tired I've been eating chocolate every day since he was born so wouldn't notice if it had an effect or not Grin I also drink quite a bit of tea. The only thing I 'avoid' is proper coffee in the evening but I probably should have done that years ago Shock Just as an aside, as I'm typing this I'm thinking there's AA, narcs anon etc but no group for caffeine / sugar addicts Grin

tweety89 · 12/04/2015 08:47

We tried DTD last Friday but for some reason (elcs here) it was hurting me a bit. And then I remembered that last time we didn't manage to DTD for a while as I was hurting again (emcs then). I had gone to a specialist and had an internal (rather painful) scan done but in the end it was all psychological and manage to do it for the first time about 6 months later. I'm sure PND didn't help (or maybe this didn't help my PND? Hmm)

Knackered. LO decided that he didn't want his dream feed again and woke up at 2am and 5am instead.
donkir can you pls send me the link to the fb group?

tweety89 · 12/04/2015 08:56

geeky I've thought about this many times! When I decided to cut down caffeine for my DD I was getting horrible headaches and was quite relieved when I had my coffee back. With sugar it's even worse...I basically exercise a lot so that I can have a lot of chocolate (and marshmellows and cakes and pastries!). Blush
tired when I was ebf'ing my DD, as I was eating a lot of sugar and chocolate all of the time (like geeky) and while I was pregnat, I never noticed any change. However, I did try to limit my coffee intake to two coffees a day (one caf and one decaf) as it did affect her sleeping patterns. Or I was expressing and drinking coffee immediately (I did the same with my bubbly! :D). As I said, I love my coffee, used to drink 6 short and very strong espressos a day before I got pregnant with DD. Nowadays I might have 4 but 2 of them will be decaf so I'm not that bad...(she says)

donkir · 12/04/2015 10:07

Tweety sent you a pm.

tiredvommachine · 12/04/2015 12:27

Thanks for all of the input, I think I'll try and knock the chocolate on the head (lard arse anyway so won't hurt) and go back to caffeine free tea and see if it helps.
It might be pie in the sky but I'm desperate to try and make a difference to LO's sleeping.
it's not so much a problem getting him to sleep at night but getting him to stay asleep for longer than three hours is the holy grail (and losing this extra stone I'm carrying Cake)

freneticfox · 12/04/2015 14:02

The thought of giving up chocolate AND coffee? Man.. THAT wasn't in the baby manual.

Hoping to get the implant in the next couple of weeks, it's what I had before I was pregnant. Until then it's condoms. Most definitely NOT wanting any accidents! Although I think it will take a while for me to feel confident in bed, the CS has made things a bit sore!

LancashireTea · 12/04/2015 14:20

I've had to give up the choc and caffeine to make sure my Lo sleeps. It seems to be working. And hopefully it will eventually help with the reflux.
Saying that, I took her with me when I went out for a friend's 30th birthday meal last night. She was brilliant and didn't fuss at all. Gave her a bottle of expressed b milk and she kept most of it down (greedy girl had about 5 oz!). Just as we were leaving she got hungry again and cried for the entire drive home. Fed her as soon as we got in... She gobbled and gobbled. So I spent ages winding her.

Clearly not for long enough. Cue a fountain of vom all over me, my pillow and the bed. Cue me swearing, lo being plonked in her bouncer and me stripping the bed at midnight. OH rolls in half an hour later, ratarsed, and find the whole thing hilarious. He then swanned off to kip on the couch.

Made it up to me when she went down her her nap earlier. WinkBlush

LancashireTea · 12/04/2015 14:30

*for her nap

GeekyHybrid · 12/04/2015 14:51

tweety - I think I get away with all the chocolate and cake etc because of my job. As a gardener I spend most of my days being very physical, bf is obviously helping whilst I'm not at work and I think it really helps not giving a flying about ones weight. My pre pregnancy BMI was 26, I'm an 'older' mum but the mw & hv's all agree that I'm probably fitter than many of the mums who are 15 years younger Grin

Memphisbelly · 12/04/2015 20:29

Must be a mine field for you breast feeding mummy's trying to work out what you can eat. I had to give up coffee and cafinated tea when pg due to my heart condition but have only had about 4 coffees since he was born, while pg it was hell but now I don't fancy it apart from the odd costa.

Today we went to Bicester village for first time, I got my new watch and a purse, no money left in the purse though Grin LO was good as gold and is now fast asleep, ds1 is back to school tomorrow then we have the docs for LO for a referal to hospital about his balls. Been having majot worries about if they operate as ds1 had a general when he was 3 and it was awful so dreading if they do it to LO

Grinningcat · 12/04/2015 20:38

Not DTD here as far too knackered with LO and DH has crohn's as well so he is also okay with just concentrating on sleeping! Saw a nurse about getting an IUS coil fitted though. Definitely don't want LO to have any little brothers or sisters just yet Grin.

Re ebf as a contraceptive, the midwife at our antenatal class also said it could be used and I have a leaflet from my Bounty pack that says the same. I had to chip in at my antenatal class to say what rubbish. I have a 'friend' who got pregnant almost immediately while ebf and now has 2dc under 2. Amazingly that same 'friend' writes an online parenting blog and plans to write a parenting book despite believing this and also not knowing what mastitis is (another story entirely)... Shock.

Grinningcat · 12/04/2015 20:43

Had a lovely morning as DPIL babysat so DH and I could go for breakfast. That's the first time we've left him and it was liberating. Was nice to go back to him although we only left him an hour, but it was so nice just to be able to take my handbag and not all the other stuff.

Off to get DS's hips ultrasounded tomorrow on account of the ECV I had to turn him from the breech position. It's just routine and I had no doubts all will be fine judging by the amount of kicking and wiggling he does.

tonightsthekindofnight · 12/04/2015 21:05

I have had the implant fitted immediately as I think 3 under 2 is enough for anyone!! I conceived the twins whilst bf my daughter. Thought we were being careful!! They won't let my oh have the snip till the girls are 6 months or he'd have been done!!

As for avoiding foods, the girls seem uncomfortable when I have had onions/garlic/anything spicy so I am going plain plain plain! Hubby makes my packed lunch and won't even allow pickle in my sarnies. Fortunately chocolate doesn't seem to make a difference (said as I scoff another of the kids easter eggs!!)

My eldest is back at school tomorrow and I'm not sure what to do with myself. Have loved his company the past 2 weeks and poonamis seem easier to deal with when you have a six year old giggling away!

tweety89 · 12/04/2015 21:21

Had a terrible night last night, about 3 hours of broken sleep, so I'm off to bed. I believe that by 9.30pm I will be snoring! Grin
Decided to drop the frigging dream feed (no reason for it) and just realx and hope for the best. Have a lovely evening.

Memphisbelly · 12/04/2015 22:15

Good luck tweety

Tonights we were told its 6 months for the snip also but then said if he was sure thrn they would refer before it just means someone else sitting in on consultation to asess if they think he is sure its what he wants.

I have always wanted two, ds1 i got bad pnd and this time I was sure I would be ill but I am not, I know I cannot have another baby due to my health, we cant afford another and I would have to give up on nights out andwork as mum couldnt cope with 3 but I now have this urge for another as LO is so lovely.....dh needs the snip asap so this problem is sorted for me Grin

Grinningcat · 12/04/2015 22:47

Does or has anyone's DC had spots/acne around the 6 week Mark? My LO has developed loads of spots on his face, neck and upper chest over the last week. The gp saw them at his 6 week check and wasn't concerned and the HV told me over the phone they were not Uncommon at thIs age due to the sebaceous glands starting to produce oils. The Internet says the same thing and he is otherwise well, but I wondered if anyone else had the same thing and if you did anything to treat/sooth them?

blankfornames · 12/04/2015 22:55

Hi Grinning. Yes DS had them. Like a jnr dose of acne. Apparently it's your hormones coming out in them. DS had thrm for a week then dissappeared. I cleaned his face using cooled boiled water on a cotton bud. Hope this helps!

MrsCorr · 12/04/2015 23:53

I just used cotton wool & water & it went away in a few days. Ds's skin was a bit rough after the spots cleared but a wee drop of Vaseline sorted that out.

tiredvommachine · 13/04/2015 00:57

We also had the spots but all gone now with no intervention.
Am doing first feed of the night..
LO slept three hours after taking nearly two to go down after his bath.
Hope is a peaceful night for all Flowers

GeekyHybrid · 13/04/2015 02:18

grinning we had spots at birth, they went, reappeared at around 4 weeks and went again after a couple of weeks. My friends 4 year old was fascinated by them and wanted to know why he was spotty. Needless to say 'because' did not suffice Shock
I've just finished what I hope will be our only feed, we're doing a bit of propping up and then it's bed ready for our busy day - hopefully 1st swimming session, hv and boiler service.

tiredvommachine · 13/04/2015 03:44

Second feed of the night.
Got Ewan playing away on overtime tonight but LO literally laughs in his face.

GeekyHybrid · 13/04/2015 04:44

second feed here. So tired my eyes keep closing

blankfornames · 13/04/2015 07:24

Third feed here...was awake at one stage for two and a half hours. He has to be fully asleep before we can transfer him into the crib but he was having none of it. I don't think his sleeping is improving with weeks that pass. He's 7 weeks and got two stints of 2 and half hours. Should be sleeping more. He woke up this.morning and screamed so loudly that I thought something was wrong with him. Turned out to be hunger. He has been cluster feeding since 9pm on Saturday night and by the looks of things this morning..he still is. Yday was a nightmare. I could barely move off the couch without him bawling. Dh can't comfort him at all as all he wants is the boob.
Can cluster feeding last 2 days?

OP posts:
LancashireTea · 13/04/2015 10:11

We've had spots for weeks with no sign of them stopping. And as for sleep... I can't see madam sleeping through for ages. She's just too greedy. This morning I prised her off the boob after 45 mins. She then cried on and off till I put her down for a sleep 5 mins ago.
Today's plan is wash up and wait forr Ocado to arrive. We were too lazy to go to Morrisons yesterday and Ocado us cheaper than Tesco for our shopping.
I need to ring the docs re our 6 week appt that they don't do here till after they've been seen by the hV. Lo is 7 weeks tomorrow and hv isn't coming till Friday. Hmm
I need my appt too but I hate hate hate the docs. Sad

tweety89 · 13/04/2015 16:41

grinning LO had spots between 5 and 6 weeks, GP and HV not concerned at all and I didn't even realise they were gone until somebody with a 5-week-old baby told me that LO's face was so smooth whereas theirs had acne!
blanks lancashire when I had DD I thought that I was never going to sleep again as she was feeding a lot and quickly every 1.5 hours around the clock. It didn't last for that long but the first night she slept throughout the night OH woke me up to feed her it was like music to my ears (peace and quiet..! Boobs were hurting a lot of course!!) It does get better.

Last feed yesterday evening at 7.30pm and then he was up at midnight (4.5 hours, not that bad) but then woke up at 2.30 and every 15 minutes until...5.40 when I finally fed him. Luckily the cot bed is next to me and I don't have to stand up or wake up for that matter! Ewan and dummy did the trick, but I had do this as he's starting to get mixed up and sleeps longer between the daytime feeds. Hopefully this will help me him sleep tonight.
