Oh my elder daughter used to do that violently shaking her head side to side thing. I know exactly what you mean, I can visualise it now.

For her it was a comfort thing, like a 'self rocking to sleep' thing. For DD it was a good thing when she started head shaking in her cot, because it meant she was going to sleep.

What about just leaving babymoose to it when he starts and see if he settles?

ohthegoats · 21/01/2015 01:48

I'm awake with a seriously churning gut. I'm attempting a dream feed n8w just in case things go pear shaped in the d and v direction later tonight.

Is it okay to keep feeding them if you're ill? There isn't an alternative right now though, so hope so.

tattyblue · 21/01/2015 06:49

goats I hope you don't succumb, but as far as I'm aware if you do then you should keep feeding- baby gets your hastily compiled antibodies that way.

Sorry to buck the trend, but baby went to sleep at 8 pm and she's still going. One quick feed at 5 and to be honest I think she might have settled without it but I was in danger of lying in a puddle and it was easier to feed her than get out of bed. It's ashame that we're going to ruin it by forcing a bottle down her throat at every opportunity today, probably making us all miserable. Wish me luck!

MundayCakes85 · 21/01/2015 06:58

Baby slept until 4.45 when the farting and leg banging starting. DH pulled her back up her cot and she slept for another 2 hours. Now hoping she empties both my boobs as they feel like rocks!
Good luck today Tatty, glad you got a good nights sleep.

ohthegoats · 21/01/2015 07:23

Came to nothing more than stomach cramps, thank goodness. Had her in bed by 2 though and she's just woken up now, so not a bad kip either.

sazzlehopes · 21/01/2015 08:15

Oh crap we are back to 2 hour wake ups! Why why why?!!!!!!!!!

fate I'd love to bf lying down but baby is basically like a teapot and milk pours out of him. If I don't feed upright or let him sit upright after a feed he's a bit pukey!
And also thanks really enjoyed reading your formula pros...as a ebf mum I wasn't bothered in the slightest in fact you made excellent points. That and the 2 hour wake up has made me think today is the day to crack open the formula starting with one feed tonight! Wahoooo goat milk here we come!

I had an ok night I suppose. He slept quite well but I didn't manage to sleep when he was as he was very restless and kicky. It was his first night in his sleeping bag so maybe that was why.

We are currently putting him "to bed" in the living room - not sure if this is a bad idea sleep association wise but it is the SIDS advice. I'm worried he won't be able to go to sleep in the dark and quiet if we get him used to going to sleep with the TV on in the background.

tattyblue · 21/01/2015 09:13

Is it possible for a three month old baby to be sarcastically defiant? She howled blue murder at the bottle again but suckled on a sippy cup while eyeballing her father as if to say "screw you, dad". I really hope it wasn't a one off. We'll try her on it again later.

Kirstipops · 21/01/2015 11:28

Well it happened, 12 hours in a row Shock .(Officially a better sleeper than me since I was up at 2.30, 4 and 6am with sore back and boobs which takes the shine off it somehow even though I know it shouldn't.) Fed and changed her at 7 and she went back off to sleep for another 2 hours, good lord. She definitely prefers to get all her sleep in one go.

Anyone here with babies/kids with eczema? I went to the drop in clinic last week as H had come out in a dry rash on the front of her torso and arms, was prescribed Diprobase and the emollient bath stuff but it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference, it feels less dry but her rash is still there. I've soaked and rinsed all her clothes as my initial suspicion was that it was down to changing washing powder. Just don't know what could be causing it and how to get rid. HV at the clinic told me to stop using Coconoil in case it was aggravating it.

splendide · 21/01/2015 11:36

Oh that's amazing! Congratulations!

Is that in her own room? Or in with you?

wondermoose13 · 21/01/2015 11:47

I think babymoose is posessed....
My phone has the white noise app so i was without it all night trying to get him to sleep.
i think we got 2x 1hr sleeps but ive no idea really, there was a lot of crying and feeding/biting...
He dozed a bit in bed with me this morning then pooped himself awake. We played for 45 mins, puked after tummy time, read a book then he just started screaming like a demon child and wouldnt stop!
Put some anbesol on his gums and he stoppes screaming but cried when i tried to put him down for a nap (randomly worked on monday 1130-1230 but obviously never to be repeated!)
So have had to get back in bed to feed him to stop him going turbo again...
Its getting ridiculous now, why wont he go back to normal! I really thought we were slowly getting somewhere but obviously not. Sorry for the rant just getting seriously fed up

FATEdestiny · 21/01/2015 11:53

Yeah Kirsti! Grin That's fantastic for you.

Does anyone have snow coming down? Big flakes here. Was expecting snow last night, but wasn't expecting more snow today. I have no car today and tomorrow - I do not want to be pushchair pushing in deep stuff!

MundayCakes85 · 21/01/2015 13:14

Yay Kirsti! Let us know your magic secrets!
Sorry to hear about the possession Moose, no suggestions here except try to get some time away from baby if it's getting too much.
E did her first out loud giggle and I managed to video it on my phone Grin Ridiculously proud FTM moment Smile

wondermoose13 · 21/01/2015 13:23

Aww thats ace munday paddy can smile and say "ooooo" but not giggles yer
kirsti that is just amazing! Hope you can enjoy it a bit more tonight

Im currently jiggling the hell out of babymoose as hes sat in hos bouncer yawning his head off... wide eyes and smiles lol i somehow think im not winning this battle any time soon
Oh good its snowing again.... i havent been to a baby group all week and am getting a bit cabin fevery!

YellowWellies · 21/01/2015 13:28

Moose big hugs. I don't know what to suggest other than intolerances which are my speciality and which, like the sixth sense kid and dead people "I see everywhere". Has he got any other symptoms other than 'colic', comfort feeding, slow weight gain and sleeplessness. Is he still refluxy? Puking? Hating being laid flat? Smelly breath? Exciting nappies?

Kirsti fab! Lil is back sleeping from 10ish til 8 after we've given up pushing a bedtime. We had two nights of a couple of disgruntled "just checking you're still here" wakings where she went back after ridiculously quick feeds to punish us for considering the very idea of sex on Saturday night! Either that or it was the shortest regression ever. She's still very wee so we'll try again in a fortnight. As she's our last I'm not minding her snoozing on us before we go to bed. I appreciate generally she's a very civilized sleeper and am not wanting to ditch her dream feed yet in case it triggers a real night feed. It's so funny how different they are, I'm doing the same as with her brother who had the odd night feed up to 15 months, regular ones until 12 months - yet she's seemingly content without far earlier?

Anyone else having really bad foot pain? I think blooming relaxin has made my arches fall. Fecking hormones. My wonderful childless evening dog walks have become something of a hobble Sad

YellowWellies · 21/01/2015 13:30

Fate no snow here Sad. -4 but no snow. DS1 is vair disappointed. He's slightly Olaf obsessed and wants to build a snowman.

FATEdestiny · 21/01/2015 13:33

I think my arches have fallen. I appear to have permanently gone up about a full shoe size. Needed to buy all new shoes - which has been a nightmare because I have a much loved, old pair of brown leather winter boots that I've had for years and love - they don't fit be anymore.

YellowWellies · 21/01/2015 13:44

Fate me too! And bloody flat Ugg boots just made it worse. Granny orthotics purchased and podiatry referral next week. Gutted about my old shoes that don't fit anymore Sad .

Kirstipops · 21/01/2015 13:45

Aww fab Munday! What a fab moment to capture!
I think it's mostly dumb luck tbhBlush, 3rd week into her new bedtime routine and the nightly wakeups have just decreased over that time from 4 or so down to none. Splendide , she is in her Moses basket & rocker in our room with the monitor on from 7.30 (having had a bath about 6.30) We go upstairs to bed about 10ish.

splendide · 21/01/2015 13:51

You give me hope Kirsti! How old is she again?

wondermoose13 · 21/01/2015 14:00

He seems to have trapped wind, very loud and forced trumps, hiccups, has been sick twice a day for last 3 days but 1 of those was after tummy time each day
He gets really screamy just before a feed (we dont have regular feeds, just as and when)
I cant decide if the omeprazole is causing the wind/sick/crap sleep
Hes had quite thick gooey nappies since the omep but there was a tangy smell that we havent had for a while. He seems unhappy in the bath recently might be due to lying flat
Weve decided to give the omep a full week on its own at 5am and 4pm and see how that goes, if no improvement we'll go back to just ranitidine. Consultant appt on 4th feb so hopefully get some help then but im not entirely sure we will

wondermoose13 · 21/01/2015 14:06

Oh and chewing on everything in site and trying to climb me with his legs when feeding

STIGZ · 21/01/2015 14:23

kirstie my first dd has something called keratosis Pilaris which is a dry skin condition which she has had from birth, basically no creams or ointments make any diffrence and arms & tops of thighs have like wee rough dots, she isn't bothered by it at all and the dermatologist said it should disappear by teens, check dr google and see if H's symptons are similar ?

Kirstipops · 21/01/2015 15:19

Thanks Stigz, I had a look and it doesn't look like that kind of rash and she only has it on her torso and arms. I just had a look at it there and it looks like it's getting better, wee midden making a liar of me ;)

Splendide she'll be 16 weeks on Sat, or 17 if you go by her extra week's baking :D

YellowWellies · 21/01/2015 15:46

Moose I'm wondering if with his short frequent feeds he's getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk. It sounds like lactase issues (the farts, tummy pain, vinegar nappies) which would fit with that. You either need to express off a bit of foremilk before latching him on or keep him on one breast for all feeds in say a one or two hour period (no longer else you risk reducing your supply) and tickle him etc so he keeps feeding rather than nodding off before the fatty milk starts to flow. It would explain his hunger and falling down centiles. Google 'lactose overload'.

Kirsti I swear by Aveeno cream for occasional eczema.
