I've been told via Whatsapp by a MN'er this morning who used to be a member of the ante-natal group that there's a Facebook group, but that they won't accept anyone or her back Hmm (a bit weird if you ask me, but each to their own, and have really left a PND suffering mum feeling like shit, but I doubt they care in their "clique")

So are there any August Mums left on here willing to chat, without connecting to Faceache?

Sleep gone shit again.
He has woken every hour for the past three nights.
I am dead.

I see teeth 9 through to 12 lurking.

Bastards.

Re: expressing. I exclusively expressed until 4 months old as DS would not breastfeed. I tried doing it again a couple of months ago to get enough milk for an evening out. No chance! I simply couldn't get any extra off from the huge quantities DS now devours. How women do it at work is honestly beyond my comprehension and its not like I didn't have enough practise.

mrsmilkymoo · 06/08/2015 19:29

Hmm, I was thinking of expressing at work but the room I could use is actually a fair way from my office, and I'm not sure my boss would be happy about me trekking all the way across campus (I'm at a university). I think I will be able to express enough at home....but will I need to express for my own comfort at work? I have friends who say that at a year that hasn't been a problem, but DD does feed quite a lot so maybe I would notice it more. Arrghhh.

Red I think it's really usual to find that as your baby gets older, it's harder to express. In the early days I only had to look at a pump to get a full bottle (wasted effort anyway - DD never took a bottle!) but now I can't get much in one session (been trying in preparation for going back). My friends have said the same too.

Hope you manage a better night's sleep tonight. DH was commenting early that humans are really quite badly designed to have to undergo this teething pain!

jessplussomeonenew · 06/08/2015 21:18

I express in the middle of the work day, it's a bit of a pain but I generally get lots of milk - not feeding for 4-5 hours makes a huge difference to the amount I pump. I have to remember to drink loads at work or I get quite dehydrated though! I get a bit uncomfy in the afternoon if I don't express but could probably get used to it if I stopped pumping. It's fine once you get ahead as you're still producing the same amount of milk as you would if feeding them, what's tricky is getting a day ahead in the first place. I found I could can pump enough for the next day's feeds, though we've started topping up with formula so my husband can do a night feed or two as well.

Ouch Red, I do so hate hourly wakeups. Sleeping in shifts has been the only way we've coped - it means we each get a few hours unbroken sleep. Hope the teeth come through soon.

RedToothBrush · 06/08/2015 22:27

DS unfortunately will not settle in the evenings with DH so shifts have not worked. I wish it did! DS was really good with DH but then he figured I was dinner and as soon as its dark I'm screwed as he turns into a mummy's boy vampire.

GingerCuddleMonster · 07/08/2015 22:22

soft play was awesome, however Rita become apparent that DS has no idea about ledges, height or caution Sad. The boy is mad, just like his father!

oh no red I hope the sleeplessness ends soon!! It's draining.

Sorry can't help with expressing, suppose its one of the very few benefits of the dreaded bottle feeding lol Confused

Yes, I think I will express in the middle of the day too - DD usually only feeds on one side so if I do both that will make up for a couple of missed feeds (I think!) My other option is actually to walk down to her nursery and feed her myself - they have a room where you can do that - but I'm not sure whether that's a good idea or not, as I don't want to unsettle her. I also worry that she may then fall asleep on me, like she often does at home in the early afternoon, and it would then be impossible to leave!

We definitely have another tooth coming through - we've had just three on the bottom for about three months, so much for teeth coming in pairs! The fourth one seems to be finally making its appearance.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend - had hoped to go out for a nice walk today but it's so overcast and looks like rain (just for a change!) We'll probably still go regardless. And tomorrow our new car arrives, hooray! No more breaking our backs getting DD into the back of a 3 door car.

jessplussomeonenew · 10/08/2015 08:24

MrsMilky, I think if you can go down regularly to feed that might be a nice opportunity to reconnect, but if you can only do it occasionally that could be a problem as she'll come to expect it and get upset when you can't make it.

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 18/08/2015 22:38

Hi all sorry I've been quiet, it's been hectic, also you may notice the new name...I've had some issues with the account and 're setting the password due to the recent "attack" on mumsnet.

I promise it's still me though (waves) Grin.

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 20/08/2015 16:11

so DS has been for his 1st year injections, very emotional he wiggled screamed and bled quite a bit Sad.

All done though, sticking nicely to his growth charts too, hovering between the 9th and 25th percentile for weight and height.

LovelyTrees · 22/08/2015 17:11

hi everyone I've had to change names cos of the security problems Confused

how's everyone doing? any more walkers yet? DD is cruising on the furniture but not dared to take any steps without support yet.

we're also mid house move at the moment so its total chaos. DD's birthday is therefore being "postponed" for a month, or at least till we're settled in to the new house. she doesn't know any different luckily!

MrsMilkyMoo · 04/09/2015 10:56

DD is the same lovely, cruising and walking holding on to a hand but won't let go. We had the 12 month injections recently too - she had a bit of a rash about a week later and was a bit under the weather, but was otherwise ok.

I'm back at work now, 2.5 days a week, and absolutely hating it. Everything has changed so much in a year and I feel really stupid.

MrsMilkyMoo · 04/09/2015 11:01

Meant to say, hope the house move goes well too!

BeansMrSeanAndHeinz · 09/09/2015 08:57

Just looking in to see you all, and hope you are all well.
We had a party for the big oh-one timed perfectly with a really out of sorts baby, so so unlike him. It turns out he had ulcers on his tongue and think he had a mild dose of chicken pox with just a few spots. Poor baby.
Also We have finally got a crawler!
Wishing sleep to all those who need it, we are so mid house move so best go back to the packing.

MrsMilkyMoo · 09/09/2015 17:36

Hope your house move goes well beans! What a shame your ds was out of sorts for his birthday. Still, if it was chicken pox, that's great to get a mild case. Hooray for the crawling too!

LovelyTrees · 27/09/2015 13:52

How is everyone this weekend? Since the app stopped working and I had to set up a new name it's not so easy to keep up.

We had some friends over to visit today with their DS who is 2 months older than DD and she tried to take a few steps on her own, copying him! Guess it won't be long till we have a walker... Eek!

MrsMilkyMoo · 07/10/2015 07:25

Hi Lovely, that's exciting your DD will soon be walking! Mine hasn't shown much interest in walking, think she's definitely more of a talker/communicator. Bizarrely, her word of the moment is 'eye' and she will point to our eyes, eyes of her animals, eyes in pictures etc and say it. She's been cruising for months and will happily walk holding my hand, but has no desire to let go.

Unfortunately she had croup last week and had to stay off nursery, and I ended up with tonsillitis too, possibly caused by the same bug? Otherwise though she's doing really well at nursery and seems to actually enjoy it. I've had my first piece of artwork home which was exciting! (A painted fish)

Hope everyone else is doing well!

MrsMilkyMoo · 19/10/2015 20:33

After saying that dd wasn't interested in walking....we now have a walker!

RedToothBrush · 27/10/2015 12:03

Wooo congratulations! They do suddenly go from not walking to walking when you aren't expecting it!
