Just so we all feel at home

Yes...

Passmethecrisps · 30/03/2015 21:17

Yes! Making Thai salmon fish cakes for supper. One of those joyous occasions when you have exactly what you need in the cupboards!

Sounds delicious pass. I have had dinner but I could easily make room for one of those.

I'm watching the game of thrones greatest 20 moments. lots of gruesome deaths. can't wait for season 5.

Passmethecrisps · 30/03/2015 22:44

They were really good. Shall def put them on the regular dinner rota.

I have caved and finally ordered GoT from love film. I haven't seen any of it but everyone else in the whole world can't be wrong surely

Pass I have been reading and watching GoT since last summer, I got so annoyed with the first book but then I felt like I needed to know what will happen. I must say I enjoyed the TV series more than the books... Although still ploughing on with both for some reason.

The first couple of episodes are not great and there is a lot of misogyny and nakedness (male and female) but some really good characters and plot lines. I find it infuriating and compelling in equal measure.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 30/03/2015 23:01

I really didn't get into GoT.

YellowWellies · 31/03/2015 05:32

GoT is AMAZING!!!!! Ignore the fact the first few episodes are a bit soft porn (to hook the US male audience so the rumour goes!), its fantastic. You know I'm a shouty feminist - its great honest. I'm so envious of anyone starting out watching it. We're desperately waiting for the next series. Sadly its out first on Sky and we won't have anything from Murdoch in the house so have to wait til late summer. Ayeeee torture. Pass could you share your Thai fishcake recipe on FB please?

MsJupiter · 31/03/2015 06:46

Ha we are the same YW. We're on a waiting list for the DVD of series 4 at the library!

StuntNun · 31/03/2015 09:39

I didn't get into GoT at all. I watched the first season but the first episode of the second season put me right off with Littlefinger's gratuitous lesbian sex scene. There's so much sex in the books already, why make up even more? It made me feel that it was being written by a hormonal teenage boy. I also thought the casting was completely off, especially the confusion between exactly which characters were supposed to be from the North and the South. Stannis, Renly and Davos Seaworth were badly cast and they could have done with a more flexible actor for Cersei seeing as in the books she has sex with just about everybody which causes a problem when the actor has a no nude scenes policy. Anyway everyone else seems to like it!

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/03/2015 12:28

I bloody love it. The last series was absolutly fantastic. There are some very strong female characters. I've not read any of the books though so can't comment on those. I think I'd find them too confusing.

It's soooo windy here. panels of my fence are dropping left right and centre. Off to take DD1 to the local bakers for a cake making work shop. Me and E will sit the other side and eat cake Smile

Zamboni · 31/03/2015 19:33

Love Jon snow GoT but the violence and sex can be a bit much except when involving Jon snow. Also enjoying Poldark ATM, anyone else watching? And am also getting really into Battlestar Galactica as it came up on my netflix recommendations - some good female characters in that too. Have become a scifi nerd!

So is anyone doing anything nice for Easter? We are visiting family, having traditional Easter BBQ en mass which usually involves my DOD on his own in the rain cooking outside. Smile

StuntNun · 31/03/2015 20:35

I have sneaked ebm into J's bedtime bottles the last couple of evenings and I feel vaguely naughty for doing so. He's been having this awful diarrhoea for so long, and the probiotics don't seem to have made any difference to it. He is still eating some dairy though (fromage frais and cooked cheese) and I would like to keep up the mild exposure seeing as he is starting to get over his dairy intolerance. Here's hoping that breastmilk is a magic cure-all that will fix his gut problems.

Passmethecrisps · 31/03/2015 20:37

See if it was Jon snow off of the news then that might tickle my fancy.

The gratuitous shagging does put me off a bit but I should give it a go really.

Hehe pass

I think GoT could do with a bit more eye candy. I've just watched the first episode of Poldark zamboni and really enjoyed it. I was waiting to finish the musketeers before I started it. Now that is my guilty pleasure. Did anyone watch Indian Summer? I have that lined up but not sure if I should bother.

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/03/2015 20:58

Re Easter plans we are going to Kew Gardens and a nice pub after for roast with DH's brother and his wife. We don't see them that often so will be fun. Got other bits and bobs planned but that's our main thing.

MsJupiter · 31/03/2015 21:06

I have been watching Poldark. Obviously I am anti-objectification but blimey it actually makes me blush Blush

Zamboni · 31/03/2015 21:16

Oh yes it's all about content but the eye candy is a pleasant diversion.

Love the Musketeers too, got the series finale to watch tomorrow when DH works in the evening and I have the big tv to myself Smile

BigPigLittlePig · 31/03/2015 21:24

Haven't watched anything on TV for ages so am thoroughly out of he loop. Mum used to have all the Poldarks on video, back when I was a nipper Grin

Passmethecrisps · 31/03/2015 21:39

Last thing I watched on TV was bing. And then before that it was goggle box. That is my one telly prog of the week. I feel I am missing out.

The one telly moment I remember blushing at was mr darcy all wet having fallen in the pond. Made me go quite a fluster.

Talking about objectification one of my lessons today was about just that. We watched robin thyke's blurred lines and pitbull's timber. I had no idea that farm animals in the arms of naked ladies were quite so sexy. Last week for the same lesson another class suggested we watch nicki minaj's anaconda. That was a mistake.

Stunt is his an IgE dairy allergy? I know you can build tolerance to IgE mediated allergies but we've been told you can't build tolerance to a non IgE allergy - if they are still reacting then continued exposure to an allergen apparently just risks long term gut damage like colitis. Have you been told that you can build immunity to an IgE allergy? We've been advised that if he fails a challenge to remove dairy for 3-6 months. His behaviour and sleep goes to shit with dairy exposure and like your J he has diarrhoea too which would just make potty training impossible.

StuntNun · 31/03/2015 23:02

Hah YW the paediatrician refused to test him for anything and discharged him after a single appointment saying I seemed to know what I was doing. So we have no information at all. Still I had egg intolerance and potentially dairy intolerance and grew out of it. Looking back DS2 clearly had dairy intolerance too and has grown out of it now. So I think that having introduced a limited amount of dairy into J's diet and in the absence of more serious symptoms such as eczema, pain causing sleep problems etc. it's better to continue with the dairy he's already having but not to increase the quantity or move any further up the milk and the egg ladders for now. It all seems to be trial and error really. He certainly loads better than he used to be, some of the early trials were awful.

On the DS4 front I've been dairy-free since I went into labour and we don't have any signs of issues so far. I can't remember when problems started with J though since you kind of expect a newborn to cry a lot and not sleep. I don't think we realised there was an issue until he was about six months old. Regardless he is getting probiotics mixed into his milk once a day and I have been taking my probiotics too so hopefully his gut will be in good shape for our first dairy trial in a couple of weeks. I have my malted milk biscuits ready and waiting!

YellowWellies · 01/04/2015 03:58

Ah see we were told he'll likely outgrow it but that there's no evidence that adding milk to his diet will speed the process up given its not a histamine response that the body can develop antibodies to. Is he sleeping through now?

Lil's been symptom free - I cut dairy and soya on day 5 and is on daily probiotics. I've done a few soy trials - she's ok with me having occasional baked soya but wakes 5+ times a night with soy sauce in my diet. In the next month, now I know her guts sealed I'm going to trial sheep's cheese and if that's ok I'll start the formal dairy ladder the next month. She is such an amazing solids eater though I wonder if she might wean herself before I wean her.

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/04/2015 11:01

yw how do you know if it's ige or non ige? When she had the skin prick and patch test no allergies showed up. She used to get awful poos if she had any cows milk. I should be starting E on the milk ladder trial in the next couple of months.

pass I like google box too. Starting to think I watch too much tv but I quite enjoy being sofa pinned in the evenings by A. It's my only sitting down time. Disclaimer; I am sitting down now but it's on the stairs by the upstairs landing as A has just gone to sleep in my room and girls are actually playing well downstairs so don't want to disturb them. I'm also just wrapped in a towel as took the opportunity to jump in the shower. TMI!!

I'm taking DD1 to watch Cinderella this afternoon. Wish me luck.

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 01/04/2015 12:12

I am looking forward to watching Cinderella eliza I love Cate Blanchett.
