Thanks tick, I love a bit of science!
So I went to the party, OH stayed at home with his flu and LO. I got a desperate txt to say LO wouldn't take formula and wouldn't stop crying. Got home to one looking sorry for himself hubby Sad 5 minutes later had LO calm and feeding. Hey ho, looks like proper nights out are still some distance off.
Scary with the clocks changing. When LO woke I glanced at the bedside clock and it said 2.30. It's now 4.20 Shock Luckily (?) I'm so sober as to not be confused. com!!

Thank you for the replies Smile

Tick, thanks for the formula mixing tips / science bit - really helpful and Why, thanks for the WHO guidelines.

Blank and geeky, I will copy your mixing method - makes sense to me. Do you sterilize your flask each time, or does the fact that it contained (presumably hot) boiled water at first sterilize it from the inside if you see what i mean?

Excited about taking LO swimming for the first time next week while we're away for Easter. We're going to stay at a holiday cottage in Dorset with our extended family. Have bought the cutest little wetsuit for the baby Smile

freneticfox · 29/03/2015 06:52

Just catching up, had a photographer friend over yesterday to get some nice pics of LO and it must have tired us all out, we slept quite well!

Useful info regarding formula, I'm starting to reduce my pumps and when the freezer stash is gone we'll be going to formula. I assume perfect prep machines are safe? Used it a few times and love it!

Bangonthedoor · 29/03/2015 07:17

Morning all, just found the new thread Smile

So LO slept from 11:30pm until 6am, so pleased I got a good amount of sleep but I feel she owed me when she screamed from 8:30-11pm Grin

blankfornames · 29/03/2015 07:32

Got very excited in the night when I thought that DS slept for 4 hrs straight...then I remembered the clocks changing Sad

I did the same blank!

GeekyHybrid · 29/03/2015 10:47

mim I haven't actually gone out with the formula yet, I'm just trying to get my head around it! I'm bf but LO now needs an enzyme based 'starter' which means expressing - not really practical when out & about Hmm The solution for this afternoon is I've invited all my mates around, must tidy the house a bit but otherwise easy peasy!

tweety89 · 29/03/2015 10:49

| just remembered that the clocks changed! This morning I just thought my watch needed a new battery and updated the time in case. Grin

Addictedtocustardcreams · 29/03/2015 12:51

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. After saying I was rowing with DH loads less this time compared to DD we have now had an extended row starting last night because I didn't know where one of DD's Mr men books was & told him I had better things to worry about!
LO seems really fussy with feeds since last night on & off both boobs & driving me mad!

GeekyHybrid · 29/03/2015 13:20

They are annoying when they fuss aren't they addicted?! My LO was like that half the week cos of his cold Hmm As for OH!! Luckily we don't row but he can be a miserable sod, especially when poorly himself. Saying that I shouldn't grumble too much, I can hear him getting the snacks out ready for this afternoon whilst making lunch whilst I'm feeding Grin I guess they earn their keep sometimes!

BanglesSpangles · 29/03/2015 15:16

Uuurrrgh, today has not been a good day- epic epic episodes of V&D from ME! Ive not been this ill in about 15 years... Have only been able to hold down water in the last 20 minutes, and have put myself in quarantine, so havent seen the LO and DH all day :(

Slightly panicking that I'll have infected LO anyway... And dunno what I'll do tomorrow when DH is at work- think youre contagious for 24 hours after the last bout of sickness, gah!

Time for another nap

dancestomyowntune · 29/03/2015 15:39

Just catching up. I'm now not making up formula for a while as Dd has been prescribed ready made nutriprem 2 in a bid to clear her constipation (so expecting a poonami soon!). However, with my older children I used to make up bottles in the morning and place in the fridge for a 24 hour period. This time I was pretty much making them as needed.

PeppermintInfusion · 29/03/2015 15:50

Tick, if you make a bottle then leave it to cool by itself is that ok? I've done that a few times if I've needed to go out and knew there would be a feed due relatively soon, but wondering if it always needs to be flash cooled?

freneticfox · 29/03/2015 16:22

Trying to reduce my daily pumping amount. So. Very. Engorged.

Hope everyone is having a relaxed Sunday - today is the first day since I gave birth that I've not needed painkillers until well into the afternoon. Progress in recovery, achieved :D

Memphisbelly · 29/03/2015 16:43

Grinning and bangles regarding people touching LO the worst I have had this time so far is someone asking to look then spending way longer than it felt confortable saying 'oh Frank look at him, oh he smiled' but im unsure if that annyed me as ds never smiles for me ever but seems to at everyone else......last time in Tesco (must be weird tesco people) someone was saying how wonderful ds was and then LICKED her fingers and flattened his wild hair, I am normally so outspoken but words failed me.....I went round to next aisle and got baby wipes out

Bangles hope it doesnt spread through family like it did us last week

Frenetic thats great progress

Well we are home, missed boys terribly but was nice to stay in a nice hotel and eat posh food (even if we were the youngest by about 30 years) then wandered up road for a drink, on way back today we stopped at Peterborough to look at motorbikes, was so close to getting a new one for me but we have a garden to pay for Grin then to get a new prep machine (rock and roll) now home to a very fussy baby who is napping for 5 mins then waking himself up crying-repeat x 10.
We really are lucky to have an amazing family my sis had the boys and her baby grandson from 9am til 7pm yesterday then after work my mum picked them up and had them until about 3.

tiredvommachine · 29/03/2015 16:46

I've got a perfect prep machine and it's wonderful!
LO has maybe one bottle a day but the rest is still BF but the machine is great.
Well worth the money in my opinion.

PeppermintInfusion · 29/03/2015 19:23

Random supermarket people who look too long really get me but more so old lady acquaintances who think it's ok to kiss his head! I'm very much a non hugger and struggle enough with distant relatives wanting to hold him all the tomeHmm

Memphisbelly · 29/03/2015 19:42

Peppermint yes the long starers.....for me they normally catch me in Costa coffee in the queue either them sitting staring at him in the queue although I had him in his teddy snowsuit the other week, asleep and face burrowed in my neck to be told by a nosey parker 'no pets allowed in here' they thought he was a little lap dog Grin I showed her his face and she was mortified Grin

Addictedtocustardcreams · 29/03/2015 19:58

Bangles that sounds horrid hope you are better soon.
Frenetic you sound really up beat in that last post, hope progress continues.
I had a really awkward one the other day with a man wanting to look at DS but not realising he was feeding at the time. He started chatting to his face/ my boob & I didn't know what to do! I felt so bad when he realised, he was so embarrassed!

thingsarelookingup · 29/03/2015 21:04

I had to laugh at that addicted. Sorry.

Does anyone know if me being on antibiotics could make LO unsettled. She is much more clingy this week and also seems to be struggling more with poos and I have some vague recollection this could be down to my antibiotics. Also does water help get things going? I seem to remember that too and I have just tried and after about 10ml she has filled a nappy but I'm not sure if it's just coincidence. It's quite a challenge to get her to drink even that much because she is already quite a bottle refuser. I really, really wanted to avoid that.

Memphisbelly · 29/03/2015 21:43

Things some cooled boiled water can get things moving but if you really want to avoid bottles dubbing their bellies in a clockwise motion or lyning them down and peddling their legs for a while is suppost to help move things along, in regards to antibiotics I have no idea

trukevoli · 29/03/2015 22:01

has anyone LOs got lumps under their nipples.

I know it is common but DS has one which is quite big and one you can just about feel. the big one has also grown in the last 24 hours.

thingsarelookingup · 29/03/2015 22:07

Not that I've noticed truk but I will have a look in the morning.

Memphis I would love for her to take a bottle but unfortunately she has other ideas!

freneticfox · 29/03/2015 22:30

Not that I've noticed truk, still got inverted little nipples! Maybe ask GP or HV?

The last few nights I've felt queasy around the same time. I'm absolutely not pregnant, not on any new meds... Nothing new or different recovery wise with my scar. Wondering if it's a hormonal thing? Anyone else have anything similar?
