Regarding work even when absolutely on my knees with tiredness it gives me a lift, I miss my boys and love going back to them but I love getting 2-3 shifts. I honestly think going back has made me a better mum as I get a few hours a week time out.

Today I decided bugger a routine my baby is 11 weeks and I have plenty of time to sort a routine out (probably due to be mega tired and disheartened after the crap night yesterday) so Tonight I did some sewing, put ds1 to bed, LO fell asleep on me I let him sleep for a bit then at 10.30 I bathed him, he guzzled 5oz then promptly fell asleep in his crib.....lets hope he sleeps to give me a chunk of sleep

GeekyHybrid · 15/04/2015 04:11

The feeding I can do. Changing, no problem. Having to also change clothes, annoying but manageable. Keeping him upright for a half hour after feeding at this time of night to prevent further vomiting - yeesh. So want to go back to bed!

tiredvommachine · 15/04/2015 07:09

Geeky-i really really struggled during these night feeds with keeping LO propped up after his feed and I only do it for about 15 mins afterwards. I was a proper nodding dog sitting up in bed.
Memphis-how did your LO sleep after that?
Blank-likewise?

GeekyHybrid · 15/04/2015 08:22

I managed to prop him up for 25 minutes Grin Most nights I do take him to the nursery for feeding but I do have a lovely nursing chair and footstool a mate gave me. The effects of yesterdays cluster are showing, he fed at 6.30 then went straight back to sleep and is only just stirring now. Maybe I should of left the curtains closed longer Wink

PinkyAndTheBump · 15/04/2015 09:59

Any ideas how many layers our 9w old should have on today. It's going to be 24deg in London today and we've arranged to go into visit friends who are here from abroad!

Also can't decide whether to sling or buggy. Decisions!

LancashireTea · 15/04/2015 10:20

Not sure pinky as my lo is only happy when she's boiling. I think she has my Raynaud's and she shivers when she's in a short sleeve vest under a top and if she has any bare skin other than her head. Kind of like her mummy (I really suffer). I'm off out with her today. We are going for lunch in a country pub with my friends. So I will sit her in the shade, whack on the suncream (I will burn badly otherwise) and chill.
That's if I ever manage a shower....

blankfornames · 15/04/2015 10:40

Tired..not v successful at all. He went into his crib before 12. Woke after 1, wasn't interested in feeding despite sucking his fingers. Fell asleep in my arms..transferred him..he woke..(repeat x3). DH soothed him and got him into crib. Woke at 5 and awake until 10 minutes ago. I bathed him and that tires him out. As for me.....Zzzzzzz!!

geeky tired I keep him upright for 20-30 minutes after each feed because of the silent reflux too but sometimes though he possets a couple of hours later...Not sure what to do anymore. And he is getting used to it... :(

GP saw his nappy rash today and finally decided to get a swab for strep or anything else lo might have. She told me that unfortunately he might need oral antibiotics. We'll know on Friday.

PeppermintInfusion · 15/04/2015 15:05

Went to my first baby massage class this afternoon, DS seemed to love it especially looking at all the other babies and it seems quite social so hopefully I'll meet some local people (although I've lived here on and off most of my life I don't actually know many people nearby). Totally misjudged the 'dress code' though as it involves sitting on the floor etc but most other people were really dressed upBlush need to make an effort next week then!

LancashireTea · 15/04/2015 17:57

Had a lovely afternoon in the sun with LO and my friends. Nothing like sitting in a beer garden and talking over good food. Was a bit jealous of their pimms drinking but I was driving and fed lo twice whilst there. Not one of my friends bats an eyelid for that which is good otherwise I'd be not kindly telling them where to go.
Lo either slept or was quite jolly so chalking today up as being good.
peppermint sounds lovely. I really want to join something like that but I'm a bit nervous.

PeppermintInfusion · 15/04/2015 19:25

Yes I would recommend it Lancashire, especially for babies with colic etc. I get quite nervous about these things too but they were all lovely.

Addictedtocustardcreams · 15/04/2015 19:31

Been feeling a bit tired & overwhelmed today but DD just said "good night DS" & gave him a little kiss on the forehead- it was so sweet & melted my heart a little bit. Now I am feeding DS & having a little cry.
Lancs- that sounds like a lovely afternoon it's been raining here!
Peppermint- I start massage next week with DS while dd in nursery- was not planning to go dressed up or put on makeup though!

Am also impressed with everyone back in work. I have to pop in to mine tomorrow but just for a short time to deal with a complaint-rubbish!

Memphisbelly · 15/04/2015 19:32

Been at work today and im shattered, met a woman who had her baby day after mine and is already back at work too so made me feel better about being back.

Got my first baby group tomorrow im a bit nervous as they arent my thing at all, its only 90 mins of my life this is what I keep running through my head

GeekyHybrid · 15/04/2015 21:53

We tried some baby classes today too. There was a free music one but it involves a 20 mile round trip, pot luck on parking and LO was youngest by a country mile - the others were mostly toddlers. Then did one in the village which costs £3 but 2 min walk from home and is definitely aimed at babies. It's multi sensory including baby massage and I knew several people from the bf support group on Thursdays. I think the village one wins as whilst it's possible to do both I think he was a bit overwhelmed. And slept long enough in his buggy this afternoon for me to get some gardening done Grin And catch the sun Blush I hadn't bothered with sunscreen cos I thought it would be like all the other attempts at gardening with OH at work- short Hmm Hey ho. Dentist tomorrow which I'm dreading as I'm sure I've chipped a tooth so it could be expensive Sad

Memphisbelly · 15/04/2015 21:59

Geeky it will be free until baby is a year old. Im getting my cap repaced by a proper veneer for free

GeekyHybrid · 16/04/2015 04:39

Unfortunately memphis only if you've got an NHS dentistSad They're as rare as rocking horse shit around here, if you do find one who will accept you they're crap and you end up paying for remedial work anyway which is more expensive than if you had it done properly to start with Sad This may even be the case with this tooth - I got the root canal done by a NHS dentist but the filling has never been 'right'. The private guy I now see filed it but knowing I'm not rich / low paid job etc he's held off actually replacing it. But loosing part of the tooth was always a risk cos there was so little left after the canal work. At least it doesn't hurt, physically anwaysHmm

Honeybird · 16/04/2015 10:50

I'll be back to work in September, bit nervous about how DH is going to cope as stay-at-home dad to 3. He was stressed enough with two. But I keep reminding him he wanted more kids, knowing he would end up at home with them. He used to say 4 or 5 but I think he has decided 3 is just fine now.

Honeybird · 16/04/2015 10:51

How many kids do all of you want? First timers, are you aiming for lots?

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 16/04/2015 10:55

Honey - 2 is plenty for us, especially after the pregnancy I had and problems I'm still having from it. DH had the snip whilst I was pregnant and has now had the all clear.

LancashireTea · 16/04/2015 11:16

At this rate my lo will be an only child! Oh would have 4 given the chance but I hated pregnancy and tbh we don't earn enough for more than two max. Even then I'd probably have to give up work unless we wait till this one is at school. And then I'll be 34.
I go back to school the week before October half term. The head is trying to bully persuade me to come back in September, otherwise I won't be teaching English but something else. Hmm He can fuck off to the far side of fuck with that idea. Right now the idea of going back leaves me cold inside.

freneticfox · 16/04/2015 15:44

Lancs I feel the same about work. Trying not to think about it though..

Doing a newborn floatation class on Sunday. Really excited!

GeekyHybrid · 16/04/2015 18:42

honey we may not have much choice about LO being an only child. I'm 39 now and it took long enough to conceive this one. But we'll see what fate brings Shock We'd got to the stage where we didn't think parenthood was meant to be for us!
Lancs There's loads of rules about what they can and can't change whilst you're on leave and it sounds like your head is taking the proverbial. Chat to your union!
If you'd asked me before he arrived I'd of said definitely going back FT. Now I'm already thinking PT might be better Confused

Memphisbelly · 16/04/2015 18:48

Honey I always imagined 2, my pregnancy was horrid, birth scared me to death yet he is so lovely I could have a 3rd. Lots of reasons not to so dh has got his consultation for his snip in may and dont know how lng it is until he will get a date for op.

tonightsthekindofnight · 16/04/2015 20:02

We hoped/planned for three and here we are with four....Eek!!!! I think although it might be financially hard and emotionally draining I am delighted to be a mum of four. Both me and oh are one of four so it's what we know!

I went into work this afternoon for a meeting just to keep up to speed with some developments. Don't plan on returning until Jan next year though. Can't really expect my wonderful mil to take all three girls together before then. Although she has bought a quad buggy already. Today went well, was really nice to get a break but my boobs totally leaked everywhere. And annoyingly the twins slept for the full three hours I was away, they have never done that for me! And my eldest went straight to his drumming lesson from school. Husband thinks it's a piece of cake now, grrrr!!

Addictedtocustardcreams · 16/04/2015 20:42

Defo stopping at two here. Just feel this is right for us. Am enjoying the baby bit more this time but don't think I am naturally a baby person & can't imagine doing this again. me &'DH both have 1 sibling so I think that is an influence too.
