Enjoy the swimming KitKat. A loves swimming, but he has had very runny nappies since Sunday, so I can't take him tomorrow Sad

I took him to the docs about it, but he his still eating his milk so he is not getting dehydrated, and they said he was fine. He isn't himself though. Is not going to bed very easily (11pm lying on me last night) and has been up since 5.30 today. Definitely makes me appreciate how good he normally is at night!

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2015 11:25

itKat - I wonder what would have happened if you'd have fed at 4.15am upon first waking?

Team - sleeping in your bed is no less going to unsettle her night times as is napping in your arms in a chair. You might as well be comfy in your own bed.

Sounds like your LO is transitioning from shorter frequent naps in the daytime to just two. It takes a bit of jiggling to lengthen the naps, but its natural development. I aim for 9.30am and 12.30pm naps

Cumbrian - Sorry to hear about As runny nappies, hope he's better soon.

I gave DD three proper meals yesterday for the first time. She had the full amount of milk she normally has plus demanded an extra bottle at 2.30pm, when she's never had a bottle. I seemed to spend the whole day feeding her so was so hungry all day long! Because she's had so much, I decided not to wake her for the feed when I go to bed, took a bottle with me instead for when she woke in the night.

But (whispers) we got 8pm-7am sleep last night without a wake or feed Grin I expect it's probably a just fluke. Last time we got a full night was before the 4 month regression hit. She's been ravenously hungry this morning too. Don't know what's up with her but definitely found an appetite that she didn't have before.

TeamEponine · 18/03/2015 12:47

Oh fate, a full nights sleep! Yay!!!

I think you're right, coming into our bed probably wouldn't be different to her sleeping on me. There's still the problem of disturbing DH though. If he wasn't up helping me every night then I'd not worry too much about that, but when he's staying up late every night, I really feel like I need to let him get some sleep Confused

At some point I'm hoping she will just miraculously sleep past 4am on her own...

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2015 12:56

What's he actually doing with her until 12pm?

If it was me and DH, we'd probably both go to bed early. DH still gets disturbed by me sorting out the baby, but at least he gets an early night to make up for the disturbed nights. If you've just got a 9/10pm feed I'd just both go to bed after that one.

Disturbed nights are part and parcel of having a baby and your DH does indeed have a baby.

TeamEponine · 18/03/2015 13:33

For both of us we are not too good at getting back to sleep if we wake up, so he'll sometimes doze a bit, but if he got into a deep sleep and then got up to feed her he'd be up all night. Sometimes he will stay up and work through til 2am so he can take the weekend off and spend time with us.

I'm similar with my sleep unfortunately. Given we both have sleep issues we figured we would have a tough time sleep wise. When we had DD. It sounds crazy, but what works for us is to split the night in two, so we each get a good six hours, then doze a bit in the other six hours when we take over feeding or settling DD when needed. At the moment she is still feeding three times through the night. It isn't ideal, but we are working on it, and we are slowly getting better.

Acorncat · 18/03/2015 13:33

I still have mine in bed with me, don't think it disturbs DH as he snuggles right up to me (the baby, not the husband!). I don't think DH would even notice if he was in the cot or in the bed if he didn't come to bed after me. Though last night DS woke up slightly and was starting to cry a bit and wouldn't jiggle or feed back to sleep so I put him on my pillow while I sat up to get his medicine and he went straight back to sleep. Of course cos he was on my pillow I couldn't just go to sleep incase he suffocated! I think my sleeping cuddles might be coming to an end.

holls2000 · 18/03/2015 15:34

Oh, sleep. We had a weird one last night. I went up to bed at 10.30 and B was wide awake! So I offered a bottle and he slept through to 5.15 and then he lay in his cot singing for A WHOLE BLOODY HOUR!!!!!! He then went back to sleep from 6.15-7.15. So….I take from this that he isn't getting enough food - he certainly isn't taking as much milk - around 500-600ml a day, now that we are on 3 meals. He has a massive bowl of porridge with fruit at breakfast, then has an annabel karmel sized portion at lunch with 2 fruit puree for pud, and the same at 5pm. Tempted to try a bowl of porridge at supper time to fill him up. Now he is on meals, how much is he supposed to have???????

Is there such a thing as the 6.5 month sleep regression? He used to go to bed and self settle so easily, but for the last three nights we have had screaming as soon as he gets to the cot. Ended up bringing him down the last two nights, and its looking like DH will be doing the same tonight Sad

We haven't changed his routine, and he is only 'trying' foods at 3pm so I shouldn't think that would be affecting his bed time. I am putting it down to him being slighly off colour, hoping that is what it is anyway!

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2015 21:55

Cumbrian - is DSs milk intake reducing due to the solids?

Holls - My DD has been doing the periods of awake happy time in the middle of the night recently too. Not crying or grumbling. Just peering at me, smiling, laughing, gurgling. Difficult to ignore because she's so damn cute!

I have put it down to hear being ready for solids and that she needed more daytime calories.

ApplesTheHare · 18/03/2015 22:00

Is it me or is this new thread a littke bit quiet, as if people haven't been able to find it? There seem to be some noticeable absences - e.g. Red?

ApplesTheHare · 18/03/2015 22:00

*little

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2015 22:17

The October thread is quiet too (I'm on both, late September baby). Maybe it's just the time of year. Maybe everyone is spring cleaning and not online Grin

ApplesTheHare · 18/03/2015 22:24

God I wish I could find the motivation to Spring clean. I was fantasising today about asking our cleaner to do itGrin

Nazly · 18/03/2015 22:57

Looking to book a beach holiday for summer (ds first birthday) , I am not having much success using google ; want to go to a baby friendly beach in Turkey ... Not sure how/where to find info.
Post baby, searching is a lot more difficult, as I am either busy or too tired to spend long online :( how would you go about finding some info ?

TeamEponine · 19/03/2015 05:41

I wonder if some people have missed the new thread as we accidentally filled the old one before linking to the new one?

Nazly, maybe post on the holidays board on here? You can't beat a personal recommendation. How is your DS getting on at nursery now?

holls2000 · 19/03/2015 07:08

oh god please help.
I have had 3 hrs sleep.
b woke at 1 so I thought I would give a bottle and see if that settled him. it did - at 2.30. then he was awake again betwren 5-6.30 and now he is up and ready to go. I could cry. what am I doing wrong?????

OP posts:
holls2000 · 19/03/2015 07:45

also the new thread does say sept 2014 Grin . I think red said she was taking a break.

OP posts:
KitKat1985 · 19/03/2015 07:52

Haha definitely no spring cleaning motivation here! Lol! I think Red is probably taking a deliberate break from this thread. I saw her post in AIBU the other day and I contemplated sending her a PM but thought that actually if she wants a break she probably doesn't want PMs either.

Holls could it just be a fluke bad night? Or is a consistent thing?

Nazly we're going to Majorca in June. We have perpusefully picked a Thomson family place as you can hire sterilisers, high chairs etc from them and the locations are all good for families. May be worth looking at what family resorts they have in Turkey? x

CumbrianExile · 19/03/2015 08:11

Fate no drop in milk. He's not really eating any solids. I tend to get one tiny spoon in and then he pulls faces, cries and refuses more!

ApplesTheHare · 19/03/2015 09:44

Ah KitKat I missed that Red was on a break.

Holls how old is B now?

Thanks for mentioning holidays Nazly, reminds me that I meant to ask those of you who have already been away with babies what your top travel/holiday tips are? We've done weekends away with DD but we're off to France for a few weeks in May so I need to get my act together!

Zanashar · 19/03/2015 09:51

Nazly, we are possibly be looking here for our holiday in September :
www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/turkey/turkey-dalaman/fethiye/hotels/sensatori-resort-fethiye.html
I've been to Olu Deniz and it was lovely, and we visited Fethiye whilst there.

Holls, hope your bad night was a one off. We've two more nights until the move to her room ( but she been managing daytime naps in her cotbed), so preparing for some unsettled nights Confused

I was looking through (and moving from phone to laptop to free up space) pics from birth to now and she's changed so much!!
Had a weighing on Tuesday and she's now almost upto 75th centile the little chunk.

Oh and DH nearly burned the house down last night by leaving the grill on after cooking dinner. The bacon fat in the tray caught fire. He panicked whilst I calmly turned the grill off and shut the grill door to starve the fire of oxygen. He felt a right muppet I think so I wasn't too harsh on him.

lilone1234 · 19/03/2015 10:25

Nazly aren't you at center parcs now? You should never want to go anywhere else again! Maybe that's just me. I want to go back!

We've been weaning since Saturday and we've had baby rice, carrot, sweet potato, apple and pear. I'm not sure DD has actually swallowed any, i'm sure anything that gets in her mouth manages to then dribble down her chin! I've heard banana is popular so i'm trying that today. She doesn't seem bothered by it either way!

She's rolling all over the place now and has suddenly started sitting up really well. Don't think it will be long til crawling. We have decided she needs to move in to her own room soon so need to get myself a baby monitor. We have both said we would like a video one, any recommendations?
