throughout? *slept though

Addictedtocustardcreams · 13/04/2015 19:45

Well I don't want to depress anyone too much but my 2 year old still doesn't sleep through! If anyone has any clever ideas do let me know. I think you just adapt to broken sleep over time. Plus think it is easier when they just wake you up briefly & you are back to sleep soon compared to being kept up for a while. Think this is why I feel better with DS than I did with DD as he has me up as often but for much less time.

Honeybird · 13/04/2015 20:05

Mmm, my first didn't sleep through til he was 4... Second is 2 and manages about 50/50. But I've found it much easier to deal with than I expected. Not fun, just not as bad as I thought!

Honeybird · 13/04/2015 20:06

Had baby acne here from 6 to 8 weeks, now we're doing cradle cap...

GeekyHybrid · 13/04/2015 21:06

honey we've got a bit of cradle cap too. What are you putting on it?

We're trying to get a bit of a bedtime routine going. Bath, sleep suit, feed, bed. Except, even though he's yawned and rubbed his eyes, he won't settle down and is feeding, again. Am I doing anything wrong? Confused

Memphisbelly · 13/04/2015 21:37

My first didn't sleep through until 3, liiterally only did around 5 times in 3 years 3-4 times a night. LO already sleeps better than him waking at 1.30 and 5 ish each night, im happy with that even if it doesn't improve for a while, I still feel like im rested.....
That is how bad ds1 was that I think this is good Grin

I put both boys to bed at 8, feels weird not having baby down here. Dh is away, I have been doing jobs, I need to take LO to work with me for a few hours tomorrow....this means I go to work while mum takes baby to see everyone Grin

wowmumof4 · 13/04/2015 21:52

Hi I have been following you all for a while and wondered if I could join you all in your journey with your little ones. I had a little girl on 17th February after 3 boys. You would think that with her being my 4th I would know what I'm doing but I think because there is almost a 5 year gap between her and the youngest boy I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. I seem to question everything this time far more than with the others and I'm not sure why. Any way it's been lovely reading here knowing you are exeriencing similar things to me and my lo.

donkir · 13/04/2015 21:58

Ffs I have lo every night and do every feed while oh gets a full nights sleep. I get a break once a week if I'm lucky. Tonight is my break night as I'm starting work tomorrow (taking lo with me) and all oh has done is whinge and moan about how lo won't settle, his backs hurting, he's tired ect ect! I have offered to help even saying I'll have him with me just to get my head bitten off. So I've taken myself to bed and put ear plugs in. Phew sorry for rant but it was that it shout at oh in front of lo.

tweety89 · 13/04/2015 23:29

Welcome wow. Wow indeed! After 3 boys having the courage to try for the girl! :) Congratulations.

Totally agree that not all babies will be sleeping through within the next few months. I only said that it gets better. Grin I have a friend with a 4-year-old (he's going to be 5 in September) that still wakes up at least twice during the night. Depends on the approach, on the type of baby and on other random reasons too.

You guys are so brave returning to work so quickly. With all this sleep deprivation, had I been offered the job, I wouldn't have passed my probation period!

tiredvommachine · 14/04/2015 01:45

Hi wow, PM me if you like and I'll send you link for the FB group which most of us are on too Smile

Donkir- that sucks, bless you.
I'm so lucky with my DH. Enjoy your sleep.
Dig in deep everybody else!
First feed of the night done and just letting it go down.

BanglesSpangles · 14/04/2015 09:26

Morning all, time for jabs take two- no cold now so hopefully they'll give them to him today! And then I'm hoping for a picnic in the park but LO is being super fussy today so will have to see how we go!

tiredvommachine · 14/04/2015 09:53

Hope it goes well Spangles.
I've a sneezy,snuffly, grumpy baby today.
Meh.

tweety89 · 14/04/2015 11:01

I'm taking the pram to the children's centre to get him weighed today (it's 2.2 miles away so I'll be exercising for the first time! :D Should I eat a bit more then? Hmm) and I want the HV to check his nappy rash again. I know what she's going to say. That we need to see the GP. Well, he's going to be seen for the third time tomorrow by the GP as canesten didn't work, bactroban which is for bacterial infections worked really well until Monday and then he started the poonamis and his bum looks like some little monkey's red bum! Bless him, he must be quite sore and this might be one of the reasons he's not sleeping well during the night. He wakes up screaming as he's having a poo twice or three times during the night and he's definitely not hungry now (we're back to 36 ounces a day).

Oh! Have I said how much I love all white noises in the house? Hoover, washing machine, extractor fan...LO can sleep under the extractor fan for a looong time.

LancashireTea · 14/04/2015 12:42

I think my lo wants to be permanently attached to the boob today. Have got nothing done and she's clearly exhausted but will not sleep.
Hope it goes well Bangles.
Tweety hope they sort you out.

Grinningcat · 14/04/2015 14:40

Thanks all for your reassurances re the acne.

Used the perfect prep machine for the first time last night. Brilliant. We have it on the stairs where we have a corner shelf with plug socket that could have been made for it. Just need to teach DH to use it now...

GeekyHybrid · 14/04/2015 14:49

donkir I hope your first day at work is going well - I'd of killed my OH by now if he behaved like yours ;-D
Lancs I feel your pain. I also seem to have a fussy baby again. I took 2 hours to get him down last night, he did manage to go to 12.30 ish, then 4.30 ish then up at 6.30. For both the night feeds I felt really dizzy and nauseous. He's been feeding ever hour or so today, he's so tired now but won't go to sleep, he's whining on my shoulder as I type :-/ The only peace I've had is when we went out for a walk, may go out for another at this rate!

Memphisbelly · 14/04/2015 16:17

Donkir how did your first day back go? I agree with geeky your oh doesn't know how lucky he is to have you I would have kicked his arse into next week if he was mineGrin

I went to work today with Lo he was good as gold only meant to stay for an hour but stayed for four, he cooed and smiled at the customers and didn't winge all day, he clearly loved all the attention, he loves being outside and it was nice weather so it was fab.

Lo and ds1 didn't sleep last night (sods law after talking of routines yesterday) lo had a vit of a temp and ds had nightmare after nightmare so I got about an hours kip, shattered now and have a full day at work tomorrow and no dh to help

Mimosa1 · 14/04/2015 17:32

Good luck to those starting work again :-)
I'm going back in July but not looking forward to it after a glorious day in the park today enjoying the sun!

Emmie10 · 14/04/2015 19:20

Seriously impressed with some of you managing to juggle being back at work already! My baby brain would make me pretty useless I think! I don't plan to go back until January although might need to go back sooner depending on finances.

donkir · 14/04/2015 20:12

It was really nice being back at work. The boys I look after were great with lo. I'm hoping being back around friends and my usual baby/toddler groups will help with my PND.
I'm shattered so it's bath and bed for me and fingers crossed lo sleeps until at 3.

Memphisbelly · 14/04/2015 21:37

Donkir glad it went ok, i bet once you get back to normalilty at geoups with your friends you sill feel loads better and more supported.

GeekyHybrid · 14/04/2015 21:58

Glad it went well for you today donkir.
memphis I hope you get more sleep tonight. Isn't funny how they can be all cute and easy going for hours in public?!

There's been no let up here. He's been feeding every hour to hour and a half all day, at one point he was latched for almost 2 hours non stop Shock I ended up putting him in the papoose to get the laundry in and dinner on though he was head butting my chest most of the time. He fell asleep 10mins before OH got home and managed to put him down to eat dinner (awake again!) but bar being in the bath he's been feeding since. I just hope he'll sleep at some point, I mean it's not like he's slept more than a few minutes here and there since our walk Confused

tweety89 · 14/04/2015 22:27

Very glad it went well donkir.
I have to agree with emmie here. Well done to all of you starting work again.
I hope it gets better soon geeky. I had a similar experience with DD and started expressing twice a day so that I could make sure that the 10am and the 7pm feeds were enough for her to sleep well in between. It was quite a good trick.

freneticfox · 14/04/2015 22:49

Emmie, I couldn't imagine being back at work either, though not just through exhaustion!

Trying a bottle of formula tonight, in desperation. We're both so sleep deprived it's getting us both down. Though we followed the guide table and he's only had half a bottle before deciding he's done.

I'm so desperate for him to go longer than 90mins at a time overnight :'(

blankfornames · 14/04/2015 23:10

Geeky and Lanc, sounds like you both are going through what Im just getting out of...a growth spurt. Damn are they hard. My poor nips dont know what's going on. You'll be pleased to hear..after a horrendous 3 day spurt...he slept for most of today! Lets hope it rolls into 2night also!!
