Truk yes DS had definate boobs when born they went down quickly but to feel it now it still feels like a marble under the nipple apparently they can remain for up to 4 months but maybe get it checked out as it has grown.

Despite best intentions to keep up with thread and try and post, dropped off again! Not been doing so well Sad
LO is 10 weeks now and I am very lucky as he isn't a high maintenance baby, but have been finding things very tough the last few weeks. Conscious of PND with my history, so checking in with my lovely hv tomorrow. Hoping with some support will feel more like myself soon and can contribute a bit more.

Hi Tick, I have the same Q as Peppermint - do the bottles have to be flash cooled after having been made up with boiling water or can they be left to cool on the counter ?
Thanks!

Bangles hope you feel Better soon!

We're off to Dorset for Easter and busy packing everything but the kitchen sink!!

Report
Ticktick · 30/03/2015 03:10

Hiya, about cooling bottles flash cool is always going to be better to prevent growth of any bacteria, but cooling in a bowl of water for 20 mind then fridge will work fine. That's how I'm doing it Smile

A while since I have posted too! Hope yr HV is helpful jen and yr def right to talk to them. Glad baby isn't too high maintenance - same here, MOSTof the time! I asked a while ago about 4-6 wk crying peak, Ben is 6 wks tomorrow and def crying/grizzling less than a wk or two wks back, yay.
Glad to hear yr feeling bit better frenetic, I was glad to get off painkillers about ten days after episiotomy so massive sympathy for ppl taking them for ages after caesareans.
Funny how time flies, great to hear ppl are making it out and about and all that. We went on a 90min train ride last week and that went really well, plus I had a meal out with colleagues on Fri. Hurray!

That made me laugh memphis! No pets allowed...!! Grin
bangles I hope you feel better soon and that LO doesn't get it.
things on DD I was on 3 different antibiotics for the first 4 weeks after I gave birth so not sure whether it affected her as she continued to be fussy until she was about 10 weeks old anyway.
frenetic I'm feeling a bit weird the last few days too. Apart from feeling a bit queasy, I'm feeling as if I'm coming down with something (but I'm not...) and when I touch my belly (not necessarily on the actual scar) it gives me goosebumps and doesn't feel right. I cannot really explain it. It's been almost 6 weeks since I gave birth and between weeks 2 and 5 I was ok. This started after week 5.
jen I hope that this time it doesn't affect you as it did the first time. I've been trying a bit of meditation and mindfulness exercises and they seem to help. I've also had PND with DD for a long time (about 3.5 years), so it's still a work in progress this time as I want to make sure I consciously feel well.

We have well and truly hit the 5 week whinges here. LO kept us up half the night crying and refusing her basket. But stick her in between us and she does 3.5 hours! Meant I got a lie in though.
Walked to the clinic today to weigh her. Little chunk now weighs 6 lb 15! She's nearly normal newborn size! I think the walk took it out of me her as she's now in a ball on my lap snoozing away.

I'm a right bag of nerves though atm. Have potentially got an interview for a promotion at work and am dreading it. Not only would it mean leaving her but the thought of getting in front of a class right now is horrible. The timing couldn't be any worse really. I feel like a mean mummy for leaving her for the day. It also means that there is a massive chance I will stuff it all up if I've been up all night with her. Not that my head teacher would take that into consideration. That would make him human!

Tweety, my scar feels OK.. It's just this daily queasiness that's currently bothering me. Wondering if it's worth asking my HV tomorrow if I should call my GP. Still no other symptoms (new ones anyway), just feel like I'm reliving early pregnancy :(

Report
tweety89 · 30/03/2015 18:58

Ah ok, I'm not that queasy, I sometimes feel like my BP is dropping quickly. I have my 6-week-check on Weds so I will ask the GP.

lancashire I managed to get myself a new job on mat leave going for an interview when DD was about 5 weeks old. I felt awful, I could barely sit down as my suit was so tight & I really had not a lot of sleep. I must have managed to fake being a lot more functional than I really was! Am sure you can do the same. You sound quite normal on here, I don't think I could even type last time! Good luck!
I knackered today 2 early morning starts with DS & then DD getting up nice & early too. Would go to bed now but DS wide awake & DH not home yet. He finishes work at 5pm in theory a 10 min drive away!

Best of luck lanc! No bother to you!

Tweety and Frenetic, sorry to hear you are both feeling poorly. Definitely worth mentioning it to the gp/hv.

Possibly a silly question..but what happens at the 6 wk check up? I've mine on Thursday.

DS has been snoozy all day. Even slept twice in the buggy. Although it has been great having two arms for much of the day...it makes me fearful about tonight...does a snoozy day equal a wakey night??

Good luck Lancashire I'm sure you will do great Smile

Blank my 6 week check was just a general chat with gp to check how I was doing. He told me he views them as a social occasion unless there are any problems u want to bring up. They do discuss contraception and weigh u tho. No examination, but friends have said if you've had a section they will check ur scar.

Blanks at this stage I think they sleep well at night too its once a bot older if they sleep more in say they won't sleep at night.

Seems everyones 6 week check is different but mine he felt my belly as I had a hernia when pg, talked about contraception, asked about how I feel in myself, do I have support at home etc and then he stripped LO off did the hip test, checked eyes, roof of mouth, checked him over in general

Is anyone unable to settle their kids to sleep at night? DS will sleep on the boob for hours but once I move him to get him to put him to bed he wakes up. I've been trying for well over an hour and keeps waking up..probably smelling my milk. DH takes him and he settles and falls asleep in his arms. He then puts him in crib and most nights settles fine. I find it really upsetting that I can't settle him at night. Anyone else have this?

Blank my lo will not settle for me and the only place she will sleep is on me. I keep trying to soothe her in her basket but she tends to be quiet for about 3 mins till she realises where she is and then cries.
Daddy then reluctantly gets up and mostly manages to get her to settle. And if he can't the she comes in with us. Which I love really as I get cuddles all night Blush.

Success! A poo change without a scream! Lots of kisses and hugs as a reward. Smile

My docs can't fit us in for weeks. I have to keep ringimg apparently. I want to ask about having a new coil put in. Mine (after the initial "omfg the pain") was amazing. I know I will be safe for 5 years and by that point will know if I want another baby or not. And if not I've decided to get my tubes tied.

Report
jenmcspen · 31/03/2015 05:38

Our docs don't do any checks on baby at 6 weeks. They have a separate appointment for them at 8 weeks when they c the doc before their jabs. Guess everywhere is slightly different. Annoying u have so much hassle getting an appt Lancashire. Ours let me book a few weeks in advance when we registered LO. Think he was about 2 weeks old.

Soo tired but can't get back to sleep as it is so noisy outside. Sounds like everything is blowing all over the place!

Memphisbelly · 31/03/2015 06:07

agree Jen the weather has kept me uo most of the night and LO has slept well which is typical.
we are suppost to be spending 4 days in garden totally re doing it but according to paper weather is going to be bad.

There are three things which need to happen as post natal appointments. A 6 week check for mum, 6-8 weeks examination for baby & 8 weeks imms for baby. It depends on your Drs as to how they arrange it all. For some that is 3 different appointments, others combine all 3. Ours is one for me then 2 weeks later exam & injections with a different GP. Also depends on the GP as to how much they do at mum's appointment. Mine insisted on checking my stitches even though I wasn't worried.

Morning!

Ridiculously windy here - we've moved out of our house to have s loft conversion so the high winds send DP into a spin.

We experimented going out last night to our pre DS Monday activities. That involved DS going to kungfu with DP. Had a practice run last week when DS came to a meeting with me and slept in his baby bjorn throughout, very easy. Last night was a disaster. Poor DS cried, threw up and cried again and DP just left.
Realised last night we prob also have silent reflux he groans and strains loads but mostly after his during the night feed. I'll need to go and read your posts frenetic. And I thought it was just cute noises. He obviously hasn't got it too bad tho. Off to mum and baby yoga today peppermint, went last week and it was hardcore- literally with loads of planks.
lancs good luck re work and getting an appt.

Hope everyone has a great day. DS and I are at a surprise hen night / afternoon for a colleague today which will involve him being held upright a lot so he'll be a happy boy!

donkir · 31/03/2015 08:20

It's also very windy here in Suffolk. Didn't seem to bother LO though and he only woke at 2 and 6.30.
I went back to exercise last night and tried Pilates for the first time. I'm definitely aching this morning.
On other news exactly 2 months to the day after lo was born Mother Nature has returned to ruin my day. Hope it's short lived as got a weekend away with hot tub planned and it was a complete emotional roller coaster going and buying a new swim costume!
