cot lol, I hope he's not on the move too soon!

I love that pic with the tablet, what a smile! Oh is trying to convince me that we should all have a family outing to Chessington or similar, kind of nervous about taking them all out! She slept from about 9pm til 6.30am last night, which somehow has made me more tired now!!
