Half terms have lost the charm of reliving my students days. Confused Staying in bed til noon. Lunch dates.

Day one of half term:

Went to the shop and half way though packing the bags realised I had forgotten my wallet.

Posted a letter without a stamp on it.

DS cried pretty much all the time when we were indoors. The only time he wasn't crying DD1 and E argued resulting in E crying. I then shouted at DD1 which led to her crying.

On the plus side the girls are now in bed, Ds is happily asleep on me but you can't have it all and I have galaxy.

Roll on tomorrow.

We're on week 2 of half term here. LO at nursery as usual so DD1 hanging out with me, loving the attention and generally having some quality one on one time.

Evening all :)

I did some choklit munching and it does make the world seem that little bit better :) Choklit tinted glasses, methinks.

eliza ah bum, i'll have to try to remember to keep an eye out for it

glad you had a good time at the circus gg. I like the seeing of the animals but I would much prefer to see them in their natural habitat, or something as close to it as possible - most of the circus sounds like a blast, though!

hope you feel better soon zamboni

I forgot it was half term until I nipped over to my mums earlier with E - i forget these things now I don't live there and have children of school age. My mums face said it all, though, she had survived half term day one lol!

bless you eliza hope tomorrow is a better one!!

Ah that's nice gg. I feel a bit bad for my DD1 as she is the one who is missing out on my time really. As she's normally at school I feel like I'm constantly snapping at her to either hurry up and get her uniform, or eat dinner or get pjs on and get to bed. God knows when she'll get some one on one time with me. But then actually given the choice she'd rather spend her time with DH anyway so I don't think she's that fussed.

She'll have a good day tomorrow anyway as we are off to a frozen pop up experience. God knows what it's going to be like. Hell I expect.

Nothing wrong with a wee choklit munch to help ease the misery kyz! I am not surprised things like half term go out of your head - you have quite enough to think about!

That sounds blissful gg. I bet dd1 is loving it.

Delayed at the airport. With heavy bags and small boy. Just a trip to the loo is an expedition.

Yup. Hope you are home safe and sound.

P has lots of green gunk coming out of one eye. Her eye ball seems ok and not irritating her but the gunk is pretty thick and green. I cannot cannot cannot have more time off work!!!! Having no family near bye is proving very hard this year

Sympaties pass I was off sick anyway last year but we calculated we would have had to use 6weeks leave between us from 2013-14 autumn winter, mainly with minor things like eye gunk.

TheRealGracePoole · 17/02/2015 20:30

Ahh poor old P it is just because they can't blow their nose and the snot has nowhere else to go.

Home safe.

On the subject of loos.

The best thing about coming home is your own loo.

Yeah baby.

My own loo.

Report
Passmethecrisps · 17/02/2015 20:53

My bottom is never happier than when it is parked on my own loo!

I really hope it is just overflow of snot and not conjunctivitus. DH had it weeks ago but it cleared up. Just as his cleared up there was a sign up at nursery saying they had a case. I have been off more in the last 2 months than in my previous 15 years. And it is wonderful that I don't have to take holidays as i can't either the way teaching works but I feel like i am placing such a burden on everyone else.

You can't beat your own loo or your own bed.

Sorry to hear of gunk pass.

Well the Frozen experience was an experience. The girls had a ball but it was absolutely manic. Good fun though. There was a paddling pool filled with fake snow which they loved. Was very wet!

So day 2 a success but I did have a shouty moment this morning while trying to leave the house. I'm getting too quick to snap at them. Not sure why. I need to do some deep breathing I think. I hate shouting and feel annoyed with myself after. I don't want to be a horrible shouty mother.

I get shouty when I don't get enough sleep Eliza, maybe that's all it is?

Evening all :)

Had one of those days today, and it ain't over yet, typically E has decided to play up a bit tonight and I keep having to go back upstairs to him :(

My brother and his friend were involved in an accident earlier, brother on the back of friends motorbike - they were completely not in the wrong, and both are fine, just superficial wounds really. Bit shaken up but ok. Mum went with them to the urgent care centre so I had both E's for the afternoon/evening and it was very busy/hard work with the both of them, pup, and doing tea etc. DP was off collecting the motorbike and whatnot and gosh, I am just so tired! Glad bro and friend are ok though, is main thing.

glad the frozen experience was enjoyed eliza

bless her pass hope the gunk clears up soon!

glad you are home safe grace, your own loo is a very comforting thing I find. I sort of struggled with a new loo when we moved out Blush

eliza I think you can forgive the odd bit of shouty right now, don't you? have a hug or two :)

Report
Elizadoesdolittle · 18/02/2015 21:14

Gosh kyz what a day! have a hug yourself. very glad everyone is ok. xx

Thanks all. Held it together better today. I've identified the key things that get me up tight. Main one is trying to get out of the house. One of them always does something ridiculous just at the point we are ready to go. Yesterday E covered herself in pen a la gg girls. I didn't find it amusing though Blush DD1 lost her shoes that were on her feet at the point of putting coats on. I found them later in my bedroom. She still can't explain how they got there. Anyway I will just have to give myself even more time as I hate being late so that can stress me out.

Eliza exasperation at how bloody long it can take us to leave the house is my shouty mummy pinch point too! The other day I changed FIVE nappies before we managed to get out the door. I was in such a rush I kept assuming they'd finished and change them mid flow Envy .

Report
YellowWellies · 19/02/2015 04:51

Exasperation at the snail's pace at which we leave the house is the key trigger for me being shouty and banging my head against hard surfaces too Eliza.
