It'll be fine Tatty! I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway!

Sleep now involves her going to bed at 7 (she's knackered by that point), sleeping until about midnight. She wakes again any time from 2 - 4, if it's earlier then I try and soothe her back to sleep without feeding her. After that wake up she seems to make it to around 6.30 without being fed again, but she might wake up enough to need some ssshhhhing.

Last night I woke her at 10.30 because I really wanted a long stint for the first sleep, but it didn't work and she still woke at 2.30. Slept until 7 this morning though.

This has only been happening since last Friday, she was 14 weeks on Monday. She's also quite wee (which I think means she still can't quite get through the 6+ hour feeding gap) - was average when born but is still quite small. Not worryingly so, but people keep telling me she's tiny. She's got squidgy fat legs and arms, and looks healthy, so I'm ignoring rude folk!

Oh I forgot - she also has always woken almost exactly 45 minutes after she goes to sleep at 7. Screams like she's had a nightmare, but is easily soothed back to sleep. I just go and lie in there around 45 minutes so I can put a hand out straight away. It's not a problem.

Sounds quite a pain now it's written down, but it feels fine - we get our evenings, and I get just about enough sleep.

Pregnantagain7 · 22/01/2015 12:47

R is managing on just one feed a night now usually between 3 and 4. He feeds well but it's having a knock on effect on is 7oclock feed Ie he doesn't want it and he's not feeding brilliantly at 10 either.
Just spoke to a friend at toddlers who is a hv and she said it's a sign he's ready to drop the night feed and to start reducing the amount I'm giving him in the night or watering it down (ffing) I'm a bit nervous! Think I may give it til after the weekend to be sure he doesn't go back to 2 hr wake ups before I start reducing!

splendide · 22/01/2015 12:50

That sounds very doable. It's not massively off what I have but the first sleep is shorter and I do a lot of shushing. It's interesting that the 10.30 wake up made no difference. That seems to be true here as well.

Pregnantagain7 · 22/01/2015 12:51

goats 45 mins after they fall asleep is the danger zone!!
It's when the sleep changes and they come into a lighter sleep (before they go into a deeper sleep) prime time for a wake up.
That's why lots of babies nap for 45 mins. If you can get them to stay asleep past 45 mins they quite often have a decent nap.

splendide · 22/01/2015 12:53

Yes! We don't seem to get the 45 min wake up at night but always for naps. If I or DH can get him over the 45 mins he quite often does 2 hours.

Interesting Pregnant. DD only has an 11pm feed then sleeping 'til morning. She is never very interested in the 7am and 10am feeds, like you said. I do keep wondering if she's ready to drop the 11pm feed.

Which will you go for, reducing the amount given or watering down?

wondermoose13 · 22/01/2015 14:32

pregnant im intrigued... do you reckon if i can get babymoose to sleep on me past 45 mins we might have more luck moving him? lets ignore the fact he isnt even doing that at the moment or would it be better to move him earlier but be prepared to shush etc after a bit? He always seems to go bat shit crazy when he wakes up so resettling doesnt usually work but im willing to try anything!

Pregnantagain7 · 22/01/2015 14:53

fate I'm not sure what I'll do I'm thinking probably reducing. I'm just a bit nervous about doing it too soon and it sending us back to the dark place Grin

wonder maybe you would have more luck. Maybe you could try holding him until or lying with him past 45 mins then moving him? I'm not sure but perhaps worth a try? It's so so hard when they're not sleeping I only had it for a week and it nearly finished me off I can't even imagine how you are feeling Cake

Pregnantagain7 · 22/01/2015 14:56

fate sorry meant to say it does sound like she maybe ready to drop it. Maybe try reducing it a bit? I'm always so nervous of dropping that feed but others on here like kirsti have got babies doing 7-7 so it can be done!! I think I will hang on til after weaning as I'm a wus Grin

tattyblue · 22/01/2015 17:17

Well, we're all okay. Baby cried quite a lot and dp is knackered but nobody's dead, so I think that counts as a win.

Kirstipops · 22/01/2015 17:22

Hope you got on OK today Tatty!

Kirstipops · 22/01/2015 17:22

Oops cross-post, hope your meeting went well too despite the stress of it all!

splendide · 22/01/2015 17:44

That's good Tatty!

God I'm tired today. Please be kind tonight baby.

MundayCakes85 · 22/01/2015 17:47

Yay Tatty glad everyone survived!
Baby slept really well last night but has fought every nap today. Only had about 1 1/2 hours in total and a lot of that was on me.
I'm looking forward to dropping that night feed, it's happened a couple of times so know it can be done.
Waiting for DH to come home to start dinner- salmon wellington (from Aldi) and lots of veg. I will lose this last stone and a bit

ohthegoats · 22/01/2015 17:53

Least favourite time of day, 5.30 - 6.30. Child tired and cranky, bored of me, not hungry but crying for boob so overeats to the point that by 6 we're both awash with sick. Too early to put her to bed, too late to do anything exciting. It's a proper test of my patience.

Invariably just when I'm at the end of my tether I get a text saying he's stuck in traffic, or still at the office an hour away. Urgh. By the time he gets home I've put her to bed and am in a zombie state on the sofa.

STIGZ · 22/01/2015 18:56

Glad you went tatty & everything went sort of smoothly Smile

pregnant im in the same boat with the night feed situation, if i could get her to take a dream feed i think she wouldn't need the night bottle at 3.30am but she is so zonked by then, it doesn't work Confused

Well done wee heidi on her 12 hours Grin

sazzlehopes · 22/01/2015 19:37

Goats it is an evil time of day. For us it coincides with ds1 needing dinner sorting. Cue me mad woman dashing about trying to keep everyone happy! Sometimes it amuses ds2 enough to see his mad mother dash about, other times poor lamb has to scream from his bouncer Confused

And right I'VE MADE A PLAN. Ive watched my child puke loads more and develop nasty eczema all over his face the last few days. Today the poor creature has done nothing but rub furiously at it making him unhappy and it sore. He's never done this and it's horrid to watch. I'm back off the dairy as of tomorrow. I never fully got back on it hardcore but I've definitely had more the last week, yogurt (which I have to say I was massively craving) and milk in my tea, the odd bit of cheese etc. and I think it's had an effect on him, whether he's sleeping badly too because of it I've no idea, but im happy to give it up again and see.
I'll never really know but I hate not doing something... So formula is out the window for now and if I get some better nights sleep I'll feel like expressing some feeds in sure!

Hi Yellow do you know if I can get Ned tested for dairy intolerance- not sure how it works if I went to the doctors and explained my trial, 8 weeks off it, 4 weeks on again...

Sazzle if its Ig-e mediated allergy (histamine response) then it might show on a blood test, if its non Ig-e allergy (gut response) then it won't. Our paediatrician and dietician don't do blood tests for CMPI they just work on elimination diet results and would only test if there was a suggestion it could be an anaphylactic response needing an epi pen (ie lip swelling, contact rash, wheezing etc).

sazzlehopes · 22/01/2015 20:42

Thanks yellow. You're a star!

Thanks Stigz Grin She wasn't up for any naps today and I ended up putting her to bed before 7 as she was so overtired! She woke abour 8.30 in a massive huff and vommed on me after I attempted a feed-to-sleep. I brought her downstairs wide awake and we watched DH replace skins on his drums with a running commentary, which produced some yawns from her after about 20 minsGrin so back upstairs we went and she's now sloooowly dropping off. So ladies, if white noise doesn't do it for your baby, I'll send you a recording of my DH talking about the technicalities of his drumkit!!

wondermoose13 · 22/01/2015 22:10

Haha you never know kirsti you could make a fortune if that recording works Wink

wondermoose13 · 22/01/2015 22:14

Hmm babymoose is asleep on our bed but for how long do i leave him there in the hope that a nap helps sleep later or try and move him and risk waking him?
